Northern Ireland...a region torn by civil strife. Protestants vs. Catholics, Irish nationalists vs. British authorities. For centuries the British have reigned control over most of the island and now just this small part. The Irish for good reason view the British with contempt for crimes committed in the past. The Old IRA tried to oust the British in 1917 and failed but their legacy of defiance and resistance lived on. A different kind of resistance emerged, a darker and more controversial and certainly more violent NRA emerged, striking fear into the hearts the British and even the Irish. Religion and independence drove them to kill, destroy, and bring the region into chaos. Irish youths toss rocks at armed British soldiers, these clashes often ending in bloodshed. The region was spiriling into civil war as religious differences fueled the fire. Finally, after years of bloodshed the streets became quiet thanks to British reform, cooperation, and weariness of death. The IRA was hounded and deamed too dangerous and often, a desgrace to the Old IRA. However, a new conservative administration has taken power in the UK. The Prime Minister looks to take more control over Northern Ireland. When the region seemed likely to be returned to Ireland, the plans are soon abandoned. A new wave of violence threatens to emerge and distabalize the region. A new group of Irish resistors emerged, known as "The Poets". The authorities struggle to subdue this new and more dangerous organization. They launch a campaign of bombings, threats, assasination, all in their mind: for Ireland. A bold plan is launched to strike directly at the British and end their dominance in Northern Ireland once and for all. Will they succeed? Or will the authorities stop them in time?

History: Ulysses grew up in a poor neighborhood of Belfast. His father was a factory worker and his mother a teacher. He also had a sister who was five years younger than him. One summer day the two of them went to a park to play with other friends, he was ten. Nearby there was yet another demonstration against the British minority which controlled the city. The crowd was at first peaceful but grew violent, a shot was fired from the crowd and the British troops opened fire. A ricochet hit his sister. She died in his amrs. Since then he vowed to fight the British with every fiber of his being. He became involved with crime and eventually managed to become involved with the IRA, conducting minor missions but nothing too dangerous or eventful. Wanting to take a more drastic role he quit the organization and began to create another group, one which would make changes, regardless of the cost. He is smart, ruthless, and methodical.

He received a police caution at the age of 15 for breaking one boy's nose and another's arm in a fight at school. John left school at 16 and joined the army. He passed basic training with flying colours and volunteered for the paras at 18. Following successful operations in Bosnia, he was offered a place in an SAS assesment. He passed and joined the SAS in Afghanistan. At 23, in Iraq, he was promoted to sargeant. Soon after he was transferred to the Anti-terrorism unit.

History: Mr. O'Callaghan is the well known founder and President of O'Callaghan Solutions Inc., a highly successful firm that supplies various international interest groups with survey data throughout the world. He has come into focus in the news recently for his recent decision to add a new philanthropic branch to the organization, dedicated to helping orphans of devastating civil wars throughout the world. He is seen by most people as an honest, upstanding businessman, and a devout Catholic with a strong humanitarian side.

However, behind this facade, there is a darker side. O'Callaghan, born in Belfast during a time of particular civil strife, lost his father and mother, both IRA nationalists, during a battle with the British police. He carried this weight in secret, harboring a thirst for revenge that consumed him and followed him to America when he emigrated at 20 years old. Unbeknownst to the public or authorities, his company was initially a front, giving him excuse to often travel abroad, and a salary with which to finance irish nationalist organizations, of which many of his cousins were members. As his company has gained legitimacy, he has set up buffers between himself and the organizations he finances, but is in fact able to do more for them now than ever. He is fond of the new "Poets" organization, which he feels has the courage and determination earlier political organizations lacked.

History: Growing up in Edgwardstown in County Longford, far from the violence, Conor grew up following his father around the town, having a normal upbringing. He never knew his mother, and when he was fifteen his father went to Belfast and he never heard from him again. Killeran moved to Dublin in hopes of joining the city's police unit. The night before he was scheduled to begin training, he met a man named O'Connor in Murphy's Pub in downtown Dublin. Questioning him about his feelings on the British, Killeran said that he had no feelings on them. O'Connor said that if he ever changed his mind, to call him.

The next morning, Killeran received a call, stating that he needed to come to Belfast to identify a body, believed to be his father. He drove to Belfast and the body was his father's. Killeran learned that his father was working as a police officer in Belfast when one night British authorities raided his home claiming he was a member of the IRA. His father denied it, but they didn't believe him and he tried to resist. The legendary British officer, William Shorshire, nicknamed "Blood and Shackles" for his oppressive tactics arrived and brought up falsified charges of murder, conspiracy, and terrorism. Killeran's father attempted to escape when Shorshire, shot him dead. Killeran called O'Connor who stated he was not IRA, rather he was a new type of nationalist, a "Poet" From there, Killeran's story begins.

It's funny this would be very appropriate for me to join, because I'm in Model U.N. in School and were representing Ireland this year. But sadly I don't think I have the time right away. SOrry for my usless comment

I was in model U.N. last year. We were U.S.A. and I was on the Security Council. It was a ton of fun.

oooh challenging. My three years in High School (counthing this) we've been Iran, Japan, and Ireland

The three of us were a troublesome group for the Security Council. Several other reps from countries hated us because we ''made a mockery of the UN" a statement made by some chick from the Congo and I retorted by saying:
"Well, aren't we all mocking the UN because this isn't the real UN?"

It was loads of fun, we were the life of the party. That and amoungst other things we did. We made a box witha red button on it and used it as a barganing chip during negotiations, threatening to ''push the red button"

lol Makes me think of the reps from Cuba I think last year, they were kind of scary.

We faced stiff opposition by China and several other nations over a resolution over darfur. So, during a break we had a very attractive girl with the Russian delegation to distract the opposition while we snuck back into the room and cast a vote, our resolution passed.

The, we introduced a bill to remove all the Haitians from Haiti and take them to Siberia so that we could use the island as the U.N.'s new headquarters and resort. It was about to pass but then we got slammed witha crisis situation. It would've been funny to hear the guest speaker read off our resolution to relocate the Haitians to Siberia in front of all the people at U.N. We sat in the back and made fun of everyone while our arch rivals, the rich pompus delegates from Qatar hated us because of our lack of ''seriousness''.

Wow. Usually if we don't take it seriously the judges get mad at us. I recall last year people began passing notes saying stuff like "Hi" or "We love you X country" and the judges got so mad. Another one of my teamates in another delegation told me his delegation began to pass notes to delcare war on someone and invade. Can't remember who though

I used my infectious personality and charm to sway a vote on another reolution. The delegate from Belgium, an attractive young woman voted in favor of our resolution after I spent lunch with her. We had sticker nametags for our nation and we wrote 'Merica and I'm good at impersonating George Bush so I made a speech infront of the council using his voice. We were hooligans.

Is this some kinda thing they do in American high schools???

We don't do anything like that in Britain, it sounds like a laugh :p

Yeah, Model U.N.'s a nice thing to do. get's you familiar with how the UN works. I only had that much fun because the one I was at was kind of laxed in its' rules.

History: Daniel was born into a family deeply involved in th IRA movement. he spent his entire life helping to fight for the cause by age 14 Daniel had participated in many bombings along with several armed conflicts. shortly after his 15th birthday his parents were arrested and shortly after executed for their involvement with the IRA. Daniel spent the following years fighting for the cause and raising his his younger sister and brother. however while Daniel was out with other members performing one of the countless kidnapping their organization carried out his home was broken into and his brother was severely injured and his sister was kidnapped. Daniel has spent everyday since trying to find who took his sister and believed it was British loyalist but has recently came to believe she may have been taken by fellow IRA members. this lead Daniel to leave the ranks of the IRA finding a new home with the new Irish poets group.
