The formation of United Caucasusian Republics began in the early 1980s. At that time, the Caucasus was splintered between three nations, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Armenia. Azerbaijan and Armenia were not friendly to each other, having fought wars against each other. Georgia on the other hand was content to be where it was. That was until 1982. In that year a politician would begin what would become known as one of the greatest political waltzes in history. His name was Andrei Johnson, and he had a wicked ideal. He wanted to unite the splintered countries of the Caucasus under one banner. It would bring peace, wealth, and defense to the nations. There were many major roadblocks in his way, and the first one was his home Country of Georgia. He began to campaign for what he called "The Unification" in late 1982.
At first his ideas weren't well received. Most called him a crack-pot or idiot, and most felt his idea would never see fruition. It looked that way as 83 turned in 84. Although, unknown to him, politicians in the other two countries picked up on this idea and began to spread his idea. It was received roughly the same in the other countries as it was in Georgia. But as the years ticked by and 86 turned in 87, his ideas were receiving some hardy thought around all three of the nations. It was then that he started the OUC, The Organization for the Unification of the Caucasus, with it's headquarters in Tiblisi. Yerevan and Baku also received national headquarters. They all formed a single party from which they ran for government posistions. This party was called the Unity Now Party or The UNP. From 87 to 88 the party saw a large upswing in popularity, especially within the small Middle Class.
