This is a bit of a controversial one. There's gonna be some rascism, violence, and that whole bit. Sign-up if you're interested. It's like To Kill a Mocking Bird and Mississippi Burning.
After the Civil War and end of Reconstruction the freed slaves of the nation were once again put beneath the boot of the white citizenry. Especially in the South where overt segregation existed. Where the color of your skin determined where you went, where you lived, and what you did. Sometimes the color of your skin would determine whether you lived or died. The Klu Klux Klan rode through the night, terrifying any black who dared to stand up. Hangings, beatings, threats all awaited those who dared to dream. This system continued for decades upon decades, unchallenged, unchecked. In 1934 on an old plantation in Louisiana, a white woman was murdered. A witness pointed to a black man who worked as a groundskeeper. The situation is quickly turning into a race war as the white knights ride to take vengence on any black person they come across. As the black community is threatened and attacked the authorities do nothing to stop it and society takes a blind eye. However, a young lawyer steps forward to defend the accused man amidst a racialy charged trial. His family is threatened as he tries to discover the truth behind a grizzly murder, friends and family shun him, and he discovers an explosive piece of the puzzle which will test the very oaths he swore to uphold as he decides how far he will go to save a life.
