Port Haven-Western Kanami is know to be far more conservative than
the East and even Carmina Gadalica, but what happened in one school has stunned the nation, opposes and supporters alike. J.Roberts High School in Port Haven on the West Coast, made a controversial decision to allow Gay-Straight Alliance Club. The decision was that of Principal Ben Erickson, but he was persuaded by a student, Himeko Himura (pictured right) http://www.kannaduki.net/image/himeko.jpg "This young lady marched into my office and asked, why this school doesn't have a club to promote unity?" Said Erickson. "And she also expressed concern about the constant harassment Gay and Lesbian teens were facing in the school." Himeko initially proposed an alliance club to educate and promote, but Erickson wasn't crazy about the idea, nor were a lot of parents

"I did what I felt needed to be done. I wasn't going down with out a fight." Hiumra said to us. "No I'm not Lesbian or Bi, but I firmly belive in rights and that includes the right of chosing who you love." Hemeko is also the club leader. "I just wanted a place where we can feel welcome and accepted, instead of alineated." She said

After some days of negotiations, and compromise, the Principal decided to allow the club under the main exception that sexual activity (i.e. intercorse) and pracitce isn't discussed, with out advanced consent of parents and students involved.

Some parent's weren't happy. "This sexual perversion should not be going on in our schools." Said Mother Victoria ValJohnson. "ValJohnson even took it to local court, however the case was tossed out upon the agreement of
PB#1117A which leaves the decision of education, and other subjects relating to Homosexuality up the individual schools. The National Supreme Court also refused to look at the case to reject the club in public schools.

"My hope is more schools will follow, and Kanami can become the place for equality as it's always dreamed."
