Extending the Commonwealth (E35)
SIC:
Grand President Wasyl Mykhailo sat in his office thinking over something. The Balkans. While in truth it wasn't as violent as it was twenty to twenty five years ago. It still was a hotbed of power-struggles. Different Ethnic groups fought each other for dominance in area already to small for all of them. It was poor region, but it also held many natural resources. The Grand President slowly sipped at his Ukrainian Vodka as a plan came to mind.
It was true that most of the Balkan States were broken and scattered and held little loyalty to each other. It was also possible to enrange them all and feel the Balkans combined wrath. The Grand President had to be careful going about this. He looked at map of the Balkans and looked at the various "nations" in the region. A quick scan put Bulgaria, Macedonia, and Albania out of his plans. The most likely place was Serbia. It was the Balkan nation that held the longest border with Romania. It's population was mostly made up of Serbs, this made it one of the most stable.
He had settled on his target, and now he had to make it look legit. Expanding the Commonwealth was always good, because in theory The Commonwealth was made up of equal nations all working towards the same goal. When in fact it was actually a Ukrainian Run Alliance used to fuel their expansion. It keeps most of the people happy and makes the Alliance look legit. In fact in the past two decades, the Alliance actually did what it's psuedo-charter said it would.
The Grand President made some quick telegrams to his 'equal' in Romania, outlining his plans. The Premier of Romania would see it his way and would follow through on most, if not all, of the plans. Romania would plan some elaborate Hoax, giving them a reason to invade Serbia. Romania would invade, after calling up some 100,000 Reservists. After this, the Ukraine would send support to help aid the Romanians. After the Romanians subdue Serbia, we will make it a Ukrainian Protectorate for 3 to 6 years. After the Protectorate period is over it will be inducted into the Ukrainian Commonwealth.

Two Weeks Later...
It was a peaceful day in the Romanian City of Craiova. People were going about there normal duties. There was a general air of happiness. Near everyone had something to be happy for. Be it a families, a good, a loving girlfriend or boyfriend, or even just waking up. All was well. But suddenly....
An Explosion ripped through the square. Debris and people were both thrown back. Smoke billowed out of a burning building as fire tore through it, gutting the floors and anyone unlucky enough to survive the blast. The fire soon spread to nearby buildings and would keep spreading until the Fire Wardens arrived.
After news of the explosion reached Commonwealth Citizens ears, a general air of displeasure and sadness reigned throughout the country. The people wanted to know who did this, why, and how long would it take them to destroy them.
5 day after the blast...
The tears of the nation gave way to seething anger at whoever was responsible. The Government of Romania made no comment about who was doing it, other than they were investigating it. This only seemed to stoke the fires of the people. They wanted a scapegoat and they wanted it now. The Commonwealth was more then happy to give them one. One specifically chosen by them weeks ago. Today, Premier Sorin Emil was to give a full initial report to the people. The nation waited in complete silence.
Premier Sorin Emil stood behind a podium infront of the rubbe of bombed out building. The people of Craiova were in front of him, screaming and yelling for information. The Premier just stood there withstanding there barrage. Suddenly a signal was given, only seen by the Premier. He took a deep breath and then began to read.
"People of Craiova and the Commonwealth of Romania. I am here today to tell why there was an explosion that destroyed the building behind me and why 75 people are no longer with us today."He said. Suddenly the crowd was silent as they waited patiently for the Premier to continue.
"We have found that the explosion was caused, not by a fuel leak, but by a bomb." He said. The crowed suddenly was filled with questions and quiet murmuring was abound across the crowd. The Premier paid them little heed as he kept on reading.
"We have also found out the culprits responsible." He said. The crowd then burst with yelling as they wanted to find out who it was. The Premier waited a minute for the crowd to be silent and the crowd fell quiet after the minute was over.
"The culprits have been found to be Serbian Nationalists, trying to make the Romanian Government cower." He said. The Premier mentally cringed at the lunacy of it all, but didn't show it on his face. The crowd still quite loud from the last sentence, burst into almost full riot mode. The Premier looked to a police sergeant and the sergeant gave a signal to his men to prepare for a possible riot. The crowd eventually settled down.
"It is with great anger that I hearby declare war on Serbia, by the Commonwealth of Romania." He said. The crowd bursted into cheers and began to chant 'ROMANIA'. The Premier had a small amount of pride at the Nationalism of the people. He then walked away, letting the crowd disperse.
To:Our Slavic Neighbor, The Ukrainian Commonwealth,
The Shakal Empire offers support to the people of Romania after the blast that rocked the country. We hope that this event can be...handled in short order. We had no involvement in this attack and will support the ever friendly Commonwealth in its course of actions.
From: Vladmir Corpelstein, First Minister Of The Shakal
OOC:Being much closer to the actual event I think its fair to say that my government has at least minor knowlege of the situation in Serbia. Im not saying we know that you invaded. Just that you will probably plan to do something along those lines.
In the weeks that followed the Premier's speech much had happened in Romania. The border between Romania and Serbia was closed down and patrolled by Romanian Military Units. Reserve units were called up across Romania. Initial reports put the number somewhere around 100,000 being called up, with more possible. Most of the troops would be used in place of the standing Romanian Army, while it went to war with Serbia.
The entirety of the Romanian Army, some 125,000 troops, and a attachment of 50,000 troops from the Ukraine mobilized along the Romanian-Serbian Border. Along with them were some 500 artillery pieces and 1000 Trucks. The plan was simple. Using artillery to dislodge the enemy, the army would mow over anything that stood in there way. Their main objectives were the cities of Novi Sad, Bor, Belgrade, and Pancevo. Once those cities were capture they would swing south, and slowly move southward. Keeping all resistance south of them. Simple and hopefully good.
Now the army waited for the single. The single that would start the artillery barrage. And that signal had 12 more hours.
To: The Empire of Shakal
From: The Ukrainian Commonwealth
We thank you for your kind words. Our investigation ruled your people out almost immediately. Our relations with your people have been cordial throughout us knowing each other and we figured why attack someone who we have no grudge against. We respect you and your people.
I would recommend that you detain any suspicious Serbians within your country. They are easily riled, and seeing you support us may turn them against you. We wouldn't want our friend to be damaged because of all this.
Sincerely
Grand President Wasyl Mykhailo of Kiev
-The Romanian-Serbian Border-
12 hours later...
It was the dead of night. Silent wishpers travelled up and down the Romanian lines. They were preparing themselves mentally for the task ahead of them. The Invasion of Serbia. This was to be their shining glory, or their crashing defeat.
Suddenly a whistle was faintly heard by the men in the hastely made trenches along the border. It was faint, but the sound that followed it was nowhere near faint. Booming thunder was heard all across the line. The Invasion had started. Shells ranging from 75mm to 105mm rocketed towards Serbia and their intended targets. Bright blooms of light danced across the horizon as the first shells landed. It was almost pretty, in a morbid way.
Serbian-Romanian Border...2
2 Hours after start of Barrage...
The Artilley had been firing for two hours. The barrels of the guns were hot to the touch and yet the crews still kept on firing. as they were ordered to. They wanted revenge for the attacks on their country, and if a little burns to their hands were needed help that revenge, then so be it. As clocks all up and down the Romanian line struck 4 am artillery guns fell silent. An erie silence fell across the line. Fires along the horizon burned because of the artilley barrage.
Suddenly whistles were blown all across the line. The Infrantry were on the move. Their orders were to capture the scattered Serbian Soldiers, while moving towards their military objectives. Belgrade and Pancevo would be the first to be entered and most likely captured. Fighting would be intense and casualties would be most likely high. The Romanian Soldiers were willing to die for this mission.
To:The Ukrainian Commonwealth
The Shakal Empire will hold all suspicious persons in custody until the conflict is over. We hope for your swift victory and an eventual hegemony throughout the Balkans.
From:Vladmir Corpelstein, First Minister of the Shakal Empire

"Tonight it is with powerful judgment of his leadership the Kanzler, the Ukraning Commonwealth is an enemy of the Federation and will be treated as so. War has been declared officially and troops inside Serbia are to bog down an begin one of the largest Trench projects sence 1919 in WWI. Let it be knowen that the Federation holds rightful claims to Serbia, the Commonwealth claiming Serbia for its own its a direct act giving us rights to declare this war. Let it be knowen that by the end of this week troops inside Croatia and Bosnia will be redirected into Serbia, divisions on the Hungary border are to be sent down into Serbia to give aid to the elements of the 2nd army." - Official Government Decree against the Commonwealth.

OFFICIAL GOVERNMENT STATEMENT
The United Arab Socialist Republic would like to begin by criticizing the involved parties of this war for completely bypassing any and all diplomatic solutions to this problem. While Serbs have committed this act of violence, there is no proof that the government of Serbia had them do it. This is, if we recall correctly, how the Great War started, is it not?
However, we would like to also heavily condemn the European Federation for their colonialist invasion of the Balkans on odd territorial claims with no basis at all. And when the Ukrainian Commonwealth comes into said land with a semi-legitimate casus belli, the Federation irrationally declares war on the Commonwealth as well. As such, the UASR will officially be cutting off any UASR oil supplies going to the European Federation, and declares its support for the Ukrainian Commonwealth in this conflict.

Serbia-Federation Border
A small amount of armored units cross the border with ease and surrounding them walk hundreds of Federation Soldiers equipped with simple Mauser 98's. They wear old helmets with flat rings on them and green coats with the Federation flag attached to their left shoulders. The armored units are driving slow enough for the soldiers to walk with them and they are all headed inward into the main of Serbia. They march past trench lines being built and thousands of men from the 2nd army who greet them with a grim look as they know what the company is going toward.
Soldiers on the March: 12,000
Armored Units on the March: 123
Remaining forces yet to me marched: 43,000 of the 1st armies 7th Artillary, 8th Artillary and 5th Infantry.

Official Reply of European Federation
Tread lightly in this conflict for you do not know what you are messing with. The Federation condemns you and t he side you have chosen, we are only taking what is rightfully ours. The Federation wishes not the wage another great war but only the unify the nations of Europe under a single flag and that flag should be ours. Prepare yourself for when the Commonwealth falls we will look toward you and if your still against us you will fall as well.
After the European Federations declaration of war against the Ukrainian Commonwealth much changed. Reserves were brought up all across the commonwealth. There numbers would be most needed in this war against there vile opponent. Estimates said that the number of Reserves called up was near 1 million, while others put it at 750,000. Rumors of a draft were crushed early when the Grand President stated that whatever the outcome was of the war, no one would be drafted. Morale was high throughout the Commonwealth.
In Romania, the troops called up before the war moved into an immediated defensive line at the Federation-Commonwealth Border. There mission was to discourage an Federation Attack into Romania and keep the fighting in Serbia. Trench lines were drawn all across the border, and it looked as though any fighting there would be the same as it was 20 years ago.
In Serbia, elements of the First Romanian Army reached the outskirts of Belgrade. Resistance was tough and casualties were high on both sides. Orders were to take the city and move as far west as possible. They were then supposed split into two, with one group preparing a defensive line to the north while the other moved steadily south. Reinforcements would most likey be on the way at this part of the plan.
