History: In 2037, the southern States of the then United States were in a crisis. The rural enviroments were being torn apart, and many of their ports were flooded with islanders that were trying to escape the destruction of their homes. This flood of new imigrants threatened the status quo, but they did show a rather dangerous threat to the future. The collapse of Earth was already in it's begining throes, and the governments of each state decided to send colonists into space. Their motivation to at least save the older cultures they held dear.
This ship was loaded with people, some may say too beyond it's capacity. Many from the islands joined, though only thoughs with specific skills that might be needed. THe ship left, one of the last to leave the homeworld.
THe ship was older than most, one of the test ships that had been created for Jump 1 technology. The specilists aboard were too few, and the ship lost it's heading, going into a much more remote region of the colonies.
The ship's landing could be best described as a controlled crash. Only a few died, luckily, though the colonists found that their equipment was woefully inadequete for the task at hand. The government took control, many of the colonists being bureaucrats. Thankfully the skilled islands were able to help in the creation, though their own conservatism didn't help the already conservative nature of the population.
Now, Sukiaida is extremelly isolationist. The people's term of fun something they can only remember from a century ago. The world they arrived in is earthlike, but has less water. It's rationed out by a government that gives people a sort of freedom, under traditional mores. The isolated outpost of SUkiaida enjoys it's isolation, it's more cozy that way.

OOC: When looking at your thread, I couldn't help but notice how many ships you have. For example, 25 Armored Cruisers should cost $32.5 Trillion, and 20 Battlecruisers should cost $28 Trillion, which when added together equal more than your entire Pre-Game Defense Budget. That is not to mention the cost of all the other stuff. I may be missing something, but it looks like you have way too many ships.

The ship cascaded into the water, the waves blowing against his face. The colonists had saved the old ship. By now it had been almost 200 years since the Yorktown sailed against the Japanese. The colonists had taken her out of the Museum in Charleston, and stuff her on board the colony ship. She'd been damaged during the landing, but they'd quickly remodeled her, and now she was considered a living musuem of the past.
Many of the operators saw her as their ship. And to tell the truth, he knew that she'd seen many crews before. Now, she remained at port. Waves were caused by passing ships, no moon meant that tidal currents were alot lighter on their new planet. It also didn't help that the ocean was much smaller here than back on Earth. A few people looked at that with trepidation. Water rationing wasn't horrible, but it still existed. Sigh, maybe he'd be able to go take a break today. The government allowance wasn't that large for anyone. But then again the government monitored costs, so nothing cost much either. Of course his entire paycheck went to the government, and we was only allowed a small remainder, returned to him each month. That he could spend on himself. SIgh, what a day.

The SSS Atlanta flew through space, it's crew preparing for the jump. Her pilots were ansy, they'd been left to their own system for awhile now. This was the first time they didn't stay in their own system. It made them nervous.

Sukiaida watches the war with interest from the news reports New Shinron sends out. It's scary, many of the citiziens frightened that their neighbors might be dragged into the war. And that would mean trouble for the isolated worlds.
THose living in the outposts look towards the fleets of the nation. Finding them lacking in size to the rest of the worlds. Many gulp at the thought that the other nations might have the ability to overthrow their system. After all 13 fleets in one battle. THat's only 2 Fighter Wings short of the entire fighter capability of the fleet.
