"The scene in Iragia, which has just received widespread international condemnation for its recent massacre of democracy protestors is now preparing for possible assault against it as the free nations of the world gather together in prepartion for possible military intervention against the communist regime. The People's Republic, which maintains four main security elements, the Liberation Forces being the mainline military, the Civil Defence Corps being the internal security forces, the Army of the People's Republic being the conscript force for primarily defence, and the home guard militia.

Tens of thousands of conscripts are apparently being called up from the home guard, all of whom have previous experience in the Army of the People's Republic, which is pushing to muster a strength of approximately two hundred thousand soldiers to set up defensive positions. Iragian Defence Systems is allegedly working overtime in all its factories to produce more weapons, and we have received footage from freelance journalists in the country and resistance groups of coastal missile batteries, cannos, and extensive air-defence networks being established.

We have received reports of trenches being dug around the capital, and tank bunkers being set up as well as the Home Guard being called to service, and attached to civil defence corps units as they prepare and train for a partisan war against occupying forces, as well as guerilla actions to delay an advance through the country. We will bring you more news as the story develops.

A word of warning: You will probably be going up against nations ten times stronger than you, and you will likely be outnumberd. Going to war against them could mean occupation of your nation

"Greetings from the Red Tide Mafia. We are willing to sell you our C-802 Anti-Ship Missiles and Mk-50 Anti-Submarine Warfare Torepedo's. The Chinese designed C-802 will probably be unable to sink Sovereign League ships bigger then a frigate. But smaller ships should go under given sufficient number of missiles, take out the escorts and you compromise the entire task fleet anyways. It'll go for 200,000 dollars per missile.

The US designed Mk-50 ASW Torepedo is designed to sink submarines... and nothing but submarines. With exceptions, it will garuntee to destroy enemy subs under normal combat conditions. 85,000 per torepedo.

How do you know we are trust worthy? Via this tidbit: The Socialist States will soon be involved... and they wont be on your side."

OOC: Given that Iragia has a defence budget of less than $1bn I think it is unlikely that they would be able to front much of a defence. Though for the sakes of RP it may be more fun to allow them artistic license, anyone's thoughts???

OOC: well i suppose we could let em have a budget increase but the army size alone will be tiny still if my military is 3% of my population my standing peacetime army alone is over half of his total population so what would we do about that?

Hmm..., good question. I'm not really sure, but maybe having an OOC thread would help...

OOC: What you do about that is RP without simply relying on 'numbers = win'. Sure, if I was invading someone, I could send dozens of millions of troops, but I wouldn't.

And if I was a small nation being invaded by large liberal democracies, I would do my best to cause them immense amounts of casualties in any way I could. Especially if my nation was, say, a small communist dictatorship that wantonly slaughters its own civilians. Things like keeping the air force hidden to avoid airfield bombardment wiping out my airforce, surprise ambushes on travelling columns, using the lay of the land to my advantage, and consolidating my forces to try and achieve minor regional victories. I would admit to myself and others that I couldn't beat them in a straight-up fight, especially if someone was deploying, say, 7 million troops to attack a nation of 8 million people, and would instead try different tactics to cause maximum enemy casualties with minimal casualties to my own forces.

Then I would hope my opponents were willing to RP public dissent from the deaths of their soldiers in a far away place. Kind of like Iraq.

OOC: To address issues related to my army size, I'm creating an OOC thread here:

We are not the aggressors, we defended our regime against rebels, and now the so called 'free' nations of the world seek our annihalation. And as for attacking nations showing no mercy, have no worry, for we shall show none in our defence.
