History

Cuba, the main Central American island, had a rocky history. Having recently kicked its Spanish oppresors out the door (ditto with Haiti and the Dominican Republic with the French), the Central America's received independence via minor help from the U.S. However, The People saw this as a crude attempt for U.S. expansion, and thre out the US agressors before they could annex the recently independent nation.

So, a clean plate for the nations. The three nations agreed to unite themselves against the Capitalista oppressors they had hated for centures. A strong community where everyone was equal was set up, a so called Communista soceity. The Central American Union was formed in 1895, and however weakened by decades of war, was keen to grow and strengthen itself.

Government:

Head of State: José Martí
Assistant to Head of State: Tomás Estrada Palma

Below these two main figures, every commune has its own advisors, and are headed by a Head of Advisors, at the central Fulcrum at Havana. Each commune is given Industrial, Agricultural and Cultural goals by the head Advisors, and are rewarded on reaching these targets. This is seen as a fair system, and is designed to work for all the people.

Economy:

The economy of the CAU is weak after the wars. A swiftly growing Industrial sector is following the industrial revolutions started by many other nations around the world. The Agriculture sector is as strong as ever, and has stopped growth temporarily. Financially, Cuba tends to trade in goods other than money. This makes Cuba internally strong, but weak in the global financial market.

Military

Army:

A small, professional force after the surge in arms after the revolution, the Army rarely exceeds 52,938 men, with around 48,257 Reserves. Currently looking to modernise and not expand.

Navy:

A small navy, the Cuban navy is seeing the most development of all, and is looking to grow, hopefully supporting the expansion of Socialism into more of the America's. Currently consists of one Cruiser, five Frigate-like Ships and a large Merchant Navy.
