The Kobold Alliance
Background
The Kobold Alliance came into being with the invasion of the Valgardians, conquering those within the valley. A party of high-level adventurers were forced to flee as the encroaching armies laid waste to the peoples living there. When they reached the mountains, they continued to cut down all in their way, causing a crisis relevant to all the natives of the area. As such, the adventurers travelled between tribes and towns and made links, forming the natives of the mountains into one large alliance - the Kobold Alliance, for the majority race. Under the united banner, they began to slow the advance to where the borders lie today.

As the closest to the Valgardian advance and the most personally affected, the Alliance has the most outright hatred for the foreigners and will likely not accept anything but a total withdrawl from their ancestral lands for peace.

Government
The Kobold Alliance is more of a military bloc and is still in its early stages. Most government remains in the tribal stages, and the head of the alliance is comprised of the adventurer group, a few dragons presiding over the odd tribes and a council of chieftains.

Also, while lacking slightly in nominal power, the great power the Chamber holds over the alliance is acknowledged widely within. The Chamber itself does not object to this, the situation giving them both power and safety simultaneously.

Technology
The kobolds possess the capacity to create alchemical explosives, and in large quantities, through co-opted experts directing entire tribes in the production. They also have reserves of high powered magical gear, doled out to small squads of kobold agents by the Chamber. However, their main advantage is their incredible birth rate combined with their mining capacity and sudden organisation.

Remarkable Military Tactics
The signature tactic of the Kobold Alliance is to undermine the battlefield using their superior mining capabilities and, using large quantities of explosives, blowing the whole field sky high, as well as any troops unfortunate enough to be caught on the land. As is typical of kobolds, any advance into their territory is incredibly dangerous, as it is riddled with traps, ambushes and deadly chokeholds. Unfortunately, all of these take time to create, so they are most powerful on their own ground.

Military Numbers
Militarily, the Kobold Alliance is difficult to gauge, though estimates have ranged from tens of thousands and some guesses over a million. The closest estimate so far is around 500,000 individuals, but even so the Alliance's leaders prefer to leave such things vague.

Remarkable Characters
Faryn Greenleaf
Chaotic Neutral Half-Dragon Elf Sorceror 10 Blue Dragon Disciple 5 Wild Mage 10
Faryn is widely considered to be more than slightly insane, and the fact that she has slowly changed in apppearance to a half dragon has alienated her even further. Even so, her extraordinary arcane powers and her proud assertions of draconic heritage has been a factor in the formation of the Alliance. People (on both sides) have been known to run for cover whenever she is seen preparing to channel her magic.

Thraine Whetstone
Lawful Good Dwarf Fighter 5 Knight Protector 10 Dervish 10
Thraine is a true terror to behold on the battlefield and a stalwart soldier at heart. A strong sense of loyalty to those around him has led him across many lands before helping form the Kobold Alliance. While he doesn't approve entirely of the venture, he does believe that his presence will help keep some of the worse abuses in check.

Vardel
Lawful Neutral Kobold Druid 25
Videl is known for his little green cap, and was the main instigator of the Alliance. As a powerful Iredar Druid, it was easy for him to hold sway over other tribes and unite them under the one banner. Nonetheless, by aligning himself with the Chamber he has afforded his alliance some measure of stability in the event of his demise.

Dernalia Steelstaff
Chaotic Good Gnome Rogue 10 Thief-Acrobat 5 Shadowdancer 10
Dernalia is an unusual character, a gnome among kobolds. While not immensely liked, her agility and skill has made her a respected figure in the Alliance, and her trapmaking ability rivals even the best kobold trapmasters. She has an uncanny sense for trouble, and more than one alliance member has attested to her simply vanishing from sight when wanted. Even more have attested to her suddenly appearing behind their backs with absolutely no warning.

Retegunexiaras
True Neutral Great Wyrm Red Dragon
Retegunexiaras is the foremost among the few dragons in the Kobold Alliance, and one of the wisest. Despite the matte red colouration of his scales, he takes a very balanced worldview, and is often looked to for advice when the alliance convenes. Extraordinarily powerful in his own right, he is often in the guise of a simple kobold and is surrounded at all times by a squad of crack kobold guards for his protection.

Vaikwur of the Emerald Cloak
Lawful Neutral Kobold Wizard 5 Mage of the Arcane Order 10 Archmage 5 Fatespinner 5 Argent Savant 5
Vaikwur is an exile, ejected from Kobold society for abandoning his draconic heritage to pursue the arts of wizardry. He has since, in his exile, constructed an arcane bastion, a true testament to the work ethic of kobolds and the powers of studied and developed magic. As one of the most powerful wizards, he regularly is required to deal with issues that arise among the mountaineous races - a constant source of annoyance. It has become the unspoken rule that "If you can get past the traps, you can have an appointment.".

I'mdyp the Swift
Lawful Neutral Kobold Ninja 14 Ninja Spy 6
I'mdyp is one of the finest infiltrators in the employ of the Chamber, and is immensely valued for her ability to perform feats of almost magical stealth and acrobatics, but is inexplicably invisible to even the best divination efforts. When seen in person, she wears a simple coolie hat and a loose fitting pitch black suit. Concealed in her cloak are all manner of wands and rods, stored in carefully practised positions so she can flick out any in a split second. If you can see her coming, you're either damn good or already dead.

Tribzez
Neutral Good Kobold Scout 10 Order of the Bow Initiate 10
Tribzez is a marksman. His bow knows no boundaries and he can strike a man dead with his bow from 300 feet. While in practice, this long range accuracy rarely, if ever, comes into play, he is still a fine marksman and an able scout, often found patrolling the mountain ranges on his trusty dire weasel Hrathok. Unlike most of his ranger peers, he bears little ill will towards his targets and approaches his job with the determination of one whose emotions are not clouded by anger, firing deadly arrow after arrow at his marks.

Kralwyr Bluebottle the Intoxicated
Chaotic Good Human Monk 12 Drunken Master 9
Kralwyr - possibly the most unassuming martial arts master to be found in all of the world. A master of the highly controversial Drunken Boxing school, involving the imbibing of copious amounts of alcohol. Many a city guard has found himself clobbered by Kralwyr with a tankard only for him to take another swig of it seconds later. Whilst not a magic user by any meaning of the term, his drunken ramblings have some truth to them. "It's fer medishnal perpeshes" is a common phrase heard from him before quaffing another drink and inexplicably improving in health.

Baisriel the Musician
Chaotic Good Kobold Bard 5 Dragonsong Lyrist 5 Seeker of the Song 10
Commonly referred to as merely 'The Musician', Baisriel is one of the greatest musicians to have ever lived, a true musician to the exclusion of all else. Some say he has heard the primal music of the universe, while others argue that it is the ancient melody of the dragons. No matter the school of debate, it is agreed that in his music lies a subtle, magical essence that can inspire great joy or great sadness in his listeners. Some say that when he plays, there is a chorus of ancient dragons behind him singing to his tune, while others maintain that his music contains the divine touch. A school of music has formed upon these tenets, and many otherwise ordinary minstrels have taken up the search for the ancient, beautiful music after hearing his performances.
