Web City Inventory of World Cities 2007

Greetings. The Inventory of world cities is a method of "ranking" worldwide cities in several categories, based on 8 categories and nearly 30 criteria variables.

In such manner cities will be awarded "points". Point leaders will be categorized into sectors, with the highest being "Alpha" world cities, which are full service global cities. Immediately after this category is "Beta" world cities, which can be described as major world cities. Following this is Gamma, the minor world cities, and Evidential world cities, cities with the possibility of becoming world cities.

To enter, you must provide a detailed overview of the entrant, outlining the city's importance to your nation, its artistic, financial, political and economic value, areas of interest, demographics, notable cultural facilities and
worldwide economic headquarters. The more detail, the better.
British Londinium

The City of Kensington:

Kensington is home to seven million individual, and serves as the political and economic centre for Eurasia. Kensington has always served as a focal point for Eurasia; when the initial revolution amongst the British formed in the 1700s, Kensington was where the first shots were fired against the British.

Economically, the city of Kensington contributes the most to national GDP, and the majority of businesses build their corporate headquarters in Kensington. A variety of foreign embassies have also been built in Kensington by foreign nations. The Eurasian Stock Exchange and the Eurasian Broadcasting Group also are based in Kensington.

Kensington is also home to the Kensington International Airport, which is a central hub for twenty-seven major international airlines that operate in the Pacific region. Kensington also boasts an extensive road and public transport system, with monorail and bus lines extending to all corners of the city. In the city, a massive and advanced communication network links all individuals, with WiFi, fibre optics, mobile service, and other forms of high-speed communication are abundant.

As for culture, sporting venues are also plentiful, with the city attempting to gain bids for the Football World Cup and the Olympic Games. Near the Canary Wharf district lies Woolwich Avenue, the so-called "home of Eurasian culture," boasting numbers of theatres, opera houses, and art galleries. Street performers are plentiful in many areas of the city.

Three major universities are housed in Kensington: the University of Kensington, the Royal University, and the Emperor's College.

-HISTORY

Balkan City was founded in 1552 and was the 473rd Incorporated City/Town in the infantile nation. Due to Balkan City's geographical location (the center of the nation), it became the central trade hub of the nation and outlying areas. The city was incorporated with just 23,543 residents in 1752. The Downtown area was fully completed in 1559, and was comprised of 8 general stores, 4 clothing shoppes, and various other stores. When the nation became The Holy Empire of Asgarnieu, a large castle was construced just south of Downtown. It became the Capital of The Holy Empire later that year. In 1729, the city became the capital of the Province of Druids (Druid Province). It still had not become the capital of the County of Reginald. In 1744 it became the County Seat. Soon after that, several hundred-thousand immigrants and citizens moved to the city, due to its high income and low taxation rates. The city reached a population of 1,000,000 in 1779. It became the largest city in the nation. Since then, the population has climbed exponentially and has not faltered. It is still the largest city in the nation. In November of 2006, it became a Special Autonomous Region of Asgarnieu.

Cotenshire

To the Web City Inventory of World Cities 2007

Surely I need not present the faire city of Caen, of which I am governor, to this list, as it is most certainly already on the top. If this is not the case, however, then let me enlighten you as to why it should occupy that position.

Caen is a Most Spectacular Metropolis. With over six hundred thousand residents, it is the largest in all of the Dominion. Not choked with many vulgar commoners like other cities in foreign lands, it is home to those of class and wealth. Opulent lifestyles are enjoyed by all.

It was one of the many cities founded during the age of the William Salisbury I “the Great.” Located between the two grand lakes, Skipentery and the Flogust, it was originally popular for its fisheries and Great Royal Wharf. It soon grew, though to be the greatest city in Cotenshire and indeed the greatest in the world.

Politically, it is one of His Majesty, the King’s, favourite cities. He has slept here at least 39 times last year, almost twice as much as any other royal residence. There is also grand a House of Parliament here, where the body has decided to convene on 28 of their 36 sessions last year.

Economically, at the heart of Caen is the Grand Salisburgic Bazaar. It is home to many thousands of merchants, traders, and moguls, and is of such wealth and prestige that, at any given time, over 700 itinerant Jews can be found roaming the Bazaar peddling their goods.

Spiritually, if it is not the greatest city in the world, then it is as great as any city, less God’s own Jerusalem, could possibly be in this respect. There are over eighteen Grand Cathedrals and over two hundred houses of worship. It is more saturated in the Christian spirit than any other city of any other realm. The chief Bishop of Caen is the Most Pious Henry Fitzwindlethorpe, indeed the Most Holy and Most Wealthy of all of the Dominion’s Clergy.

Culturally, there is no competition. It is hands down the best that ever was, is now, or ever will be. Caen is home to the greatest of the Royal Operas, administered by the world renown Sir Giacomo Alvise, who is also a frequent composer, conductor, and performer. It is also home to the Five Great Halls of Art, which contain millions of classic sculptures and millions of paintings and canvases (and none of that cubism rubbish, either).

Also, Caen is home to the awe-inspiring Palace de Salisburgne. One of Gaviscilio’s masterpieces, it is the absolute greatest work of architecture ever seen or imagined. The magnificent arches, gardens, and sculptures are enough to render even the most garrulous wench speechless, but it’s center piece is the profound Hall of Gasconade, an immense hallway exactly one mile in length and one hundred feet in height. Covering the entire length of its walls and arched ceiling is the spellbinding painting, “The Battle of Warthing upon Wash,” depicting the Most Greatest, Most Heroic, and Most Important battle ever waged in Cotenshire history. The work took legendary painter Sergio Legucia 28 years to complete.

Surely, by now, you have no more doubts as to placing Caen on the top of this list. I will be launching a week long celebration throughout Caen to commemorate its status of Best City in the World.

Signed,
Lord Geoffrey Lusignan, Royal Governor of Caen and Burgrave of all its Districts

Population Density: 11120.5 Persons/Square Mile

Province/State/Territory/Other:Kurona, East Region

Function: National Capital

Mayor: Rt.Hon Mark E. Isham (Raven Order)

-HISTORY

Sonomi was founded in 1902, by the newly elected Chair Person of Commonwealth Affairs Kyota Daidoji and his wife Miyuki. At the time Kurona was not yet a nation, it was still a series of small colonies, which a group known as the centeralists were trying to unite. Kyota and his wife were out going further inland from the far north, when they were hit by a sudden freak moutain storm. The rain blinded them they ran their horse cart off the path and down a hill. They came upon a simple dirt land. About a year later, everyone united and began building. The firs to be constructed was the Government Hall (Which is today the Royal Palace). Because most of the workers were of Japanese decent, and orgin, the theme of the city was taking on an old Japanese theme. Which much of it still holds today.

Cement was laid down for the first time in 1920. It was far more effective than cobbel stone.

The city also played host to the infamous Project PHOENIX which was an investigatory commision on the UFO phenomenon in the late 1900's to the 1930's.

In October of 2005 Sonomi was caught in one of the worst storms ever. The city was flooded in a matter of days, leaving billions in damage. A year later, an F5 Tornado ripped straight through it. But the city has recoverd nicely, and is standing tall yet again.

A person can be licenced by the city to Grant Land Ownership and Propriety rights further out west, (To save people the long trip).

-POLITICAL IMPORTANCE

The Royal Palace sits dead center of the country. The palace is also host to the Cabinate (equivilant of Parliment or Congress etc.) and the Raven Order which selects the ruling Prince or Princess. For the longest time there was no check-and-balance system in place. Although technically the Prince or Princess is meant to have full power, the Raven Order could easily excercise it's poltical power over him/her. But now the city has a check and balance sytem, the first in the nation.

Background

Ever since the founding of the Nicksyllvanian Nation, Nickograd, being a prominant city between the border of New Nicksyllvania and Olde Nicksyllvania was chosen as the National Capital of the unified Nicksyllvanian Empire, and has been the fiefdom of the Sawatsky Throne for the following 2000 years. The Fiefdom was frequently a site of wars and seiges by renegade Lords seeking to capture the Imperial Nicksyllvanian throne and to gain power, all ultimately failing, as well as the numerous invasion by the Dragkonians reaching the city walls. Nicksyllvanians are proud to this day to mention that Nickograd has never fallen into enemy hands. In the 1800s the City underwent significant Industrialization, and even further industrialization after the numerous 5 year plans of the Imperial Socialist Party once it had gained power.

Economy

Being the Center of the Government, it was only natural that the Imperial Nicksyllvanian State Corporation be Headquartered in Nickograd, bringing along the cream of its Industrial policies. Factories are located nearly everywhere around the city, although efforts have been made to concentrate them along the East end. Due to the lack of any form of Enviromental restriction and the State Controlled Corporatist policies, Nickograd is a rather polluted city. Most Factories, due to area constrictions are built underground as are most housing and stores, it also solves some of the problems of the daily smog and acid rain. Citizens and visitors are STRONGLY advised to wear a air mask, or minimally a filtering mask at all times on the surface.

Government

Nickograd is the location of the Golden Palace, the Imperial Parliament, The Imperial Ministry of Adminitrative Affairs/Industrial Affairs/Agricultural Affairs/Foreign Affairs/Civilian Affairs/Transportation/Food and healthcare as well as being the Headquarters of the Imperial Nicksyllvanian State Corporation, the Imperial Nicksyllvanian Armed Forces H, and of the Imperial Nicksyllvanian Special Police Force.

Transportation

Nickograd services 1 massive Airport, designed to service the entire nation and is fitted to service an estimated 15 million passengers daily as well as transportation of goods and military material. The City is completely connected by an extensive Subway system, as well as an extensive elevator system to allow citizens to travel among the many underground levels of Nickograd, without being exposed to the potentially dangerous surface. Private Vehicles have mostly been banned throughout the city but surface transportation consisting of Buses are available. The City is a gigantic hub of rail transportation, connecting to every major and minor City in Nicksyllvania.

The Grand Imperial City of Cravna
Jewel of the Empire
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c381/crave22/Cravan/philadelphia-night-skyline.jpg

Background and History
The Imperial City of Cravna is the capital of Cravan, and Cravan's second largest mainland city with a population of over 60,000,000. (second only to Oured) It is a city of great economic and cultural significance, and is home to the seat of power of the Imperial Crown.

Cravna itself developed into an organized city state around the year AD 1000 (known as Laragan at the time), however it did not reach its peak in the medieval age until the AD 1200's when the Anglo-Saxon kingdoms of mainland Cravan united under the banner of the Kingdom of Maticha. This was a time of great economic prosperity, with riches flooding the Imperial City and gold literally flowing through the streets. The people of the city were the richest in the nation at this time, and it was considered a privelige to live in the central city of the Kingdom.

However these old times of feudalism began to fade, and with it came great changes in the city and nation at large. As modern Cravan formed and changed, so too did the Imperial City. Cravna was the site of the first major uprising of the Cravanian Revolution, when over 600 citizens stormed the old Senate building and set it ablaze. When power was usurped from the Old Imperial Family in 1706, Cravna was chosen as the location of the new Empire's capital due to its historical significance, and as such the city has a long and rich history.

Districts and Geography
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c381/crave22/Cravan/cravnacopysmall.png
Above is a rough map of Cravna. Light blue is water, red are highways, dark blue is the commerce district, purple is the Imperial district, dark green is the residential district, yellow is the industrial area, navy blue is the airport, and the light green areas are the surrounding suburban areas of the city.

Imperial District
The Imperial District is the center of Cravan's power, and as such is among the most secure parts of the city, and a high security presence keeps the peace and preserves the many older buildings of this area. This District is filled mostly with buildings dating back to pre-revolution times, where Cravanian history was made, as well as all foreign embassies. The Imperial District is known as a rich cultural center and a center of political power.

Commerce District
The Commerce District is by far the busiest section of the city, with millions of commuters moving to and from their places of work each day. The Commerce District is mostly noted by a high number of opulent sky rises and office buildings, and also a large number of shopping districts which fill this area of the city. The Commerce District of Cravna is quite possibly the most important piece of Cravan's economy, and as such is protected with care.

Residential District
The Residential District is mostly populated by urban-middle class families, and mostly covered by high-rise apartment buildings and condominiums. As a result, most citizens in this area use mass transport to go about their daily lives. Traffic from the Residential Areas into the other areas of the city gets particularly bad when workers from the suburbs make their way through on their commute.

Industrial/Airport District
The Industrial and Airport areas of the city are the center of the manufacturing centers of the Imperial City, and are the most polluted sections of the city. New environmental programs have been enacted to keep the pollution to this section, and these methods have been relatively successful, keeping the rest of the city clean. Although dirty and somewhat undesirable, the Industrial District is crucial to the more extravagant Commerce District's survival.

Suburban District
Not so much a district in itself as it is more a section, the suburban areas of Cravna are filled with mostly middle and upper class homes, and are much quieter areas to live. However living in this section of the city extends the commute to almost unbearable levels.

Notable Locations
Cravna also has many spectacular structures which are crucial to the nation's economy, government, history, culture, or any combination of these. A few of the more notable locations are:

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c381/crave22/Cravan/parliament.jpg
The Imperial Senate building, home to Cravan's legislative body. The current Senate building was completed in 1726, and was built in a Gothic architectual style, in contrast to most of the more conservative architectural styles of the period. The interior of the building is made mostly with Cravanian Marble, an expensive stone which takes on a slight emerald hue.

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c381/crave22/Cravan/Palacio_Real.jpg
The Imperial Palace, home of the Imperial Family and the seat of the Imperial Court. The current incarnation of the Imperial Palace was built in 1723 by Sapinian architect Fernando Perez. The Imperial Palace sits on the grounds of the old Imperial Palace, which was destroyed by the flames of revolution.

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c381/crave22/Cravan/freedomtower.jpg
The Golden Triangle Trade Center (GTTC), an engineering marvel, is a center where economic partnerships with other nations from all over the Golden Triangle Region are forged. The GTTC is crucial to Cravan's economic power, and is a display of Cravanian supremacy in the home region.

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c381/crave22/Cravan/370x245_citysq11.jpg
Imperial Square is located at the heart of the Imperial District, and is located on the main Imperial Boulevard. It sits in front of the Senate building and several major Imperial Offices. It is also just down the road from the Imperial Palace. The Head Director's office overlooks the square.

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c381/crave22/Cravan/night.jpg
Imperial Hall is the oldest standing structure in Cravna, and is where the Constitution of the Empire was ratified in January 1707. As such, it is an important relic of Imperial History, and is an ever-present piece of the Imperial City's skyline, no matter how much it is dwarfed by the much taller skyscrapers of the city.

And so, the Imperial City of Cravna, Jewel of the Empire, has hereby been submitted to the 2007 Web City Inventory. A city of rich heritage, booming economy, and political power, Cravna is, at least in our eyes, among the finest on this green Earth.

Pacitalia

Timiocato, Pacitalia
A true global city.

Timiocato is already widely recognised as a trend-setting city that forms a key component of the industrialised world and a hub of both the Atlantian Oceanian region and the world. It is Pacitalia's most important city, the symbol of the country, of progress, of history and of culture. Timiocato is Pacitalia's most popular urban tourist destination.

Connecting between points of interest in Timiocato is very easy as well as to the border at Amarenthe or the Pacitalian islands. Transport for Timiocato is an efficiently run prelature of the Timiocato city government and provides extensive information on its services and operations.

Airports
Timiocato is served by three major international airports and fourteen smaller regional airports that dot the city. Timiocato Santo Ragazzo International Airport is arguably Atlantian Oceania's busiest and largest international airport, as well as one of the world's. It has a total number of yearly passengers that is triple the population of Pacitalia itself. TSR is the major entry point to Pacitalia for most international long-haul flights. For those seeking to avoid the bustling but efficient TSR, Timiocato Memoriale di Veterani International Airport (TVM) is the second airport of Timiocato and the major charter airline terminal for the city and surrounding region. It was originally the main airport until the first phase of TSR opened in the 1980s. The smaller Timiocato Isolamunicipa International Airport (TII) is reserved for diplomatic flights, small craft and other small operators from other AO countries.

Extensiveness, usage and approval rating of transportation grid
Both residents and foreign travellers display high approval ratings for Timiocato's public transportation system, its roadways, airports and seaports.

Road usage by vehicles
There are 1.038 cars on the road for every one Timiocatan, making the city one of the most road-savvy in Pacitalia and the region.

Major seaports
Timiocato is Pacitalia's largest seaport, with five major points of berthing around the Timiocato shoreline.

Technological capabilities and infrastructure
Pacitalia is a global hub for innovation and technological advancement, and Timiocato is the national capital not just politically, but technologically, boasting numerous technological and medical laboratories dedicated to the advancement of science in the fields of telecommunications, robotics, transportation, aerospace, nanomedicine and green technologies and energies. Through Timiocato's five major universities are financially-endowed research centres that also contribute to technological engineering in the city.

Prominent skyline and skyscrapers
Timiocato enjoys one of the most easily recognisable and renowned skylines in the world, with a main central business district stacked with skyscrapers, condominium towers and a character honeycomb/moire-roofed convention centre clustered around a nearly-enclosed harbour that permits only small craft entry and provides for picturesque, peaceful walking, biking and rollerblading. Among the city's skyscrapers is the landmark 815-metre tall, 220-metre wide (square) Telecom Pacitalia Tower, a wonder of glass and steel which overlooks the harbour. Nearby are 1 International-Global Finance Centre, the Acis Tower and the BNP Paribas Building, which all clock in above 500 metres. Timiocato boasts 62 buildings above 300 metres in height. Timiocato is also home to the Republican SkyTower Observatory, which at 875 metres tall, is the tallest freestanding structure both in Timiocato and in Pacitalia. Timiocato's government district, to the north, boasts the world-famous New Prado, a beehive-shaped tower hosting the executive and legislative offices of the national government.

Significant institutions
Timiocato is home to an abundance of internationally recognised institutions.

Educational institutions
As mentioned, Timiocato is home to five major universities: the National University of Timiocato (NU-TMC), part of Pacitalia's only state-run tertiary education system; Timiocato Metropolitan University (TMU); Central Timiocato University (CTU); University of Maria and the Immaculate Conception (UMIC) and its renowned Collegiate of the Seminary; and the University of Capitale (U of C). They are fed by numerous secondary and preparatory-secondary schools in the Capitale region, as well as from 170 university-colleges and community colleges around Timiocato. Timiocato's five major universities admit the third-highest amount of international students in Pacitalia.

Research facilities
All major universities host research facilities, but private biochemistry and organochemistry research, medical research and biological research labs dot the so-called "New Industrial" part of the city, a revitalised district featuring new research offices and a twenty-first century style of layout.

Health facilities
Timiocato hosts numerous hospitals, all privately maintained but accessible to anyone requiring medical assistance. There are also private clinics, walk-in clinics, dentistry, veterinarian and specialty medical services for access in the city. Timiocato is also the home of a world-class cancer research centre, cardioscience treatment centre, children's hospital, burn hospital, rare diseases treatment centre and six psychiatric wards.

Sites of pilgrimage for world religions and faiths
As a deeply Christian, but predominantly Roman Catholic city, Timiocato is dotted with churches and basilici. With sizeable Muslim, Buddhist and Jewish faiths, as well as other denominations of Christianity, one can easily gain access to synagogues, mosques, temples or other places of gathering. As a liberal democratic country, both residents and visitors are granted full right to worship and may gather at any place within the city to pay tribute to their respective faiths. Timiocato is home to several major Roman Catholic churches including St. Mark's Basilica and St. Pancras' Basilica, and to the equally world famous St. Augustine Greek Orthodox Church (not to be confused with Archangel Augustine of Beo University, in Nortopalazzo). Algubina, the main Muslim pilgrimage site in Atlantian Oceania, sits just north of Timiocato on the A7 superhighway.

Headquarters for international organisations
Timiocato hosts the Pacitalian White Cross, a humanitarian organisation dedicated to the provision of material, medical and monetary aid around the world, but most especially in developing countries. The city also hosts the Pacitalian headquarters of Amnesty International, as well as primary headquarters for the Alliance for Stability, Peace and Intra-Regional Entente (ASPIRE, AO only), the Group of Six, the Union of World Powers and the Timiocato Environmental Accord, 1994.

Historically important sites
In comparison to other places in Pacitalia, Timiocato is a relatively young city. However, it does boast major historical sites that are of mass interest, such as the Sotto Muro, the Museo della Capostica, the Camera dei Santi, the Old Prado, the Conagresso Capitale, the old Docklands district, the Roman Arch Bridge in the Campo Dorsium (3km east of the CBD). The piazzi of Timiocato host major cultural events and protests each year, and have been the site of numerous political rallies that changed the course of Pacitalian history.

Cultural facilities
Timiocato is the cultural capital of Atlantian Oceania and with that comes the responsibility of maintaining, and thus, the reputation of having, the greatest abundance of activities, things to do, foods to eat and places to see and stay.

Notable museums and galleria
Most famous of Timiocato's museums is the Sotto Muro, in the government district, which houses Pacitalian art and artefacts and showcases one or two guest exhibits per season from foreign providers. Other major museums and galleria in Pacitalia's capital include the Cansoma Arca Modern, which houses art-deco, art-nouveau and post-modern artwork from 1900 or later; the Museo Antica Nazionale, the major point of reference for classical and ancient artefacts and artwork from pre-Occidentalian times in Pacitalia (CE 20-400), the Museo Regale, a showcase of Pacitalia's monarchical period from the 600s to the overthrow and murder of King Luis IV in 1219; the Museo Antica Interregioni, which showcases ancient artefacts from foreign lands as well as serving as a major museum of civilisation; the Museo della Capostica, which houses the tributes to the Caposticates, the recipients of Pacitalia's highest, most exclusive civilian honour (only 21 awarded in 504 years); the Museo Culinaria, Atlantian Oceania's only museum dedicated to gastronomical history; and the Ars Galleria Pacitalia, the Democratic Capitalist Republic's premier museum for paintwork and sculpture.

Notable opera and orchestras
Timiocato is a highly renowned centre for musical advancement and observance. La Fundamenta and La Passoperatta are the two major opera houses in Pacitalia's capital, but the Trattestina is the busiest one, attracting more obscure acts of opera and concert. The Timiocato Philharmonic Orchestra and the Republican Philharmonic Orchestra both use the Fundamenta as their home base, a grand opera hall with a remarkable 8,400 seats combining outstanding acoustics with a mixture of classical and ultramodern architectural principles. The architecture and acoustic principles of the Passoperatta opera house are more traditional, and dress for events there much more formal.

Notable film centres and festivals
Timiocato is home to seven major movie studios, filming facilities and television studios equipped for film production, and hosts five film festivals throughout the year, one of which, the International Film Festival of Timiocato, held in June, is ranked as one of the five most important on the festival circuit.

Aeropag, Jativa, Unified Capitalizt States

Aeropag, built on a small island at the center of the Confederacy of Jativa over two hundred years ago to be that nation’s capital, is now the largest financial center in Paripana, expanding onto artificial platforms and building enormous skyscrapers to hold a population of over eight million. Despite over a century of being part of a divided Jativa and decades of facing Tingitanan anarchists over a narrow water border, Aeropag has attracted many of the largest companies in the Unified Capitalizt States, hosted two major international sports competitions, and become an icon of capitalizm. Since Jativa was united under the UCS, buisnesspeople have spent large sums of money to push the limits of the city’s capacity, and it now boasts an international airport, world-class football and ice hockey venues, the two major Capitalizt stock exchanges, and the headquarters of over half of the one hundred largest Capitalizt companies as rated by Capitalist Weekly.

Statistics
Population (city): 8 413 119 (27th in UCS)
Area: 14.97 km² (3.88 km² land, 11.09 km² artificial platforms)
Population density: 561 999 people/km²

Population (metropolitan area): 20 013 946 (38th in UCS)
Area: 2 198.6 km²
Population density: 9 103 people/km²

Transportation
Due to the extreme land constraints, Aeropag has an extensive public transportation system. Underground or above-ground walkways connect nearly every building in the city, eliminating the need for sidewalks. Several subway lines operate between the city’s larger buildings, enabling commuters to go across the city in under ten minutes.

The road network, though not heavily used, was recently rated the best in the Unified Capitalizt States by an Aeropag Tribune survey. There are no surface parking lots, but most commercial buildings have parking garages and rent spaces to visitors for an hourly fee. While most Aeropag residents do not own cars, they are heavily used by corporate executives and other wealthy people living outside the city.

Seaplanes are the primary means of travelling to and from Aeropag. Several companies offer affordable seaplane trips between Aeropag and other major cities in Jativa. Additionally, people living in the nearby cities of Kainia and Accola can reach Aeropag by subway or road bridge. Aeropag International Airport (AER), due to size constraints, has a limited capacity for public passenger flights, and most international travellers use Olo Manuëlo International Airport (OMI) in Port Lusambo instead.

Finance
Aeropag is best known in the financial sector for the Aeropag Stock Exchange, the biggest stock exchange in the Unified Capitalizt States, which has a major impact on the Atlantian Oceania economy. Nearly all of the well-known UCS-based multinational corporations are headquartered in the city, including the Capitalizt Defense Alliance, Aeropag Tribune Media, TechConGroup, AZAK Enterprises, AeroLife, Air Paripana, Maxisoft, Jativa Transport Corporation, Eighth Fifth Bank of Paripana, Commercial Financial Group, and Capitalizt Consolidated Conglomeration Corporation (C4). A total of over 200 000 business organizations have offices in Aeropag.

A recent Capitalist Weekly report listed Aeropag as having the largest gross municipal product of any city in Atlantian Oceania, estimated at 555 333 086 300 g Au (approx. USD 11 536 594 710 000) or 1.87% of the Capitalizt GDP. Because of its small population compared to other financial hubs like Sonoma City and Timiocato, it has a per-capita GMP of 66 007.99 g Au (approx. 1 371 260 USD), among the highest in the world. However, the mean income of 3 461.76 g Au (approx. USD 71 915.30) is among the lowest of any major city in the UCS, since most of the highly-paid executives choose to live outside of the city due to the limited living space available.

Architecture
The extreme cost of land in Aeropag has necessitated the construction of massive residential and office buildings of ever-increasing height, making the two main islands seem to stick out of the ocean like giant needles. The tallest of these buildings is the landmark TechConGroup Tower, which is, at 1 093 m, the tallest building in Paripana. The giant glass-and-steel structure, built with conventional Capitalizt design principles, has 320 floors of residential and office space and features a distinctive crystal sculpture at the top which has become a symbol of the city. More recent construction, such as C4 Aeropag Complex, tends to focus less on architectural detail and more on the ability to add extra floors to the top of completed buildings when needed. Despite the constant demand for space, companies are hesitant to build new structures over 500 m, for fear of putting excessive stress on the artificial Yates Island—though its engineers have stated that they do not believe the concerns are necessary. Some companies have made large investments in an attempt to maximize the usable space in their existing buildings, using complex computer models to help redesign floor plans and replacing large clusters of elevator shafts with small, but expensive, teleportation devices.

Culture
Though due to the nature of the Capitalizt culture, Aeropag lacks the major opera houses, museums, and universities that one would expect of a world city, it has a number of thriving international communities representative of the many different cultures of Aeropag residents. The largest of these communities is Bédistan Pékrire on the western coast of Aeropag Island, started by a small group of refugees during the Tingitanan invasion of Bedistan who chose not to evacuate to Atlantian Oceania. Such communities are responsible for many of the finest restaurants in the city, such as 홍시의 음식 궁전 (Hoŋ Siʼyi ʼĪmsig Guŋjūn), considered one of the best Syokaji restaurants in the world.

Aeropag is famous throughout the world for sports. For World Cup 26, the Orange-Green Bowl, a 107 596-seat stadium in northeast Aeropag Island, was selected as one of eight Capitalizt stadiums to be used during the tournament. Not long after the World Cup ended, Aeropag successfully bidded to host the I Olympic Winter Games, and overcame significant technological hurdles to stage the Games. Yates Island was built at great cost to hold the Olympic venues, quadrupling the size of the city. Due to Aeropag’s tropical climate, the venues themselves required refrigeration devices on a scale which had not been seen before in the UCS. After numerous delays, including a natural snowfall in the city, the first-ever completed Olympic Games were finally brought to a close at the Orange-Green Bowl (now known as Aeropag Olympic Stadium). The one surviving facility from the Olympics is the AZAK Dome, a 48 000-seat ice hockey arena. More recently, Aeropag has established two major football teams, the Aeropag Penguins in the Capitalizt SLANI League and the Aeropag Glass in the 자스연 리그 (Jasīʼyūn Ligī).

Media
Aeropag is home to the largest media outlet in the UCS, Aeropag Tribune Media. ATM is best known for the Aeropag Tribune, a daily newspaper with an estimated international reach of 38 billion people. ATM also operates over a dozen television networks, which are made available both on conventional televisions in many countries and over the Internet, and owns the economic journal Capitalist Weekly. The other major newspaper is the Aeropag Chronicle, published by the Capitalizt branch of the International City–based PariMedia. Although these traditional media outlets play a significant role, a Tribune survey found that 65% of Aeropag residents trust an independent Internet-based news source over traditional printed newspapers, most likely caused by short commute times and busy lifestyles that reduce the opportunity to read a newspaper.

Woodstock, Sarzonia

Overview
Even though this city's population of just over 9.7 million citizens is dwarfed by the nation's largest city (Nicksia; 224 million) and its financial capital (Portland; 159 million), Woodstock's status as the national capital of Sarzonia makes it an attractive candidate to serve as a representative of the nation in the Inventory of World Cities.

The city is situated in a valley of the Lorber mountains in the centre of the country. As such, it is often slammed by snow storms during the winter months, but retains cooler than average temperatures in the summer. A Woodstocker is rarely seen with shirt sleeves and flip flops are all but non-existent in the capital. Of course, the paucity of casual clothes in a country that is almost notorious for its lack of pretension has as much to do with its import to the national and international political scene as it does with the climate. The capital has been the home of the Woodstock Pact's headquarters when that alliance was active.

Landmarks
Several national landmarks line the city, with the Gray House being at the top of the list. This mansion is the official residence of the President of the Incorporated States of Sarzonia and is so named because of the metallic grey titanium alloy used to construct it. The house was named the Gray House during the brief period when Sarzonian English was dominated by the former American citizens who populated the nation. Even when influxes of Isselmerian-Nielander, Praetonian and Pacitalian immigrants changed the flavour of Sarzonian English, the spelling was retained to maintain a sense of tradition within the country. The building was once nearly completely leveled during the war with the now-defunct nation of Cam III and was built with NBC protection added into the sturdy materials and foundation used to make the building one of the hardest in the country to tear down.

Another building famous building in Woodstock is Parliament Hall, which is where the nation's Parliament meets during the legislative year (2 January to 14 November). It was modeled after the Maryland State House, owing to the Sarzonian President's birthplace being in the state of Maryland. There, 550 Delegates and 52 Senators meet to decide upon legislation that affects Sarzonians in the nation's borders and in its various colonies.

The building where the nation's highest court, the Supreme Judicial Court, meets is named the John Paul Stevens Building after an associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. It houses the six Associate Justices, the four Assistant Justices (who are only involved in a case in the event an Associate Justice must recuse him or herself from said case) and the Chief Justice of the Incorporated States.

Visitors to the Gray House, Parliament Hall or the John Paul Stevens Building are screened thoroughly and must pass an extensive background check to be permitted to visit. They may not walk through any room of the Gray House or Parliament Hall without a minimum of two armed guards per visitor. There is no age minimum, so if a family of five includes one infant of two months, 10 armed guards shadow the family throughout the buildings.

Other tourist locations throughout Woodstock include the Max Yasgur Centre For The Performing Arts, which is named after the man whose farm was the scene of the Woodstock Music Festival in 1969. "The Yaz" hosts world-famous musical acts such as the Praefeles and Fennerby. Its crowning achievement was a concert performed by rock legend Stevie Nicks for Sarzo on his 50th birthday. She performed both the Sarzonian national anthem "Freedom," and the Presidential honourary song, "Destiny Rules," both of which she either wrote or co-wrote, in addition to a set that included "Landslide," "Stand Back," "Edge of Seventeen," and "Fall From Grace." The building has been designated a National Historic Landmark; Devoted to the study of military technology, wars, tactics, and strategy, the Military History Museum was established recently for a clientele that includes students at the Woodstock Military Academy, the Sarzonian service academies, and history buffs the world over. Admission is $2.00 Sarzonian for native citizens, $2.50 for citizens of Tier One allies (Praetonia, Isselmere-Nieland, Skinny87, Romandeos), and $5.00 for all others. The museum was built to draw a wider audience than the famous Naval Museum located in Nicksia.

Transportation
Woodstock International Jetport
Despite Woodstock's population of 6.7 million, the Jetport hasn't kept up with the growth of the nation's capital. The Jetport has a sparse 18 gates in three terminals, though nearby Central Airport in suburban Saugerties makes up for the small size of the Jetport. However, when most major leaders plan a state visit to Sarzonia, the Jetport is where they land due to its proximity to the Gray House and Parliament Hall.

Woodstock Public Transit Service
With an ultramodern subway, light rail, and bus service subsidised by the federal and city governments, the Woodstock Public Transit Service has become known for being among the best-maintained in the world. It combines inexpensive fares ($1.00 Sarzonian for one way fare on the bus; $1.25 for a one way fare on light rail; and $2.50 for a one way fare on the subway) with a clean, safe service for a frequently-used alternative to driving the Woodstock Beltway or the Turnpike. However, if you want to stand on an escalator in the WPTS, be sure to stand to the right or you'll incur the wrath of the populace!

Sports
The Woodstock Wild have won seven Incorporated Football Federation championships and a AO Champions League title and are currently competing in the NS Champions League. The team play their home games at recently refurbished Bryan Marshall Stadium, built across the street from the site of their previous home, Hendrix Stadium. The Palestra hosts basketball, hockey, and handball games and was named a national historic landmark in a controversial decision by outgoing Mayor Chip Moose when developers threatened to tear it down. It's since been refurbished.

Media
The Woodstock Daily Mail has undergone several transformations since its inception on 25 March 2004. The paper was originally founded with the idea of becoming the nation's "newspaper of record," but after an acquisition by a corporate interest, it became fodder for "tabloid journalism." After its acquisition by a Pacitalian media company, the paper reverted to its hard news format and regained its status as the country's most important newspaper. The city is home to the nation's cable news outlet Sarzonian News Network and the Sarzonian Foreign News Service.

Province: Maraque
Function: Capital of the Democratic Constitutional Monarchy

Northern Maraque-Vorencia is believed to have been founded roughly 39,187 years ago by an ancient Maraquean civilization by the name of the Atronites, as deciphered by Maraquean archaeologists who have been studying old glyphs carved in stone tombs in the city center.

It is around this general location that it is believed Maraquean civilization began. The leader of the Atronites, Tuan Lekan was seen as God in the eyes of his followers, and as such many monuments far ahead of their time were built in honor of him.

Northern Maraque-Vorencia was the very first known settlement in the central continent of the Maraquean Empire. The region started to grow at an exceptionally fast pace, at which time the city spanned many miles across the 24,000 mile stretch of beach the city was built upon. In the first 1,400 years of the cities existence, the population grew from 5,000,000 to 75,000,000, and was growing by an exceptional 45,000 every year from that point on.

As technological innovation started to appear, the city grew larger and larger, surpassing many cities in the region by size and population. Buildings were getting taller and more refined, and the people were living a quality of life that was unseen in every other part of the country, and possibly the entire region. By the Modern Age, the city retained its title as the largest and most populous city in the country, and has grown from 11,000 square miles in size to an enormous 91,000 square miles.

One of the oldest cities in the world, with richly ornate ancient ruins, bountiful museums filled with grand relics of the past, and a timeless history its people are immensely proud of, it is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. Not only history buffs, but art buffs (the city has dozens of art galleries that put the Louvre to shame), diners (several of the restaurants in Persepolis are ranked among the world's best by food critics), and architecture buffs. Although not open to the public - and heavily fortified - the city's biggest attraction, drawing over 10,000,000 visitors a year, is the Shah's palace. The city is also famed for its remarkably warm and hospitable people, who are not only receptive and open to visitors, but fluent or near-fluent in English. Police, hospital workers, and those working in the tourism industry in particular, are well versed in the English language, and speak it as if it were their native tongue. The city is home to posh suburbs, exotic and beautiful gardens, vibrant nightlife, huge Western-style shopping malls, zoos, and much more.

Surprisingly for such a vast city, it is remarkably clean and safe. Pollution and litter are almost non-existent, the streets are smoothly paved, sidewalks are in top condition and the city is very clean and crime free. The economic well-being of the populace, coupled by a massive (largely unseen) presence of police and SAVAK agents, ensures that crime, especially against tourists, almost never happens. Bizarrely, one of the most popular activities for tourists is watching live executions of criminals, a practice that is resoundingly condemned by more left-leaning nations.

Though mostly Zoroastrian, the city is very diverse, with many small but vibrant Christian and Jewish communities. People of all races and religions (except the Arabs and Hazara, who are looked down upon) get along cordially, and are united in the pride they have for their great city and nation.

Transport
In 1950, the city had less than 60,000 inhabitants, in the modern section known as the old town. By 1954, an increased rate of movement to the city caused Shah Ardeshir XI to implement a series of urban planning measures which preserved the old city, while creating a road system around it designed for vehicular traffic on a massive scale. These wide roads (the widest, Shahanshahi Boulevard, is 12 lanes across) ensure a relativley smooth traffic flow even during rush hour, an impressive feat for a city so large. The Parthian highway system also helps to connect Persepolis to its suburbs, and also, to the more distant cities of Parthia. The highways work on similar rules to the German Autobahn, with no speed limit beyond the 200km/h reccomended speed.

A rail system also exists, which connects Persepolis to all other cities and major towns in Parthia, though some station transfers may have to occur in order to reach some destinations.

Persepolis is served by two airports: Shah Ardeshir International Airport (SAP), which handles most international flights, located about 55km southeast of the city center, and also serves destinations to Shiraz, and the Shah Narseh International Airport (SNP), which serves mostly Parthian destinations, but also some regional destinations, like Istanbul or Dubai. Shah Narseh International Airport is located 25 kilometers south of the city center.

Economy
Persepolis is the headquarters of most Parthian buisnesses, functioning as a banking, IT, commercial, and industrial hub of the Parthian state. It's GDP by itself is immense, accounting for around 9% of the entire country. Per capita wealth is one of the highest in the world, at roughly $250,000 per year incomes being considered the median. Persepolis's large banking industry, as some would call, a massive organized industry specifically dedicated to helping people hide their money so they don't have to pay taxes on it, or laundering ill-gotten gains, is one of the largest in the world, and possibly the most trusted in the entire industry, is the single largest service industry in Persepolis, employing around 7% of the workforce. Other industries, however, also are considered some of the best in the world in terms of profitability, competitiveness, and quality. Persepolis lives up to the Parthian state's reputation as being perhaps one of the easiest nations in the world to do buisness, ensuring vast sums of foreign capital continue to pour in.

Culture
As the Capital of Parthia, Persepolis is very much the cultural center of the nation. Though Parthia is undoubtedly considered Westernized, the city remains heavily steeped in the traditional cultural practices of Persian civilization. The Parthian National Gallery, one of the largest collections of antiquities and art in the world, is a museum of the same quality as the Metropolitan or Louvre, serving as a repository for tens of thousands of pieces. Shahyad Symphony Hall, while not averse to the occasional performance of Western Classical Music, remains both a center of traditional Iranian music performance and a center of schooling in music.

In terms of dining, the capital offers a multitude of restauraunts considered exceptionally fine by Michelin reviewers, with ten restauraunts recieving the prestigious three star rating, thirty two recieving two, and an unbelievable 120 receving 1. Though most serve eclectic modern cuisine typical of the extremely upscale restauruants, some serve traditional Persian or Persian-Asian fusion cuisine. Many multitudes of excellent restauraunts, not rated by the Michelin guides, also exist, ensuring it is always easy to find a place to eat. Many of them are located in the Old Town of Persepolis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and continuously inhabited since the 7th century AD. Though much of the grand bazaar of the Persepolis Old Town has been appropriated by extremely high end fashion and furniture shops, it remains an extremely attractive and charming place, brought up to the standards of modern comforts and luxury.

The city is also the center of the Parthian Government, and though the Shah's main residence is situated 40 kilometers to the west of the city, the majority of government offices are situated in the city, as is a large penthouse apartment owned by the Shah.

Tourism
Persepolis is considered an excellent tourist destination due to its wide variety of sights, exhilerating and enjoyable nightlife that few places even in Eastern Europe can match, and luxury which can easily rival Dubai. Most tourism in Persepolis is geared towards the middle and upper income brackets, so low end accomodation tends to be scarce, as is low end dining with catering to tourists, though most Parthians speak English relativley well.

Persepolis boasts some of the finest accomodation and dining in the Middle East, Luxury hotel chains are easy to find: Persepolis has both a Ritz-Carlton, and a Four Seasons. However, the Shahanshahi Hotel is considered to be the best in the city; consisting of 244 suites of varying sizes, it attracts some of the wealthiest individuals from around the world. For the less wealthy, Persepolis offers many mid-range hotels, from small family-owned hotels, to the Persepolis Hilton and Hyatt. Traditional Persian food is ubiquitious, and highly reccomended to anyone who visits. Cute Bunny Burgers are also widely availibe, since Parthia has one of the largest numbers of franchises of any country on Earth.

Chaffee, District I, Armed Republic of Soviet Bloc

Overview
Chaffee, District I, embodies the heart and soul of the Armed Republic. It is not a towering megalith of architectural might and engineering magic, but a mere splash of minute urban sprawl propagated on an otherwise featureless plain. Nestled amongst the rectangular fields of this vast, great plain and the straight rows of shelterbelts, punctuated only by the lone blacktop which runs parallel with the only railroad entering, but not exiting this city, Chaffee was nominated by the exploratory committee of the Armed Republic for inclusion into the Inventory of World Cities. The reason was simple, and in the past power was centered wherever the most people resided and which contained as much concrete, glass, and steel as humanly possible. The world has since changed, with the population, of course not spread out, but instead networked and linked in ways never before imagined. Chaffee is not the most powerful, notable, or respectable city in the Armed Republic, instead, it, like every other municipality within the Armed Republic, is the Armed Republic.

Landmarks
The city limits of Chaffee are small, encompassing a mere quarter of a square mile [one hundred sixty-two acres]. However, amongst the local landscape, Chaffee itself proposes two notable additions to the crisp skyline. Rising further above anything in the immediate vicinity, is the city’s communications tower, painted in red and white and adorned with transmitters and receivers, amongst other pieces of equipment. The next most notable structure is the city’s Chaffee branch of the Chaffee-Lynchburg Farmer’s Elevator [now Maple River Grain and Agronomy]. A pale white, with a yellow band and the word CHAFFEE across its zenith, it stands sentinel over the fertile farmlands below and all around it. She does not stand alone, and is augmented by the bright, metal-gray series of hundred-thousand bushel grain bins which dot the perimeter. At this elevator is where the Chaffee branch of the Red River Valley and Western Railroad ends, and where, once upon a distant time, the fabled Ladies’ Line [A railroad line branched off here and every city upon her was given a female name; Alice, Aneta, Kathryn, etc.] once began.

The only remaining landmarks within this city of thirty-six people are its Main Street. It’s only named street, and encompassing the sole piece of blacktop highway which cuts through the city on its way to Embden and Alice beyond. The commercial aspect of the city centers here, in a single strip of buildings composed of two businesses. The Bronco Bar is the social and community center, and draws patrons from miles around. Hahn’s Repair provides service to everything from outdoor power equipment to heavy industrial equipment. On the east side of the city is what remains of its school, the red and white gymnasium along with a baseball diamond.

Transportation
District I Highway 27 provides the most direct route to, and from, Chaffee. This two-lane non-shouldered highway runs perpendicular to major Highways 18 and 38. The remaining roads are all gravel or minimum maintenance, although County Road 5 provides transportation south to Highway 46.

The railway, a branch of the Red River Valley and Western, is operating in its last few months of service. Within three months, the railway service to Chaffee will be discontinued and the end of the line will be moved further east to the city of Lynchburg. No passenger service has operated in Chaffee since 1922.

Sports
Chaffee sports a single junior sports team, the Chaffee Mustangs baseball team. Several classes exist and draw primarily farm youth from the region to participate in baseball games at the city’s baseball field and in other regional cities, eventually culminating in regional and then district championships and playoffs. The Chaffee Mustangs, a revitalization of the city’s former Chaffee High School team, have not yet won any major award.

Media
The city of Chaffee has not had a media publication its entire lifetime. Instead, its source of paper news has been from a regional news paper operated out of a more heavily populated city. The only radio station within range is RQLX [890AM; 106.1FM] and provides primarily agricultural-related news [AM], local sports coverage [AM/FM], and Country/Western/Folk music on its FM station. Television service is provided by distant RVLY and RVRR with cable and satellite service readily available.

However, largely supplanting these conventional forms of news and media, the city is now a regional communications center. Within its city limits is a local fiber optic hub [fiber optics were instituted in the Rural Fiber Optic Communications Administration; along with a revitalized energy distribution grid] which routes fiber optic service to a several hundred square mile area and provides its residents, and all those in surrounding territory, access to a wide range of features from television, to music, to unparalleled internet access.

Role in the Armed Republic
The city of Chaffee, although not even a city by official standards , provides little major, direct role to any facet of the Armed Republic. Instead, it is a piece of fabric in a far-reaching quilt which spans the entirety of the Armed Republic. Its duty is interlinked with that of every other city in the region, and the country as a whole. Maple River Grain and Agronomy is the region’s de-facto farmer’s cooperative, and regulates the price and basis for agricultural commodities for a region of several hundred square miles. The farms which reside in this region are some of the most fertile in the country, and lead the nation in the use of technology to increase yields, reduce downtime, reduce field loss, and increase all forms of efficiency in the field. Chaffee was the first city to incorporate, fund, and use a regional mapping system to allow for region-wide tractor guidance and field monitoring. Chaffee’s history is also rich and spans well over a hundred years, old farmsteads dot the landscape and the remains of dozens of abandoned cities are located near river oxbows and where they once believed the railroads would travel. The people in this region provide an incredible look at the true face of the Armed Republic, we are not concrete and glass and asphalt as suggested by the large cities. Instead, the people of the Armed Republic are hard working, resilient and remember exactly where their roots are anchored solid, as suggested by the fields which bear the fruits of their labor, only to be torn and plowed under to do it all again to no fanfare or public acknowledgement. There is, after-all, a reason why the Armed Republic’s motto is “[i]Strength from the Soil”.

NEORVINS
City centre population: 5.4 million (2006 estimated)
Metropolitan area: 15,014,984 (2004 census)

Neorvins is Kelssek's capital and third-largest city. It is the centre of the nation's federal government, with the Parliament, Supreme Court, and Presidential Palace located there. As the backdrop of many events in Kelssek's history it is also of great cultural and historical significance. As home to two of Kelssek's most prestigious universities it also boasts a vibrant and youthful cultural scene and the city itself is one of the factors thousands of international students chose Victoria University of Neorvins or the Gordon Downie College of Fine Arts.

POLITICAL SIGNIFICANCE
As the nation's capital and the centre of the activities of the federal government, Neorvins is undoubtedly the most important city in Kelssek from a political standpoint. Kelssek's role in the East Pacific, one of the game's largest regions, is also a significant one, both in the workings of the regional government and Kelssek's status as a regional power, and Kelssek is also active in the United Nations. This makes Neorvins an important city in regional and global politics as well. One historic diplomatic event which occured in Neorvins were the peace talks in the Krechzianko-Vladistock Island war (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Krechzianko-Vladistock_War).

ECONOMIC/FINANCIAL SIGNIFICANCE
Admittedly, Neorvins's economic significance is much less than that of Kirkenes or Outineau. Nevertheless, it does hold a large amount of economic importance. It is the headquarters of the Trades Union Congress, the federation of trade unions, which collectively control 25% of Kelssek's economy through worker-owned private enterprises. The headquarters of state enterprises and many national cooperatives, such as National Insurance and the Kelssek Public National Bank are located in Neorvins. Kelssek's 4th-largest commercial bank, the Bank of Neorvins, is also headquartered here. Neorvins is also a major centre for microelectronics and high-tech manufacturing.

CULTURAL SIGNIFICANCE
Neorvins has a wide variety of cultural facilities and a highly lively and vibrant cultural scene. While not necessarily the cultural epicentre of the country, because vibrant and lively cultural scenes are the norm in Kelssek it would easily eclipse the cultural life of most other cities; the bar for a Kelssekian city is relatively high.

Among the venues for theatre and the performing arts are the historic Royal Opera House (Manitoba Ave/Charlton), the Palace Theatre (Manitoba Ave/Sassoon), Rob Baker Hall (Gagnon/Koivu), and the outdoor theatre in Parc Elliot Trudeau. Cultural activity is not confined to these formal venues, however. Buskers are prevalent in city parks and in the NUR stations, and small venues like cafes and bars are where you can find new music being made by bands just landing their first gigs. Some of the bands Neorvins has produced include Egress, Fathers of Confederation, The Wet Ducks, The Bloated Scrotums, Too Many Men On The Ice, The Lost Salt Shakers, The Zamboni Driving Maniacs, and Tractor Beam.

Significant museums include the Downie Museum of Modern Art (Downie Ave/Roy), the Pan Pacific Photography Gallery (McKay/Station) the Museé Pyramide (Place Paul Langlois), the National Gallery (Bailey/Beveridge), the Museum of Animation and Drawing (Maurice Richard/Laviolette) and the Frontiers Gallery (Bailey/Vitesse), which exhibits the work of Downie College students. The Quartier Francais has an especially active street scene, and Looptown, home to a large Infinite Loop immigrant community, has a very unique atmosphere.

Neorvins is home to one of Kelssek's most renowned universities, the Victoria University of Neorvins, which has over 30,000 students and is especially known for its law and humanities courses. The Gordon Downie College of Fine Arts is home to Kelssek's top-ranked architecture program and is a centre for aspiring designers, as well as for students pursuing media studies such as film and sound courses. Both universities have created an area of student-driven culture around them.

A great deal of history also exists in Neorvins. The Old City (north of Downie Ave between Parliament House and rue Gagnon) was the only part of the city which survived a massive fire in 1872, but the city's central role in Kelssek's history means it breathes history. The old palace of the Guedian Kings who ruled for almost 400 years is restored and used as a historical museum (Downie Ave/Hepburn) and Canada Square was the site where the revolution leading to the establishment of modern Kelssek took place. Not far from here is the spot where two labour activists were beaten to death by police, sparking the riots of 1968.

Many people would have heard of Neorvins from the KBC World Service, which announces at the top of every hour that "it is xx hrs UTC and xx hours in Neorvins". The World Service's live programs are broadcast from the KBC's studios next to Canada Square. The daily Neorvins Herald newspaper is a major newspaper of record. Neorvins is also home to the private news channel National News Centre (NNC).

TRANSPORTATION AND INFRASTRUCTURE
Neorvins's public transportation system is highly developed and is aimed at minimising the need for car use. Commuter rail (Neotrack) and mass transit railways (NUR, Neorvins Underground Railway) carry 4 million commuters daily, while buses provide service to almost every street in the city.

Federal Highway 1 (Trans Kelssek Highway) runs through the city's downtown core, running south to Saint-Remy, Outineau, Pimbury and Willsden Harbour, and north to Kirkenes, Redswyth, Latrobe, Clayquot, Kenting Rush and the Nouveau Bretagne border. Federal Highway 42 (Douglas Adams Highway) begins at the intersection of Downie Avenue and Beveridge Street, and runs west to Mazinaw, Vickery, Burnaby, Laneux and Dieppe to the Coocoostan border, where it connects with the Trans Coocoostan Highway. A system of expressways, maintained by the city government and financed by the federal government, provides intra-city transportation.

Inter-city rail services are located at the Bay Square railway station, which is served by Via Rail, the Kelssek Pacific Railway (KPR), and the Kelssek National Railway (KN).

The city has two public airports. The Neorvins City Centre Airport is a commuter airport used for short-range travel and general aviation, while Mackenzie King International Airport, located 32km northwest, is a major passenger airport with 35 million passengers annually, the main hub for Maple Star Airlines and a secondary hub for Air Kelssek.

SPORTS AND RECREATION
In addition to city parks, Neorvins is a centre for watersports with several facilities at Cohen Park's shoreline catering to this. Most popular of these is waterskiing and wakeboarding, while surfers head for Bucklands Beach 12km north along the Trans Kelssek Highway. Bois de Forneaux northwest near the City Centre Airport and The Domain 11km west of the downtown are both large parks popular with joggers. Both parks also have spacious leash-free enclosures where dog owners can let their pets off the leash; dogs must be leashed at all times in all other public spaces.

Neorvins is home to several professional sports teams. The Neorvins Wolves hockey club of KHL Division One are one of Kelssek's most successful ice hockey teams and play at the Federation Arena (Quebec Ave/Yonge Ave). Rugby union team Neorvins Argos of the Rugby Superleague play at the Canada Stadium in the Commonwealth Park sports complex on the northern end of the Tommy Douglas Bridge, as do professional football team Capital FC. The Kelssek Water Polo League's Neorvins Titans play at the National Aquatics Arena (Desjardins/Watterson Sts). Amateur lacrosse and baseball is also played at the Bayshore Stadium on the north end of Cohen Park (Manitoba Ave/Bay Shore Ave)

AREAS OF INTEREST
Much has already been said about cultural venues, but tourists will also want to see the green belt known as the Maple Leaf Parade, lined with monuments including the Revolutionaries Monument and Peace Arch, which connects the Supreme Court building at its north end to Parliament House on the south end. Between Federation Park and the shore of Kelpton Bay, Saint-Exupéry is the oldest and one of the main commercial areas of Neorvins. Office towers line Manitoba Avenue, among them the Bank of Neorvins Tower, Friendship Place - the headquarters of Foreign Affairs Kelssek, the Laurentia Tower Hotel, and the Desjardins Building as well as historic city landmarks like the Palace Theatre and Royal Opera House. A mix of commercial and residential high-rises is also found in Federation Park West, which is located where the name implies, where you can also find the Pacific Tower, Kelssek's tallest building at 630 meters. Paul Machnau Square just next to it is a famous spot for skateboarding.

South Halifax is a primarily residential area with shops and mid-rise condos. The majority of embassies are located in this area. Just a bit further north, along the river on Sussex Drive, is the Prime Minister's Residence. Further north is Bown Hill, a wealthier suburb and North Halifax riverside area which has some high-rise apartment buildings.

Major shopping areas include the historic Old City, where in addition to the preserved buildings converted to street-level shops, cafes and restaurants you can also visit the famous Queen Sophia Market (Bailey/Darwin streets). A modern, glitzy mall complex greets you at Place Bouchemin in the Quartier Francais (boulevard Geoffrion/rue Savard) where three very large floors of retail and entertainment are topped with a rooftop park.
