"This is Twenty-Four Seven, bringing you the latest in Aesonic and International news. Sources inside the Military Council confirmed today that early this morning the Glorious People's Republic tested anti-satellite weaponry. A small, outdated weather satellite was destroyed, but the potential in warfare is much greater. We go now to a statement from Defence Minister Errik Axelson."

The screen cut to a crowded press conference. Errik Axelson was a small but fit man, with a bald head and a small black beard.

"We have anti-satellite weaponry, and, in a state of warfare, we will not hesitate to use it." He said, "I can also tell you now, that we are well on our way to developing nuclear weaponry. Expect a test soon. Now, questions. You!"

"Minister Axelson, this military buildup, is it the prelude to something?"

"Yes, it is the prelude to a new age of security for the Glorious People's Republic."

"Is there a plan to use anti-satellite weaponry on any nations as of now, Minister?"

"We have plans for every contingency, but no, none of them are being placed into effect at this time. I will now open up the floor to foreign press."

OOC: Are you even part of SYAE?

"We have, of course, considered that possibility. However, given current technology, we find that the advantage will always lie with the ground based systems. Next question."

"This technology is aimed at the security of Aeson. Part of that is the ability to defend ourself. Another part is letting the world know we have that ability. Next question?"

Jackie Thomson for AP:

"If it is conceivable that satellites will be the new targets of the future information wars, what can your government procure to protect its own satellites from the same or similar technology in other opposed countries?"
