Subject: New Submarine
Message:
The Delkorian Defense Force is looking to expand its opperations underwater. We are in need for a small, Diesel-electric powered craft with a max armament of 5 torpedo tubes and 1-2 deck guns. Crew numbers should not exceed 50 men. Displacement should not exceed 950 tons. We plan to order 4 of these boats for trials, with the option for future orders.

(ooc: something like a German U-boat...)

[OOC: Deck guns are a waste, both of space and that the sub has to surface and be a bigger target. If you want a diesel electric, take a look at the GermanType 212 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Type_212_submarine), possibly the best DE sub out there.]

(ooc: I'm looking for a u-boat style sub, for simply coastal patrols. That, and I like u-boats)

OOC: even for coastal ops a deck gun is liekly pointless sicne even cheap DE baots can stay under water for most of thier operational patrol periods. if you really want agun there is however the option of a Vertical gun system (VGS) which woudl allow you to fire from periscope depth, if such a system would interest you i could design a DE sub that uses one of my submarine modular bays to house either a VGS, upto 7 criuse/anti shipping issiles or a bundle of SAMs.

We are ready to begin talks with the government of Delkor, about lending out one Gotland Class SSK Submarine, for testing purposes, to see if the submarine fulfills your requirements.

The Gotland Class Submarine is one of the best conventional (Diesel-Electric) SSK submarines in the world, with an air-independent propulsion (AIP) system. Thanks to the AIP the underwater endurance is extended from a few days to around 14 days. And as a bonus the system is vibration-free, silent (of course) and virtually undetectable.

If this sound interesting, please come back to us!

SS-17 Resolute Class Patrol Submarine.

Propulsion: PD-SX128E Diesel Electric with Fuel-Cell Battery Backup powering 1 ducted prop
Displacement: 800 tons surfaced, 949.9 tons submerged
Length: 180 feet
Beam: 18 feet
Draft: 12 feet
Speed: 20+ knots submerged, 18 kts surfaced
Crush depth: 1000 ft (safe max depth 800 ft)
Armament:
(5) 700mm Torpedo tubes: 4 fore, 1 aft 20 torpedo capacity
(1) Deck gun: 56 mm Rapid fire semi-retractable cannon, 800 rounds capacity
Crew: 4 Officers, 40 crew
Price$100 million
Specially designed to meet the Delkorian Defense Force's need for a new conventional submarine, the Resolute class is a modern take on classic WW2 era submarines. While featuring all of the capabilities of subs from that era, the Resolute class also mixes in modern technology including advanced fuel-cell systems and compact sonar. The 56mm deck gun can retract into the hull of the ship slightly with the gunner's shield deflecting currents to reduce friction in the water and reduce its sound signature. The telescoping snorkel allows the diesel engines to breathe even without completely resurfacing and can operate for about 2 weeks without the need to pierce the waves at all. The periscope, located right in front of the snorkel, features night vision and thermal optics as well.

Almohed has to give credit to Phoenix for that little custom design. Good work. :D

The Socialist Kingdom of Kopparbergs,
We would wecome the lending of a Gotland Class SSK Submarine to our forces. It would be useful in finding a permament choice of sub for our forces.
