*The Premier arrives at the podium for his first speech*

Ladies and Gentlemen, and Rabbits of the nation of Doqistan: In an attempt to move our nation's post numbers past ten, so we are not blocked by the magical spam filter, and to encourage foreign nations to view our country in a positive light, I have been ordered to provide a series of addresses to you, the people of Doqistan. This speech is entitled, "Doqistan: Land of Plenty".

Doqistan- We are a new nation to be sure. While our country is small, we do have much to offer. For example, our people are intelligent. Illiteracy of the Doqistani language is virtually unheard of, with reading and writing among the first skills our children acquire. Before they draw pictures of flowers or the sun or their parents' homes, they are writing our script, and reciting proverbs from our nation's collected wisdom of generations. Our script was deliberately simplified to provide pictorial representations of sounds that small children are able to form, with more complex forms coming later, as they acquire both greater dexterity and better mastery of complex concepts.

This stress on primary education, and the ease with which our children acquire these skills is due to generations of striving against ignorance that illiteracy breeds. Long ago, that ignorance bred fear in our people: fear of each other, fear of the natural world, fear of the unknown and the unknowable. And with the ignorance, that fear was also eradicated through the simple forms of education that we stress at an early age. As a result, people are able to conceive of deeper thoughts at a younger age than ever before, and consequently, ours is a nation of philosophers. And while there is absolute freedom of worship, our government does not meddle in the rights of the people to choose whether or not they wish to worship unknown deities, nor do we encourage people to do so. That choice is entirely between them and whatever force they serve: whether it be a god, a totem, or an idea.

This does not mean we do not stress physical activity as well. In all accounts, our children, male and female are encouraged to train physically. Even those youth which may, for whatever reason not be able to run and jump and play as the other do are also encourage to develop what parts of their body they can. Consequently, we have wheelchair weightlifters, an activity unheard of in other, more "modern" nations. Children are encouraged to find the best activity they enjoy the most, even if it's golf, and do that to the best of their ability. Luckily, our nation is blessed with a sunny and warm climate with a high water table, so that our citizens may enjoy their favorite outdoor activities year round.

While we live in an ideal environment for our mental and physical growth, that does not mean there does not exist the temptation to commit crime. We must remember, at all times that crime is a symptom of one of two things: necessity and avarice. Our society as a whole can do something about the former, however, the later exists in one degree or another in all people, and against it we must be forever vigilante. Together, we can keep violence between citizens to a minimum that we have luckily enjoyed this far. It is incumbent upon each one of us to do so, and your government will entertain any and all ideas for doing so more successfully, and in comportment with the ideals of our society.

To stem the first cause of crime, our government has so arranged the economy as to provide for all an adequate quality of life, which leaves them more leisure time in a month than most people of the world experience in a year. Our society traditionally has been based in agriculture, and this will continue as our nation slowly implements a comprehensive industrialization program in all areas of the country. No choices about the economy, however, shall be made that have a destructive impact on the environment. Our first priority is to live in a great country, and then other considerations will flow from that priority. We have seen environmental destruction on a cataclysmic scale in our study of other nations in the world: we would like to avoid that fate by performing measures that keep that from happening to us in the first place.

As of today, our traditional warrior societies will be reorganized into a national self-defense militia, and armed with modern weaponry. While not capable of launching an attack against anyone, we will need to provide a national defense capable of repelling invaders, and holding out against superior forces for an extended period of time, should the need arise. Again, there are two causes of war: necessity and avarice. Hopefully, through good relations with other nations we are able to eliminate the necessity of war, and through good diplomacy, we will be able to somewhat mitigate the avarice of others. In a sense, war is like crime, in so much as it is used to attack, and can be dealt with in many of the same ways as crime.

It shall be the policy of our government to create a map of Doqistan and a census of its people. As we join the community of nations in this world, such things become an imperative.

In summary, our nation is happy, we are prosperous, and we will continue to grow and live in peace. With the help, good will and hard work of the people of Doqistan, we will succeed.

Most Serenely,
The Premier of Doqistan

"Primero dejer de ser, que dejar de ser revolucionario."
