Celebration for the Completion of the New Imperial Palace(MT)

The Scandinvans
19-01-2007, 05:24
Today, after many long seasons of labor on the new palace for the Imperial family it has been finished. The design of the palace itself was designed solely by Sir Galeazzo Gaviscilio of Cotenshire in the baroque style of architecture. The palace covers a large area of many square miles deep in the Scandinvan northern river valleys where is quite hidden away from the dangers of a ground or air based attack due to a massive series of defenses and a contigment of the special Imperial air force. As well, guarding the palace are 15,000 soldiers of the Imperial Personal Guard who are the most fanatical and loyal soldiers to the Emperor in the whole of the Empire.

So to all friendly with the Empire are welcome to come where they shall be a grand celebration and ball at the palace, with more then adequate protection. As well, at the celebration shall attend a great majority of the Imperial nobility, some of whom shall procure a residence there, and as for the celebration there shall be a great feast as well in honor of the guests where people friendly to the Empire shall be thanked well.

A small entourage from the Divinus Imperium of Intracircumcordei can be expected if welcome. If so gifts and well wishes are on their way. The offer to assist in underground structures within the palaces is still an open offer. ---- As relayed by the Emperor of the D.I. of Intracircumcordei himself --- hopefully not to dour the occassion all to much ----

"Apparently there is some protest over the express and neglect of the commoners in regard to this project" Is there not some way that it could be rectified such as opening a portion of the grounds to the public, such as the museums or other cultural/religious sites, perhaps even as some type of reward or educational experience for university students or otherwise. The same would go for baseball fields and opera houses, perhaps as practice areas for a national sports team, or televised broadcasts or recording of operas, etc.. so that the public can still garner some experience from the expense. Although we must take to mind that the Imperial Administrative Island Zone is fairly off limits to the general public as well, but the expense is seen as reasonble due to fullfilling vital secure state roles. As of yet we will be unable to make the trip personally; however Ceasar Shexhen of the Dian Oeust Region and a number of aides will be available to be there with you on the initial opening of the grounds, to bring gifts of state, and celebrate the occassion. If at all posible perhaps we can visit personally at a less intesive occasion, privately"

I wouldn't object against your palace if you let homeless people stay there once in a while in one of your rooms. We sadly cannot do this due to the fact that the homeless themselves are given housing in the apartments across so in essence there are to few really homeless persons to actually spend money on and bring them to the palace.

Upon ariving near to the new Scandinvan palace, via air, the Ceasar and entourage prepared to meet with the host party, staff of the palace etc.. entourage state department officials, chancery or what have you. With them they brought baggage of gifts of state for the occasion. A crate from the Imperial wine sellar, in a environmentally controlled cartage, as well as a second environmentally sealed box which contained some donations to the Scandinvan library, a very old and full Dian Latin encyclopedia called the Scion Syntopicon , and a copy of the Imperial Codex from the first Dian empire which transisted to the first republic hundreds of years ago. Also were a small statuette of a mounted panthera knight with a moxtra vexallia, that was just a round gold sun dangling. The vexellia was held on the lance of the panthera knight. The largest cargo was actually a very large fine persian styled rug about 12' by 12'. The ceasar was interested in actually taking in the grounds, and getting a wiff of that fresh palace smell.

Any future construction could wait, and really was a secondary issue, other than of course some merit of defence capacities of a very important ally. It was best to keep the construction plans a large part a state secret. ICCD in it's own infrastructure planning took many intersting measures, but then again ICCD was a largely underground infrastructure society, unlike many other 'almost entirely surface dwelliing societies.

It was a nice sentiment that the public could still acheive some interaction with what was to be a great marvel, plus ICCD dreaded the idea of any type of overthrow of the scandinvan royalty due to popular revolt, due to strong economic ties, and oddly emotional sentiment for the Scandinvans. True the public was being shafted, but it could be a lot worse. It was a dreadful thought to think that the huge, visible from the air, structure that was just witnessed could ever be in a position to be destroyed, it was just momumental. Hopefully the gifts would be well received, and this mini vacation by the Ceasar would be reviving.

IC: At the airport where the people arrived there was a large group of Imperial guardsmen who approached the landed plane’s ramp and formed two lines from the base of the airplane. Two planes descended upon the royal palace, one behind the other. The first plane, the smaller of the two, was a deep blue in color. It was bigger than the typical private jet, but still small enough to seem sleek and fast. Following behind it was a massive beast of an aircraft, a kind of transport plane known in Cotenshire as a ‘magnafreighter’. It was completely white.

As the smaller jet touched down on the runway, it emitted several brightly colored clouds of gas, first red, then a light blue, then a darker blue, then a purple. When it slowed to a stop, a stairway lowered down from below the door. The door swung open, revealing a curtain. From under this curtain appeared a gentleman in a suit and bright red velvet vest. He began the introduction.

“To all the lords and commoners, burghers and peasants, clergy, men of Christ, infidels and heathens, this be a most glorious, marvelous, and consummate day, for you shall presently descry the most potent, most serene, most Christian, most splendid, most righteous king to ever grace this God-given Earth, that being His Majesty, King William Salisbury V, patriarch and potentate of the House Salisbury, by the grace of God King of Cotenshire, Lotharnshire, and Ajaelland, defender of the faith, Duke of Upper Lotharingia, Nieuw Vlaanderen, Fejeszekja, and Gothtenbury, Marquess of Frankenshire, Nikolitzanburgh, Hautavano, and Normagne, Earl of Wolvershaw, Margrave of Bonusiklos, Oranje, Bacsalmas, Zagovo, Hatshamolk, Jadwiga, and Ysbrechterdam, Count of Franconton, Songailangrad, Svitrigailangrad, and Toledo, Sheik of al-Hassat, and Emir of Jawfina.”

After finishing his declaration, the crier retreated back into the plane. Soon after emerged two men bearing the royal colors and standards through the curtains. As they made their way down the steps, the curtain was pulled back and His Majesty came out.

William V always wore one of his favorite garbs to diplomatic or international events, and they often contained some sort of theme. This occasion was no different. His majesty was wearing a white suit, on top of which was a deep blue vest. Over all of this was long coat, out of which protruded over fifty million butterfly wings that had been stitched. Naturally, these wings came from the many butterflies grown in the Royal Butterflieries. They were arrayed by color on the coat to produce intricate swirling designs.

His tiara also fit with the butterfly motif. It was made of purple velvet with golden beads, but its most prominent feature was a pair of wings from the gargantuan Kominos Butterfly, a species of butterfly that has been domesticated and bred for hundreds of years to produce a species with the largest wings possible. Although incapable of flight, the Kominos Butterfly had a wingspan of over four feet and the colors of those wings included bright purples, reds, and blues. The wings were fit in such a way that they were perfectly smooth and stuck out from the tiara as if a giant butterfly were resting upon the King’s head.

Other than these pieces of ornamentation, the King also had his hands and arms covered in jewelry, rings, and bracelets to an extent that one could barely see the skin underneath. The cane that the King had chosen to bring to this event was a golden one, with butterflies carved from gemstones perched all around the shaft.

Behind the king followed his immediate family. The Queen wore her light blue dress. The two sons, Peter and Leopold, were clad in the traditional uniform of a Cotenshirish Army officer, which consisted of a blue coat, silver epaulets, long, black boots, a plumed shako, and a sheathed saber on the belt.

The visiting party did not end there, however, as the King had brought his retinues, and also visiting were a few of the King’s vassals and courtiers, and they in turn had brought their retinues.

After the Royal Family came a group of men under Lord Hardeknut. This group consisted mainly of guards, servants, and officers. One servant in particular carried a long staff with a crossbar on the top, and on this crossbar was perched a parrot (“Steady” said the parrot worrying as the man began down the steps). Afterwards came Lord Robert’s contingent, with many servants carrying a keg of wine. Finally came Sir Vasilii, who had the smallest entourage.

After everyone had exited, the plane’s doors were sealed.

OOC: The administration of ICCD views your country as slightly closer than neutral - they see the trade situation with the consortium as an important and heavily invested trade venture. ICCD has not heard of any atrocities or mistreatment, so views the government favourably. Although ICCD's own tax system works from the bottom up (local areas/parliament then the various other administrative levels get to spend money first anything left over goes to the next level up for spending, while htere is a exchequer court of pleas for requests from funds from the upper layer for lower areas that request funds from the common pool. ICCD was a little upset when scandinvan backed down to popular pressure on continuing with the prospective magmatec or indusrial cooperation programs, due to religious extremism. The Scandinvan monarchy is viewed favourably how the relationship has not been perfect it has been fairly good with no severe complication, and thus is considered an allied political social network, for instance the emperor would not hestitate to give the monarchy royal standing as an ICCD kingdom, which as weird as it sound is a compliment of sorts.

IC:

The entourage mostly dressed in white togas, with ceremonial sashes denoting their rank and some other jewlery. Underneath of course was thin body armour for small arms. Normally they would all be in body armour for any trip outside a secure area, but the area was considered generally secure.

"Thank you for your hospitality, we bring gifts of state for the Scandinvans on the occassion of the opening of the new Royal Palace. We hope the Scandinvan can find pleasure and meaning." The person speaking was actually not the ceasar but a Prince from East Farland a 60 some man with long greywhite hair, tied into a frapen. Like a pony tail, but one which evolves from a topnot, what may be seen as more of an oreintal style. The prince also has a long silvery thin beard that was groomed into a single front braid around a foot long. All this said in just over the same span of a quick waist and head nod.

"The two cases should only be opened in an environmentally stored room meeting the critera of the conditions supplied on the case, otherwise the contents may become spoiled."

He hands one of the armored men what he was holding in his hand, the Dian Lion with the Panthera Knight and vexillion.

"I would be willing to speak with the individuals transporting the materials to insure they are handled appropriately."

The Ceasar - a 70 some year old man looking in his 50's with a stern olive face Shexzen spoke. " I look forward to seeing this work of architecture, there is much grace in bringing more splendor to the world." He also had long hair but in a ponytail curled into a single backbun held together by gold bands. A white smile lit his face for a breif moment. his sash was not just draping but he actually had a golden cloak with hood and caping, drapery that covered the upper half of his toga. He also wore a thin tiara of sorts made of whitegold with a dime sized yellow diamond mounted in the center. All ceasars had this type of tiara for state occassions.

"I would like to introduce our entourage, sparing full address. I apologize if my simple frankness offends the grandness of full title addresses. Plus we didn't bring any trupeters." He smiles again "Or the drum core"

I am Ceasar Shexzen, I administer a secti0on of the empire under the emperor and am a high profiled member of the Dian Seym. "To my left," pointed at the person that was speaking before him, " is Prince Ardrian of Shazoul West Farland, a mountain principality, known for it's gold rush about 300 years ago. Mining is still the primary interest in the lowlands of the region. To his left is Count Arthen," the man gives a slight bow, " of the Suhana County of Palamos, his family has a long history of public service in palamos, and his bloodline is native to Palamos. Finally to my right," the Ceasar puts his slightly wrinkled right hand on shoulder of the person next to him, " Is Grand Duke Harn-Jia a senior ranking commander of the Lacus Prae area. The Grand duke was the exception to the toga dress. He was armoured in ceremonial armour made of modern composite, including a helmet. He was also adorned with a number of dress awards. He also had a ceremonial sword at his side. A breif nod followed from the Grandduke. Any closer look at the armour would have reveiled it to be an alloy plate with a bronze and gold frontal emblem of a dexter lion holding a lance, waste deep in water.

"In addition the four men there were two aged women, oh the Ceasar said, and this is the Counts wife, Countess Zaila, and My wife Ceasaress Sherica."
They then of course made their way to the awaiting limo.

A large jumbo jet with the Royal Crest of Kinovoch on it's tail descend upon the Royal Palace. It was flanked by two smaller faster jets, as the Jumbo Jet touchdown and came to a stop, men dress in black suit with black glasses came out of the smaller jets. The men rushed to fix the red carpet for the Emperor.

The Emperor dress in military uniform with a feather hat, carrying a sable to his side stood in the door of the jet and smile. He waved and said:
"To all the lords and commoners, burghers and peasants indeed this is most glorious day as the Empire of Kayiskitan comes to cement their friendship and relations with our Scandinavian brothers and sisters. This Royal trip opens new chapter between our Empires one of cooperation, growth, understanding and development. And one that will surely be one of greatest periods of history for both of our Civilization. And His Majesty,Emperor Olaf IV will lead his people into greatness and into the pages of History and the Empire of Kayikistan supports that. Mark this day forward as new page for Empire of Scandinavia and Kayikistan."

He walked down the stairs into the palace, then his wife Queen Karina Kinovoch IV of Kayikistan followed him, follow by Prince Nikita Kinovoch XXXV heir of the throne, Princess Svetlana Kinovoch III, Prince Josef KinovochXXI, Princess Katrina Kinovoch XI.

To the planes came to two regiments of the Imperial Guard who were dressed in their silver armor, high gold helms, and tall pikes made of the finest of materials. Their figures shown in the midday sun as they approached they formed up on both sides of the walkway. From the center came the Steward of the Emperor dressed in solid gold armor and bearing the scepter of the Steward. Come forward he lowered his head and said,” Welcome your majesty to the lands of the Scandinvans and to the recently completed Imperial palace. We offer you our warm welcome and great you with open arms.

We have arranged for you to have your two palaces for your use while you stay here and we have arranged the proper transportation fir you to your chambers. Though if your majesty does wish it you will be taken to the throne where the Emperor and Empress currently are as they are preparing for the celebration.”

With a signal ten limos emerged to take them to main palace and the servants attended to the rest.

ICCD-Intracircumcordei;12232395']OOC: The administration of ICCD views your country as slightly closer than neutral - they see the trade situation with the consortium as an important and heavily invested trade venture.

With that the man said,” Alright, then please let us bring you to palace and we shall handle the materials as specified. We shall also arrange the transportation to everything else to places fighting for them.”

With that the guards dispersed and the transports were loaded up, the instructions noted for each product, and then proceeded to the main grounds where they were quickly taken to their palace where they would stay. Meanwhile, one the servants at the palace waited near the palace entrance for any requests from the guests there.

“It’s truly gorgeous,” said William V, taking in the palace. “Your masons and builders did a remarkable piece of construction that God himself would envy.”

When prompted as to whether he would like to proceed to his temporary palace or visit the Emperor, the King abruptly answered, “We would like to speak with the Emperor. Is not that right?” he asked, turning back to his entourage. They agreed. “Very well, then, Sir Steward, have us taken to your great Emperor.”

He walked down the stairs into the palace, then his wife Queen Karina Kinovoch IV of Kayikistan followed him, follow by Prince Nikita Kinovoch XXXV heir of the throne, Princess Svetlana Kinovoch III, Prince Josef KinovochXXI, Princess Katrina Kinovoch XI.Twenty guards descended from the main palace steps. Then, while still in formation, they bowed their heads in unison, then the leader of that sector’s palace guard, as designated by his gold armor came up and said,” Emperor of Kayikistan, the Emperor thanks you for coming and would like for us to escort you to your palace and your belongings shall be brought there and set up before we arrive by the palace servants in a timely minor.

Yet, before we do this he requests that you come to the throne room to meet him, so with your consent we shall go now through the main palace complex to go to its heart of the throne room.”

OOC: Note, this meeting shall, for now, bring you in contact with the other guests.

In comparison creation is far grander and more beautiful then anything that man could make with our hands. But, I thank you for the compliment and for lending us the one who designed all of this.

As for now we are at the main entrance to the throne room. Here we get out and it is only a few minute walk.”

Getting out of the car and ordering a servants to hold open the doors for the guests he said,” Please follow to the throne room.”

The King was glad to find that the Emperor’s steward was a learned theologian. While theology is the greatest of the sciences, such matters are normally ignored by royal stewards. I am glad this steward has a good sense of direction.

During the ride, he asked his son, “Peter, you study in depth these kinds of things. Do you not think that our guards should also be armed with pikes?”

“Father, it has been proven many times that halberds or similar pole arms are the most effective weapon for the usual situations that guards engage.”

“Well, can we not at least have some pike bearing guards and some halberd bearing ones?”

“What will become of it will be how much we value our prestige against how much we value our safety. I know you fancy pikes because they are weapons of the noble man at arms, but the situations faced by a lowly guard are far different from those in tournaments.”

“Very well, but I want a study done on this once we get back.”

After getting out of the car, the Cotenshirish Party followed the servants to meet the Emperor. William V was measuring everything he had seen about the palace. So far he was impressed with Gaviscilio. It was by far the greatest foreign palace he had ever seen.

The doors of the throne room were opened by two guards dressed in solid platinum. With that the tall columns of the throne room shone like silver due to being made of solid alabaster witch towered stories high each. Throughout the sides of it were those of the personal guard of the Emperor dressed in nothing save gold chain mail as their skills were so great they needed nothing more then for protection.

Then the Emperor said from his high gold throne in a powerful and profound voice,” Welcome, ye king of Cotenshire and his company I bid you welcome here.”

The Cotenshirish Party filed into the throne room following their King, with the most noble proceeding the servants and those in the lower echelons. As they gathered around the Emperor’s throne, all except the King and Queen bowed. This was especially difficult for the two men hauling around the keg of wine, who had been ordered not to let the keg touch the ground.

“It is a pleasure to meet you, Lord Emperor Olaf the Fourth,” began the King. The King then began the introductions. “I am William Salisbury V, King of my Dominion and patriarch and potentate of the House Salisbury. Here is the Queen, my beautiful, God-fearing wife.” The Queen curtsied. “These here are the two Princes of Cotenshire, Peter and Leopold, who are my sons.” (“Thank you for hosting this spectacular event,” said Peter as the two of them bowed.)

William V continued. “This here is the honourable Lord Hardeknut of Chatrier,” said the King, motioning towards the parrot (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/5/5e/Buberel_Gray_parrot.jpg/399px-Buberel_Gray_parrot.jpg).

“Excellent to meet Your Majesty. Want a nut.” proclaimed the parrot in its dry, high-pitched voice. An attendant, standing behind the servant holding the staff on which the parrot perched, opened a silk bag and procured a nut, which he fed to the parrot.

A shady, emaciated man in a black livery stepped forward. “This is Sir Vasilii Grunovich, the Royal Spy Master and Custodian of the Royal Apothecaries.” Sir Grunovich bowed his head slightly and made a grunting noise.

“This noble man is the honourable Lord Robert Pencosle of Conately,” said the King, motioning towards the other man stepping forward. He was dressed in a royal tunic and looked considerably more well kept than Sir Grunovich.

“It is an honour to meet you, Lord Emperor of the Scandinvans,” stated Lord Pencosle, getting to his knees.

Motioning for Lord Pencosle to get up and move back, the King moved on to a different topic. “We have brought with us a larger aeroplane that contains many of the most treasured possessions of the House Salisbury. Among these are priceless furniture made of the finest woods, mounds of golden and silver jewelry, preserved relics from the time of Christ, and ancient documents and tomes containing the knowledge of the Greeks and Infidels. The vessel and all of its contents are given to you.”

While the King was speaking there was some commotion among his entourage. Leopold wanted a new coat and was given one by one of the Royal Coat Carriers. Lord Pencosle was parched and had himself a glass of wine poured from the keg.

The Emperor descended from the throne properly and then took his wife’s hand in his and descended down the many jeweled marble stairs to the floor of the throne there he said,” Welcome to you as well my most worthy and honored guests to my new palace designed by your own royal architect who you generously lent to me.

I myself am Emperor Olaf the IV, Emperor of the Scandinvans, Grand Master of the Knights of St. Louis, Master of all Valgard, High King of the Nine Kingdoms, and Supreme Lord of the Valgardians bid you welcome to my lands.”

Making a motion with his hand he presented his wife and said,” This my wife Empress Eyfura of the high Valgardian Imperial branch house Erida whom have given her the great beauty of our ancestors that runs strongly in her veins.

As well, I present to you Sword of Saint Constantine, the Staff of Saint Gregory the Great, the Jewel of the Northern Ice, a lock of hair of the Virgin Mary, a piece of the true Cross, the golden scepter of the Sunken Eastern Islands, and many other time honored items and relics important to my lineage and to that of my people.”

(OOC: That's alright.)

The King was rather impressed by the amount of titles that Olaf had. It seemed, in these backward days, that a King was commonly measured by the titles he did not have, rather than those that he did.

“Thank you, Emperor. It pleases all among us that we have had the privilege to travel here. And I wish to thank you in the utmost for these gifts, which shall, God willing, stay with us for thousands of years.”

Behind the King, Peter walked over to Sir Grunovich. He asked, in a hushed tone, “Spymaster, those relics that we gave to the Emperor, you stole those from some abbeys, did you not?”

“Indeed I did,” answered Grunovich without turning to face Peter. “Why you ask?”

“Well it just seems odd to me that, not only did we posses in our land a piece of the Cross, but also several strands of Mary’s hair, and that they also have parts of the same treasures here in this land.”

Leopold had walked over to the two. He remarked, “These days, considering all the treasures possessed by the great abbeys, one would think that Christ’s Crucifix was a mile tall and that Mary was that German wench Rapunzel.”

Peter was quick to anger. “Brother, you shall utter no more blasphemies here or I shall slay you where you stand.” He made sure that he was groping the handle of his sabre as he said the last part.

“Calm down, it was but a jest.”

The Emperor laughed at the little jest and then said,” My ancestors retrieved the true cross during the ancient invasion of the Holy Land in our conquest of those lands did we find on Golgotha the bottom on an ancient cross imbedded in the soil and upon it five white strands of hair, in the shape of the cross, that refused to move until my ancestor picked them up, along with the imbedded cross which refused to move. Yet as the hair remained perfectly steady the cross fell on the ground into three pieces while the one remained in the hand of my predecessor Yet, even while this happened one of the pieces fell down the long hill for my hundreds of feet till the piece led us to the true cross.

So though we can never be certain we can only assume that at the last these bore witness to a truly unnatural event. So that is where we get those two artifacts.

Yet, on another note we preserve all the artifacts of Christ and those closest to him before we can truly begin to understand biblical history well.”

“I fully agree,” said William V. “Biblical history is important to understand to the fullest. The more it is studied, the better we have an impetus in following the teachings of Christ. Royal Theologian, what say you on this matter?” A thin, pale man stepped forward, but before he could speak, the King declared “This, Lord Emperor, is Lord Roger Benpolt, the Royal Theologian. And since theology truly is the master of the sciences, I proclaimed him Master of the Royal Sciences as well.”

Roger Benpolt cleared his voice. “My liege, what is it exactly that you want me to expound on?”

The King answered, with a slight hint of anger, “Tell us what the Royal Theology, as compounded by the generations of the House Salisbury, which includes my own input, says about studying the past, particularly Biblical times.”

“Errm…Your Majesty, there is nothing in the entirety of the Royal Theology on studying Biblical times.”

The King lifted up his scepter, as if he was about to hit the man. “In the entire universe of knowledge compounded by my family, there must be something on the subject!” He lowered his voice to a more calm tone. “Now tell us or I will release you from your position.”

“Very well,” answered Benpolt. Putting down the large bag that he carried, he procured from it a massive tome which had filled the entire sack. On the massive spine of the volume was printed “Royal Theology as Dictated by the Salisburies in their Infinitesimal Wisdom.”

Benpolt opened the book to a blank page, took out a pen, and began writing furiously. After he was finished, he proclaimed “As written on page six thousand, two hundred, and ninety three, the Royal Theology states, and I quoteth: ‘Biblical history is important to understand to the fullest. The more it is studied, the better we have an impetus in following the teachings of Christ.’”

There were murmurs of agreement among the Cotenshirish guests. One servant proclaimed “Aahh, that makes sense.” The astute observer might gather from this that the King was used to having his way.

“See,” remarked the King, “I told you that you would find something on the matter if you looked hard enough.”

The Emperor said in Old Latin in result to the King’s Statement,” Yet, to truly understand Christ we must first understand the other sciences as without full knowledge of those we cannot begin to even begin to have the ability to translate the message of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. As well, we must be willing to be willing to read the readings of all on the subject of him so that we might test our faith and then truly then can we know the true extent our of faith in Christ.”

Then the Emperor continued in Aramaic,” As for all things we must remember though that the history and the works relating to the life of Jesus is truly the thing that is most important thing in the grand scheme of things is devotion to Christ and to the preservation of the knowledge we have of him and of that of his disciples from his time.”

Stopping ht Empress came forward and said in Greek,” Yet, for all of our knowledge of Jesus we cannot truly hope to attain the nearly same grace that his disciples had to be with and help him spread Christianity to the unbelievers of the time and to convert them to his teaching.”
