The League of Free Worlds is currently looking for new nations who are interested in joining the League. As you may have understood from the topic-title, this alliance is FT. Our basic principles are quite simple: No matter how small your nation is, you have the right to recieve as much aid as a 10 billion nation. Our alliance is based on equality, thus everybody has equal rights to equal aid. Furthermore, our alliance is a defensive alliance. We will not aid in acts of unprovoked agression, but only in case your nation has been attacked and you intend to defend yourself, or counter-attack. We don't care about your political ideology, as long as your government doesn't oppress its citizens and indulge in acts of terror, like massmurder.

You are welcome to sign up on this thread, or on our off-site forum (http://z6.invisionfree.com/League_o_Free_Worlds/index.php).
We appreciate active nations.

Although we have long-since decided for ourselves that this alliance is relatively impotent - we wish to ask you a few questions about it. Firstly and foremostly, precisely what method of governance do you use? Are resolutions passed by a majority, and, in addition, who enforces mandates, for instance, when a member breaks one of the core rules.

Is there a constitution, or charter, which clearly outlines the rights and responsiblities of members? Furthermore, we find it overly bothersome that some of the members at currently undergoing a state of war with one another - this implies laxity of investigation, or laxity of enforcement, or both.

Satisfactory answers to these questions could see the Starfederation consider membership in the League of Free Worlds. We are mildly impressed with the simple fact that such an alliance exists, and that it has not been caught up in any major wars, very little conflict, and, indeed, has been unremarkable on the whole.

Greetings!
As an answer to you first question, the governance issue, we would like to point out that a "rule by majority" is quite impossible in some alliances, since members are simply not active enough. The only time when they are active is when they are attacked, and we can't wait for that. We have what can be best described as a "clan mentality", where the founders take care of the governing issues as best they can, while other (active) members point things out, and help us in our decisions, few as they are. Mandates are enforced by the founders, under supervision of all (active) members. We always try to think of the common best and the greater good.

As for constitutions, we have those few basic rules described in the first post. Although, if I may say so, I think that a clear constitution would be a rather good idea. I have been planning to make one, but RL stress hasn't left much time for that. As for members warring with each other, well I would be greatfull if you could give me some links to investigate, it sounds quite disturbing, though I think that even the best of allies can have a little skirmish once and a while.

As for not being involved in any wars, well, we're a mostly peacefull alliance which is based on friendship between members, where everybody is free to invite anybody to join a RP-thread. Up to now there haven't been any major wars that have required the mobilization of the entire League, though at the moment there are some incidents taking place. For instance, Asfaltum territory is being invaded by the Undead Scourge (Icecrown Glaciar), and Bautizar territory is being invaded by Kraetons (genetic killing-machines, Edoniakistanbabweagua ). But with the help of some of our allies we will manage to destroy these threats...

Yours sincerely

Firstly, to the matter of those of your members warring with each other. The Empire of Balrogga, and the The Empire of The Humankind Abh are presently undergoing a state of war, as per the ESUS-GFFA conflict. Secondly, it is our understanding that the GFFA and GE have not yet signed a peace treaty - thus making the Fedral Union, and Humankind Abh also technically at war, although the majority of open hostilities have ceased.

If you have provoked the wrath of the undead, we wish you all the best - although it must be known that they are fierce, unrelenting, and powerful, and you will pay in blood to stop them.

We do not wish to provoke enmity with your alliance, but it has been deemed unsuited to the Starfederation's needs, in all intents and purposes. Should you gain strength, or perhaps unity within the future, we shall considering joining.

We thank you for your reply, and wish you all the best. We would like to point out though, that the Undead have attacked us of their own will, without any provokation of ours. They are invading our territory and will be dealed with accordingly. We are also thankfull for your information on hostile actions between members. We will look into it.

OOC: Asfaltum, free nudge here as well, but the name has changed to the "United Nations Colonial Administration Authority of Bautizar." (Yes, I know it's a long title. And yes, I know it's a bureaucratic title. But it's supposed to be obtuse.)
