Back from the shadows... (FT, Open RP)

The Legendary TIN

Lord Gregory was almost delighted to be returning to Earth after almost 50 years stationed on Arcadia. The Imperial 1st, 2nd and 3rd fleets had spent that time pursuing survivors of the Alternate incident to the far reaches of the Galaxy. Lord Gregory and Fleet Prime had hooked up with the rest of the fleets and were making their way back to Earth to report to the Emperor.

Gregory looked at the Metalic claw where his hand used to be. The memory of losing it still caused pain to him. The pain was made worse by the passing of his beloved Admiral Belena. The only woman he had ever loved. Killed while battling with Mechs from the Enemy Remenent.

"My Lord? ...Er, My Lord?"

"Hmm...? Oh, Yes Admiral."

"We're almost in comms range of Earth. Shall I patch you through Sir?"

"Thank you Admiral Yarris. Proceed."

The Admiral flicked on the commlink and instantly was taken aback in horror.

"My Lord! I cannot raise the Empire! According to our instruments, they no longer exist!"

"WHAT? Status! Give me a full scan of the Earth!"

"I can detect The Imperial Navy's Landmass, but not the architecture! ...No... just rubble... My god sir, they're all dead!"

"Holy Trel! Does that mean...?

The Admiral looked sadly at his superior.

"I'm afraid The Imperial Navy is no more."

"Are the commlines to Arcadia still up?"

"Yes sir."

"Good. Tell them to send reinforcements. We're going down to find out what happened."

A group of 12 Imperial Dropships fell on the Earth with a thud. A dozen Imperial Troopers Marched from Each, their Black armour glistening in the light.

"Set up a perimeter around the craft. Blue group, Red group, you're with me. We're heading into what is left of Imperial center. If we find any survivors we shall report back shortly."

In orbit, Admiral Yarris was busy Scanning the planet.

"The rest of the planet seems normal, and those we contacted claim that nothing has happened? How is that?"

There was a mystery afoot. What had become of The Imperial Navy?

"This is Fornost, we are starting planetary descent."
"Roger Fornost, drydock is ready."

"All hands, all hands! Brace for transfer. Fore shields to full...starting engine idle process...three...two...on- HOLY SHIT!"

"Pull right! Pull right! Port engines full thrust and GET US ON A NEW COURSE!"

"Whats going on, Fornost? We read a course change."

"Oh yeah, sorry ground control. ITS JUST THAT THERES A BLOODY FLEET IN OUR WAY!"

Fornost's captain stared at the assembled fleets in shock, then grabbed his comms officer.

"Get on the radio-thingy and ask those bastards what the HELL theyre doing! Jumping into traffic lanes like that." He paused, most of the starships in question looked military, "But be polite about it."

OOC/EDIT:
I remember you. I think we both made our first nations around the same time.

IC:

Above Earth, local space

The Amazonian Dominion, for being a repressive imperial expanse, held by the control of the strong, was an exploratory, curious group at its least. Emperor Droma was perhaps the forerunner of such-he had always held a wonder of the unknown, the exterior, the beyond-much of this had established contact with what Dominion scientists dubbed "exspace", where the Dominion had partnered a relationship with that dimension's inhabitants in exchange for a limited influx of their weaponry and technology. This alone had benefited imperial holdings across Dominion space, and Droma was always looking for more, to explore, even if in the galaxy or all the way to light-years and dimensional rifts.
A protocol of the Dominion established the Expeditionary Forces-a fraction of the standing military divided into "Scout Fleets"-small, three to five ship formations-that exemplified their name-they explored. Outfitted with the latest from the scientific and military genius of Amazonian scientists, they were potent yet amiable groups that, unlike much of the Dominion, were not belligerent, but friendly. They simple made contact and made discoveries instead of blowing things up with the multitudes of fire that made a standard armada.
Scouth Fleet AN-64Z was a standard group. The Scout groups themselves were lowly in that they had letter and number designations five digits long, rather than the standard four or three of normal fleet groups of the Dominion. This group was four ships strong, led by the Pinnacle-class cruiser Justified Redemption, flanked by a Nova-class frigate and two Otari-class corvettes. Light, yet able to survive long enough to run away or call reinforcements should they take fire from a hostile unknown.
The fleet was protected by a sensor shroud-the Dominion's standard cloak. Emperor Droma's military policy was wary of cloaks-Amazonian procedure preferred revealing itself to its military and clashing in full view, therefore, anti-cloak systems were very advanced, while hiding wasn't the Dominion's strong suit. The sensor shroud was a simple device that used a time-system to intercept sensor frequencies and scramble Dominion-sent sensor frequencies simoultaneously. This did nothing for outward appearance, however-one could easily see the ships of AN-64Z with the naked eye. But not everyone was looking.

Captain Telan Vos, commanding the Justified Redemption, was a hardened fleet commander. At age forty-two, he was still prime in life for an average Dominion human, enhanced physically and mentally beyond the capabilities of a normal man with the Dominion's practices of genetic enhancement-sometimes called unethical. He had served in the revolution that had upended the Federation of Amazonian Beasts and formed the Dominion, served valiantly through the Tarsonis Wars, and now was stationed on a Pinnacle cruiser. Not a picnic in Vos's eyes, particularly with a family at home near the Dominion's Foundation Worlds.
But he was up for a little fun, and checking out the planet they were over was a bit of fun, though they had to maintain the sensor shrouders. The fleet's sensors were on passive standby until word came back from headquarters about next moves, so Vos and his fleet had remained idle for several days.

As Vos, eyes closed, reclined in his command chair on the bridge, his sensor officer strolled up from the recessed officer stations below the main bridge deck.

"Sir, contacts on passive sensor."
"Of what kind?" Vos opened one eyelid, face reflecting tiredness-even though he had done about nothing for four days.
"Unsure."
"Go to active sensors," Vos said, opening both eyes. He stretched his arms back, his 6'11" frame (average for a Dominion male) extending in his synthetic-plush chair.
"Complete. Should we launch a probe?"
"Sure. Don't ready the hanger yet though-could just be a bizarre hunk of garbage."
"Sounds good, Cap'n."

Above the planet, the cruiser's probe bay opened, a 10-meter aperture in the vessel's ventral plate. A glowing blue probe, primed on every sensor imaginable, shot forth, heading towards the disturbance that had emerged in-system and had closed closer to the planet. It hummed with the occasional sensor burst, searching for detection.

"Sir, contacts bound for the planet surface. Not sure what we have."
"Keep us steady," Vos said, sitting up. "Keep the reads on the probe."

Lord Gregory made his way through the landscape... It was so familliar, yet somthing was not right...

"The rubble we have encountered... I feel as if I have seen this before... but not in the empire."

Admiral Yarris checked the comm as it beeped, high in orbit. A look of horror came over his face.

"No... how did we get here? If Lord Gregory finds out it will undo all we have worked for..."

Yarris deleted the scan and ran from the bridge. Back on the planet, Lord Gregory and his troops approached what should be the Imperial Capital.

"My lord. We should begin to see the first parts of what is left of the imperial infrastructure over that hill."

"Good. Stand ready."

As they passed over the hill, they saw what it was. The Imperial city was a massive crater, covered in scaffolding. Accross the scaffolding, Slaves were tortured by slavemasters as they hacked at the rock... Slavers wearing the Imperial uniform.

"What the hell? the Imperial capital is a strip mine... run by our own men?"

Back in orbit, the docking bay of the mothership was almost abandoned. Deck officer Murdoc was finishing the touches on his recon fighter. Without warning, someone struck him over the back of the head, rendering him unconcious. Admiral Yarris stood over him.

"Sorry soldier, but this is important."

Yarris hopped into the recon fighter, blasting towards the surface.

OOC: Here's where it get's weird.

IC: The Emperor studied the report intently.

"Is this report accurate?"

"Yes my lord. A few hours ago Lord Gregory's convoy was returning from the outer rim, then there was some kind of energy disturbance and we just lost contact!"

"Do you have the triangulated frequency of this disturbance?"

"How did you... Yes sir, right here."

"Speak to me like that again and you'll be manning a radar tower in the Arcadian continent of Nasr... And people don't last there."

"Forgive me my Lord."

The Emperor read intently. A look of anger came upon his face.

"No... this can't be... It'll ruin EVERYTHING!"

"My lord?"

"Prepare my flagship. We must travel to Arcadia at once!"

"Yes my Lord."

Planet Arcadia

The Emperor's flagship Blackfire blasted into orbit over the planet arcadia.

"Place us in a geosyncronous orbit over Valua, and prepare my shuttle. Give the order for the 6th fleet to assemble."

"In such a public area My lord? I was to believe we were to keep the fleet a secret!"

"Don't question my orders. Follow them."

"Yes my Lord. All units stand by. Lutennant, notify the 6th fleet to assemble at Arcadia."

Welcome back, if you are the same imperial navy you helped defend Hellespontos on mars against some deviant Eldars a few years ago with Auman and I, then double welcome backs and how have you been.

OOC Possibly, it was only a short battle :p. Though I do remember an imperial navy being involved in said fight with around 12 ships, simply to fight some Eldar deviants. That ring a bell? Yup you were right, sorry the name was so similiar, it was the imperial guard who allied with us, but any friend of chrons is still a friend of mine. Welcome back.
