History
The lands of the Dark Empire once belonged to the peaceful and sophisticated people of Lathoria. The Kingdom of Lathoria was vast and prosperous due to its excellent trade and magical studies; it was a golden age for its people. However, this all ended when the Drakonians came down from the Uninhabitable Lands of the North to seek a new home for themselves. The Lathorians refused to let the Drakonians live with their people, and instead of negotiating, the Drakonians decided to respond with violence. A massive war broke out between the two peoples, one that would last for hundreds of years. The Drakonians were able to slowly but surely conquer most of their enemy’s lands due to their superior numbers and technology. At the final battle at the capitol city of Lathora, the Drakonians were finally able to conquer the last remaining Lathorian territory. Due to their newly earned respect for their defeated enemies, the Drakonians decided not to enslave or exile the Lathorians and allowed them to stay in their homeland, although only as partial citizens. After hundreds of years of Drakonian rule, the Lathorians eventually adapted to their lifestyle as second-class citizens and proved to be loyal servants to the Dark Empire.
Government
The Dark Empire of Drakonia is ruled solely by the Dark Lord Vazerak who makes all the decisions in the government without objection. The only people allowed to report directly to him are his personal pages and the four commanders of the Dark Legions.
Society
An extremely strict caste system is enforced and allows no exceptions. The following castes are listed from lowest to highest:
Slave
Peasant (Highest a non-Drakonian/non-Lathorian can achieve)
Commoner
Middleman (Highest a Lathorian can achieve)
Noble
Lord
Dark Lord
The law greatly favors the higher classes and gives many more rights to Drakonians. An ‘eye for an eye’ punishment system is used, and non-Drakonians are treated much more harshly.
Peoples
Drakonians- Originally from the Uninhabitable Lands of the North, these people are fierce warriors who are quite familiar with the darker magics. Their skin color is pale and most have either black or silver hair and red or gray eyes. Their average height is around 5’7’’-6’0’’ and most have a medium body frame. They are fierce xenophobes and often see other races as inferior, although they do respect a few select others. They have a lifespan that is about double of a normal human’s.

Lathorians- The native peoples of the lands of the Dark Empire, these people now serve under the Drakonians as second-class citizens. They are naturally nimble and quick and are extremely well trained in both marksmanship and elemental magic. Their skin color is fair and most have blond hair with light blue eyes. Their average height is an impressive 5’9’’-6’3’’ and most have a lean body frame, perfect for quick maneuvering. They seem to be quite loyal to the Dark Empire, although a few seem to yearn for the freedoms their ancestors once had. They have a lifespan that is about triple of a normal human’s.

The Drakonians worship four deities that they refer to as the Dark Gods. These gods have no real names but represent Death, Conquest, Power, and Pride. They believe that the gods have given them the gift of dark magic and want them to use it to achieve dominance in the world. They also believe that the Dark Lord is personally chosen by the Dark Gods and given incredible powers to help him enforce his rule.
The Lathorians on the other hand worship a single God known as Lathas. They believe that Lathas single-handedly created the world and wants them to protect it at all costs. They hold a great deal of respect towards nature and believe that their elemental powers are a gift from it. After being taken over by the Drakonians, they were still allowed to practice their religion and still do vigorously.
