Romain Gramt’s private BMW, after the 200 kph+ accident yesterday.
München (VLPB) – ‘That this had to happen to such a good man. He has been a great help for me during hard times, it’s hard for me, truly.’ Nicolas Hirtz said about his Vice-Premier yesterday at a hastily assembled press conference. 20 km away from the city, Romain Gramt had crashed his expensive BMW sportscar a few hours earlier. He would die half an hour later on the way to hospital.
Gramt was on his way to the yearly Winter Break of the Cabinet, taking place on a ski resort in Austria. He had left Luxembourg later than his colleagues, and was supposedly in a hurry when his car, an 80,000 Euro BMW 6-series Convertible, lost grip due to unknown reasons, and crashed into a truck, before hitting the guard rail and making an almost 360 degree turn. Gramt was not killed instantly, but died in the helicopter that would transport him to hospital.
‘His injuries were thought to be minor at first. The vehicle’s excellent crash protection equipment supposedly protected him from any serious injuries. However, internal bleedings caused him to die at a later stage. It wouldn’t have made any difference if he had been in hospital sooner, as the doctors wouldn’t have been able to save him’, according to Autobahnpolizei Chief Jonas Lehmann. A statement from the Universitary Hospital München confirmed this.
‘The Police was at the scene within the required five minutes, but didn’t have enough equipment and manpower to save Gramt from the wreckage. The mobilised additional units didn’t arrive until 10 minutes after the crash, and it took around 15 minutes for the helicopter to arrive. This has all contributed to the death of Romain’ his former wife (divorced 4 years ago), Rita Gartner, commented. ‘It is a scandal how long it took for the medical units to arrive. The Fire Brigade had already gotten him out of the vehicle five minutes before the helicopter arrived.’
However, Jonas Lehmann, Motorway Police Chief of the Munich area, refuses to acknowledge that Gramt was killed due to the helicopter not arriving in time. ‘Mr Gramt was not killed by slow emergency services. The services on site were sufficient to keep him alive, and the doctors of the München Universitary Hospital have confirmed Romain Gramt could not be saved in any way.’
The car accident also has stirred up the Autobahn Lobby. Activists have called for speed limits again, but the Minister of Traffic has refused this. ‘We must accept that these accidents happen, that this could’ve happened to anybody. We ofcourse are greatly saddened by this event, but we will not limit the speeds of the motorways. These roads are part of life, a part of culture. I’m very sorry to say that these accidents also belong to this culture. However, the Ministry of Traffic has ordered a joint investigation by the independent experts, on top of the usual Police investigation and the IVD investigation ordered by the Grand Duke.’ Alessandro Debiasi said yesterday.
On the Internet, some have already started rumours that this is the work of the Government itself. ’The rather mysterious events that have taken place around this accident indicate that this could have been the work of the IVD, and that Vice-Premier Gramt was assassinated by it’s own people.’, someone on the RTVL Forums commented. This has however been declined by independent experts who have studied the wreckage of the vehicle, which is now in the labs of the Motorway Police in Munich. ‘It is impossible this has been a murder. Firstly, the wreckage does not show signs of sabotage, or any other sort of modifications. Second, Mr. Gramt did not have any clear enemies or reasons why he should’ve been assassinated.’
There are still many things unclear about the car accident which killed Vice-Premier Romain Gramt. This newspaper will use this issue to publicize all information available about the accident.
(OOC: This will be the start of a new Election in VL. Everyone is welcome to comment, either with articles or government reactions. I do not want any military involvements of some kind, Just for the lunatics who haven't understood this is supposed to be done without military involvement.)
