This is the classical third-world-war-total-destruction thread. Year 2050 the world was almost destroyed by global nuclear war, civilization as we know it is destroyed, and man is back in the stone-age (figuratively speaking). The biggest problem wasn't the nuclear war itself, though. Nuclear weapons weren't used as heavily as predicted; it was the chaos that followed that did most damage. The infrastructure crumbled, people were isolated and started to panic. Looting started taking place, the governments were unable to cope with this new threat, and disaster was a fact.

This RP takes place in the US, year 2065, 15 years after the great war. The people of the world are split into three categories: villagers, bandits, and loners. Villagers live in small fortified communities where they farm the land, hunt, and try to make a living. Bandits roam the country, attacking villages and travelers, trying to get their hands on anything they can before moving on. They range from small gangs to organized militia. Loners are people who travel through the country, nomads who keep searching for what once was, but usually don't find it.

Choose your character from the above three categories. Have fantasy, the options are limitless:Villager, Village leader, Bandit, Bandit leader, Lone traveler, male, female, kaukasian, afro-american, latino, asian, arab, scandinavian, young, old, middle-aged etc. etc.

Tech-level: Good weapons are scarce, ammunition is worth gold. No electricity, no cars. (Well, unless you're a good mechanic and have found a somewhat intact car...) Money is worthless, bartering is the currency. Cities are desolated, villages are spread throughout the countryside. Horses are the fastest means of transportation...(kinda "wild west" atmosphere)

Goal:There is only one city in America where there are functioning electricity, schools and military. It's name is Megapolis, and it has approximately 40 milj. inhabitants. Megapolis has started to broadcast its existence on the radio, but since few people have a battery driven radio, and very few people have batteries, and nobodycares to listen to the radio after 15 years of silence, very few people are aware of it's existence. (The reason why Megapolis doesn't make its presence known by sending out airplanes and cars, is that certain automated laser-satellites still orbit the earth and would probably detect and destroy them. Even broadcasting can only be done for a short time every day, when the city jams the satellites for a short time, in order to prevent them from tracing the signal and destroying the city.) Of course, once our characters learn of the city's existence, they will want to go there...

Good to know: If you watch movies a lot, you might know what I mean when I say that this is going to be something like "The Postman" meets "Madmax"...

Anyone interested? Sign your character up, and don't forget to bring your Geiger counter... :p

OOC:

I'm in, I'd jsut suggest doing it on the Nationstates forum, it tends to be more active to this type of RP.

I'll give it a bash. Though Megapolis is a bit cheesy....

I'd go for a middle aged caucasian Ex-Military guy, a villager type, who stays in the village and forages with his son. With a rifle, naturally.

OOC: Are we limited to one character? If not, I'd like to play a small group of cowboy types. Horses to ride, cattle to eat, foraging in desolated cities from time to time.

Sure thing Aeson, that sounds ok...

Kazkahstania, I actually posted this thread on the NS-forums... or am I missing something here?

I'll post the IC-thread towards the end of this week...:)

I'm interested. I'd like to have my people as a band of sell-swords, essentially working for whoever will pay them in what it is they need, be it food, fuel or ammunition for their weapons.

Of course, if the client won't pay them after the work's done, they aren't averse to a little debt-collection...

Sounds good... maybe you could be hired to protect Kazkahstanias village...?

They could quite possibly do that... also, any real 'limit' on what kind of transport? You see, there's bound to be a lot of zoos are in the US... a lot with some unqiue animals... some which would have survived and went feral and possibly thrived...

The tanks of the future... 'Trumpeters'... see where I'm going? :D

heh. I'll stick my nose in, i guess.

20-something year old male Caucasian loner, but more for want of a better option so far than anything else, master of starves, above average at strategy, battlefield tactics [not small unit tactics, really], designing defensive works, and generally plotting and scheming. loyal, possibly to a fault, once convinced the person in question deserves his allegiance. does not suffer fools gladly.

sufficiently capable to survive on his own, but doesn't enjoy it.

distinct lack of charisma. generally seems... wrong. [not that there's anything fantastical about him or anything. it's just like some people fade into the background, and others dominate a room]

sound good/useful/whatever?

Unfortunately, my schedule is quite full at the moment, so I won't be able to post on this thread... But, if there still is anybody interested in this, feel free to make an IC-thread yourself... :(
