To The Most Honourable Imperial Family of the Scandinvans,

Greetings. If, for some reason, you have not heard of me (which I presume is the case, because otherwise you would have contacted me personally and asked me to take on this job before asking around other countries), I am Galeazzo Gaviscilio, the Master Architect and Royal Minister of the Royal Architecturies and Chief Sheriff of the Forestries for His Majesty, King William Salisbury V.

My previous works include, but are not limited to, the Grand Palast at Balkest, the Garastma of Toristin, and the entire City of Ballistanburg. Surely you shall no longer be contemplating anyone else for this project.

I can guarantee you, that once finished, this Palace will be added to the most prestigious of the most prestigious of my masterpieces. I do have a few suggestions, though. If I complete this project as it is currently laid out, it would be no more than a mediocre stain on my record. If you are familiar with my other works, especially the residences that I have built for His Majesty, the King, you will see how miniscule your expectations are of me.

If I were to make this palace, I would envision it having everything you suggested and more. One Grand Ballroom becomes Twenty. I shall add Acropolises, Zoological Gardens, Hippodromes, Opera Houses, Cathedrals, Schools, Basilicas, and everything else that a residence of a family as great as yours deserves. Do not worry, for in anticipation of this request of mine, the King himself has agreed to foot the bill for any extra budgetary needs. The only constraint needs be land.

The other aspect of this project that most excites me is your request for an architect learned in the Baroque fashion. I can assure you, that, not only will I be your most skilled potential builder, but I will be the only one who has, in this modern era, worked on a vast array of Baroque style constructions.

In conclusion, please remember that, while if hired I will put this project as my highest priority, until you accept me I must keep up with my demand here in Cotenshire.

Signed,
Sir Galeazzo Gaviscilio, Master Architect and Royal Minister of the Royal Architecturies and Chief Sheriff of His Majesty, the King’s, Forestries

We graciously accept your application as you have shown yourself have the required experience and the true desire to build a structure of unparalleled glory and beauty.

Though we are thankful for your need we thank you for that.

As well, we will be more than happy to expand our construction efforts to include your planned expansions and we also will tell that the area itself is more then expansive.

Signed,
Emperor Olaf IV

To The Most Honourable Imperial Family of the Scandinvans,

Thank you for choosing me for this duty of constructing your palace. You will soon be glad of it.

Indeed, I shall be departing tomorrow for your state to begin the initial surveying, if you so desire that the preparations for construction begin so soon. Since hearing of your request for a contracted architect for this project, I have thought of nothing else. The walls of my mind are painted in glorious visions of what will be. Indeed, as I am writing this letter with my right hand, I am drawing conceptual sketches with my left.

Listed are some of the additions that I have thought of adding to your list of requested features:

Bath Houses
Opera Houses
Hippodromes
3 Abbeys (One Cistercian, One Benedictine, One Franciscan)
Acropolises
Schools
Bell Towers
Hedge Mazes
Basilicas
Pyramids
Cathedrals
Zoological Gardens
Aeroports

If you have any additional suggestions, please let me know. If you would like to cross a few off this list, that is fine too. I would object to too many being crossed off, however, because I abstain from the dreadful Minimalist School of neo-architecture.

Signed,
Sir Galeazzo Gaviscilio, Master Architect and Royal Minister of the Royal Architecturies and Chief Sheriff of His Majesty, the King’s, Forestries

(OOC: Check your TGs)OOC: Acropolises, barely knew what that was until I thought of Greece. Also, replied to the thread.

IC: To Sir Galeazzo Gaviscilio:

We are greatly pleased to hear that you will soon arrive and we have prepared a team of the finest painters in the Empire, who will follow you thoughts well and use their creativity to create some of the best frescos and wall paintings the world has ever known. Further, we are pleased to hear of your eagerness and vision for this great work of art that shall soon be started. To this we have began to gather the materials and the site is ready to begin contraction when you are ready.

Added we have now wired to you a 120 million USD commissions fee to you and prepared for you a residence based off what we believe you prefer.

As well, we wish to offer you a hereditary estate in the Empire and are prepared to grant you and your lineage titles as true Scandinvan nobility, nearly unheard of, and give you hereditary titles to the Imperial Court and a residence at the palace when it is done.

As for the added the construction features you have recommended we are more then pleased to add all of them on the list, but we must say that we do not want the pyramids to reach more then 14 ½ stories in height. Yet, we hope this doe not limit your genius.

Signed,
Emperor Olaf the IV

To the Most Potent Emperor Olaf the IV of the Scandinvans,

I extend my deepest gratitude for the title that you have offered me, which I shall take up. I am also appreciative of the residence and the huge sum of commissions, which I shall humbly accept.

Once I arrive I shall give your painters work, and their pieces will be installed in the palace and surrounding buildings once completed.

As far as the pyramids go, I shall comply and lower their height to 14 ½ stories.

Signed,
Sir Galeazzo Gaviscilio, Master Architect and Royal Minister of the Royal Architecturies and Chief Sheriff of His Majesty, the King’s, Forestries

On his first week upon arrival, Sir Gaviscilio prepared his initial surveying of the land. He had brought with him his team of architects, sculptors, and engineers. These professionals would assist him in the designing of the palace, but Sir Gaviscilio would be the sole creative mind.

The first task that Sir Gaviscilio set to accomplish was figuring an estimate for the amount of materials he would use. He would then adapt his concept sketches to the actual terrain and form the blueprint. Construction would be able to begin within 3 weeks.

@Scandinavia:

While the Community of the Elder Islands does not have suitable engineering capabilities for your Royal Family's dream palace, we do have a very developed fish-farm industry, and would be happy to supply any laborers with fresh fish sandwhich delivery. Just make sure President Gaius of the Elder Islands gets a luxury room the next time he comes to visit.

Lord Gaviscilio continued to draw up blueprints in his mobile headquarters, occasionally making rounds throughout the building site to personally oversee production. He also organized the shipment of specific materials that he wanted from his personal collection in Cotenshire. Except for the arrival of the Benedictine monks before construction on their abbey even began, there were no organizational problems that could not easily be corrected.

(OOC: I’m officially handing over all control over construction on the palace to you, as it is your palace so it should be how you want it.)

You forgot one of the coolest things about palaces and such.. secret areas...

I propose that you include an underground labrynth / mini city underneat complete with store houses an underground tunnel system, for fleeing or secretly bringing goods and materials..--- or even as a jail - or secret planning emergency backup area during a bombardment - or even as a place to conduct secret rituals.

ICCD would be willing to send engineers to work on an under palace labrynth.. while modern conveiences can also be included. This udnerground area could hold food and water to last for a long period should there be plauge epidemic or some type of seige or stand off or inability to get food or water. These labrytths can also act as a huge wine cellar, or to grow fine fungi or aquacultures, or blind fish. The uses are endless.

ICCD could also implement natural heating and cooling methods through use of ground air currents .. plus many other benifits.

You could even have an underground water tunnel system - like Vience.

Also the addition of a hanging tower may be of interest.. on the top of the tower perhaps a statue of a historical hero or religious leader, or current leader could be put. The tower itself could be a high library, and ivory tower of sorts. With perhaps an observatory or lookout?? along the walls ivy or some other system. A large forest garden is another beautiful idea having natural lands and groomed gardens is a beauty not to be forgotten. Perhaps above ground waterways could also exist.. used for irrigation as well as transport - both for liesure from place to place within the huge compound and easier transport of heavy goods, porting and controlled access, and increased awater source.
