1 - Governance
1.1 - Planetary Government
Each planet within the Unified Starfederation is an independent body in its own right - planetary taxes are levied, and used to work for the good of that world. A planet may hold colonies, mining installations, moons, and stars in its own right, however, unless they are claimed under the name of the Unified Starfederation (and thus able to be used by all members of the Starfederation), they are not considered to be under the jurisdiction of the Starfederation.
A Planetary Senate is elected from the people, who are elected using what is commonly termed the 'fluid election system', which means each Senator has a certain amount of 'seats' in the Senate, which is the amount of votes he or she received. However, each person is able to vote for anyone who puts their name up for election, and change their vote at any time they like. Thus, there are no 'elections' as such, as the elections are ongoing.
The Senate can claim new worlds in the name of a planet, and use the planetary taxes for what they deem fit.
The second governing body of a planet is the Governing Assembly, which does not govern a planet, but rather a district. Each district leader is elected in the same way as a Senator, and then governs the area, making bylaws, and the like. A Governing Assembly will rarely cover more than ten thousand people, and so thousands are on every major world.
1.2 - Colonial Government
Colonies of the Unified Starfederation are placed directly under its protection, and are permitted to act as nations in their own right. Unlike worlds of the Starfederation, which cannot decide their own foreign policy, colonies are deemed to be independent nations.
As such, they are allowed to form their own government, and the price, however, they must pay for their protection is simple. Submission to the Tyrant is total, and any order from the Tyrant must be obeyed.
Colonies are often protected alien species, or formerly independent human colonies who have chosen to give up a part of their independence to be protected, within the dangerous sphere of space the Starfederation inhabits.
A colony may be larger than a full-fledged planet in terms of population, however, a colony is a nominal member of the Starfederation, and is not required to pay as much permanent taxes, although it may be drafted for military members, and its assets liquidated, should the need arise, unlike a planet.
1.3 - Federal Government
The Tyrant is Federal Government. Appointed by the various members of Planetary Senates, who all get a number of votes equal to their 'endorsements' from various citizens for the Tyrant, the Tyrant is the supreme authority in the Starfederation.
He is, literally, a Tyrant, and is semipermanent in nature. He holds supreme executive power, and may legislate anything that does not deal with elective powers - a Tyrant may not remove the power of the people to remove him. A Tyrant, much in the same was as Senators are endorsed, is endorsed. However, a Tyrant requires only the most popular vote to become Tyrant, and, should this change, a new man will become Tyrant.
There are no limitations upon becoming Tyrant, indeed, Tyrants from outside the Starfederation may be elected - if the largest portion of citizens choose such. The Tyrant system works fairly well, allowing him to pursue his own agenda, for as long as it matches that of the citizens, at which point they will promptly choose another. Thus, unlimited power is held in check by the threat of removal.

Pending a complete mapping out of the Starfederation by myself, this section will remain untouched, as so I can more accurately determine the various demographics and members of such among the population.

3 - The Military
3.1 - The Scintillion Fleets
Whilst colonies may retain nominal independence, and, indeed, their own fleets, members of the Starfederation may not. Although many private planetary navies still exist, under the excuse of lawkeeping, they are slowly be absorpted into what are named the Scintillion Fleets.
The Scintillion Fleets obey the rule of the Tyrant, who is supreme commander-in-chief. At present, seven Scintillating Fleets exist, all of which are fairly well-armed.
- A brief guide to the classification of ships within the Scintillating Fleets -
Capital Ship: A capship is a battleship, dreadnought, carrier, or cruiser. These three classes comprise the 'true' capital ships of the Scintillion Fleets, behemoths to rival even the most powerful starships.
Picket Ship: A frigate, destroyer, or escort ship is a 'picket' ship, although most nations count the first two as capital ships. Picket ships are the backbone of most fleets, used for a variety of purposes.
Fightercraft: Obsolete in most nations, self-replicating drones, otherwise known as fightercraft, are the standard communications network of the Scintillion Fleets, and are also used to engage smaller enemy craft. All fightercraft in the Scintillion Fleets generally serve as self-directed missiles, these being far more devastating than the old ideal of cockpits and pilots, with a few guns attached. Each Scintillating Fleet has a population of five thousand fightercraft per carrier, assuming the carriers are at full capacity.

3.2 - The Allied Armed Forces
The Allied Armed Forces are the ground forces of the Starfederation, serving as primarily invasion forces, as most defenses are handled by more-than-competent colonial and planetary militia. They also have their own branch of the navy, the Transportation Battalions, who serve to move them from world to world.
Approximately 0.3% of the population serves in the AAF, the majority of them in support and logistical poositions.
