"What the heck is that, Dora?" A tall man stood in his driveway at 9:13 AM on a chilly Sunday morning and stared up into the sky. A small blip that looked like a falling asteroid kept funneling towards the ground. It was rare that anything like this would be seen in the Sephestian province of Geneticon. It was pretty rare that anything happened out here.

Dora turned to her husband and found his face strangely confounded. She looked where he was looking, and saw the sight herself. It was getting closer now, dangerously closer. Frightening.

Suddenly, it flew in with a terrifying rage. The missile's exhaust could be heard as it roared toward the street a block away. With a deafening crash, it slammed into the ground. A shockwave threw the couple to their knees. "What in the--" was all the man could get out, before the effect began.

The two started choking. Gagging actually. Seemingly grasping for more air, and shivering up and down their spine. They fell to their sides and felt their bodies go cold to the touch. In a matter of seconds, they were dead. Just semi-frozen corpses on the side of a Geneticon city, and the bodies around the missile had fared no better.

Every human within a half a mile of the impact was dead in a matter of about forty-five seconds.

It was the effect of the chemical weapon Frost.

Josephine Rush lay in her bed deep in the Palace. She had been tired these past few weeks, but certainly not bored. In fact, she wasn't in bed alone... together with someone for the first time since her inauguration a few weeks ago. Her husband's death had been a shock to her, but she had gotten up and stood on her own two feet once more, and she shared none of the ideals that her husband had.

She didn't have to... she was the Empress after all.

She lay there, but couldn't sleep. Something didn't seem right. She didn't know why, but something felt wrong. She pulled herself out of bed and put on her bathrobe, then walked slowly to the door, and exited the room, careful not to wake Mike.

She made her way down the hall and walked into the conference room. Here were gathered some of the most influential men and women in the country, but none so influential as the woman who walked in with bathrobe. She paid their paychecks, or atleast gave them the power to pay their own. She had plenty of money and power to do it.

Jennifer Todd, the Secretary of Homeland Security was pouring over some files and speaking rapidly with a few of the other cabinet members that were up at this time in the morning. There were few up at 9:30 AM.

"What's going on Jen?"

"Empress, bad news... a Frost Missile was just used on our soil. Initial casualty estimates are around 6,000 dead."

Jo was taken totally by suprised. She stumbled to the nearest chair and fell into it. "The media already have this story all over the news I bet... all International people groups will know of this atrocity. I can't believe you actually let it happen..."

The Premier looked up at a rather large screen, on it, a news flash from some small, imperial nation. He was uninterested at first, until the story began to be told.

"Earlier today," began the reporter, "a missile of unknown origin has struck the Sephestian province in the nation, Geneticon. Apperantly a chemical weapon that induces actually freezes the victims was used. As we can see the horrifying aftermath of this attack. We are so far waiting for more details."

Mondol turned to his Foreign Minister. "Grisal! What the hell is going on there? Get the Geneticonian empress on the line!"
"Aye sir!" Grisal proceeded to call the Geneticonian government.

OOC: Geneticon is actually a fairly large nation... over 1 billion population. However, my nation was deleted for some reason and I had to rebuild my account with a new nation. Just wanted to give you the heads up. There is also a new government.

IC:

The Empress stared at the news footage. She hadn't expected the attack today... this quick. It was a horrible tragedy... or was it a necessary loss? It would soon be known. After all, she hadn't fired the missile... but someone else had. The loss would be taken, and she would move ahead to deal with the problem. That was the plan after all.

What had they done?? Six Thousand dead!?! That was ridiculous. There would be consequences.

"I can't believe it."

"We can't either Empress..."

"This is horrendous."

An aide walked to the room and stopped at the door. "Excuse me, phone, for the Empress..."

"Thank you." Jo spoke and then grabbed the phone in front of her, hearing the click of the call connecting. "This is the Empress, who am I speaking with?"

OOC: I see. Well, population shouldn't really make a difference until we start fighting. If your nation was deated due to inactivity ask the mods to revive it for you. They can do that and the only reason they wouldn't was if it was deated for rule breaking.

IC: "Good day. This is Erusean Premier Marshal David Mondol. I am calling to confirm the status of your nation. The news only knows so much. Do you have any idea of who attacked? Or the casualties involed?" He was beginning to become very curious of what happened. Neo-Erusea was all too familiar with the devastating effects of terrorist attacks. The capital had only been attacked very recently with a "dirty bomb."

The irritated Empress spoke into the reciever, "Yes, we were hit with a missile filled with chemical weapons. We have over five thousand dead and more counting. Thank you for your interest."

Jo lifted her head up and hit the mute button on the phone for abour 3 seconds, meanwhile telling Jen, "Get Tom on the line now...." She then hit mute off and kept speaking, "Sorry about that. Yes, we're working on seeing who is behind this attack now. We are not sure of the origin."

Five thousand dead... That's nothing to sneeze at thought the Premier. "My condolenses madame, if there's any way we can assist your nation, as a gesture of good will, and rest assured I grant you that the Neo-Erusean people are in no way responsible for this attack." He muted the phone and exclaimed, "Five thousand dead. My God whoever did that is going to have it coming to them." The cabinet noticed the irritation in his voice. He was pissed. Mondol released the button and said, "Again, my condolenses."

"Thank you for the condolences that you give to me and my nation. We don't need any assistance at the present moment, but I assure you we will let you know if we need any help." The Empress spoke firmly. She wasn't about to let on like she knew anything more about this missile than she told him.

"Thank you for your call Prime Minister, stay in touch. I will make sure my Secretary of State keeps you informed." Without another word she put the phone down in it's basket. She didn't really want to extend the conversation any farther. If they wanted to talk, they could talk with Carrie. Meanwhile, she had work to do.

She stood and walked to her room. Stepping in this time louder, she walked to the corner of the room and dressed quickly. Mike awoke and stirred, but stayed in bed. Jo ignored him and walked toward the window. She stared out at the wide plains of Geneticon. It had changed so much in the past years, and even weeks.

Jo turned on her heel and headed for the door. She walked to her office and took a seat. Spinning in the chair she looked out the window again. Crazy. Frost. It had actually been used after all these years. And during her lead too...

"Carrie," she spoke to the Secretary of State that had just entered the room. "If the Erusea Prime Minister calls back... keep him occupied please. Meanwhile I want everything you got on Frost on my desk within the next hour. Have you got a hold of Tom yet?"

"No..."

"Get him now..." She was near yelling.

Jennifer Todd paced the floor before the Empress' desk. Her hands were filled with documents and files, but her mind was filled with other things. In her hair, held by her right ear was a small pencil that she always seemed to keep there. It made her comfortable that she had something to write with so close. She always wanted to write. In fact, since her childhood, she had wanted to be a writer. But of course, her relationship with Carrie had changed all that...

"Jen, will you please stop pacing..." The Empress spoke from behind her computer, making it clear to the young Geneticon woman that she should comply. She stopped on a dime and turned to face the Empress.

"Empress, I don't know how to proceed. The missile came sooner than even I expected. It seems Tom had it in his mind all along to do this... the question is who he is working with."

"Indeed." The Empress Josephine Rush replied.

"So what do we do?"

"We can't talk with him, we can't find him. No one knows anything about him. He disapeered the day my husband was murdered... likely in with the killers. Thomas Watts is a killer who must be found immediately."

"And how do we find him ma'am?" Jen said somewhat sarcastically.

Jo cocked her neck back a little and stared the woman down, "I don't like your tone. We'll find him."

---

The Empress' daughter (who shared her mother's name) stood only miles away from where the carnage had taken place. She was sure that something here was not right. Tom was supposed to have called her a few minutes ago, but he hadn't. Perhaps he had been delayed? Josephine walked slowly to the window and then grappled for cell phone from her purse. She hit a set of digits to unlock the phone and hit a speed dial number.

Putting the phone to her ear, she was frustrated to only get the machine, "This is me... leave a message."

Flipping the phone shut, she spun and walked to the stairs, and mounted the top of the ten steps with only five strides. She opened the door at the top and stepped out onto the roof of the building. In the distance the baby blue cloud was settling, and more people were dying.

These weapons were horrible, and there was only one explination. She had to get a hold of Tom immediately.

OOC: I like where this is going. Very nice thread. Have you taken my advice about the reviving nation with the mods thing?

IC: "Prime Minister?" said Mondol to himself. "Did I say that?" Behind him someone said, "No sir, I heard you say Premier Marshal."
"Do you mind?"
"Sorry sir." The man turned around with the stack of papars in his hand and left. The Premier got up and quickly said, "My God what is going on over there."
