Naasha

OOC: After an extended break over Christmas I've finally got around to NS again, yay! I'll be drawing up a proper factbook and placing some hefty military equipment orders over the weekend.
Two years on from the Naashan Civil War.
The cheering of the crowds in City Square hadn't abated for about an hour now, even the eldest of the citizenry had found voice for this monumentous occasion, the moment that Naasha became a sovereign state again. Even the usually solemn Gregor Radinar of the UNNS managed a small grin, despite the fact that it was his former party that was stepping down.
A busy two years it had been for the UNNS, quashing the remnants of Imperial resistance within the country, restoring democracy to Surdun, Naasha's now semi-autonomous southern neighbour and of course, rebuilding the shattered cities and finding homes for a growing population.
But despite all their good work, the UNNS had to step down eventually, the people wanted democracy, and even their saviours had to bend to their wishes eventually. It had come as a shock to many that the UNNS as a whole chose not to compete in the national elections for a sucessor government, although Radinar himself had been offered the position of Home Secretary in the increasingly popular Democrat party if they won the elections, which, naturally, they went on to do.
On the podium below him, the newly elected Prime Minister, Darren Renner, was doggedly continuing with his acceptance speech, despite the fact that most of the crowd was no longer listening. The man wasn't as charismatic as Thomas Lenrov, the former UNNS leader, but that almost added to the Democrat's case, their man had won on his leadership skills and his party's foundation.
Of course, the day wasn't all good news, the UNNS withdrawal, and proposed disarmament was going to leave the country in need of severe military reforms, and their failure to collect any taxes whatsoever during the two year UNNS rule meant that a serious tax hike was going to have to be introduced to pay for it all, international aid and the like had all but dried up now.
Radinar spotted a few Ezaltian flags held aloft in the sea of bodies, even a solitary Dentaran one, it had been those two nations who had made the biggest difference in the end, turning the tables on the Imperialist oppressors during the Naashan Civil War. Those nations, along with Naasha's other Nova Europan neighbours held a great deal of popularity with the people at the moment, and it was just that their part was celebrated alongside that of the UNNS.
Even as the celebrations began to draw to a close, Radinar's attention was distracted again, this time by the growl of motors in the distance. He grimaced, even this joyous day was clouded, the war in Kroando to the north had prompted Renner to order the remainder of the 1st Air Defence Battalion to deploy to the west coast. Such thinking seemed foolish to Radinar, Naasha was not in a position to intervene, and a mobilisation was simply going to stir up Dartia and the Sovereign League.
