If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself.

CEO Erik Days mulled the thought over, smiling slightly as he realized just how much he owed to this ideology, and ironically how close it had come to being his ultimate ruin. The Amaranthine Corporation was dead, and rightly so, and in its place Amaranthine International had arisen about a year ago. That’s hardly where the story began however, and he fell deeper into thought, probing his fading memories.
Erik Days was young, and as is usually the case when one is young, a nobody. His father had been a wealthy banker, his mother a housewife, and he a forgotten blip in their tumultuous relationship. Whisked from boarding school to boarding school like a bit of processed potential he grew apart from his parents at a very young age. When he was eighteen, he ran.
He floated amongst the seas of humanity which swayed to the tides of war and progress. Nations and years blurred into each other, a blur of humanity spread across his life. From this chaos, however, came a true education. He saw the ways of men, and he knew their deepest desire. To consume. Like an unshakable addiction consumerism had grabbed hold of the world, and people wanted more.
Some would call him an evil man for what he did, but such statements are naïve. At the age of thirty he chose his life’s path. He would feed that consumption, in every way possible. He would become the great supplier of men and nations. He was no fool, and his years amongst the free nations had taught him of the world’s dangers. Tremendous super corporations delved deeply into the ways of war, their reach unimaginable, funds infinite. He knew that if he were to begin at that level, his failure was assured.
So he founded a small company, The Amaranthine Corporation. It was a jack of all trades, and dabbled at a small scale across numerous markets. He followed the text books, hired employees, executives, and built a tiny empire for himself. However, he knew that men were imperfect, and failed unfailingly. As his corporation grew, it suffered as all business’s do from time to time. They downsized and reformatted from time to time. However, he could not accept even this failure.
Over the years he drastically expanded his powers as CEO and personally began to manage more and more of The Amaranthine Corporation. He slept only a few hours a day, and never flinched from his work. It began to kill the man. As the forties and the first ailments of age crept upon him, he grew wary. He had the frame of a skeleton and his eyes were vacant whenever work fell from their gaze. Soon even his corporation slipped away from him. One man, however mighty and motivated, cannot micromanage a corporate empire of millions.
At the age of forty nine he struck down by a massive heart attack. He slipped into a coma and was on life support for nearly a year. Dangling above the maw of death, his corporation began to dissolve around his nigh lifeless body. Lesser men could not shoulder the burden he had laid upon the position of CEO. When he awoke he found his empire almost entirely in ruins.
That was two years ago. After that day he reformed, he knew that he was not a great enough man to manage what he hoped to create, not alone at least. So he searched the globe, he traveled personally, even during recovery, and recruited some of the brightest business minds the world had to offer. Soon he had assembled a board worthy of The Amaranthine Corporation.
Time would show, however, that The Amaranthine Corporation was dying. In his absence mortal wounds had fallen upon the business. Days and his brethren put down the beast, and used the funds generated from its mass liquidation to law the foundation for a new empire. Amaranthine International was born.

Erik Days emerged from thought, and breathed slightly. He glanced up from the polished ebony desk that his hands rested upon. His secretary was staring at him intently, the light reflecting slightly from her glasses.
She cocked her head slightly to the side, she was used to his deep moments of reflection that had begun with his heart attack, and repeated, “Sir, the international press release is ready.”
His eyes focused and he slowly stood, a slight weakness about his legs, age and
death had taken its toll. He spoke, “Very well.”
She handed him a bit of white paper, typed writing blazon on its surface. It was the release that would soon be published throughout the international community. His eyes slowly took in the message.

AMARANTHINE INTERNATIONAL
Amaranthine International, a newly formed corporation, announces its first tentative steps into the international community. Founded by CEO Erik Days and numerous other individuals, Amaranthine International hopes to serve the needs of the world through excellence in all aspects. Currently the breadth of Amaranthine International’s services is extremely limited, however, in the coming months and years Amaranthine International hopes to expand its services extensively with the cooperation of others. Amaranthine International hopes to repair the tarnished reputation of the international super corporation, and will work for the good of all peoples. Stay posted for further releases.
Empowering Excellence

Days thought for a few moments on the short message. It was a gamble, but for the most part non-descript and non-threatening. He hoped that it would serve as tool for the initiation of international relations, nothing more, and nothing less.
