OOC: Basically Germany hates the Soviets and the HL and is best buds with Quinntopia. Oh and I might be dropping a few crazy bombs here and there. Quinntopia complained about the HL so I took it to another level. Factbook here (http://z9.invisionfree.com/NS_Modern_World/index.php?showtopic=316).

IC:
Within German a Man Speaks
A small man, four feet tall, stands in front of a large auditorium silently waiting. The crowd is hushed and waiting in silent expectation for the man at the front to begin. If a pin dropped it could be heard by every single person within the auditorium. The man begins speaking slowly and many perch their necks trying to hear every word. "While our nation sits in isolation the armies of the Holy League are pillaging, looting, and raping Africa. The Progressives continue to propagate their radical secularism while we do nothing. While our Quinntopian allies fight and die, our politicians feast and drink and force our troops to stay home when all they want, all they desire is to spread the gospel. My fellow Germans, what do you want?"

The crowd erupts into a frenzy and screams with many different voices, "SPREAD THE GOSPEL!!! SPREAD THE GOSPEL!!! SPREAD THE GOSPEL!!!". The crowd begins to get into a frenzy, waving their fists around, shouting at the top of their lungs when the small man begins speaking once more.

"We shall stop sympathizing with the Holy League and never again will our name be linked with those who follow the Kingdom of Heaven in name only. Nor will we will not use one evil to fight another evil. We are too isolated and need to aggressively search for new friends."

Two years later

It was a jubilant day for Germany when the unassuming Günter Shultz was officially proclaimed Chancellor and received the purple sash around his neck. He was of such small build that the sash had to be custom tailored to meet his dimensions. His promises of creating a new and vigorous German nation had resonated with the German people and here he stood, two years after his famous Vorrede speech.

After his inauguration he set down to business to fulfill one of his main election promises. To get Germany into NATO. He sent off a few messages to Quinntopia and waited for a response. He informed them that the use of the Nineth fleet (Stationed in the Mediterrean, with two supercarriers) to support Quinntopian interests in the Suez was hinged on HL non-involvement.

Some time later, regarding Holy League Intervention into the Austro Czech War

Daily reports of the mounting tensions on the Austrian front began pouring into Germany. Günter Shultz was particularly worried by the Tsarist entry into the war and sent a message to the Tsars that if one foreign troop entered the Czech Republic it would be most unfortunate and would precipitate Germany's entry into the war.

As Russian forces poured over Hungary, Shultz ordered the mobilization of the 9th and 10th army group and raised alert status to indigio.

The Quinntonian government is quite happy that their friends and allies, the Germans, who also contain a large amount of their Lutheran brothers and sisters, are ready to make their presence known more on the world scene.

The joint USQ/German naval base in Gaeta, Italy as always was as always a bustle of activity, but when the Quinntonian counterpart to the Vice-Admiral of the Ninth Fleet, Vice-Admiral of the Sixth Fleet, Admiral Andrew Hoffman, hears of the change in government policy for his compatriot, he orders that the significant Quinntonian military presence of the prayer warriors begin a cycled rotation so that some of their number are praying for their German allies at all times, and orders that all the Chaplains in the fleet hold special services of prayer so that the common sailor be able to properly thank God for the help that Germany will most certainly be for the Great Message. And like all true Christians, they are very thankful that their burden is made a little lighter by the Germans.

If asked, the Vice-Admiral of the Ninth will be told that the Sixth Fleet is on the Mediterranean side of the Suez awaiting Soviet response when the Goan humanitarian aid arrives, and would welcome the Ninth Fleet to both support their position there, and take up the duties that the Sixth have left lax, that of actively patrolling the Mediterranean and keeping an active presence off the coast of Libya in case of more Soviet tension on that front.

As for the NATO question, it was uncertain by what mechanism they could be allowed into the organization, but it was certain that USQ fully supported inclusion. They also had in mind a couple of other members, one of which was the United Kingdom, which everyone thought was an integral part of the alliance that was missing.

Rome
Caesar Romulus Magnus, just having heard of the new government in Germany looks at Senator Decimus with a worried gaze. He rose from his chair behind his desk and began to pace around his office, "This is not good," he began, "to have such an anti-HL nation just a few moments away by plane will put us in a difficult situation. Plus, if they join NATO, it will our position all the worse. At least we can deal with Quinntonia, but with Germany..." Romulus paced the room several more times in deep thought, he didn't like the idea of having NATO bases in his Empire which served such enormous fleets or air forces.

Decimus broke the silence and asked, "What do you wish to do, Caesar?"

"Send a message to Quinntonia that should Germany join NATO we would respectfully request that all NATO bases be removed from Roman territories. Make it clear that failure to do so would mean an assault on our sovereignty, exactly the crime the HL is so often accused of. I do not wish to fight them on this, but I am adamant that if Germany enters NATO, all NATO bases must be dismantled, evacuated and removed from within our borders."

Certain interested parties in South America are heartened by Germany's returning strength, although there is a sense of revulsion that Germany is marching according to the timetables of others. Still, it is seen as a start in the right direction....

Italian wave making had made it even more clear to Günter Shultz that the current position was untenable. The current naval base in Germany had to go. Schultz send off a telegram to Great Britain asking if the base on Cyprus could be accomodated to fit Great Britain and German needs or if Great Britain would prefer a seperate base on Cyprus. The local communist corrupted government was not consulted.

Slowly and surely the Versailles gauges and grooms ‘the Germans’.

Indeed, German radicalism in the past and France’s sacking twice at the hands of German armies (World Wars I and II), the second time with war crimes committed by the NAZIs against the French people, had provided the greatest impetus for the monarchies return to power. Germans were, in the collective French mind, the boogey-man. Fear of Communism was amorphous and forced by the regime; fear of Germany-in-action came as naturally to the French as their culinary talents.

So their hostile stance is very much causing a great deal of worry for the Most Christian King. On the one hand they are anti-Holy League, on the other they are anti-Communist and pro-Quinntonian. Talk about a difficult position.

Therefore the government of the Most Christian King lends support to the stance Caesar Romulus has already taken, and simply voices Holy League unanimity on the issue. Versailles chooses to let Tsar Wingert, the 900 pound guerilla of the Holy League and father-in-law of Louis-Auguste le Roi, initiate Holy League deals with Germany if there are to be any. After letting the Winter Palace in St. Petersburg know of its stance, Versailles is content to take a fully neutral approach to Germany.

Versailles hopes Germany will do the same.

News of the French declaration to withdraw from any future negotiation with Germany did not surprise German policymakers. It did however accelerate the decision to do something regarding the unpalatable relationship that Germany currently had with the Holy League. Shultz announces the withdrawal of diplomatic relations and embassies from Holy League territory, effectively immediately. Many diplomats complained and issued recommendations against the act, citing that it would increase tensions with the Holy League. They were either ignored or told that things were changing.

Furthermore the amount of trade that Germany had with the Holy League powers was excessive and actions needed to be taken. To deal with the trade problem he issued a public statement that he was considering placing a tax on all incoming and outgoing goods concerning the Holy League of twenty five percent.

The French and Russians would no doubt be happy to convey their communications through the nearest Austrian embassy; while the Austrians were no doubt Holy League influenced, it was a distinct third entity in the vast world of HL and anti-HL. Even though the declarations of war had both been sent across the Austro-Czech border, with a few hundred army personnel in the Czech's Republik's case, official diplomatic interaction had not ceased, at least not on behalf of the Chancellery.

In addition, while the war kept most trade to a trickle, once the dust settles it will be, without a doubt, a raging torrent as all the HL products to and from Germany can be manufactured in Austria. Thus letting the prestigious export oriented corporations such as Bavaria Motor Works and Mercedes Benz to work without the added tariff prices. Undoubtedly, some tax breaks and reductions directed towards automobile manufacturing will be enacted the second all of the parliamentary seats can be found hiding in their state bunkers.

The German chancellery had declined making any decision with regards to Austria, a country in the midst of war. However, there were some indications from the chancellor’s office that nations friendly to Holy League powers would be regarded as unfriendly to Germany. It was not yet decided what actions Shultz would take against such powers, but they would probably not result in favorable trade outcomes. However, favorable trade arrangements could be made towards nations friendly to Germany.

Not all German corporations were firmly behind the German government and some were looking for any way to get around potentially disastrous government decisions even if it took actions that would be unpatriotic.

General al-Rashid was interested in co-operation with Germany. Though the vestige of a superpower, Mesopotamia was still economically advanced, fairly militarily powerful, and newly aligned with Quinntonia.
To that effect, a message was sent to Germany, that Mesopotamia was willing to consider any reasonable deal suggested by Germany.

Germany began scouting locations along the Cyprus coast and in consultation with the Ottoman government began constructing what would become one of the largest naval bases in the region. Quinntopians were encouraged to come and participate. In return for the naval base, the immigration level on Turkish citizens was increased by 20% with potentially more allowed in.
