I'll have a factbook up for Norway by tommorow at the latest. And, now that E20 was brutally crushed into non-exsistance, I'll probably have more time to RP here.

After what happened to E20, couldn't this RP be crushed as well? After all, it is an alternate history thread...

The reason for that is, they need to take the general forum away too as via their logic in ‘If it isn’t NS, then it doesn’t belong here.’ The general forum as nothing to do with NS or NS nations. So they need to get of it, if they are going to take out E20 and the other alt-history Earths.

That's a good way of looking at it.

Though I consider it more of a scenario based version of NS, where "What if you somehow got stuck in the exact position as 'X'"?

Wrong, m'fraid. The General forum is kept to a fairly rigid set of rules, so it remains the General forum and not "Wordgame forum" or "Blog forum". Although posts in there are totally separate from NS itself, it still has to play by Max Barry's rules.

As for the Alternate History ruling; I can see where the Mods are coming from, and I'm a little disappointed with the collective martyr complex a lot of us are developing. They did make it clear that the NationStates forums are for NationStates nations; it's what Max Barry designed it for. So although you get intricate character RPs and such like, they do all conform to the rules. Alternate History threads, though, are in no way related to your NS countries. At all. Hence why they're now coming under scrutiny.

I think someone in the OOC thread accused the Mods of deleting the Earths; that's completely wrong. Hack made it clear that the various Earths are fine, because it's your NS nation that's taking an RL spot on the globe. You're not RP'ing as France, you're RP'ing as your NS nation which happens to be where France is in the real world.

So, guys, let's not start screaming "Mod censorship!!" or whatever; they're just enforcing the forum rules.

I suspect you are fine. The clarification of the ruling I received via TG from GMC Arms is that if you play a NS nation that happens to be where Norway is (for example) you are fine.

You just can't play Norway where Norway happens to be. Especially real life Norway. Unless your NS country happens to be Norway.

Might have been nice if someone mentioned it 2 years ago, but then we didn't really check it clearly either it appears.

Actually, it appears that they are using RL nations. For instance, Lachenburg the Norwegian player refers to himself as "Norway" not "Lachenburg." Therefore this seems bannable.

However, you should be fine, as long as you keep a low profile. Just don't mention it to the mods.

EDIT: I'd like to add that I can make an invision free forum very easily. I've made them for numerous NS alliances, so I'll make one now just as a fall back place so that if we are shut down, we'll have a place to go. I'll continue recruiting of E20 members in the event its shut down as well.
