The New Argentina (Earth II)

Persecution and Hatred
13-02-2007, 05:37
.General de Cruzs slightly delapidated 1985 s class mercedes roared though a dusty Buenos Aires bordello, almost hitting a small child playing in the pot holed addled street.

(The Shanty towns have grown so large around the outskirts of Buenos Aires that either the slums themselves or the modern central business and the affluent districst of the massive megapolis is the anarchronism on the face of Buenos Aires today. It was hard to tell for most middle and working class citizens of the city. )

de Cruz loved the status quo, The rich got richer and the poor Inadvertantly got poorer whilst helping the corrupt generals line their own pockets.

de Cruzes escorted mercedes was on its way to the Juntas (which recently seized power following the inevitable collapse of the last audacious totalarian regime.) headquaters in the government district where the almost surreally ostentatious mock spanish colonial and 19th century Argenitine townhouses clashed with monothic corporate skyscapers.

The city center as per usual was in pandemonium since the acension of another dictatorship. Tear gas and rubber bullets were standard equipment outside the gates of parliament house where the vociferous temperament of the Argentine educated univeristy students clashed with the sheer brutality of the barely literate national guard.

thererfore De cruz as founding member of the New Junta always found it prudent to travel through the back alleys of the sprawling city..

His mercedes eventually arrived at the gates of parliament where the rather tenous barricade (setup by the army to allow members of the new Junta through) looked as if it was about to relent to the deluge of angry argintine citizens.

(Autocracy suprisingly enough was not the big issue with the seething crowd. but rather the way that the Autocratic principles were frequently abused by both Generals past and present in argintine society. The Idea of a monarchy as opposed to a totalitarian dictatorship seemed more of a palatable choice to a lost and confused people)
