Earth Medieval(Idea/OOC Thread)

I just had a brilliant insight!

Through some act of god, six nations from NS are copied and then teleported too the Real Life 1500's. Huge islands are formed in the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans, two each, and these nations are deposited on the islands. Their space assets all intact.

Now the question is... what will they do? And how will the other kingdoms react when these advanced humans begin too explore this new world.

So basicilly, joining this Earth will NOT effect your NS status elsewhere. You have two choices:

You can be a nation from NS.

Or you can be a kingdom that existed in the 1500's.

There is a limit on the former(six nations, first come, first serve), but as for the latter... the limit is the number of countries that existed then.

So yeah, I also need a map person.

'NS' Nations
1: Red Tide(Pacific)
2: Amazonian Beasts(Atlantic)
3: No Taxes(Indian)
4: Platta(Pacific)
5: Kolvokia(Indian)
6: Shakal(Atlantic)

I am interested, but what tech level will the NS nations be at? MT would be a little unfair in the Medieval Age.

... Actually, I was thinking MT nations.

Looks pretty good-I'll play as my own nation in MT. Could I grab an Atlantic island, too?

Well, I guess it would be like a race for colonization of the Medieval nations among the NS nations, so I will be my NS nation with one of the two islands in the Indian Ocean.

I'm interested, but for reference what time in the 1500's? Because if you were thinking about setting it in the early part of the century, you could move it back to 1492 and has Columbus "discover" the island in the Atlantic instead of the Caribbean.

You sir, are a GENIUS! We'll give one of the two lucky nations in the Atlantic a day before Colombus arrives on their island.

So, yeah. Ill get right on updating the 'members' list.

Incidentally, are we limiting the non MT nations to RL medival nations, or could they play PT NS nations?
Red Tide2
07-02-2007, 16:55
I was thinking that the none-MT nations would be limited too Real Life ones... unless you can think of an alternative?
Kolvokia

Well it doesn't matter much to me either way, but if you wanted to, you could allow, just for example, someone to play as a Greater Empire of RedTide2, or whatever, using past tech, but their nation.

Oh, and put me down as Indian ocean. I'd have preferred Pacific, but both of those seem to be taken.

Alright, we need one more nation(who will automatically get Atlantic since all other spots are taken) and some Medieval Kingdoms.

The Holy Roman Empire as well as almost all nations of the 1500's, employed mercenaries, free componies, and a few knights (which had a function similar to the Soviet Political Officers, to keep your allies on your side).

The Swiss had a rather good reputation in close combat,

The 'White Compony' had earned itself a sizable reputation during the mid 14th century.

The best troops were the Spanish hack-buts, the German Pikemen, and Italian crossbowmen. The english with their longbows falling out of favor due to lack of suitable archers and bow materials.

The Rusians had huge tracts of land, and consequently, people who knew the land, and knew how to use a horse (Crossacks), and a massive supply of Serfs. They had some interesting bits of artillery.

The French became known as a jacks of all trades, but mostly commendable on their willingness to fight for the sake of 'honour'. Almost re-inventing the bayonet charge during the 17th century (before then it was a rushing mob in loose order or a plodding mob in close order, the french managed to rush in close order with an effect similar to a cavalry charge, except bayonets wouldn't stop them... This became a bad thing when someone invented a practical machinegun...

The Swedes would later trump the French/Spaniards at this by employing extremely powerful and mobile field artillery, and somehow managed to shoot their muskets 3x faster than anyone else by using paper 'cartridges' and drilling them to use their weapons on a national level, creating an early standing army...

A quick glimps at 'modern' tech weapons would most certainly distort/accelerate the weapons development in the 'RLP' (parody) nations.

You also have a sizable portion of Morocco and some cities along the Algerian and Tunisian coast, and are fighting a war with Islamic rebels in those areas.

We should also have an Ottoman player, as they are incredibly important at this time. They own Turkey, the entire Balkans, and are pushing troops down through Syria and are about to to Damascus, as well as about to make a push in to Romania and Hungary.
