The beginning of the Republic's last period of general isolation away from the international community has finally ended with the election of a new Aequatian head of state, President Holden Reid, who has taken to his duties quickly with the draft and release of the Reid Doctrine, which states:

That the Aequatian Republic, as one of the largest members of the international community, is held in a position where it must act as its police force in order to maintain regional stability in the concepts of national sovereignty and peace, even if it must undertake such actions in a unilateral manner.

In addition to the new direction in which the nation is taking diplomatically, an increase in defence spending has also been authorized by the National Senate in order to uphold the doctrine, which includes the strengthening of the Aequatian Republic Navy, which is the most important factor in the nation's power projection.

The People's Socialist Republic of Russkya applauds the end of Aequatian isolationism and welcomes the potential of increased Aequatian involvement in joint Russkyan-Aequatian operations in the nation of Estonavia.

Although there is some concern over potential interventionism on the part of the Aequatian Republic, these fears are allayed by knowledge of the Republic's past actions under the presidency of Doctor Kurt Moltke, and the belief that similarly wise statesmanship will be displayed by Holden Reid.

Official Response.

"While the concerns over interventionalist issues expressed by the People's Socialist Republic of Russkya would be a top priority with nation's not familiar with the Aequatian Republic, I would like to assure the international community that while our nation's power is vast, as is our responsibility to use that power correctly and not abuse our position.

We will be acting in the defence of national sovereignty, protecting those who are unable or unwilling to protect themselves from aggressors who would prey on them."

The People's Socialist Republic applauds Aequatio's stance and trusts that they will perform no ignoble actions. The Russkyan Politburo extends a hand of friendship and greeting to the new Aequatian President.
