History

Exodus: When Phillip the Second and Alexander the Great started conquering the Greek world, scores of Greeks fled in an exodus to Vantania, settling it and plauging it with Alternative Greek culture, a variant of Classical Greekt culture. Then, many years later, days after the fall of Britannia, Roman refugees made a exodus there as well, conquering areas and creating Alternative Greco-Roman culture.

British Protectorate: This peace lasted many years, but was however soon shattered however, as the British soon found Vantania, and marvelling at the Greco-Roman culture, made it a protectorate. This started a massive overhaul in Vantanian technology, culture, and economics.

First Colonial Empire: In the 1800s, Vantania ended British rule, starting the first colonial empire. Several companies, East India Company, West India Company, and Hudson Bay Company were formed. Vantanian power in West India was the best, threatening other powers. However Hudson Bay and East India were failures. The Belcher Isles managed a small fur trade, and some isles in the East Indies traded silk and tea. Though the land remained, the ability to take land was lost. Even later, the Africa Company was plagued with British invasion, reducing Vantanian Africa to a small territory containing Cape Town's only rival, Naucratis.

Second Colonial Empire: Then, after two centuries of development, Vantania reemerged on the international stage. They set about building a second colonial empire, and make an ally of British Londinium. This was an unfortunate move however, as British Londinium soon invaded over immense debt, souring relations for a long time. Briefly off stage, a communist revolution overswept Vantania, and the Peoples' Republic was formed, decolonising and destroying the second colonial empire.

The First Great Rebellion: However, this was not going to be tolerated. A rebellion soon embroiled the Peoples' Republic, destroying it entirely and devastating the land. Victorious, the rebels huddled in the few untouched lands working hard, naming the country New Vantania to distinguish from the communists.

Third Colonial Empire Formed: Not long after a British Londinian led coalition was made against the Hegemony. New Vantania joined, getting a new colony out of the war. Feeling on a roll, New Vantania sent a colonization force to an isle near Haven, securing oil and coal. Hawthorne was assassinated shortly after the start of the Great Ghol-Havenic War. Soon afterwards, the EVIL alliance bloc formed, which New Vantania joined. This lead to a surge in New Vantanian power as it joined other imperial powers. Not long after, the Freeks dismantled the EVIL alliance bloc, resulting in a hit to New Vantanian prowess.

The Second Great Rebellion: After a series of incompetent actions by Prazsac Ironclad, Erika Redmark led a vicious rebellion in the northern lands, a liberal rebellion seizing the colonies and soon the whole empire. Prazsac Ironclad the First was assassinated due to crimes and the Democratic Empire was formed. To once again distinguish from their former rulers, they were dubbed Great Vantania. Some colonies were also granted sovereignty, forming the Vantanian Commonwealth.

The Greater Empire: To thank Vetalia for their extensive assistance in the Second Great Rebellion, Erika married their Emperor. As such, the Treaty of Vetalia City was created, bonding the two nations together very closely. Soon, Lord Sumguy initiated an attack on one of Vetalia's trade ships, destroying it and seizing the cargo. Enraged, Vetalia blockaded Lord Sumguy with Vantanian assistance.
