Class Name: Woundwort Class General Purpose Destroyer
Class Type: [DG, Destroyer General] Guided Missile Escort Destroyer

Image:http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k250/IJNYamamoto/Kure/HMSWoundwort-1.png
About: The Woundwort was laid down for increasing IQN concerns over effective perimeter AA defence that was provided by the fleets light escort frigates [FE]. Further concerns were issued because the fleet’s FEs and DEs were made from aluminium, and firstly their systems were outdated. Furthermore, many ship captains lodged complaints with the cramped space of the fleet’s escorts and that this was detrimental to the crew’s combat capacity.

So, concerns were put forward and the IQN Admiralty decided it was time for a new General Purpose Destroyer to replace the old Destroyer Escorts. These would rely more on advanced electronics and automation to replace crew whereever possible, and furthermore armament was cut to increase crew space. The designs were set forth and the Admiralty put forward all their research to Imperial Shipwrighters Ptc, including what had previously been decided as classified.

With this information, IS Ptc was able to incorporate the best of the best of Questarian technology into a new destroyer that could counter submarines with anti submarine missiles from its VL bays, aircraft from its VL bays, and even ships with its SSM launchers. Furthermore it had the most advanced RADAR in the Questarian armoury. It was also constructed with lightweight steel rather than aluminium.

Class Name: Sandleford Anti Aircraft Destroyer
Class Type: [DE, Destroyer Picket Escort] Guided Missile Escort Destroyer

Image:http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k250/IJNYamamoto/Kure/HMSSandleford-1.png
About: The Sandleford is the Imperial Navy's standard anti-aircraft escort. Originally, the IQN used large numbers of general purpose destroyers, and battleships would be mounted specially with anti aircraft, but under the new doctrine an anti air ship was required. With this, the Sandleford was born. With no artillery, it is entirely missile based, a first in the IQN. Boasting 207 tactical surface to air missiles that can intercept aircraft and missiles she is impressive in her duties.

Furthermore, extensive research was done into the Sandleford's new Interception and Detection Suite Mk 81 RADAR, which is accurate, fast, and reliable. It is not mounted on any other Imperial Navy ship and it means that a Sandleford can engage 20 targets simultaenously, and can respond to a missile efficiently; some fast missiles allow only under a minute for reaction time and therefore fast electronics were neccessary and the Sandlefords IDS-81 can launch a SAM at a missile within 11 seconds of its detection.

The Sandleford is fairly fast and constructed out of steel, as are almost all Questarian warships. It has little in the way of anti submarine defence as her VLS are calibrated with the RADAR so that they must all be SAMs; in this way, the Sandleford is almost exclusively an anti air vessel and can't really perform in any other manner, which is fair since it wasn't designed to.

Class Name: Terrence Class Light Cruiser
Class Type: [CE] Cruiser, Escort]

Image:http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k250/IJNYamamoto/Kure/HMSTerrence-1.png
About: The Terrence Class Light Cruiser is the primary Escort Cruiser of the IQN and some say it may be outdated, but it certainly has it uses. The Terrence's main armament conists of three rapid fire triple 155mm cannons. Each cannon can fire at 100 RPM which gives the Terrence an overall output of 900 155mm shells per minute. Furthermore, the Terrence has large ammunition reserves. This means the Terrence can provide air cover for a fleet to specially combat "missile spam."

The Terrence was designed along the lines of traditional cruiser designs, with a pair of funnels and a lower quarter deck. The armour spans the magazine which takes up more space than usual for the large number of ammunition but the magazine is well protected and can be flooded quickly if neccessary. The Terrence is constructed with steel as per usual.

Class Name: Southampton Class Cruiser
Class Type: [CA] Cruiser, Armoured]

Image:http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k250/IJNYamamoto/Kure/HMSSouthampton.png
About: The Southampton Class Heavy Cruiser is the primary heavy cruiser of the Imperial Navy. It was laid down because the Navy wanted a fast cruiser that, in numbers, could gun down lone battleships and or could help in a battle line adding to the firepower of the battleships. The Southampton accomplished this, for what it lacks in missile firepower, it makes up for in excellent gun power.

Her main guns are her shining point. Four turrets, designated A, B, X, and Y, each hold three Mark X 20cm/60 cannons with a maximum engagement range of 42,000 metres. At this range, the Mark X guns can penetrate approximately 325mm of armour if using their armour piercing shells. This means they can give a good fight to any traditional battleship and in numbers swamp and sink nationstates battleships.

The ship is sturdy, owing to its construction and the nature of Questarian shipwrighting, and furthermore the excellent standard of damage control onboard. Of course, this relies on your crews, but in good hands the Southampton can take severe punishment and still give battle to the enemy.

Class Name: Prince of Wales Class
Class Type: Battleship

[b]Image: Link (1.9 pixels to the metre scale) (http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k250/IJNYamamoto/Kure/HMSPrinceofWales.png)

About: The Prince of Wales Class is possibly the best battleship class produced by Questers in its tonnage level. Extremely durable the Prince of Wales can lob firepower great distances and take it too.

When many battleships were being phased out and scrapped, the IQN needed a new standard heavy ship that could take lots of punishment and contend with other battleships. Thus, the Prince of Wales was born. The first thing that was chosen was armament, three turrets of three guns using the same guns as the famous HMS Hood. This meant that while other nations used smaller calibres for ships this size; 21" and 24" for example, the Prince of Wales could a.) give superior firepower b.) fight against supercapitals effectively and also, while other nations used quad guns, the PoW used triples, increasing efficiently drastically. The guns themselves, while having an extremely long theoretical range, have an engagement range of some 5-90km and can be accurately bracketed by the strong RADAR and optics onboard the ship.

The armour belt is constructed internally for extra stability and durability. Large numbers of watertight bulkheads and extensive damage control allow the ship to recover from extreme lists and take tremendous firepower, especially with her thick belt. Another advantage of the Prince of Wales is that, while it had less guns, it had stronger armour that in theory could bounce 24" shells and in practice 21" while absorbing heavy damage from 24". This gives it an extreme advantage over a giant number of other battleships.

The Prince of Wales is one of the strongest battleships available on the export market, usually classified as a "heavy dreadnought" in foreign navies. Any Navy that prides itself on its battleships will not be without one. Furthermore, they gave themselves an excelletn account in the Battle of Paralentum against Doomingsland, where a shell penetrated the armour and hit the magazine of HMS Duke of York. The excellent damage control of the ship and her crew and her sturdiness in combat meant that the Duke of York recovered and rejoined the fight, albeit with one less turret.

Image: Link (4 pixels to the metre scale) (http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k250/IJNYamamoto/Kure/HMSJunyo.png)

About: The Junyo class is the main light (strike) carrier class of the IQN, with many subclasses which all are basically the same. The Junyo, in IQN service, carries an 80% missile attack complement, with a 10% fighter and 10% torpedo bomber complement - however, this is IQN doctrine and the Junyo can accept all kinds of carrier aircraft, though CATOBAR means that aircraft will have to be compatible with arrestor wires.

The Junyo carries its payload in a special section of the ship that can be lifted up to the deck quickly, or lowered quickly, on seperate elavators, with the magazines having 300mm of steel armour in complement to the hangars 250mm. The Junyo is not suitable for a command role in full fleets but it can, to an extent lead squadrons of destroyers and cruisers in surface domination missions where battleships aren't available. The long striking range of Junyo's complement means that she can either supplement attacks, or independently strike, at targets long distances away.

Class Name: Fedayeen / Battleaxe [IQN] Class Battlecruiser
Class Type: Battlecruiser

[b]Image: Link (no particular scale) (http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k250/IJNYamamoto/Kure/Fedayeen-Class.png)

About: The Fedayeen / Battleaxe Class Battlecruiser is a long range battlecruiser designed for raiding. Originally, the Khailfah Al Muslimeen, a good friend of Questers and oil-trading partner requested to the Questarian Government; which was passed down to the Naval Design Office, a design for a battlecruiser specialising in raiding missions. The request was accepted and the NDO went to work immediately. Afterwards, the Navy put forth a bill to Parliament asking for a number of these battlecruisers, which was of course passed.

The first thing was provisions – as opposed to one giant provisions store, there are four around the ship which are fully NBC protected and even armoured, so that there are enough provisions for 10 months at sea. Obviously nuclear propulsion was chosen, so both of these gave the Fedayeen incredible range at sea.

The ship needed to be able to defend itself, considering it may be operating without escorts for some time. Therefore, it was given large surface to air missile batteries, and extensive linkups to GPS and jamming systems for enemy RADAR. Furthermore, it needed heavy firepower in case the guns ran out of ammunition; for this purpose, a large number of VL missiles were included, SAM and SSM alike.

Protectionwise, obviously as it is a battlecruiser the armour is thinner than it would be on a abttleship, but this is complemented by the excellent standard of construction and damage control and various measures put in place to stop torpedos etc.

We wish to purchase one Fedayeen / Battleaxe [IQN] Class Battlecruiser, for a price of $28,000,000,000. Should our current state of conflict with Carbandia mean that you are not, at this time, willing to sell to us, we would like to request whether it would be possible to put in an advance order for the day that we are no longer at war with Carbandia.

Re: Naval Acquirement

The Republic of Zaire wishes to place an order for the following purchase:

Prince of Wales Class Battleship x1 ($70 billion)

As a poor country, our funds are not nearly sufficient to cover this purchase. However, we were wondering if we could pay it off in yearly increments, or grant John Brown & Company concessions to some of Zaire's mineral riches, instead. Please let us know if this is acceptable. If so, the first payment will be wired to you at once.

We would be glad to sell the vessels to Kolkovia, evne if they are at war with one of our allies, Carbandia. John Brown and Co has no investment from the Government whatsoever, so they have very little say in who we sell to.

In that case, due to the fact that we currently lack a coast, we would also like to inquire into the possibility of purchasing a plane or planes designed to refuel/resupply aircraft at sea.
