"Vat vill ve do? Ve are surrounded by the damndable and vile Eurasians. They seek only vone ding. Complete domination of the European Continent." A man said.

"We will do as we always have. Expand our trading empire. Sao Tome and Barbados report large increases in profits from trade. We must expand, and I know just the place.". A Man said as he pointed to a spot on a map of the Atlantic. Cape Verde Islands. Smack dab in the middle of the Atlantic and near the coast of Africa. A perfect trading post and naval installation.

"Vat Mr. Chancellor, vat of the Eurasians and the Songhai?" The Man asked with a slight pleading tone to his voice.

"Send a Telegram to the Songhai through our Embassy in Lagos. Tell them we wish to take this territory to expand our trade and we will give them special rights in the Islands." The Chancellor Said.

"I shall contact Admiral Jozef Heiko immediately." The Man said and quickly made his leave to do his job.

-1st Confederate Fleet, En Route from Barbados-

The Fleet was made up of 3 Cruisers, 2 Missle Boats, 4 Troop Transports and 1 Assault Carrier. It had left Barbados almost as soon as the order went out. Capture the Cape Verde Islands. The Main force would hit Praia while limited forces subdued the outer islands. The islands had little in the way of a military. Military analysts said that invasion would go off without hitch.

The Captain at the helm of the Cruiser CSV Barbados radioed to the Fleet Commander, who was in the Carrier CSV Confederacy, that they were nearing the hal-way point. It would only be another two days and then the Cape Verde Islands would be added to the Confederacy.

OOC: Very little to say. A fleet is moving to take the islands.

Bamako, Songhai Holy City
Hall of the Clairvoyents

(SIC!)

"The islands, brother? Right off Mauritania Province?"

The Hall of the Clairvoyents-ultimate capital of the Songhai Dominion, where the Heirarchs covened-was quiet today. The sun shone through a crack in the cieling, forming a symbol now, high noon, on the floor-the triangle gear of the Songhai flag, dead center of the hall's central podium. None but the Holy Triumvirate were present-the doors to the Hall guarded by the Sanctum Legion, the Royal Guards of Songhai.

"Take ease, brother," replied the Heirarch of Judgement, "they are trivial to our needs. Our focus is on the Algiers-and that we shall have, to link to the great central sea. The small island chain may serve us well-the ambassador claimed we would have exclusive rights there."
"Talk is but talk, brother," the Heirarch of Faith, sitting to Judgement's right, clamored, "they are Westerners! Decievers! Heretics!"
"You are being blinded by preconceptions," Judgement replied, "Westerners are non-believers-but perhaps we can make them see."

The third, and oldest Heirarch, the Heirarch of Legacy, had remained quiet as the two younger Prophets (Judgement, though holding the most power seemingly, was also the youngest), finally spoke up.

"The possibility of the faith spreading through this...trading post...is a tempting idea. Certainly, many will call this port through time-and through time, everything spreads. We will just have to ensure the truth may be able to spread as well."
"Indeed, brother," Judgement said, playing the older man's game through agreement, "open their eyes to Salvation."

(No longer SIC, just IC)

A message was quickly sent back to Lagos's Low Confederation embassy, stating Songhai's plans.

To the Low Confederation

Songhai wishes the Confederation luck in taking the Cape Verde islands, and will gladly see the island chain forming to a prosperous trading post.

Dear Friends we thank you for your kind words. We will keep our word in allowing you special rights on the Island. Lowered Business costs for you companies and other such business rights. We are also willing to allow you to use the port for other more... clandestine operations, should you choose.

Thank you again

-1st Confederate Fleet 7km Away from Cape Verde Island Chain-

"Sir, we've sighted the first Island in the Chain. It is called Santo Antão, sir. São Vicente is right next to it." an Aide said to the Admiral. He took a large breath of his cigar and thought for a moment. Reports said that Santa Luzia was uninhabited. Perfect location for a Command Base.

"Once we reach Santa Antão, I want you to deploy the 65th Barbados Light Infantry Battalion, along with the 74th Jamaican Engineer Battalion. Give them some air support with a few of our Helicopters." He said. He waited a moment and then began again

"After that we will move directly towards São Vicente and deploy a similiar force. Deploy a few Helis for air support and then we move on to Santa Luzia to set up a command. I will be monitoring the situation and sending orders from there." The Admiral said. The rest of the bridge quickly sent out the Orders to the ship captains.

The actions of the Confederacy against Cape Verde harm international interests, result in the destabilization of the area, and violate Cape Verde soverignty. We ask the Confederacy to reconsider their actions in Cape Verde and that they respect the soverignty of Cape Verde.

Diplomatic Communique Via the D.C. Embassy

My friends, you are taking this all way out of porportion. Yes, we are invading the Cape Verde Islands and yes there probably will be casualties. But you mistake us for warmongers like the Eurasians. We have no use for War, it costs money. Although we may profit from the wars of others, we only invade another nation to improve their economy and infrastructure. This in turn helps make us money.

As you see my friend, we care alot about money. Our passion for money is rivaled only by our intense hatred of the Eurasians. We have no use for a destroyed chain of Islands. We want the Islands to remain very much fully intact.

Sincerely
Chancellor Ernst Marijn

-Santa Luzia, Cape Verde Islands-

"Reports suggest that Santo Antão was taken without firing a shot, sir. Reports also indicate that resistance, though light, still remains on São Vicente. The report even states that one of our men may have been killed. This has not been proven however." An Aide said to the Admiral. There was a flurry of activity around him. Technicians were setting up the mobile command center. Soldiers were busy setting up camo netting and other defensive items.

"Tell the Captains that they should proceed with the plan as stated. Bybass the Islands of São Nicolau, Sal, and Boa Vista. They should split into two groups. Group A should take the Island of Maio, while Group takes the islands of Brava and Fogo." The Admiral said. He then stood up and pantamimed the tightening of a noose.

"Men, the Noose is slowly tightening around the Cape Verde Islands. And soon they shall belong to the Confederacy!" He said. There was a rousing cheer that followed.

"My fellow Eurasians, I am alarmed at the events occurring in the Cape Verde Islands. The Confederacy's actions are intolerable at best, and we can not stand for Confederate dominance in any way. Eurasia must remain strong - we must fight the Confederacy. The Cape Verde Islands are where we draw the line, where we stop the Confederacy once and for all. Thanks to Parliamentary approval of war, we may finally do so," declared Sir President Phillip Sinclair. "As I speak, five Royal Navy attack groups are heading south to intercept the Confederate fleet, as well as a division of troops to liberate Santo Antao. Current estimates state that they will arrive in less than two days."

We are further strengthening our embargo against Eurasia.

The United States further offers 20 million dollars in reconstruction aid to the people of Cape Verde.

Official Communique from The Nordic Kingdom

The Nordic Kingdom is recognizing the Cape Verde Islands as a part of the Low Confederation.

We understand their intentions with the islands, and with the history of Cape Verde in mind (Portuguese political assaults, together with transatlantic slave trading), we are convinced that for the future of Cape Verde it's best to be a part of the Low Confederation. We are however worried over the Eurasian interference, and we're suspecting that they're going to force the inhabitants of the Islands to once again be slaves to the traded with. We are convinced that only under the Low Confederation flag prosperity can return to Cape Verde.

In accordance with Congressional resolutin 551 passed by a joint session of Congress, the President warns Low Confederacy and Eurasia that the time for them both to leave Cape Verde is running out. The world's patience at your atrocities is not unlimited.
Leave Cape Verde on your own or America and its allies will help you leave.

No. You may see yourself as the World Police Force, but unfortunately you're not. Leave European Affairs as that, European. We may also remind you that we have bases in the Carribean, and I would hate for Florida or Louisiana to be injured in some grave accident.

And that was not a warning. This is though.

Any attempts to move the Confederacy from the Islands will result in War.

Along with this message, your diplomatic team in Confederacy is being sent back to the US. We wish to have our team returned as well.

OFFICIAL GOVERNMENT STATEMENT

The United Arab Socialist Republic is disgusted at the expansionist actions taken by seemingly all parties involved in this affair. If the parties involved would like the rest of the world to stay out of their "European Affairs," then they should keep their immature squabbles inside of Europe, instead of exporting them to an innocent chain of islands in Africa. Neither the North nor the South of the Cabo Verde Islands belong to neither Eurasia nor the Low Confederacy. All of the Cabo Verde Islands, instead, belong to the Verdeans, and nobody else. We are disgusted at these breaches in the national sovereignty of the Verdean people. The only rule over the islands that will be recognized by the UASR will be the government of Cabo Verde.
Until a peaceful solution to this conflict is reached, and all involved parties recognize the sovereignty of the Cabo Verde Islands, the United Arab Socialist Republic is imposing a full oil embargo on all of them.

We will not be leaving the Islands. In accordance with the actions of the UASR, which we hold no ill feelings against, we will be searching for other sources of Oil. Most likely from the Venezuala, Canada, and the North Sea.

We do wish for a Peaceful ending to this, but we are not leaving these Islands. We will revolutionize these islands and make them a economic wonder off the coast of west africa. But in the end, should you try and stop us, you'll just be doing more damage to the Islands. Think of the Islands and just leave. We will handle all reconstruction projects, build public works, set up businesses, improve the agricultural areas, and most of al, bring peace to the Islands once and for all.

OFFICIAL STATE OF THE UNITED STATES STATE DEPARTMENT

The United States is pleased with Eurasia's decision to leave Cape Verde. We believe this a good step toward restoring Cape Verde's soverignty. Due to these recent events, the United States is unfreezing all Eurasian assets, and the US is open to free trade talks with the Eurasians.

However the United States is disappointed that the Low Confederacy continues to occupy the islands in defiance of the world community. The fact is that the Cape Verde islands are not a part of Europe nor have they ever been a part of the Low Confederacy. We have made a very generous offer to the Low Confederacy in return for their leaving the Cape Verd Islands. We think they should give the proposal serious consideration. But we are not going to wait for long. The Low Confederacy is going to have to realize that there is going to be a price to pay if they continue their intransigence.

His Imperial Majesty issues a personal edict concerning the future of the Cape Verdes Islands, considering the continuing debate reigning upon their fate:

"It has been brought to my attention on numerous occasions that a certain bloc of countries in the West have been arguing over fates of a small bloc of islands, formerly the colonies of the non-standing state of Podoa [Portugal - "Land of Grapes"], and now are contested between three different factions for their ownership. It has been brought to me by various peoples - from those arriving in the Imperial Palace to those among my own advisors. Apparently, the interest in these islands has grown to such an extent that countries far and wide have called to hear the Imperial decision in the matter - something that has been since its inception been innumerated countlessly. Hence, I shall restate the intentions of the Han Empire once more, so as to quell the complaints and lend some wisdom to those active in its dispute and fate.

The Great Han Empire seeks actively to promote the kinship of nations and states from all corners of the world. It has been among our reasoning that the leaders should execute wise decisions that benefit their people, as a ruler cannot rule without guidance and respect for his subjects. It is because he knows what is best for his people that he stands there in such leadership, and hence it is his duty and obligation to fulfill those measures required to sustain and improve the health of his nation and state. When the leader falls awry and does not heed the wisdom of generations past and of the seasoned experience of their neighbors, it is the right duty to educate the leader and make certain he knows the way to doing right. If he knows not the way, it is best to guide him in these ways, so there is no need to install new leaders and cause panic among the people [i.e. revolution and conflict]. However, if those leaders have proven themselves to be not fit to rule at all because they know of right and do not heed it, it is the responsibility of those in power to effect change.

Even the Han Empire extends a great share of the world, it cannot command it, and it does not expect to command it. Instead, the Empire shall divert the responsibility to carrying the habits of civilization to those tact and proven in the ways of governing - such that they are effective keepers of the way and present civility as the Han Empire would in their instance. In this manner, the children states can learn and become accustomed to the right and gracious way to governing themselves, and become better participants in the world. It is therefore the expectation that those states knowing of the right way to enforce it, or otherwise permit their region to fall into barbarism and force the Han Empire to clean up their mess.

In these territories, of perhaps negligible mass and population - something the Han Empire would not consider worth much argument, as they only present minute military and economic advantages to us - it is my intention to continue to this tradition, effected since the Gojong Emperor [circa 1863] and rightly guiding the foreign policy of the Han Empire ever since then. It is therefore our intention to support those countries that best resolve this manner in a civil manner. Whereas occupying islands under pretensions of improving them without the guidance and permission of those states - unless those states have proven to the world that they cannot improve themselves in a manner that satisfies the world - is childish and not worthy of civility, likewise sending a military force to expel them from the said territory and even to render territories of the same sovereign occupying the islands currently would be adding dry twigs to a fire, only adding to a conflict that has no need to expand into realms that otherwise uncivil. The actions of the United Arabian Socialist Republics receive the Imperial endorsement of the Han Empire, as they present a fair trade of luxuries that would otherwise be available them when they acted civilly - and presuming those occupying the islands currently would then quit their ambitions - unless irrefutable evidence that their presence is indeed required for the continued safety, security, and integrity of those islands if they were left to themselves - the UASR would then resume their trade.

The Han Empire shall thence make no more comment until its resolution - for better or worse. We shall continue to monitor it nonetheless, and indeed we hope to witness a pleasant end to this bickering over trivial amounts of land and people. If it so pleases the world, let them make visitation to these islands and witness the events that unfold and hence acknowledge at that time an appropriate fate for the islands - it is naturally pretentious that a foreigner will invade territory not of their own to secure it for themselves, but if it is for right, then we shall concede that judgment - but the occupation has only presented topical explanations of its necessity, and then the heightened responses to its plan - in essence, a move that goes without saying only perpetrates the twlight, and is thus easily ignored by countries not caring to notice any difference.

At the moment, the Han Empire has no need to extend its force protection to oversee this matter, and shall leave its judgment in the capable hands of the right and virtuous rulers would execute in a manner fitting for its occasion."

===

This declaration was followed by a remark from the Imperial Ministry of Foreign Affairs:

"After having been presented numerous pleas for intervention in the issue of the Cape Verde Islands, it has been officially decreed that all requests for military, economic, and otherwise political support shall only be considered for rendition to those requesting of it if the offers do not include any mention of territory exchanges, economic incentives, and otherwise "quid pro quo" exchanges - in supplement for reasonable explanations of the policy being sought, current efforts by your country in executing this policy, and specific needs being sought from the Han Empire. Fear for a negative response not be considered, because by the chances of luck, you will only hear a positive remark or a negative remark - and thus half of the time, all things being equal, you will be disappointed. Elation for a positive response will be viewed with suspicion and doubts. In sum, it is not the policy of His Imperial Majesty's government to actively engage in "forced ventures of expansionism" [i.e. "imperialism" since we're an "imperial" society] to other countries - near or far. His Imperial Majesty also reminds those wishing to seek intervention from the Empire must realize that we shall only intervene if the situation is worthy of consideration - territories closer to home will have a higher priority, and more than likely will already have plans for Imperial intervention if the situation presents a need for it."

The RSFSR is fed up with this crap. It seems like every time we tell you not to do things like invading sovereign nations, as soon as we turn our back, you do it again! Why is it that every other nation on the planet is utterly incapable of getting anything done? Since that seems to be the case, The RSFSR is dispatching its Atlantic Fleet to the islands to rid the the people of Cape Verde from the Imperialist plague. If the Confederacy has any brains in its leadership, it would pull out now before our fleet arrives. It will be there in two weeks, so be warned.

Given the illegal and hostile invasion by the Low Confederacy of the Cape Verd soverign republic. Given that the Low Confederacy refuses to leave the islands despite strong protests and economic sanctions. Given that diplomacy and the offer of positive incentives has failed to remove the Low Confederacy from the islands and the Confederacy's continued intransigence.
The time for diplomacy has been exhausted. It is with regret that I must report that diplomacy has failed to restore the rights of the people of Cape Verde.
The United States of America hereby puts the Confederacy on full notice that they have 48 hours to begin leaving the islands or military action will commence to remove them.
The Low Confederacy is going to pay a heavy price for their attempt to keep Cape Verde.
During this 48 hour period it is our hope that the Confederacy will see the light and withdraw. I call upon my fellow Americans and the world to pray for a peaceful outcome of this situation.

Peace has finally come to the Cape Verde Islands. The Low Federation now peacefully controls them. We would like to thank Eurasia as they have realized that military action is not the solution.

We can only establish the fact that there is peace on the islands as of today, but should the USA start a campaign to bring peace to the islands, they're instead once again bringing war.

We urge the USA (and also RSFSR) to think once again before the peace once more will be gone from the islands. The people of the Cape Verde Islands deserve to live in peace now.
