President Marijinnsen announced the formation of SATO (the South American Treaty Organization). This will be an alliance of all democracies in South America who wish to preserve the peace and solidarity of the world. In other news, the IAN has announced its plans to introduce a new class of ship. Though it is unclear what kind of ship it will be, we are excited to hear of this interesting development. Also, all men between the ages of 18 and 25 are urged to sign their Service Selection Board papers at your local town hall or recruiting center. Signing this will make you eleigible for service in the IAA or the IAN.

The Ukrainian Army can supply you with quite modern weapons. We can produce a number of Local Russian Variant Weapons, as well as a few German and American ones. We can't, however, provide you with Naval equipment. Our navy is designed to protect our coastline from raiders and to provide support on the off-chance the battle is near the coastline.

Here's a list of the Equipment we can make and ship to you.
T-26 Bolt Action Rifle: Based of the Russian Mosin-Nagant. Improved Iron Sights.
K-21 Pistol: Based off the American Colt Model 1911. 8 and 9 round versions available.
Tk-27 Fragmentation Grenade: Based of the German Model 24. Shortened Handle
MTk-31 Machine Gun: Based off the British Vickers. Extended Barrel to increase it's range.

These are the weapons our own military uses. We can attest to their durability. Currently the only tank employed by us the K-32 and it is not extensiviley used. As so, production on them is very limitied. We hope these weapons will be satisfactory.

President Marijinnsen smiled down at the communique delivered by the Ukranian Embassy. "With weapons such as these, the Imperial Republic will be able to repulse any invasion," he said to one of his many aides. "Yes, sir," he responded, beaming at his leader. "Send a letter saying we accept the generous offer of the Ukranian Army graciously and in return we will begin our oil shipments," President Marijinnsen ordered. "Right away, your Excellency," The orderly replied briskly. He proceeded out of the room with a purposeful stride. We can finally get rid of the motley crew of weapons we employ now. The Army of the Appalacians would finally be able to completely standardize their weapons. In the past they had used a combination of American Springfields and German Mausers to arm their men. Now, Ukranian arms would replace the aging arsenal of the Appalacians.

We will send you weapons for oil. We will give you Remmington 1911 Riot Shotguns, Colt .45 M1914 (this is the current sidearm of the Cortellen military), Springfeild M1920 Sniper Rifles, and Liberty 1 tanks.

Excellent. The Imperial Appalacians Army will gladly accept your gracious offer of armaments as well. However, The Imperial republic already has a suitable sidearm, the K-21 Pistol. Your offer is greatly appreciated and we hope that our two great nations can continue to have good relations.

The Emperor has expressed his wishes that an exchange of embassies occur between The Imperial Republic of the Appalachians and The Barbaric Empire of Xeraph.

We have one available for you in our Royal City of Tarantia. You may have up to 50 staff, 25 security staff, two vehicles, and two HCGSs. The only weapons not permitted are chem/bio components and, of course, nuclear arms.

As to your need for arms, Xeraph has a large surplus of aircraft, naval vessals, and armor. It has all been retro-fitted to modern standards and stands ready for immediate use.

We do not require monetary payment for any of these items. We ask that you consider leasing Xeraph a tract of land in your country, on the coast, that can berth one CBG (24 ships), one AirWing (72 fighters), and a platoon of Jaguar MBTs. In addition, five hundred Xeraphian Marines and ten AI Spiders would accompany the hardware along with one MASH unit.

We have this arrangement with numerous other nations, and the total land needed would be about five square miles.

If agreeable to you, I can arrange out AI engineers to begin construction of the base, which will take approximately 35 days, at no cost to you.

President Marijinnsen gazed thoughtfully out to the crowd of students and parents. A promising future for the Imperial Republic, he thought. He was then called to the podium. He stood and took his rightful place in front of the gathered crowd.

"Now I look poon the bright future of our nation. The young minds graduating from here will become the leaders of tomorrow. Doctors, engineers, scientists; it is you who will propel our great Imperial Republic onto the grand stage! It was four years ago today that I presided over the opening of this establishment, and now I am glad to see the fruits of your instructors' labor. This is a great day for our nation and our people. Good luck in all you do, and Cogratulations!"

The following treaty was sent directly to the President of the Appalacians.

Charter of the South American Treaty Organization

Recognizing the threat posed by the dictatorial states of South America to the brave few democracies.

Asserting that in order to maintain peace and realize the fruits of democracy. The democratic nations in South America must band together and protect each other.

Acknowledging that some nations are better suited to protect democracy and must there for assist those yet of age.

Stating that in order to fulfill the fruits of democracy and defend liberty from the oppressors we must form a full military and economic alliance.

The Federal Republic of America hereby enacts the Charter of the South American Treaty Organization so that all freedom loving, democratic nations, may enjoy peace and prosperity and remain secure from those who would wish to strip us of our inalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

President Marijinnsen was thrilled by the recent treaty offered by the Federal Republic of the Americas. He signed it with hardly a thought in opposition to it. The solidarity offered by the alliance was just too good to pass up, and his people loved solidarity.
