Barudii at civil war

Human rights activists resorted to violence this morning when they were denied the right to vote. This appears to have triggered violence throughout our beautiful nation. Now with a speech by our wonderful dictator: Mikhail Haird.
"They must die! Kill them all! Cleanse the country of their filth! Shoot to kill..."

OOC: Alright, I'm in. Now, do you have a map of your nation, becuase that would be quite helpful.

Pudite Prefecture Two, Port Compound PC-0034, The Board is Set...
Mr. White, the Dominion’s foreign affairs advisor, had only just returned from a classified meeting about twenty minutes before, which, ironically, was directed towards dealing with the civil violence situation in another small nation, Nechronia. Now, as soon as he entered his office on the ground floor of the large naval compound, PC-0034, he was whisked off by his aides to a second small room. Like the first, and any other room anywhere in the country, the walls were barren, white expanses. The only light was provided by a long, dim ceiling light set into the structure. Beneath this florescent tube was the only feature if the room, a small, solid table of a dark wood. Upon it were rapidly laid, by the aides, a series of inexact satellite maps, probably older pieces, as it was unlikely any satellites had been ordered to remain above this nation before…

White followed his two subordinates into the chamber, “May I ask, what is the purpose of this meeting?”

He was answered by a young man, probably a secretary or some other paper-pusher, “Sir, another situation has come up. In fact, almost a direct parallel of your last meeting…”

“Well then… What do you have for me?”

The two aides laid out the maps, and dropped a small, leather-bound dossier as well as a few sheets of paper stapled together down onto them. “Sir, here we have our best maps of the region, a small nation known as Barudii. I am sorry we cannot be more exact, as we assume that these maps are up to twelve years old,”

The other aide broke in, “Sir, they’ve never been a priority… at all. This is the first time anyone here has heard of them…”

Mr. White, his silver hair falling down around his face, leaned in to examine these old maps, and the dossier set above them. “I understand, please, continue,” he said, his mind distracted as he opened the small leather book of information, “Hmmm, only fourteen million total…” he mused, quietly.

The other two continued, “Alright, sir, it appears as if their head of state has been eliminated, and a violent bid for power has been launched,”

The other interrupted, “Really, but anyone with a gun or two hands. We have very little information on the actual sides in this war,”

Mr. White now opened the small stapled packet, describing the traits of a certain Pudite Rear Admiral, as well as a pair of small fleets, “I assume this is all the forces we have in the area?”

“Yes sir, Rear Admiral Grishko Naidun and his 7th OPARR fleet are in range, as is the 8th OPARR.”

The other aide took over, “Sir, as of yet two other nations have declared peacekeeping operations, I suggest this is the route we take. We can have nine-thousand Grazskar on the shores in twelve hours,”

“Excellent… This should be a simple operation; I am authorizing you to order the 1st Legion of the 5th Strelkovy Army on alert, as well as our Lambda amphibious fleet and a single escort group. Have them assembled here; I want them ready to go in four days,”

The two aides saluted, hand to the temple, palm out, “Yes sir,” they echoed each other. The pair left, shortly followed by their leader.

Roughly ten minutes later Admiral Naidun received his orders; he was to rendezvous with the 8th OPARR and make for the shores of the small nation of Barudii. From there he was ordered to break his units up into nine battalions and do his best to secure the areas surrounding the major population centers. Help would follow in nine days, with Task Force 02 and the first legion of the fourth Strelkovy army arrived to settle the matter.

Minutes later a second message was dispatched, this one directed to whatever stable government may still exist in Barudii,

To: Berudiian government
From: Mr. White, foreign affairs officer

Our Dominion has taken note of your plight, and to relieve your situation, we have dispatched a force of nearly ten-thousand soldiers, soon to be followed by further reinforcements. We come to disarm your population and restore order and peace to your nation. Please, accept our help.

Once disarmed and pacified, a new government will be established, and our forces shall remain to ensure that region’s stability before we leave your lands. Our advance forces are being commanded by Rear Admiral Naidun, an experienced and competent commander. You may make contact with him once we have landed.

Good day,
Mr. White

sgt fairs stared into the pitch black night sky from the flight deck anxiouse about his mission, he had already been into battle many times however this time was different this time he was leading his men through the danger zone. He thought how things had changed so quickly just under an hour ago he was on a training mission when head quarters assighned his team the task.

the quiet nights sky was quickly dissrupted by the crackle of rotar blades he looked up to see the two black hawks prepareing to land. his radio crackled into life "this is delta 9-0 opperation hammer is go i repeat go". He grabbed His SA80 shoved a fresh clip in and then waved to his team to signal them to follow.

the 7 men hastilly boarded the chopper the pilot wasted no time in telling them that the odds of the chopper going down were very high and that the recon sqad had a close call with an RPG. they all checked there weapons and prepared for the 1 hour and 30 minute journey before they would reach the LZ
"now im sorry but you boys are on your own once you reach the ground as i will have to return for fuel at the trudent" the mens faces sunk.

as the chopper pulled away they saw bravo 9-0 begin to load up, fairs thought to himself of all the decisions that would face him.

*King Mikhail Haird appears on screen, surrounded by doctors and having a bandage on his head*

My people. I, Mikhail Haird, have realized my plight and grave mistake. I have been very greedy and have pursued only my own wealth and power. I will now attempt to right my wrongs. Thank you to the nations who have offered aid in this ordeal. We will now go through a nationwide reform. Our currency will become the Piece, our motto will be changed, and I will repair the damage to our government. Peace.

Thank you Mr. Haird, let's hope that you do those things. However, people we aren't out of this yet. Terrorists are popping up everywhere and are entering our country unfettered due to the civil war. We must now unite to purge terrorism and evil from our country.

Pudite OPARR Fleets 7 and 8, Command of Rear Admiral Naidun, The Peices are Moving...
Rear Admiral Grishko Naidun stood on the bridge of his Roydia-class battleship, the Revenge. All around him the combined force of roughly sixty fighting ships steamed forward, their bleached white hulls and structure gleaming in the sunlight as they ploughed through the heavy surf of the open ocean. Moving at eighty knots, Naidun knew they were only minutes away from sight of the shore.

Already a pair of Strakhen Sokol fighters had been dispatched from the two light carriers of the force, the Divine Wind and the Right to Rule. Both fighters were soaring at about fifteen hundred feet, moving in over the shore to take digital photos of the landing zone, a small industrial port city. These two fighters were followed into the air by eight further fighters, these to patrol the air above the fleet should any hostile elements have procured any planes.

In roughly fifteen minutes the first Dominion elements will hit land, and the advance elements of the infantry will begin their moves inland...

Unit 7 moved silently through the back alleys of the small village of Plumas, impossible to detect by anyone short of Special Forces. They just rounded a corner and
:mp5:
"Gunfire at 9:00"
The 4 men hid themselves then looked to where the gunfire was coming from. A small group of foreign soldiers were under fire from a militant wielding an AK47. The sound died and the soldiers moved up.
:sniper:
One of their men suddenly fell, dropped by a sniper.
"Damn compulsory military training"
The 4 men moved up to the source of the gunfire.
:sniper:
Another soldier fell, followed by an explosion. Unit 7 reached the building, climbing the stairs and clearing the rooms without a noise; every tango fell to the superior hand to hand training of Unit 7. They reached the sniper just as he was going to loose another shot. Unable to clear the room and kill the sniper barehanded in time, the commander loosed a burst from his M14. The sniper was blown against the wall and fell out the window. The pointman lead his squad out of the building and began to search the area for the foriegn soldiers who had disappeared.

Off the coast of Barudii, a vessel from the nascent Skgorrian Merchant Marine drifted just in international waters. Under the cover of darkness, a platoon of Special Action Unit 209 slipped over the side and rowed to shore in inflatable dinghys. Upon arriving on the shore, they deflated and buried the dinghys and moved further inland, avoiding detection from government or militia alike.

Royal Aragolian Ship 'Yorkton,' Flagship, First Expeditionary Fleet.

Senior Captain Iannis Hyatt waited anxiously in the Bridge of the Yorkton, the flagship which had been under his command for three years. Although action surrounded him; officers examining the many pannels and displays; he was calm. His gaze never next the red telephone affixed to the wall of the bridge. It rang, and the Bridge was engulfed in silence as the Senior Captain raised it to his ear.

He took a moment to enjoy the monumental moment which awaited him and his ship. He spoke into the receiver with confidence, as if he had practiced many times before.

"Iannis Jeffery Hyatt, Senior Captain Commanding, First Expeditionary Fleet of the Royal Aragolian Navy."

The voice on the other end of the time was calm, as well, filled with clarity and experience. The man of the other end identified himself.

"Arthur Douglas, Secretary of State for External Affairs. Is your fleet prepared, Captain?"

"It is, sir."

"I trust you have received your orders?"

"We have, sir."

"You are to proceed, Captain. His Majesty's Government expects an update within 6 hours."

"Aye, sir."

Senior Captain Hyatt replaced the red telephone, now turning to face his senior officers gathered behind him. He inhaled deeply.

"Prepare the ship for arrival."

Beachfront.

Having sailed just off the coast, both ships lowered the tenders attached to their hulls. Filled with doctors, engineers and soldiers, they made their way towards the shore with haste.

Scraping against the sand of the beach, the ramps were lowered to the ground. The Soldiers, in an expert fashion, began filing out.

"Soldiers!" Shouted Colonel Winters, commanding the Army Division. "Search the area, standard formation. Weapons loaded and drawn."

Pudite OPARR Fleets 7 and 8, Command of Rear Admiral Naidun, The Pieces are Moving...
Roughly four miles off the coast of the small nation of Barudii sixty-plus ships of the Emperor's Navy rested. Resplendent in the evening sunlight, the gleaming white fleet sat, unmoving upon the waves. And in the center of this fleet, the greatest of all the ships reclined, the massive Roydia-class battleship Revenge. Inside this fortress upon the sea was the command of Rear Admiral Naidun, and his staff.

The Admiral spoke, addressing the small command-observation room, in which were gathered the various ship and escort squadron officers and the two naval air colonels were assembled. "Officers, soldiers of the Naval Air Arm and the Imperial Navy, we stand on the brink of the newest enterprise of our great Emperor. Today you and your subordinates will begin this enterprise..."

He paused before continuing, "Already our aircraft are surveying the small coastal city we have come to identify as Bekdash, and in minutes the assault will begin. Yes, assault... We know that these citizens are armed and trained in the ways of warfare. Now, I do not doubt that we could storm the city, block by block, and still finish the operation with minimal casualties, but that may take days, as well as the wear and tear this may inflict on our equipment..."

There was some general nodding and the Admiral continued, "It is for this reason that I've chosen to begin the assault in little under half an hour, however, our soldiers will not touch soil for twenty-four hours after that. This ship, as well as its counterpart, the Emperor's Hand, will begin a preliminary bombardment of the shoreline for four miles along the most settled area of the port system. Sixteen inch guns will pave the way for our next attack, a series of missile salvos. Our twenty-four ships of the Lionfish class are more than up to this task. For the next twenty hours after that our air forces and further bombardments and missile strikes should reduce the last of our target areas to rubble navigable by the LV-08."

There was another series of nods and the officers were shown back to their ships, soon, the attack would begin. Just as the admiral had ordered, it began half an hour later as the twenty-four sixteen inch guns of the combined fleet opened up, each easily lobbing shells weighing nearly one-thousand kilograms the four miles to the shore, where each would be fully capable of leveling any building they were directed against... For the next two hours they would fire unceasingly, twenty four shots every sixty seconds.

Two hours later this artillery would end, but there would be no rest for the city. Every minute after that for the next two hours one-hundred and forty-eight heavy land attack missiles would land in a spread, covering the entire four mile wide, one mile deep target zone, sweeping up and down the area. Nothing would stand here, the Dominion's targeting computers would be sure of that...

For twenty hours after that the bombardment would be reduced to the whims of ten E/F-177A Coldun ground attack planes, each carrying a loadout of five-hundred, one-thousand, and two-thousand pound bombs, each plane totaling over seven-thousand pounds of high-explosives. They had orders to fire on thermal signatures, with the concentration of the signature the deciding factor in the type of bomb chosen. In twenty-four hours no living person would remain to watch the nine-thousand Grazskar legionnaires of the task force make their landing.

Thus was the Dominion's peacekeeping begun...

Pudite OPARR Fleets 7 and 8, Four miles off the coast of Barudii, Express Delivery
Off the coast of Barudii the Pudite fleet still rested, all quiet as the morning dawned, the peace of the open ocean hung over the fleet. But that was not to be for long, for in the distance could be heard the roar of a supersonic engine returning to the fleet. Ten Coldun ground attack planes were returning from another sortie of the destroyed port, and were only returning for a few minutes. They would land, new pilots, fuel, and ammunition would be loaded into the same aircraft, and they would leap off the decks of the carriers again, returning to their grisly work.

In seven hours the operation would be complete, all too late for the citizens of the small city of Bekdash, but right on time. For near minutes after that, the troop ships would hit the shore, and the real occupation would begin. Every citizen was now a hostile, every home a target. The entire nation had fallen into disarray, and no chance could be taken...

Pudite OPARR Fleets 7 and 8, The Coast of Barudii, So it begins...
As the sun in the sky reached its zenith the great white fleet of the Emperor stirred. For the first time in twenty-four hours the massive ships' propellers whirred into action, and from among the amassed vessels, two amphibious transports pulled ahead, bound for the rubble strewn shoreline. Flanking these ships were two Adari-class destroyers and two Lionfish-class frigates, their guns trained on the shore and their missile tubes ready and waiting. The rest of the fleet remained where it was, except the fighters coming off the pair of carriers, those continued their stay above the amphibious operation and the ruined city, apathic to anything going on below.

Inside these first two waves of ships were contained one-thousand of the Emperor's Grazskar Legionnaires, the warrior-fanatics of the Dominion. These soldiers stood easily more than two and a half meters high and were fully encased in their advanced, VEPR armor system. No trace of flesh nor face was visible, and there was no part of the warrior’s bodies not protected by thin, dense, plates of ceramics and dense plastics. These were the ultimate soldiers, and none now nor ever would equal them...

Following this full battalion of soldiers to the shore were their vehicles. These included the eighty SIV-25 armored personnel carriers required to fully mechanize these men, as well as forty of the famous, ubiquitous LV-08 light infantry vehicles. Also accompanying these men was the battalion’s compliment of artillery, seventy-five 155mm gun/howitzers. These were towed to their position by the common Ural heavy lift trucks.

As the pair of Shrike-class amphibious ships approached the shore a flight of helicopters emerged from their decks. In total, combined with a small wave of 'choppers from the main fleet, there were now fifty-six HVC-01 Marine Gunships floating threateningly above the city of Bekdash, taking up their positions. These helicopters were to be stationed at the edge of the four-mile long, one-mile deep swathe of destruction carved into the waterfront of the unfortunate city. They would float at the borders here, to prevent any interference with the landing. Anyone approaching the rubble border would be warned, and anyone crossing the threshold would be shot, a 30mm cannon round quite capable of disintegrating a human, as it was.

Now, the two massive ships hit the shore, the rocky, concrete strewn dock walls and piers crumbled beneath the bleached hull of the craft, and with a great groaning of motors and the crash of the rubble careening into the ocean, the two bows opened wide to reveal their horrific cargo... Suddenly, in perfect unison and without error in their step, exactly one-thousand of the Emperor's Grazskar marched out onto this newest of the Dominion's territories. Flanking the columns of the piercing red eyes of the Legionnaires, their armored vehicles and artillery crunched over the piles of steel, concrete, and glass.

For ten minutes the Shrike-class ships rested peacefully on the great grey beaches, until the last of the trucks and soldiers had finally left their large expanses of their hulls and passed over the bricks and stone into the city. Then the great engines awoke again, and with a great effort, pulled the ship off of the rubble piles and back out to the fleet, where they will gather up the next wave, again and again until all ten-thousand soldiers were put to shore.

For now, however, defenses would have to be set up on shore as the first battalion settled in. Surely, the locals were armed, and it was doubtful that they were entirely satisfied with the occupying Pudite soldiers.

On shore the commanding Lieutenant Colonel was a grizzled veteran of multiple assaults much like this very operation, he knew what was expected and possible, and would waste no time in achieving it. His name is Rodosav Putinchin, and he is currently standing around the hood of an LV-08 light vehicle, surrounded by the five Captains’ commanding his formations component companies, they were looking over a map of the city.

"Alright, right now we have fifty-something helicopters out here..." he drew his finger across the border of the rubble-waste, "Holding our perimeter. I want 1st Company to mount up and patch in with these helicopters, make a rapid reaction force to respond to anything major," A Captain standing across the vehicle snapped into a salute, returned by Rodosav, and departed to relay his new orders.

Rodosav continued, "Now that we've got our perimeters set, we should set up our headquarters and establish patrols outside the rubble, to shut down any response to our presence that may manifest, I want 2nd Company to begin, immediately. Move in as squads, but keep the rest of each platoon close by, I don't want any useless casualties," A second Captain saluted and departed, and Rodosav continued.

"Next on our list is going to be keeping these people here quiet, the Emperor needs this population alive, for the most part, and it is to our benefit to keep them from relaying any information they may get of us. I want the four platoons from 3rd Company to move out into the city and shut down any cell towers around here, for good, as well as take control of the cities power supply and at least one of the major news media centers. We'll get a message out to them before long, I'll let the intel guys handle that, though, got it?" Another salute and one less Captain.

"Good, now it's up to the rest of us to hold this position with 1st Company. Also, 4th, you should mount up too and make contact with 2nd and 3rd Company's platoons. You'll be their reserve if they hit any major resistance. 5th Company's going to clear out and build up our headquarters, I think a Ural back there," he pointed to a column of trucks and their towed artillery crawling across the remains of some unfortunate warehouse in the distance, "has the comms equipment, grab them and set us up somewhere around here, right?" A few more salutes later the meeting was broken up, and the battalion fell into it's motions.

The occupation has begun; very soon everyone in the city would know that...

Unhappy and disgruntled by the occupation by terrorists and the invasion by foreign nations, the citizens of Barudii rise up in revolt. What a revolt it will be, 70 percent of the population of a nation rising up against their oppressors. All of them trained and armed like soldiers (and some of them trained like special forces). Look out Peoples' Voice, unity has happened in Barudii.

First Brigade, Bakdash Beachhead, The Occupation Begins...
Lieutenant Colonel Putinchin sat now in a small tent near the shore of the now well-fortified Pudite beachhead, resting among the other Lt. Colonels and all other commanding officers. All gathered around a single simple table, on which was Putinchin's old map of the city, now covered in notes and tiny little thumbtacks. The computers had not yet been unloaded, and even if they had, a tent is no place for a state-of-the-art command station...

"So, I've already taken the liberty of dispatching a few patrols into the city proper, as well as attempting to secure power sources and media centers. We'll have them in the dark, blind to all but our views..."

Another Lt. Colonel, Kvasata, spoke up, "Yes, that would be good, were it not for the fact that the last few reports coming in from those patrols suggest the beginnings of a general revolt. We cannot be bothered with such trifles, we must begin the operation immediately,"

Another officer then stood, to address the assembled, "Were not our orders to secure the population alive, as was done in Chitzeland?"

"Yes, they were, until this began. You will find the beginnings of said campaign were little different..."

Kvasata responded, "Things have changed, they will not get their victory here. They will not get their guerilla war..."

There was a nodding of understanding as the officers stood to leave, retiring to their various units command centers, well behind the fighting that was breaking out at the borders of the beachhead.

Roughly a mile away, fully five-thousand soldiers were deployed along the edge of the rubble flats, supported by more than fifty helicopters, five-hundred armored personnel carriers, and roughly two-hundred of the famous Mekhev II main battle tanks, the terror of many a soldier or insurgent before, and again now...

This force was embedded in a small series of trenches and walls formed of the larger pieces of rubble hauled into position by the indomitable Grazskar. Behind these lines was a battalion of two-hundred 105mm howitzers, for now responding to the calls of the platoons that had been dispatched on patrol and to secure various objectives, but very soon their targets would be something else entirely...

As for those companies that had been dispatched on patrol, the 2nd Company of 1st Battalion, on general patrol, had been called back with no casualties to report, although scattered and growing reports of gunfire were received from the journey home. The 3rd Company has discovered and eliminated three cell phone towers, as well as cutting hundreds of standard ground lines before holing up in what appeared to be the largest TV news channel's headquarters buildings, as well as an electric power plant on the edge of the city. Each location was garrisoned by a pair of platoons. Both locations had weapons squads armed with a 14.5mm heavy machine gun, while the news station's second weapons squad was armed with an anti-aircraft rocket and the power plant's second team had already set up their 81mm mortar. As always, all four weapons teams were also armed with anti-tank rocket launchers and 8.12mm sniper rifles. As of yet a single rifleman had become the target of a high-powered sniper rifle shot issued from a building that was promptly leveled. The shot found its way between his helmet and the think ceramic/plastic armor below, tearing through the thinner armor at the neck and detaching his head. He was left where he lay, outside the power plant. He would not be the first, but he may be the last of the day.

As night began to fall on the city, the Grazskar would regain the upper hand in this fortress besieged by the rabble, as their advanced optic technology implemented through their helmet and genetic modifications to the optic nerve itself presented itself as an opportunity to see their surroundings in the thermal spectrum. As the sun fell, so too would many unsuspecting foreigners. Pathfinders armed with covert sniper rifles and the less-subtle 14mm anti-material rifles would hunt well tonight...

These two-hundred men would have to hold out until a general assault was initiated across the city, although with persistent aircraft and artillery support, all of the buildings surrounding the two locations were promptly being turned into dust.

Any non-Pudite caught in the open was shot on sight. No longer would there be a warning, and their lives were no long of any value to anyone in power. They rebelled, and the Dominion was putting it down...

"Looks like Krapickistan isn't our problem any more, we need to make contact with the Pudites quick, it looks like we got the whole country after us." No sooner had Cdntr. Redbreast spoken then a group of men emerged from the woods across the road and began firing. Clearly, these men had seen the parachutes deploy and decided to take matters into their own hands. What they would not have known, however, was that these paratroops were members of the 666th Airbourne Division, some of the best mercenaries in the Griffincrest corporation.

The mercenaries traded fire with the militia and after a brief exchange began to pull back deeper into the woods. The Mercury APC's, unable to go through the forest without leaving an obvious trail, were forced to stay and engage the militia, and then begin moving towards the nearest town. At a point further down the road, the paratroopers would regroup with the Mercury's and get inside, safe from enemy small arms.

Redbreast got onto his radio and attempted to contact the Pudite forces in the area. "This is Griffincrest Coordinator Gaius Redbreast of the six-sixty-sixth airbourne division. We request permission to enter your zone of control, and if possible if we can recieve an escort back to your nearest base. We are at point XX-YY. Whatever help you can give us would be appreciated."

First Brigade, Bakdash Beachhead, A Call for Aid...
Kiprian Arzubiev, the Major General in charge of operations in Barudii as of yet, was reclining in a small hardened structure recently completed for his, and his staff's protection from the incessant mortar strikes of the rabble outside the occupied flats. Even though the night they continued their launch...

He was currently with a pair of Platoon commanders chosen to report on conditions at the front lines, but was hardly though questioning them when another officer entered the tent/bunker.

"Sir, I am Maksimko Rzhevitin, a captain with Brigade Communications, down the beach away south,” he nodded in that direction, “And we just got something you should see. We neglected to send it via radio, as we were unsure if you were awake," The man handed his commander a small piece of paper, upon which was scrawled a message recently received from a foreign officer by the name of Redbreast. Major General Arzubiev read it over slowly...

At length, he spoke, "Alright, sir. I want you to compose a reply to this man, tell him we'll shelter him, and an escort will be provided,"

The communications officer nodded, and Arzubiev continued, "Along these same lines, order 3rd Company's first and second platoons, the ones at the TV station, to load up and move out. They'll be the ones going to get these bastards, got it?"

The man nodded again, saluted, and left the room. Arzubiev continued with his questioning.

Meanwhile, about six miles away on the opposite side of the city, one-hundred men loaded up their gear and piled into their component SIV-25s and LV-08s. Their orders were to report to the positions supplied by the foreigners and escort them back to the Pudite safe zone, however, they were not to wait for their pathfinders to return. These lone hunters were radioed and instructed to, when they finished their assigned missions, return instead to the beachhead, where their unit should be waiting.

At the same time, a response was sent to the Griffincrest Mercenaries;

Griffincrest Coordinator Gaius Redbreast, this is Captain Maksimko Rzhevitin, 4th Brigade Communications Section, Pudite OPARR Fleet zero-four,

Your message has been received and your request granted. Our forces now control roughly four miles along the dockyards of this city, pushing a mile inside. Although insurgents plague the outer districts, our beachhead is secure, and there you will be safe.

We have dispatched two platoons of mechanized Grazskar to meet you, and guide you back through the city to our position.

Good luck...

Skgorria
08-02-2007, 14:46
After the Skgorrian troops had completed their infiltration, they had moved inland past the city of Bakdash and concealed themselves in a copse, waiting for further instructions. Their initial orders had been made redundant by the Pudite invasion and thus the platoon's commander had moved them away from the city where they had observed the destruction of Bakdash from their hidden OP outside of the city with a mixture of feelings - jealousy and awe.
"Damn," muttered the platoon's sargeant, "that's some awesome firepower. It's like watching the whole of Special Action Division and Babykiller in action at once." He passed the field glasses to the platoon's Storm-Lieutenant, who took them and cast his gaze over the Pudite formations. Already several helicopters had swept overhead, and whilst the Special Action Unit men had eliminated a couple of isolated insurgents, they had not actively seeked an engagement. The Storm-Lieutenant was worried that his troops would be mistaken for insurgents and killed, and so he lowered the field glasses and turned to the sargeant.
"We're going to alert the Pudites to our presence."
The sargeant raised an eyebrow, "is that wise sir? Our orders were to remain undetected until.."
"Our orders changed the minute Pudite troops hit the beach," interrupted the Storm-Lieutenant, "we're making contact." He dialed his radio into a frequency that the SAU knew the Pudites used and broadcasted.
"Attention Pudite forces, this is Storm-Lieutenant Gorobets of Special Action Unit 209. We are located at position xxy east of Bakdash and are requesting permission to come in, over."

First Brigade, Bakdash Beachhead, Another Rears its Head
Kiprian Arzubiev, officer in charge of the Bekdash operation, was resting now in his personal bunker-tent hybrid, serving him until the prefabricated buildings could be completely unloaded. He was alone now, save for his 2iC, whose headquarters was set up just outside his door, and that is where he heard it first, "Yeah, General Arzubiev is in his quarters, he's alone now,"

For it had been rather quiet for the last few hours of night, as the insurgents fell back against the superior night senses of their Pudite adversaries. Arzubiev knew that in four hours, when the sun rose, it would begin all over again. He wanted only to rest, but that was not to be so. At that moment a familiar face entered through the tent-flap opposite him, and stood at attention.

Arzubiev sat upright, and gave a half-hearted salute to his subordinate, who took it as the clear to speak, "Sir, I am Captain Rzhevitin, of-"

The Major General cut him off, "Yes, I remember. Now, what is your business this time?"

"Ah, yes sir. Sir, we've received a second communication,"

"From the Griffincrest fellows again?"

"No sir, a second unit. These ones have been identified as Skgorrian. We've had peaceful contact before, though brief,"

"I know of Skgorria, Captain. What do they want..."

"Sir, they've requested permission to enter the beachhead. Right now they're a little inland of us, to the east. They've requested no escort, and they seem competent, if they've been here longer than we have, alone, for we did not see them enter in the last few days."

Arzubiev stood upright and flexed his back, shaking off the weariness of sleep, "Alright then, Captain, let them in too... Damn, how many of these little squads are out there!"

The Captain saluted again, and left the room to deliver his message to the Skgorrian troop. A Pudite pathfinder would locate them once they entered the city, and lead them through Pudite roadblocks and into the beachhead, where they would be housed.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the city, eight large SIV-25s rolled forward, flanked by the lighter LV-08s, steamrollering any obstacle and disregarding all but the most determined foe, which would undoubtedly then receive a burst of 30mm ammunition... These platoons were bound for the other group of foreign mercenaries, and their commander, a Lieutenant by the name of Chasek, rode at the head of the column, keeping his eyes fixed on the LSD screens covering the panels of the inside of the SIV-25, watching for any sign of his objective.

The following message was sent to the Skgorrian special operations soldiers;

Storm-Lieutenant Gorobets of Special Action Unit 209, this is Captain Maksimko Rzhevitin, 4th Brigade Communications Section, Pudite OPARR Fleet zero-four,

We have received your message, and have chosen to allow you access to our beachhead. Our forces now control a four mile stretch along the dockyards of this city, as well as pushing a mile inland all along. Although insurgents plague the outer districts, our beachhead is secure, and there you will be safe.

Once you enter the city, you should make contact with a lone operative of ours, Pathfinder Dmitrei Cherkasov. He will be waiting for you, and will lead you through our occupied zone safely, without incident.

Good luck...

"I got through!" whispered the Storm-Lieutenant happily, grinning wildly. "Okay everyone, fall in," he whispered and gestured for all of the SAU men to gather round to brief the troopers beneath the star-lit canopy.
"I've contacted the Pudites, and they've allowed us to come into their beachhead. They stated that they control an area four miles wide and a mile deep, except for Bakdash which is still contested towards the outer areas. We are to make contact with a pathfinder by the name of..." Gorobets quickly checked his notes, "Dmitrei Cherkasov. By my reckoning, we still have a few hours of night left and that ought to be enough time to cross into the outskirts of the city. With luck, the insurgents will be too busy running and dying to notice our arrival," Gorobets quipped, and he noticed many of the troops smirking as well. "Once we've reached outer Bakdash, we'll press forward until we find Cherkasov and then present ourselves. Keep your radios clear and listen in for any Corporate Alliance forces as well. Move out in 2," he saluted and dismissed. As the platoon packed up any equipment they had taken out, Gorobets sent a message to the Pudites.

Captain Maksimko Rzhevitin, 4th Brigade Communications Section, Pudite OPARR Fleet zero-four, this is Storm-Lieutenant Gorobets of Special Action Unit 209. We are leaving cover now and will reach the outskirts of the city just before sunrise. Will contact the Pathfinder when at the city.

Cautiously, the platoon edged out of the copse and began to trek towards Bakdash, which was brilliantly lit by explosions and fires. To a couple of the younger and less-experience Skgorrians, it seemed as if they were advancing into hell itself. To the older troopers, it was just another day at work. Any time the unit encountered a large body of insurgents, they would hide or avoid them: the time for bloodshed would come later.

3rd Company's 3rd Platoon of the 1st Battalion, 1st Brigade, Pathfinder Dmitrei Cherkasov
Dmitrei picked his way through the alleyways of the city carefully, for this far out from the beachhead, even his brothers had not tread. This was firmly insurgent-controlled space.

Despite his being a newcomer to the area here, however, he knew exactly where he was going. Earlier that night he had been transmitted a series of aerial photos of the entire city, and could now track his progress with a bird's eye view.

Hoisting his 8.12mm suppressed rifle, known as the Type IV Sniper, he silently lifted his two-hundred and thirty pound form and stepped out onto the sidewalk. Scanning the surrounding area in both night vision and a thermal spectrum viewer, he spotted no danger. Setting off on a slow jog down the side of the street, he passed gutted cars and burning buildings of every sort... Even if the infantry had never made it out this far, the air force sure had...

At the end of the road he spotted a still-standing building, an old two-story stone building. Although it was heavily stained by fire and nearby bomb blasts, the bricks and mortar stood, and that was all he needed. Quickly navigating the collapsed sections on the lower level, he took up a nice vantage point on a small balcony on the second floor. From here he could see straight down three of the four streets of the intersection here, and that fourth road he knew to be clear, at least for now, for he had just passed that way.

Bringing his rifle up to his shoulder, he watched the three roads carefully at the rifles five-times zoom level. The Skgorrians would have to cross one of these roads, according to their last known position. He would wait for them here...

First Brigade, Bakdash Outskirts, Bringing Them In...
Lieutenant Chasek greeted the foreigners, his voice seeming almost mechanical when compared so directly to an outsider's voice. "The insurgency is thick in these areas of the city, it is true, although no small amount of it could have anything to do with the fact that our navy recently finished leveling four square miles of their city..."

The Pudite armored carriers pulled to a halt beside the mercenaries, and Chasek spoke, "In regards to your request, we are sorry but our vehicles are almost entirely filled. We do have open six spaces in a pair of LV-08s," he pointed across the small field towards the wheeled light infantry vehicles, "Because our pathfinders are currently operating and did not make this journey, but that is all we can offer,"

The Skgorrian forces advanced through the deserted streets, rifles in their shoulders and scanning around for any sign of the enemy. All they had seen so far was the devastation wrought by the Pudite military machine. Buildings had collapsed, few windows were left intact and a few flames still burned admist the ruins of the city. The flames played tricks on the eyes of the troops, and made them grow even more paranoid. They were advancing into a potentially hostile city in which it would be ridiculosly easy to spring an ambush on the SAU men.
"Crossroad up ahead" radioed the pointman as the platoon moved in double-file down the road towards a relatively intact two-storey building.
"Roger that" replied Gorobets, letting his rifle drop in the sling as he adjusted his radio to the Pudite frequency.
"Pathfinder Dmitrei Cherkasov, this is Gorobets of Special Action Unit 209. We're in the outskirts and working towards the centre, I hope."

Pudite Occupation of Barudii, Command of Major General Arzubiev, It Ends Before it Begins
Major General Arzubiev, commander of Bakdash and Pudite operations in Barudii thus far, had just received what could be the most important message of his career so far. Barudii offered surrender...

He had dispatched messages and was in the process of gathering his nine battalion commanders here. This proposal, it was perfect. He had no need to contact his superiors, this was what the Dominion had come for. Barudii a colony, perfect...

There was only one thing that bothered him, or rather, two things. The Skgorrians and the Griffincrest mercenaries. What had they come here for, and would they accept leaving without it? They, or at least their commanders, would have to be present when this news was unveiled. Good thing they were both on there way here anyway.

In any case, Pudite aggressive operations had been put on hold, and for the next couple hours all operations would be purely defensive actions, as the insurgents picked up their attacks as the sun appeared over the horizon.

Meanwhile, on the opposite side of the city, things were progressing as planned. Dmitrei Cherkasov peered down the western road, and as he did so, finally laid eyes on what he was waiting for. The Skgorrian's point man crossed the road quickly, keeping out of sight of the locals, but not evading the trained Pudite's eyes. At that same moment, he was forwarded a radio message from the same, and so chose now to make contact.

Standing to his full nearly seven foot height, he walked to the edge of the balcony and, shouldering his rifle, stepped off and fell the twelve feet to the pavement where he landed with a shattering crash, creating a small crater where his feet impacted.

He immediately stood and fell into a quick jog down the road to the Skgorrians. He, and they, would have to leave the area quickly. That noise would draw insurgents from all around, and he had just received, alongside the Skgorrian message, new orders. He had to get back to the beachhead quickly, as in, less than an hour to cross five miles of rebel-filled streets.

Lieutenant Chasek and his mechanized platoons would have the Griffincrest mercenaries and their officer back into Pudite-held territory in under ten minutes, supposing everyone would fit into the convoy, and Major General Arzubiev had stressed the need to return as soon as was possible, although nobody knew why yet...

"Alright, then I guess that we can roof it" Redbreast said, and then ordered six of his men, one of them with a sprained ankle from the paradrop, into the Pudite vehicles. The remaining men climbed up on top of the Mercury's, three on the second vehicle and three on the fifth.

"Lets move out boys"

With that, the Mercury's roared to life, prepared to follow the Pudite's back to base.

Occupied Bakdash, 1st and 2nd Platoon, 1st Battalion's 3rd Company
As the foreign mercenaries loaded up, the Pudite vehicles roared back to life and pulled around and began thundering back towards the Pudite base. The four LV-08s, with the platoon commanders as well as some of the foreign mercenaries, raced back to the beachhead, moving at speeds sometimes approaching sixty-miles an hour down the cratered and rubble-strewn streets, handling perfectly.

At one point the lead vehicle even hit a mine, and doing nothing more than lift the light truck up a few inches, the LV-0 sped on. This was what the vehicle was designed to do, and why the Emperor had chosen it for his military.

Behind the speeding LIVs the SIV-25s moved at a more reasonable pace, to allow for the foreigners clutching the roof of their own vehicles, although not going slow enough to make these men an active target. Passing through the more dangerous outskirts there were numerous small firefights, although through the marksmanship of the roof'd mercenaries and the firepower of the Pudite vehicles, many a building was leveled. The missile pods on the side of the armored personnel carriers were nearly empty when the column finally pulled into the beachhead.

At this point the platoons were halted as Major General Arzubiev himself met them only a few hundred yards from the front lines. With him was the 1st battalion’s commander, Lieutenant Colonel Rodosav Putinchin. Both stood in front of a fifth LV-08. The officers greeted the men as they unloaded, and Arzubiev addressed the mercenary commander, "Greetings, it has been long since I have laid eyes on one of the foreigners, in peaceful circumstances, that is,"

Arzubiev stepped forward to shake the man's hand, a custom unusual by Pudite standards, but known to be common to outsiders. As he did so, he continued, "Your men will be provided with barracks and good food, but in the meantime, there is something very urgent we must discuss with you, at length. This is Lieutenant Colonel Rodosav Putinchin, and he will be joining us, as will eight further men of his rank, as well as a second foreigner. I assume you knew that there were Skgorrian operatives working in this area? Well, they too will be arriving shortly, and when they arrive, we may begin,"

Arzubiev offered Coordinator Gaius Redbreast a seat in the armored patrol truck, while Rodosav entered the driver’s seat, set the beast's engine to running. "Really, we must hurry, this front is still dangerous,"

Gaius took off his helmet and took the seat. He leaned in and returned the handshake, then began to ask about the whole operation in Barudii.

"I honestly didn't know anyone else was in country till after we landed. How many other countries sent men?"

Without waiting for an answer, he went on.

"And what exactly are you here for? I assume colonization, correct?"

Pudite Occupation of Barudii, Command of Major General Arzubiev, It Ends Before it Begins
Mj. General Arzubiev replied to his foreign counterpart, speaking as the LV-08 began its slow but determined crawl over the loose rubble heaps. At about twenty miles an hour, the sturdy little truck topped out, and Arzubiev spoke, "Firstly, our intelligence right now shows us at least two other nationalities, including a detachment of Skgorrian special operations soldiers, currently being recovered. The second, a good sized force of Krapickstani peacekeepers on the borders, I assume you noticed on the way in,"

He paused at the other question, and gave a light laugh before responding, "You are correct. The peacekeeping was our way in, as it has been so many times before... You now see," he waved his hand at the massive rubble flats, "The handiwork of only a dozen of the Imperial Navy's ships, and fortunately, it was enough. In three days a much larger force, including more than a thousand combat ships and hundreds of thousands of Strelkovy marine infantry, will land, and the operation will be complete,"

"For now, however, our objective is not the occupation, as it was once before, but securing what we have and negotiating with agreeable elements in the revolution are what we've come to. All this is due, entirely, to the fact that only about a half an hour before you arrived, the country of Barudii was, in its entirety, surrendered to the Emperor."

He looked out the window for a moment, and then back to his counterpart, "Barudii is Pudite, and that is the matter that needs discussing,"

Your nation, although offering substantial help in subduing the rebellious populace, you will be asked to leave upon conclusion of operations here. Your nation will not be allowed to maintain any presence here, let alone a naval base. Your request for an embassy will be taken up with the Barudiian government upon their taking control.

For the next week you will continue operations. After that, we will take command and our soldiers will have arrived to replace yours. Thank you for your help.

"We came here to secure the Barudiian oil fields. Is there any way that we can work out an agreement of some sort?"

Dmitrei Cherkasov, Bakdash Outskirts, Bringing Them In...Dmitrei walked up to the group of Skgorrians, appearing to give them each a quick look-over before he addressed the commander, "Welcome, Gorobets, to Pudite Bakdash..." he said, his voice flat, seeming almost mechanical in its steadiness.

He continued, "We're at the far edge of the city from our beachhead, the march should take two and a half hours, if we keep pace," At that he turned away from them again, setting off on a quick jog down the sidewalk once more, "These streets are layered in insurgents, try and keep quiet," He shouted back.

Other than his voice, he carried his two-hundred plus pound frame silently, his pistol drawn and held at the ready by his side.

Mj. General Arzubiev was surprised to hear that the foreigner had fought before with his countrymen, and looked at him with a new respect. He responded, however, with the same steady, emotionless voice common to all his kinsmen, "Well, Gaius, the matter of your goals is the purpose of this meeting. We can discuss this further when we begin..."

With that he paused a second, and looking down as the coordinator offered him the cigarette, "What... is that?" He gave it a strange look, then glanced back up, "Ah, no matter! We're here,"

Arzubiev hopped out of the truck gracefully as it skidded to a stop in the loose stones, and stood to the side as Colonel Rodosav climbed out and came around. Behind them stood a simple canvas tent, roughly sixty feet square inside, where the other officers were waiting...

The nation of Krapickstan did indeed aid our Dominion in the occupation and suppression of unwanted rebel violence, and so, if you should so choose, you may initiate diplomatic relations. An embassy and consulates are authorized wherever your government and theirs should choose.

Also, in three days our main occupation force will arrive, and although those soldiers themselves will not remain, their number will be replaced, and in addition to these five-hundred thousand soldiers, we shall place here a small detachment of aircraft, a small force of ships, as well as a high-ranking officer of each of those individual branches, to act as advisors for your own independent military.

More importantly, however, we will be importing a pair of diplomatic advisors, a Mr. White, a trained and practiced foreign affairs officer, as well as a Mr. Grey, one of our foreign personnel officers.

In three days a congress will be held, including our nation, yours, as well as one or more officer representing some other, less obvious, involved parties.

Good day,

Surely shouting is entirely contrary to being silent? mused Gorobets briefly, before disregarding such irrelevant thoughts and moving to the matter at hand. Raising his right arm all the way up and raising his left arm only half way, the SAU 209 troops moved back into double file and stuck close to the buildings, ready to duck into cover if any attack happened. The troopers were not as silent as the Pudite, but their years of training and experience helped. Rifles were lowered to allow the troopers to run faster, but in the event of an attack they would be able to respond quickly.

Gaius smiled alittle bit before he spoke. "Its a cigarette, you smoke them" he said before he lit his own and took a puff. He then followed the men out of the truck and saw his own men unloading from their vehicles as well. The Mercury crews were ordered to stay in their vehicles in case insurgents strike, and the mercenaries were all ordered to be ready for an attack. The Pudites had gotten the coordinator to believe that attacks were going to be far more frequent than they probably were, and so he was not going to take chances.

Redbreast than walked into the tent that the others had gone into and looked around. "So how much longer you think we are gunna have to wait?" he asked, sounding tired and impatient.

Dmitrei Cherkasov, Bakdash Outskirts, Bringing Them In...
Dmitrei, leading the Skgorrians through the ruined cityscape, kept up his slow jog for roughly two hours. As the morning sun began to rise, painting the city a deep red tint, the small group could begin to make out the sounds of gunfire up ahead.

Dmitrei kept up his pace for the next fifteen minutes before stopping, suddenly, at the edge of a small building. Just around that corner he knew the edge of the rubble barrier sat, manned almost certainly by an entire platoon of Legionnaires. It was not a clear road, however, and the next city block housed, as the sounds were evidence of, a large number of insurgents.

The pathfinder turned to the Skgorrians behind him, and spoke, “Alright, our objective is only a block away, just down this road,” he gestured, “However, it is not unguarded. From the sounds, it appears that there are somewhere between twenty and a hundred rebels between us and where we are headed.”

“This leaves us two options; we could turn back, move around the block, and arrive unharmed, if late. The second choice is simple; we go forward. Our Dominion can aid us here, artillery and airpower wait patiently for my call, armored vehicles and my kindred wait at the edge of this gauntlet, more than capable of supporting us, you are obviously competent warriors. This is your choice; I will merely lead you through it…”

Pudite Occupation of Barudii, Command of Major General Arzubiev, It Ends Before it Begins
Arzubiev gave another guarded look to the small white cylinder the foreigner had offered, and ignored it. Replying to the officer’s questions, he said “I am not certain, entirely. I have received scattered reports, I believe the rest of our party to be somewhere between half an hour and forty-five minutes away, approaching the edge of the rubble flats, and safety,”

He stepped into the large gray canvas tent, dominated by a long table with folded out legs and similarly portable padded steel chairs set up around it. The eight battalion commanders stood as their general entered. Arzubiev walked to the far end of the table, where four seats remained empty. The general took the head of the table, Colonel Rodosav chose a chair on his left, leaving the two next to his commander empty.

Arzubiev offered to Gaius the seat on his right, “All that remains now is the final member of our little congress…”

Gorobets thought briefly, then stated his decision.
"We'll run the gauntlet," he stated with a steely tone in his voice, "no sodding insurgents can stop a Skgorrian from his task. If you can, call an artillery strike on the building, then as soon as the shell hits we'll make a run for it. We'll be ready," he grinned, cocking his rifle and chambering a round. The entire platoon repeated the process, some even making their secondary weapons ready.

Dmitrei Cherkasov, Bakdash Outskirts, Bringing Them In...
Dmitrei nodded to the foreigner, slung his rifle back across his back and drew his sidearm. Bowing his head, he touched his hand to his temple for a moment, silently.

Roughly a mile away a section comprised of fifteen 105mm field howitzers received a message, a series of coordinates, and a request. Seconds later the first salvo was loosed, firing at a high angle, then, a second volley, and a third. Each launched at progressively lower angles, producing an effect which would land all forty-five rounds on the target buildings at once.

Dmitrei turned back up to the squad... "You may want to duck..." At his side, his large gloved hands began a silent countdown... three... two...

The rounds landed, shattering a pair of buildings, their hundreds of pounds of high-explosive tearing through the concrete and throwing debris everywhere. Even as they landed Dmitrei leapt to his feet, and without turning or giving any signal to those he lead, took off on a breakneck sprint down the sidewalk. He no longer had any desire for stealth, and his footfalls created depressions in the asphalt and concrete.

As the dust settled the buildings all around opened up, their sides illuminated in the fading cloud of debris by the flash of dozens of automatic and semi-automatic fire. Dmitrei ignored, for the most part, the rounds landing around him, his pistol held at the ready by his side. He ran, pieces of brick and mortar chipping before and behind, and in many cases his own body impacted by automatic fire. His armor absorbed the rounds heartily, and he continued his run.

The Skgorrian's would follow, hopefully...

The entire platoon ducked in instinct upon hearing the detonation of the artillery shells, but Gorobets leaped up and followed the Pudite.
"Follow me men!" He yelled as he raced into the smoke and bullets, not turning around to see if his men were following him but closely following Cherkasov. Sure enough, the other SAU 209 men were following closely behind, not bothering to shoot at the buildings as there were no visible targets and instead focused on running as fast as they could. Debris was thrown up into the faces of the Skgorrians as rounds impacted the ground and buildings around them, but their eyes were protected by goggles and the SAU 209 men kept up their pace. One of the troops pitched forward with a cry after a round slammed into his back and two of his following comrades reacted quickly by grabbing the man and half-lifting him.
"Run, damn you!" spat one of the soldiers and the wounded man began to feebly move his legs. The Skgorrians would hopefully be out of danger soon

Dmitrei Cherkasov, Bakdash Outskirts, Bringing Them In...
Dmitrei, his body pock-marked by nearly a dozen bullet wounds to the armor, kept up his breakneck pace as he continued down the final hundred or so meters of the sprint. As the insurgent fire increased after the shooters regained their bearings after the strike.

As Cherkasov continued, he raised his arms, pointing the pistol at the buildings... Nine forty-five caliber rounds left the gun, nine rounds impacted five insurgents, and five men ceased to live.

He neared the end of the street, the fire continued to increase, their accuracy improving and the volume rising, he sprinted, faster and faster...

And then he was there. At the very end of the street, Cherkasov managed a leap, clearing a meter and a half of rubble and slid to a halt behind the barrier. A few meters beyond that, twenty of his kinsmen stood clustered around a pair of bulky, SIV-25 infantry fighting vehicles.

They released their own salvo of fire, to scatter the insurgents. It failed, but it made them think about it for a moment, and that gave them all the chance they needed. An equally large sergeant emerged, "Pathfinder, you and your men are supposed to load up," he gestured to the vehicles behind him, "Hurry up, we're still under fire!"

The Grazskar formed a light perimeter at the rubble pile, as their countrymen in this operation were apparently wont to do. The pair of IFVs would take off in a few minutes, bound safely for the rear command point. They had made it, and now the war was over...

The wounded Skgorrian stopped moving his legs and slumped. His comrades dropped him and continued their run. The SAU 209 man was dead, and there was no point in dragging useless flesh at the expense of their own lives. The casualty was not carrying any sensitive information or data, and nothing useful would be derived from his corpse, especially as the last Skgorrian to pass the body dropped a small grenade onto the corpse that would explode in two minutes time and removing all trace of the man's presence in Barudii. The platoon kept on running, now taking potshots at muzzle flashes in a desperate attempt to keep the volume of fire down. One man screamed as the bottom half of his left arm was shot off, but doggedly grabbed the stump and staggered on.
"Friendlies!" screamed Gorobets when he saw the Pudites and their vehicles in both a shout of joy and as an indicator that the Skgorrians were not hostile. The Pudite's fire was a welcome sight and sound, and it gave the Skgorrians a second wind as they scrambled over the barrier with far less grace than Cherkasov and into the comparitive safety of the Pudite perimeter. He saw a large figure who he assumed was in charge and popped off a quick salute,
"Introductions can wait for now, which vehicle am I putting my men in?" Whilst Gorobets was conducting this conversation, the other Skgorrians were taking cover and firing down the street at the insurgents. The rattle of automatic fire was puncuated by explosions as several SAU 209 troopers chose to fire their underslung grenade launchers into the buildings.

Repeating this process, soon the entire platoon was on their feet and clambering into the vehicles under the watchful eye of Gorobets. Pudite OPARR Fleets off shore, The Newcomer, The Defense of a Colony
The Dominion was indeed one to support rampant imperialism. In fact, that was what they were exercising here, in Barudii. Now, however, an unidentified tiny nation had decided that they too should be given a piece of the newly Pudite pie. That just doesn't happen.

The OPARR fleets off the coast of Bakdash would respond, and the foreigners would die. First of all, their forces on the ground would have to be dealt with, and for this, the Emperor had the perfect weapon. As the VLS tubes all across the fleet heated up, commanders inside the ships plotted the course of the missiles, aimed directly at the enemy’s newest base camp. In seconds the decks nearly every ship in the armada would become a forest of smoke pillars, as the land attack missiles of the fleet left for their targets.

Of these missiles there would be three-thousand, three-hundred and fifty-four, all slicing through the air at speeds exceeding mach three, and all bearing a warhead that could bring two-hundred kilograms of high explosive down on a specific target. Not all, however, would be doing that. Fully half of the missiles in the mass would not be armed with explosives, but with chemicals. These warheads would each bear a rather large, compressed, load of the weaponized chemical known as the "Night Lord's Urine", purchased in very, very large quantities from the premiere international chemical weapons designers, those of Jenrak. This gas was not deadly, no. Its effects were far worse than that. As the clear gas spread out through the camp, if even the smallest, trace amounts, found its way into your eyes, its elements would deposit themselves inside the victim’s optic nerve and behind the retina. These underdeveloped proteins would nearly instantly blind even the healthiest man, rendering the entire force futile. The best part of the attack was, however, the fact that they wouldn't know, literally, what hit them. As the missiles fell, explosions all around, and the gas emerges, blinding all it touches, moving without master and by the whims of the wind alone...

As if more than three-hundred and thirty five thousand pounds of high explosive and tons of a virulent chemical weren’t enough, the Dominion had more. Forty of the most advanced air superiority fighters available, the F-78K Strakhen Sokol set off from the decks of the fleet's aircraft carriers, and moved to secure the airspace above these invaders, to deny them both of supplies and to provide them with some munitions... frightening end first...

Following under the protection of these fighters were ten equally advanced E/F-177A Coldun Electronic Warfare and Ground Attack Planes, equipped with some larger land-attack missiles, as well as a whole array of guided bombs.

Hundreds upon thousands of pounds of explosives and poisonous gas were raining down upon the foreigner's supposed 'defenses'. They would learn quickly that they were not welcome, and they would not forget...

SIV-25 Armored Patrol, Bakdash Beachhead, Bringing Them In...
The pair of lumbering vehicles roared to their top speed over the loose terrain, and in a few seconds time they were cruising, roughly, over the rubble flats outside the Pudite beachhead at a steady twenty-something miles an hour.

After a few minutes the vehicles began to slow, eventually pulling onto a steel grate 'roadway' that ran along the coast, and there they stopped. The ride was uneventful, but short, and now they were here.

Dmitrei hopped down off the top of the second SIV, where he had ridden the last few minutes, and pulled down the exit ramps as they were powered open, beckoning the foreign soldiers out.

As their commander exited, Dmitrei addressed him, "You're wanted in the tent," he gestured to the large half-destroyed building, half canvas tent between them and the sea, "The rest of your men can wait outside, wait with the other foreigners," He gestured again, this time at a small circle of Griffincrest mercenaries milling about near the entrance to the tent...

"Sir," began the younger soldier, "I was just thinking about Storm-Corporal Fenstermacher and..." the man could not finish the sentence as he choked back tears.
"We'll remember him later," stated Gorobets as he clapped the glum-looking Storm-Private on the shoulder in an effort to cheer him up. The Storm-Private gave a faint smile, then jogged over to join the rest of the platoon outside of the tent.
"Wait here," he ordered the SAU 209 soldiers as he strode into the tent. He saw a collection of officers and soldiers - he recognised the Pudite uniforms, but the other uniform continued to evade him. Looks familiar...can't place it...wait! Griffencrest! The Barudiian government-in-control have surrendered their functions to us, in return for us allowing them to stay in the current technological age,"

Arzubiev turned to his foreign guests, "Although, upon discovering that my soldiers are not the only soldiers in the damn country, it has become apparent that it would be unfair to our foreign friends here," he pointed at the Skgorrian and mercenary officers, "To simply annex the entire country as a colony of the Emperor."

"I have been alerted to the natural resource output of the country, and although we would have to insist that some remain in Barudiian, and thus Pudite, hands, we would like to offer to you what we can. This country has extensive textile production capacity, crude oil reserves, and natural gas deposits,"

"Small plots of land and access to the natural resources of the nation are what I offer you to compensate for your involvement here, what do you say?"

Storm-Lieutenant Gorobets had only just realised what was going on. This wasn't a conference of allied officers to discuss war planning, this was dividing the spoils of war. I don't have clearance for this! Gorobets mentally panicked, though despite his mental turmoil his face was set in stone and not betraying any emotions. Taking several seconds to steady his voice, Gorobets spoke.
"We are grateful that you are giving us access to land and resources. Not to seem insulting, but just how large are these plots of land? I only ask so I can report specifics to my commanders."

"Well Gentlemen, I believe that you know what we came here for. What will it take to control the oil of this nation?" the coordinator said as he straightened himself up in his chair.

"You can keep all the land, all that we ask for is the oil."

Arzubiev responded to the Skgorrian, "Well, the country itself is only about four-hundred and ninety thousand kilometers square, so these plots of land will most likely encompass only a few hundred kilometers. There are extensive oil fields here in the west, as well as natural gas reserves covering the whole nation, a demand for perhaps a small percentage of either would not be turned down. Land itself is not beyond us, either. Military and trade facilities could be established."

He turned to the Girffincrest coordinator, "Although the whole of the oil reserves is out of the question, perhaps fifteen to twenty percent of the export could be arranged,"
