Associated Press: The ASoGM announced today that it will begin development on a new black ops bullet in multiple standard calibers. Details aren't confirmed, but a government official, speaking on the condition of anonimity, alluded to a dense metal core (mercury or tungsten powder), with a saboted cellulose jacket. This design should defeat ballistics fingerprinting, because the bullet won't actually make contact with the rifling of the firearm's bore, thanks to the sabot (the sabot will also be cellulose). One reason to use cellulose in the sabot, the government source said, is to break apart once it leaves the barrel, hiding eny evidence of the firearm's caliber or ballistic fingerprint. The cellulose bullet jacket, in addition to having no distinguishing rifling marks, will soften after it enters the target's body. The dense metal core will help to add stability, range, and kinetic force to increase the killing effectiveness of the round.
The anonymous government source also made mention of an item that will destroy the firearm's barrel once the mission is accomplished. The source said it will be similar to a steel tube filled with thermite, which will be inserted into the bore and lit. The burning thermite will permanently destroy the firearm's barrel and action. It will be long enough to destroy any silencer attached to the firearm as well. This item will be used either in conjunction with, or instead of the cellulose bullet, to help cover the tracks of any assassin or black ops personnel.
