This is Don Evans from the HBC 1 Studios in Seaburg. We're now cutting over to Yespani where Lord Rosecrans is beginning his conference.


"My fellow Hamptonians, citizens of the United Realms and people across the world, I come to you tonight under joyous circumstances. After six days and thirty-two ballots the Royal Conclave has come to an end; we have a monarch. By more than the required four-fifths supermajority dictated by law and tradition the Royal Senate has continued our precious tradition of elected monarchy. It was the final order of the Conclave that the results would not be released until the two other candidates aside from myself could come to Yespani and join me in front of the Royal Palace. I am honored to stand before the world with Princess Anne and Prince Timothy by my side. I am privileged to be able to call them both friends.

"Before I read the official pronouncement I would like to take this time to thank my fellow citizens for giving me their trust this past year. Last year was a time most of us would rather not remember. So many of us lost friends and loved ones. Our nation was scarred by the treacherous actions of a group of deviants and traitors. However when our country was faced with the threat of eternal night and oppression we rose up and took back what is our birthright: liberty. From the ashes we formed a new, revitalized government that can carry our precious and sacred nation into the next millennium. Under our revised government we have new legislative bodies to ensure that the government will respond to the will of the people. We have a popularly elected Chancellor who represents the hopes, aspirations and desires of all Hamptonians. It has been my supreme honor and privileged to serve as a leader during this time of transition. I will always cherish the time that I served as the Lord Protector.

"Now, though, is the time to look not to the past but to the innumerable days of our future. As Dean of the Royal Conclave and with the Prince and Princess at my side I speak now for the Senate and promulgate the binding decision of the Royal Conclave:

WHEREAS it has pleased Almighty God to call to his mercy our late Sovereign Lord Grand Duke Reginald Leopold I, of blessed and glorious memory, by whose Decease the Crown is solely and rightfully come to the Royal Senate to be given, with its consent, to the person of its choosing:

WE, therefore, the Honorable Members of the Royal Senate, being here assisted with these His late Royal Highness's Privy Council, do now hereby with one Voice and Consent of Tongue and Heart publish and proclaim, That the High and Mighty Princess Patricia Anne Sophia is now, by the election and acclamation of the Royal Senate, become Grand Archduchess Anne I, Empress of the Hamptonians by the Grace of God, to whom Her Lieges do acknowledge all Faith and constant Obedience with hearty and humble Affection, beseeching God by whom Sovereigns do reign, to bless the Royal Lord, Anne I, with long and happy Years to reign over us. God Save the Sovereign.

With a joyful heart I give you our new sovereign, Her Imperial, Royal and Apostolic Majesty Grand Archduchess Anne I, Empress of the Hamptonians. May her reign be long and glorious."


Lord Rosecrans steps away from the podium and bows deeply to the new sovereign. Anne walks to the podium as hundreds of brilliant flashes bombard the stage. The new Grand Archduchess paused until the photographers had their momentary fill of the young monarch.


"I want to extend to Lord Rosecrans the thanks of a grateful nation and monarch. He has borne the burden of power and duty more than any man should have to. His unwavering dedication to Hamptonshire should be a model for all of us. If each citizen can act without only the most minute portion of the valor the Duke showed every day, our nation and the world will be a better place.

It is with a heavy and reluctant heart that I become sovereign. I did not seek the Throne nor do I feel that I deserve it. I will spend my time serving you as sovereign working to prove to myself and all Hamptonians that I am equal to the task that has been set before me. With your support and prayers I know that I and the elected government of the United Realms will be able to lead our Empire into a golden, safe and prosperous future. May God bless the United Realms and may Divine Providence protect and guide you all."


This is Don Evans again from the HBC 1 studios in Seaburg. We have just seen the proclamation of Princess Anne as the new Grand Archduchess and Empress of the Hamptonians. Her Majesty is scheduled to deliver a longer formal address to the Royal Senate at its chambers in Obsidia. The Cabinet Office has yet to confirm the time but the speech should occur either Saturday or Sunday.

We at the Hamptonian Broadcasting Corporation wish Her Majesty a long and happy reign. We also thank Lord Rosecrans for his all of his decades of dutiful service to the nation. For HBC 1, I'm Don Evans.

The Lord Protector Phillip Rosecrans, along with his fellow noble Hamptonian government officials, have helped rebuilt the Grand Duchy of Hamptonshire by assisting in its reformation into the Grand Archduchy of the United Realms of the Hamptonian Empire. But that does not mean that the Southeast Asian Federal-Parliamentarian Government or the Southeast Asian general public views you as less of great capacity than a leader like Lord Rosecrans, Grand Archduchess Anne the First. General Hamptonian commitment to humanity and concepts like liberal democracy have earned the Grand Archduchy of Hamptonshire great respect amongst Southeast Asians, and given your nation's tight friendships with the United Kingdom of Oceania and the Democratic Capitalist Republic of Pacitalia, this has only solidified oppurtunities for the Hamptonian-Southeast Asian relationship and the same for the other two aforementioned states.

The world watched Hamptonshire slowly, but defiantly, break the shell of its oppressor, and return to its peaceful, prosperous glory. Now, you, Your Majesty, are the face of that determined, defiant, glorious movement - the new Grand Archduchess.

Both our countries have experienced some form of strife this past year. That is without question. But we have all learned to persevere. In the face of disaster, in the face of defeat, we still triumphed and created miracles for the national spirit, and certainty and peace-of-mind for our people simply by having never given up the fight. And now, here we stand, with Hamptonshire officially fully recovered from its nearly two-year crisis, and with her brothers, the Pacitalians, ready to accomplish the same. Pacitalians await the results of Friday's secret-ballot vote on our new political system with anxiety but also the burning desire to move forward.

The Pacitalian people share a special kinship with you, Your Majesty. Whether it be through your gracious charity work both in Hamptonshire and in Pacitalia, your fluency in our language, or through your love of this country, its people, its landscape and its culture, Pacitalians love and admire you in return. They -- and we -- are proud to see someone so fiercely loyal to her people, so concerned with the welfare of her country, accede the Hamptonian throne. The past year has not been kind to either of our nations. However, with our determination and strength of conviction we were both able to face our demons and defeat them. Now Hamptonians and Pacitalians alike have only the future to worry about. My election and your constitutional revision process mark turning points in both our histories. The Grand Archduchy of Hamptonshire has crowned a new Arch-Duchess today, Ann I. She has stated in a speech that "it is with a heavy heart that she became sovereign" after she was introduced by Lord Rosecrans. The Government of the Republic has yet to state its formal position on this, in other news, World of Warcraft is blamed for lowering the general population...

Sergei raised his brow and stopped playing. "Eh what?!" He stood up angrily. "Why am I never told these things? No! I need to find out via the TV. Ah well screw this I'm writing a fancy message myself to congratulate her!" He shouted with his thick Russianess. "And I shall send Gary over there, to the Rosian Embassy, to meet with her personally, with a gift. Yes!"

He paused. "No I won't, I'm too lazy to post anymore anyway... I mean, oh crap."
