Special Government Press Release
"Today, 481 dissidents have been successfully arrested, tried for conspiracy to contribute to the breakdown in law and order, and found guilty of posing an 'inestimably high risk' to national security and the preservation of peace and morality. Each of the accused has been found guilty and all are sentenced to immediate death by hanging. None of the accused enjoys the right of appeal, and all are to be promptly executed in a televised public ceremony at 5:00 P.M. Among the arch-criminals were Communists attempting to instigate class warfare, racists attempting to produce racial friction, common thugs with no desire but to shatter the foundations of peace upon which our society survives, anarchists plotting to overthrow the government, and liberal democrats who issued the blatantly treasonous idea of 'holding elections.' Let their unmourned deaths be an example to any and all who would threaten the state or its interests. That is all. Thank you."

The Federation of Aunesia urges the The Armed Republic of Gunjnyria to commute the death sentences passed on these individuals to life imprisonment, as an act of clemency, and to cease the use of the death penalty as a punishment to demonstrate the Republic's commitment to Human Rights and compassionate governance.

OOC: Double post much?
IC: Kolvokia commends the swift and decisive response of the Gunjnyrian law enforcement forces. However, as a point of advice, we would advise that henceforth, instead of executing political dissidents, which, among this sort of fanatics generally does not provide sufficent deterrent, you take the following steps, similar to those employed in Kolvokia.
First, remove all legal protection from them and their immediate families. When their children are regularly assaulted, their women unprotected, their property void to the state, and that which the state does not please free to any who choose to take it, those who think of following their example will think again.
Second, instead of sentencing them to death, sentence them to a lifetime of hard labor, preferably in remote locations. This way, you not only remove them from society, you gain a free work force. As for any deemed especially dangerous, well, accidents are common in the type of labor they should be sentenced to.

"Unfortunately, we cannot and will not commute their sentences. They have been properly tried and convicted. The law is very clear on the matter: Treason is, without exception, a capital crime. Therefore, the executions will still take place."

The Federation of Aunesia would urge the Armed Republic to listen to the concerns of the dissidents, and expresses concerns about the freedom and transparity of their trials.
The government of Haraki frowns not only upon your use of the death penalty, your use of a judicial system without the allowance of the public into the courtroom (OOC: Read: You didn't show us the trial, just the result), a basic human right, and some of the groups you have chosen to prosecute. We do not care for racists and thugs, but request that rather than execute them, you ship the political prisoners - communists, anarchists, and liberal democrats - to Haraki instead. We will even provide transport for them on a Harakian ship, if allowed to dock in one of your ports. You could commute their punishment from death to exile - it serves the same purpose to you either way, and you still get to execute the racists and thugs in a public performance to demonstrate the power of your government.
We await your reply.

President Sinclair sat the majestic and opulent Kensington Palace, flipping through the channels on the television.
This is Bernard Lee, for the BBC World Service. The nation of Gunjnyria has recently announced that they will be killing four hundred and eighty one accused dissidents.
The President yawned, changed the channel to the Manchester United/Arsenal game, and had sex with the Minister for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, Kelsey Birhanu.

The Kingdom applauds your decision to execute these criminals. We are glad you choose to uphold your laws under international pressure to commute sentences. To subscribe to these ideals of leniency would show, only weakness. Good luck with the executions, the King will be watching intently.

Cortellen wishes to know why you are doing this. This will have no effect on these groups. As long as there are people in your country you will get groups such as these and there is no way to get rid of them until you listen to them, although we are glad you show no mercy on the racists.

Seeing how swiftly the trial was, as well as the speed of the executions, we must assume that these crimes were all made up and these people made an example of so that the groups they are accused of being part of will think twice before challenging the government, we condemn this cowardly act, examples do not need to be made if you make your point clear enough. If it wasn't for the fact that we feel that the loss of life would be greater, we would have intervened. -The Lone Alliance Ministry of Equality.

The Armed Republic of Kolvokia once again commends the swift and speedy justice carried out by the Gunjnyrian criminal justice system, especially in the respect of standing up to the pressure placed on them by foreign nations.
