To: Fleet Admiral Hafiz Hani Firdaus, Head of Fleet Operation for the Indian Ocean
From: Fleet Admiral Mehmood Yushua Saburo, Overall Head Officer of the Indian Ocean Wargames
Topic: War Games

High Seas Fleet Command has given the go ahead for the war games to start in two weeks time. It has taken us six months to move all our units into place. All units under normally under your command will as of now be transfer to my command as of now. Let us hope that our friends in Oceania don’t do anything rash..

Two weeks later

Location Indian Ocean, between Muscat, KLM Arabia and Bombay, KLM India

For the past six months, the Imperial High Seas Fleet was building slowly be steadily building up its assets in the area for the coming war games. A great number of ships were move from Mediterranean and Black Sea Fleet Commands, to join up the Indian Ocean Fleet Command for the massive war games, plus the Dominions naval command send at least one task group of their own to take part in the war games to represent themselves in the grand war games. Yet number of task groups were not going to take part in the war games, due to the need to keep a number of task groups spread out in order to keep the fleet running in case of attack on the war game fleet group.

Phase one -The Sub hunt

The first phase of the war games, was a massive submarine hunt, the fleet will be divided two groups, one the surface fleet and support units vs. submarine fleet. The primary goal of this phase to test, new and old anti sub warfare tactics. Another objective of the mission was to test the weakness within the newly upgraded KLM sonar networks, which were all base in KLM territorial waters and not international waters. In order to allow the High Seas Fleet to improve those weakness and make it harder for Oceanian subs from entering the territorial waters of the Imperium.

Phase two- Mock naval battles

The Fleet will break in two group, and attack it each other and on board computers will simulate the damaged taken for each ship from attacks runs by either side. The primarily objective of this phase to test new naval tactics and also test the skill of the Imperial Officers and their crews in combat situations.

Phase three- live fire exercise

The Fleet will conduct live fire exercises and sink a number of decommission warships and merchant to test out new weapon systems and to see if they’re any bugs within the systems or weapons themselves.

After the live fire exercises were finished, the war games will be over with and roughly two-thirds of the fleet will return to their homeports. The other part of the fleet will begin a good will tour of the Indian and Pacific, they will stop over at friendly ports and display the might of the Imperial Seas Fleet Super dreadnought fleet, and all 14 super capitals ship were partaking in the tour. They were protecting a sizeable number of escorts.

On board AMSS Rāshidūn

Fleet Admiral Mehmood Yushua Saburo, stood on the bridge of Rāshidūn all his officers stood attention. The Fleet Admiral took a moment to look around; he looked at displays screens, which showed latest positions of the ships of the fleet. It was quite a sight hundreds upon hundreds of ships were in formation, it was one of the largest gatherings of High Seas Fleet and the first all the super capital ships were in one place, it was a great sight for those who were to witness it.

The Fleet Admiral said “ Today, we end our silence….today , we make the world notice that our Imperium is truly a naval power to be reckon with ..let the games begin.” Said the Fleet Admiral and with that, phase one of the war games was in progess…

HMS Inviolable

Peter Wakefield paced about his command centre, throwing furtive glances at the display table laid out so neatly in the centre of the room. On it, the bulk of the Imperial High Seas Fleet of the Khailfah, the closest state which the United Kingdom could aptly describe as a threat to the peace and stability of the Empire. For several months, the Royal Navy had been aware of the intentions of Istanbul to stage a massive war game off the western coast of India off Bombay. With great care and secrecy, submarines and satellite reconnaissance had detailed the provisioning, arming, and ultimately departure of the Imperial Fleet’s capital ships. Inestimable intelligence had been gathered—but more was to gain from actual observers of the games; however unwanted they may be.

And as it was, Wakefield had set sail from HMNB Avinapolis with two battlecruisers, his flagship Inviolable and Restless, an older ship soon set to be decommissioned and scrapped ahead of what many in the United Kingdom’s battlecruiser squadrons saw to be the new R-class. Of slightly more importance in the non-combat mission, however, were the seven destroyers and eight frigates that had been attached to his force. He originally had eight destroyers—but unfortunately one of his older destroyers lost a propeller en route and it had returned to Avinapolis for repairs.

Wakefield’s battlecruisers were some 600 kilometres distant from the screening forces of the KLM High Seas Fleet, the activities of which were being continuously monitored by his fleet of reconnaissance drones as well as satellite coverage. But perhaps most tellingly, his own screen of frigates that were almost at the edge of the High Seas Fleet’s outer pickets. It was these frigates that would collect invaluable information on signals and communication procedures, frequencies, protocols, and hardware as they mingled with the KLM fleet. Risky perhaps, but the intelligence was potentially very important to the security of the Royal Navy.

On board Admiral Flagship

Phase one of the war games was in progress, the fleet was hunting down sub fleet, and they were busy conducting ASW dills and maneuvers to catch their opponents of the sub fleet.

Fleet Admiral Saburo was busy reviewing the latest tactical reports from his fleet commanders on the latest looses and kills for the Surface fleet, so far the sub fleet has the upper hand in terms of kill ratios, yet the tide was slowly during in the favor of the surface fleet, they manger take out a number of SSN, SSGNand SSBNs so far, apparently the new tactics were working and the sonar networks were proving their worth. Phase one was will be over soon and the war games will be moving into phase two.

Then the Fleet Admiral Aid, Commander El Sid enter the Fleet Admiral office

“Fleet Admiral Saburo, here are the latest tactical reports as you requested sir!” and the Commander hand over the reports to Fleet Admiral

“Also sir, our sonar and radar have picked up a number of Oceanian warships near by our fleet, they are roughly 600 kilometers from us, sir!”

The Fleet Admiral look up and said “ Give me hourly reports on their positions, if they come closer to our fleet, I want to be inform right way…send out some recon drones to keep an eye on them..inform all Fleet Commanders to act accordingly and continue the war games as planned.”

“By your command, sir!” replied the Commander who quickly set out to carry the Fleet Admiral orders

Fleet Admiral Saburo, stood on the bridge of his flagship, the fleet was breaking into two formations for Phase Two the Mock Naval Battles. Phase one, went without a incident and the results of Phase One will help the Imperial Fleet for future sub wars, the information they gain will be review by High Seas Fleet Command and enact by High Seas Fleet Command. Now the fleet was ready for phase two, everyone waited for the Fleet Admiral go ahead and he did by saying

“Begin Phase two, battle stations!” with that the Mock Naval Battles begin between the two fleets simply known as Group A and B.

Fleet Admiral himself wrote a series of reports to High Seas Fleet Command, stating since the Imperium had no longer any foes in Mediterranean, it prove logically to move most of the Mediterranean fleet assets to Atlantic, Indian and Pacific fleets. Where they will prove most useful for the Imperium, High Seas Fleet Command was still debating this stance…they will soon make the decision in the coming months.

“Sir, we have firing solutions on the led Capital ships of group B, we’re awaiting your order to fire!” said Commander El Sid

The Fleet Admiral nodded and said” FIRE!”

The War game computers begun to compute damage ratios and results flashed, and Comm.officer yell out

“Sir, we lightly damage the Almohad, they are returning fire!”

“ Four destroyers sunk…two Uthman battlecruisers lighy damage, defense systems are holding up, we are now returning fire.” Yell out another officer

“We hit one of their fleet carriers, 88th naval air wing, has reported a hit!” said the Comm.Officer

and just the mock naval battle were in progress

The Fleet Admiral was the bridge, the mock battles phase was compete after four whole days of mock battles, it was now time for live fire exercises. A great number of decommission warships and merchant ships were bought into position, all the ships of the fleet were waiting for the go ahead to begin to shelling, or firing their missiles or torpedoes at the target ships.

The Fleet Admiral look at the latest reports on the positions of the Oceania Fleet, he knew they were watching the games with great interest. But it also unnerve him how willing where the Oceanians were to getting data…would they move their ships too close to his? That was the question that plagues the Fleet Admiral.

“Sir, Tubes 1 thou 10 are ready to fire anti-ship missiles, to signal the beginning of the phase three, we have the firing solutions on the target ships, Sir!” Said Commander El Sid

“Very well, fire!” replied the Fleet Admiral

“Aye,Fleet Admiral!” Replied the Weapons Officer

and just phase three was in progress.

Phase Three was going according to plan, the fleet was firing away at their targets and most of the time, the missiles and torpedoes hit their targets with great accurately for the most part. As for shelling of the targets, the fleet gunner crews finally got some action and hands on training on accurately hitting moving targets.

He was in Bridge and Command Chair, drinking his green tea. Then Commander El Sid came to him and hand him the latest reports

“Sir, our fleet will completely with phase three by the end of the day and also sir the Oceanians are still watching us…” said the Commander

“I see, and we are doing vice versa are we not?” asked the Fleet Admiral

HMS Dirk

Type 05 frigates were small, and that Lieutenant-Commander Anderson’s Batch 2 was an extended version made no real difference—it was still but a small ocean-going warship. Unlike the rest of Wakefield’s squadron, however, Anderson’s frigate was edging ever closer towards the perimeter of the al Muslimeen fleet.

At 16 knots, the Dirk was cruising, her diesel engines purring within her steel hull while the clean clipper bow sliced through the smooth seas of the Arabian Sea. Her main gun remained covered while her crew stood ready only to take defensive stations; Anderson was carefully following Wakefield’s instructions to not overtly push the al Muslimeen fleet into action. Yet the unwritten subtext remained brilliantly highlighted in Anderson’s mind covered so calmly with close-cropped fiery-red hair and beard. The Royal Navy was to push the Imperial High Seas Fleet… and then see when they would begin to push back.

“Make your course zero-seven-one degrees, Mr. Lipley,” Anderson called out to his executive officer. “Maintain sixteen knots.”

“Aye, captain.”

With those words, the frigate altered course just slightly. The slight, however, would be enough to carry it to a threshold point in half an hour, at which time it would violate the presumed zone of control being emphasised by the High Seas Fleet.

AMSS Fearless, Neustrashimy Class Frigate

Lt. Commander Asad Hayek was in the command of the many frigates deployed to patrol the outer waters of the war game zone and keep a watch on the Oceanians. Then one of his officers yells out

“Sir, a Oceanian Frigate is heading into the war game zone sir.. Estimate 20 minutes before the ship enters the zone, sir!”

The Lt.Commander thought to himself for moment “What the hell are the Oceanians trying to pull here…” and then he give the order

“Helm, change course to intercept the Oceanian frigate, set speed at 18 knots.” The Helm nodded and change direction, and then he turn to his comm.officer

“Send a message to the flagship, saying that we are breaking formation to investigate Oceanian trying to get in the war game zone.” He ordered

“Aye, sir!” replied Comm.Officer

For several minutes, Anderson and his executive officer watched the status remain the same—and then one of the al Muslimeen ships broke off. “Interesting,” Anderson muttered, his hazel eyes turning up to find the nervousness of his executive officer. “Calm down, Brian,” he spoke under his breath. “Look at these signatures, it appears to be their flotilla leader—issuing communications a great deal more than any other screening ship. I daresay that they would not be so rash as to risk their leader.”

“Unless, sir, they are so rash as to risk their commander to try and stop us.”

“Stop us, Brian? We are simply sailing on a course that might, and I emphasise might, take us into their perimeter. We have no way of knowing this for certain.” Anderson flashed his executive officer a toothy smile. “We shall continue on course. Keep the men alert, Brian. Have the gun crews ready the main gun for action—but do not train it. Also make the CIDS ready for use against this ship should they choose to come close or even board us.”

“Board us, sir?”

“All eventualities, Brian. That is our duty and we shall fulfill it.”

“For Crown and Country, sir. Very good, sir.”

Beneath the deck, within the superstructure, men made ready the small arms lockers while four ratings went topside to remove the cover from the 90 millimetre main gun. Anderson took great care to ensure that if by chance the al Muslimeen forces did eventually get a look at his ship it would be as unthreatening as possible. No reason to give them cause to fire upon the Royal Navy.

AMSS Fearless

“Report!” said Lt. Commander Hayek

“Sir, the Oceanian vessel has shown no sights of changing course eta 11 minutes before making contact sir!” yell out his second in command, Lieutenant Ali Bey

“Very well, then increase speed to 20 knots, have all defense systems on stand by..if they want to play this game of chicken then we will play also. Signal, the AMSS Minsk and Kiev (same class of frigate) to take up positions roughly 10 minutes away from our current position.” Said the Lt.Commander

“Aye sir!” replied Lt.Ali Bey
