I post this here since Jolt won't let me access the NS forums this moment. Anyhow, Jocabia is proposing civilized debate threads on real-life issues being allowed in the NS and II forums.

Personally, I find this disgusting. There is enough of that bickering trash in General, and civilized or not, most of it is still annoying "Should Bush Be Impeached" or "Why do Gay People...?" garbage.

Do you want your forum of roleplaying turning into General2 with the NS forum General3? Go to the thread in moderation and show your support for roleplaying.

In all honesty, I and a number of other roleplayers would like to see General itself deleted for server bandwidth.

I mean really, the only people who post in that cesspit of the internet, without a single exception, are ignorant preteens who watched "V for Vendetta" and assumed all of the opinions expressed in that wretched film. Either they're bitching about how "BUSHITLER SHULD B IMPEACHED" or "WHY DO GAY PEOPLE HOLD PRIDE RALLIES" or else it's "I SAW A RACEIST, DO YUO THINK RACIESM IS BAD?!1". The resulting five hundred pages of garbage replies to that last topic usually consists of four hundred and ninety-nine responses of "YES" and the one twat who says "NO" because he's either a drooling inbred or trolling.

I shouldn't worry about it, SB. He/she is the only person in favour of it from what I can tell, and even one of the mods has opined against it. Nothing will come of it. Though it is an awesomely strange suggestion for him/her to make... I don't understand the motivation behind it myself.

Agreed. Whole we may rp out events to be as realistically as possible, actually having real life topics in discussions that are obviously 'not' Rps should be kept in the General section, or at least Gameplay.

The Rp forums not only are 'supposed' to be for Rp only, the few threads I have seen that tries stuff like this are either denounced or just ignored outright anyway.

And the idea that someone might think the rps done in here can be considered RL in their own right, even make 'me' chuckle. That's more like ST fans in a convention taking their art too seriously. It's all fandom and rps here, lets not muddle or gray up the lines between imaginary and real topics here.

Now... if someone can Rp out RL stuff effectively, WITHOUT dragging in controversial issues in, all the power to them. However as SOON as such a thread is made, it's Rp and CAN'T be taken as a RL topic anymore. To do so makes it General in topic, and belongs where it belongs.

Doing both at once makes a person act like they're on Valium or something. Rping out in real life away from a computer screen usually makes people around that person less than approachable I believe, so keep the RP as RP, and keep it simple silly.

I would suggest going /b/ on them, but they outnumber us :P

I post on general occasionally, but I like to stick to the non-political threads, although I have been sorely tempted to respond to a particularly stupid post once or twice. Some of the Generalites are nice enough, good people to chat with about how much you both hate StarFroce ;)

In view of the rarity of civil debates in real life, SB, I would think that if anyone did manage to have one, it would have to be classified roleplay -- there wouldn't be any RL parallels.

Anyway, Jocabia seems satisfied enough with Hack's solution.

1) This was resolved hours ago, with mod reaction being from the start that debate is not appropriate to either of the RP forums.

2) This site caters to more than just the roleplayers; those who actually *can* debate well in the General forum would no doubt find some roleplayers' behaviors silly and obsessive -- stones and glass houses?

3) Since when has moderation decisions been via petition?

How ironic that your post mirrors precisely what you say that you despise. And how ironic that people here, with their TWO RP forums, are calling for the deletion of the one non-RP. Is talking about real-life issues really THAT disturbing to you that fantasy needs to take over completely?
