Trade by rail.

OOC: Hello all nations interested in trading. I have an idea for an RP where South Lizasauria's rail lines begin shipping goods between nations participating in this thread to improve trade. To make things interesting you can add train robbers, terrorists, ans other interesting situations for the South Lizasaurian rail line to deal with.

IC: Rail workers placed down their tools as the mayor of Caldinstadt raised his giant golden scissors and cut the red ribbons at the new station entrance thus officially opening it. South Lizasaurian police and federal agents armed with semi-automatic weapons went to their positions to guard the area in case anyone should attack.

Mayor Matt Melvin: I am proud to announce that the SLFR Railroad has successfully connected to our town! *crowd applauses at the thought of new jobs and a better economy*

The mayor gestured to the crowd to become silent so he could speak some more.

Mayor: As you know down south from this town is a heavily guarded border, now that terrorist threats are minimal the SLFR has a chance to trade with foreign nations, this increases trade and in time should increase the quality of our lifestyle! *crowd applauses*

OOC: Are there any nations that would like to play as the neighboring nations?

OOC: I have colonies here and there, so i could be next door. I also have some annoying thieves/smugglers in my nation, so if you have a shipment of high quality steel or gun parts or scrap copper... Didn't we fight Grace Academy long ago?

IC:

The Colonies of The Community of Siap are conveniently accesible via rail to your nation. We would like to extend trade, but first we need to know what goods you have and what you need.

OOC: Yes we did fight Grace Academy. I looked him up in nations and it says his country no longer exists, lets just say they broke up and dissolved like the Soviet Union did or something. My nation being an FT nation has tons of new alloys made from combining different molten metals together. However my railroad only has steam trains withing the border, FT industries eat up electricity and the fossil fuels we have is either for sale to other nations or meant for military and civillian use only, my nation can't spare fuel for the railroad ICly.

IC: The next freighter to Lividston had eight cars of oil, four cars full of diesel and several flat cars with large metal poles on them, boxcars with machine guns and cannons were latched on as the train backed into them thus adding the new cars onto the train. The train was a Pacific steam train. It made monstrous chugging noises as it backing into flatcars with cannons and various AA weapons on them, the destination was the airfield, the light was green, the train whistled signifying that it jus began its two mile journey to the military base near the outskirts of Lividston. The only way to get the train was to switch the track away from the capitol to a less well guarded area, then the goods would be easy target.

Strategic Analysis of South Lizasauria railroad system

... The railway is a highly strategic target in any conflict in South Lizasauria. It is the backbone of their transportation system. A strategic air strike should disable them in any conflict ...

OOC: If you want, the people planning your economy could apply for the continuing education studies in economics at Esmund University...

IC: A man wearing an army jacket with no insignia and black track pants made his way up to the railroad office. His hair was jet black and his skin was tanned, and sunglasses obscured his face. He had several concealed pistols, but was there to make an offer.

Entering the office "Sir, I'm sorry if I am interrupting anything, but I have a lovely offer for you. You, sir, could be a very rich man, and all you need to do is see that the train takes the long route around the capitol."

(Meanwhile INTEL nearby Lividston arifield)

INTEL captain Sir! We have a suspicion that the enemy may try to use weak spots in our railroad against us.

INTEL officer: Well, that would dent our economy but I they'd have do deal with our frigates (FT flying transport vessels) as well. Warn the capitol to send out more air patrols and have the frigates at the ready, send all steam trains across the border to safe territory once they're done with their assigned work.

Captain: Yes sir!

OOC: Frigates take up more fuel and have more trouble transporting goods, so trains are more practical though they usually don't carry goods in the same numbers as a frigate would.

"Well I have this." he threw down a schematic.

"Its a lovely little warhead, based on the W54, with lithium deuteride and lithium tritiride. Now, I'm just saying this, but I think if you weren't too careful, it would be a shame if it detonated in the train. I mean, I do happen to know you have sonme advanced technology and everything, but not much you can do about a big cloud of gamma radiation. And it would be a damn shame if it was wired to the train and set to detonate after traveling two miles. It would be a damn shame also if it was wired to detonate if anyone touched it, I mean really. Hypothetically, if this was true, and those guys I saw sneaking in the rail yard before were to do something like this, well, maybe they would find it in the goodness of their hearts to disarm this thing if the train went out of its way a bit and they lightened the load, hmm?"

OOC: I know this is cheesy, but I kinda have writers' block

"I dunno." The man shrugged. "If I were running the show and I knew a lot of radiation was going to blow up all over the place, I'd want to have the train far away from civilization. And definitely don't tell any military or police people. Wouldn't want them to get hurt or anything." He said lighting up a cigarette.

"Mind if I smoke?"

Meanwhile the SLFR began laying track towards the nearest Siapian colony, the construction stopped at the border, the company stood by to buy building and business rights into Siap. They offered the Siapian government money if they would be allowed to start business on their territory, the Siapians got to choose the price.

OOC: In real life railroads need to buy the right to start business in foreign countries. Before they get rights into that nation they can't build track, or anything on the forign soil.

IC: The SLFR is willing to pay two million in USD in order to gain permission to start expanding our railroad into Siap. We await the government's response.

"If I hear any trouble from my boys, I'll take those diseased lungs out for you." The man said, twirling a dagger in his hand.

Meanwhile, while the train rumbled through the abandoned part of the countryside, men assembled in the woods. The charge that was placed detonated, however it was slightly different from what the man in the office described. Firstly, it was made of RDX, a non-nuclear plastic explosive, and secondly, there were two of them. The first one was on the train itself, and it detonated on the connecting cords that attatched the weapons cars to the cargo cars. The auto-braking system installed in every train would kick in, seperating the guns from the prize. The second charge was on the railroad tracks themselves and it detonated about ten minutes later under a diesel car, creating a vast explosion that would seperate the flat cars from the engine, and quite possibly destroying the rest of the oil. Small bulldozers quickly appeared from the woods and cords were lashed around the pipes, which were dragged into the woods. After several miles of travel, they would cross the border into the Siapian-controlled lands, and they would be towed to the riverbed, where they would be hidden under the river and periodically recovered and floated down the sea.

Official Siapian Response:

We are willing to sell you 50 acres of land for the aforementioned price. This land will require clearing, but will connect to the central rail network in this colony, enabling you to reach all potential markets here.

The man standing with the station master looked at him. He took out his knife and in one swift motion cut off the carbon filters of the gas mask and blew a lung full of smoke into the man's face before running out the door. "Thanks pal." He said, disappearing out of sight.

OOC: I thought this thread died so I didn't know about the detonation as the post in the other thread suggests.

IC:
The stationmaster fell on the ground coughing up blood, twenty minutes later somebody saw him and called for medical aid, he died once they got him to the hospital.

South Lizasaura reinstated the law that policemen must be pervasive. This wasn't the worse of it, old loyalists to the old fascist dominion saw opportunity to turn the nation into a fascist state once more. Men wearing sunglasses attacked a gun shop holding the clerk at gunpoint with an uzi. Tons of colt 45s and 9mm berretas were stolen. The fascist now had an underground cell along with people working inside the government.
