Mobilization (New Albor Defense Thread)

OOC: Whoever is planning on invading me from the Alliance of Self-Righteous Democracies, use this thread... it will help keep the paperwork down for all of us. Remember, I am exclusively MT, so if I see anything from Babylon 5, satelite bombardmant from orbit, etc, I will ignore it. Also, in another post, (The East Albor Syndrome) there is some lingering radioactivity in Eastern New Albor.

Link to my map for when I discuss places some may not understand :)

Federation of New Albor Map (http://bp1.blogger.com/_WoUhOHvs1U0/RZdqi_m9JII/AAAAAAAAAAQ/V2wr4YAvz0A/s1600-h/federation+map.JPG)

My factbook has a disposition of forces; however, we have instituted a draft, so they are not quality troops, but we have a full mobilization and the materiel to arm say 500,000 troops effectively, though I would consider only 100,000 troops and marines, and 2500 pilots/aviators are considered high quality. The Federation has been preparing numerous defenses at its bases (7 in total, some secret) and its cities. From a Terrain perspective, any invasion from the North would involve dealing with a lot of tropical rain forests and forests in general, while the central regions are desert and intermontaine terrain. The West coast is mediterranean as is much of the South, the East was similar until much of it was turned to radioactive slag. I only offer this as any satelites you would use for surveilance would discover these items, and it's much easier to get it out front than a lot of questions.

Any further OOC questions about terrain, hazards and such, please send me a TG and I will respond as soon as I can.

IC: Fleet Command, Office of the Admiralty:

'Admiral, we've received final mobilization orders... the First Fleet is to be divided into two defense forces, with Shore Defense providing coastal support. SubCommand is deployed and our subs stand ready.'

'Excellent. Deploy the Victory and the Alliance(OOC: Swanner-class destroyers) as heads of the task forces and coordinate with the AWACS for targeting solutions. All Naval fighters on full alert, keep as many F-35's in the air on combat patrol around the capital.'

'Sir, should we continue to concentrate our patrols in the main areas.'

Admiral Sutherlin nodded grimly. 'We have no choice. The Royal Navy is well-trained and will do its duty, but we don't have the forces the Army has. At least the Royal Marines have been recalled from their embassies and are leading the National Defense Program. Has General Leavings gotten back with me on Option: Gamma?'

The aide nodded. 'Yes, sir. He acknoweledges the plan. He also feels it is the only way to combat any invading force. '

'I agree as well... shame, though. Very well. Execute.'

Officers in the Command Center scrambled, issuing orders to the task forces, as reports continued to come in about Army and Air Force operations.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Defense Minister Lt. General James Leavings Field Operations Command: An aide rushed to the General's Command Center with the confirmation from the Admiralty. 'Sir... General Leavings... I have confirmation.'

The General nodded succintly, smiling even. 'Good. I knew he would confer, but Option: Gamma comes from the PM, and is our only course of action to repel and deter any invasion. I've already begun to move our forces in the expectation of confirmation. The I-III Corps are on their way to Albor City; IV-VII Corps are en route to Bahia; the new 2nd Army will act as a perimeter defense and react as needed. The Royal Air Force will be providing appropriate cover, and our Strategic Forces are prepared for Option: Delta according to their plans.'

Leavings looked at the update boards and listened to the orders coming in... It is a shame, he thought. All these brave men, to be sacrificed upon the will of evil men. He continued to bark orders and hoped everyone would do their duty and would carry out their mission.

I hope all operations are in order and that we can make a good showing. I will do what I can to stop the avalanche, but things are far beyond our control. Further, extend every effort of trust to our Leocardian allies. Their forces are moving in position as we speak.

Gentlemen,

We have reviewed all options and even with the assitance of Leocardia, it will be quite the struggle. While a significant percentage of the population has armed, (thanks to our liberal gun laws) they are little more than partisans, the VietCong to our NVA if you will. Of course, the NVA does not have access to our technology, and the final piece of Option: Omega is in place. I must urge it as a last resort, but better that than live under the bootheels of unwarranted aggression. I continue to await final orders and we will prepare as necessary.

Re: Peace Proposal

I am sending this to you as the Federation of New Albor and not as a member of the EVIL Alliance. I am sure many of them feel the have the power to withstand an assault of the magnitude planned. Our nation is already feeling such strain, and while devoted, we cannot prevail with the odds arrayed against us.

However, many in my government want war and are not only prepared to repel an invasion they cannot stop, (even with Leocardia's help) but to make a desert out of any peace they would be forced to accept (of course, I see the aggressors in this, Whyatica and their lap-dogs, as destroying us utterly anyway). We may not have the firepower, but we have ingenuity and the will for this to go poorly. Most of my government is being foolishly swept up in the tides to war. I, however, see things differently. As foreign minister, I can stop this, but I am not sure I can stop the invasion (as it is happening very, very soon, according to my sources). Once it goes forth, I don't know what will happen, except that millions will die on all sides... my government has that kind of will to ensure that kind of destruction.

You appear to be in the business of saving lives... so am I. We must act together to avoid tragedy.

Regards,
Allen Clements

The Allaneans were being busy elsewhere – two of the force projection fleets were already deployed at war with two separate countries. However, they were backed by dozens of allies – the Allaneans felt they could spare some more strain. And fighting a nation where the population was smaller then their combined military would not be a big problem – or so they sought.

As such, the First Haven Domination Fleet took off in the general direction of New Albor. What was precisely the plan of this fleet? This remained unknown.

Did they even have a plan?

This remained equally unknonw.

Our terms are quite simple for you and the rest of the alliance of EVIL to save yourselves. They are outlined here. (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=12175703&postcount=18) We believe that this is the only way for peace to be realized. If you wish to break away from the alliance of EVIL and submit fully to the FKC then we believe that would gain you favour for negotiations with the coalition forces.

I am beset on all sides by those who wish to fight anyways and those who would call me traitor for daring to think of peace. I do know this, if one enemy soldier touches our soil or one Alborian dies at their hands (or their bombs), then we will be at the point of no return. Leocardian military engineers from the 45th Central Marine Corps, has begun its construction. Adding in the state of the art defences for the military base, as well as building facilities that will be structurally powerful enough to withstand bombs being dropped. Radar stations to detect even the most hidden objects, and missile silos to contain and maintenence the missiles. Rumors from the Government says that Leocardia is thinking of adding a nuclear missile in the base. Anyway, Leocardia's aims for this base will be in 1.5 NS years.

Foreign Minister Clements worked feverishly at the computer, making sure the message was encrypted and hoped it would get through. He added the final touches and sent the message to Vrak, hoping to stave off the inevitable... the computer buzzed... <partial failure> What? He looked at the screen and noticed a priority message from NAIS (National/New Albor Intelligence Service): Minister, according to the articles of War, your priviliges have been suspended at the highest level. Prepare to be arrested.

His eyes widened in terror and he reached for his desk, grabbing the Glock 27 and held it loosely at his side... he heard the shots in the foyer, arrested? No, not now. The doors sprung open and 4 SpecForce Soldiers stormed into the office. 'Sir. The Prime Minister requests an audience. Come with us.'

'It's too late... you idiots.'

'Not our choice sir'. The soldiers leveled the MP5s at the Defense Minister. 'Mr. Clements, you must come with us.' Clements shook his head, knowing that the end would be soon. He couldn't face it... damn them for this. He leveled his Glock and managed to get a shot off, striking one of the SpecForce soldiers in the arm. They were so surprised, Clements fired another round wildly before the soldiers opened fire, riddling the Defense Minister, his desk, his computer, and any chance of peace with a hailstorm of bullets...

The leader of the SpecForce troops called over his comm-set. 'It's done. He resisted, just as you said he would. 1 man wounded, looks light. Yessir. Everyone else in the Ministry has been dealt with.'

Blood ran across the desk and mingled with the smoldering remains of Clement's computer, dripping on to the corpse of the Foreign Minister.

The fleet did not, unfortunately, include any carriers. But it did include anti-air defense ships – about twenty of them – and a few aircraft could be launched from the other ships. So, a hail of long-range anti-air missiles were launched at the approaching enemy fighters (about 200, all in all). Then, CIWS took over, and tore apart several incoming missiles. It did not help.

3 Iowa-N class battleships were disabled, and were scuttled immediately in fear for a reactor link. Furthermore, two more ships of the same class were hit and begin to sink rapidly, the crew scuttling as they went. And finally, a Zealous-class superdreadnaught lost it's radar array.

And then, the Allanean reply came.

The Demon class Arsenal ships were old, outdated designs, a waste of money for the Navy. They were also very dangerous – literal tinderboxes for the crew. Happily, they were extremely automated. So even now, the limited fifty-man crews began to scuttle the ships, even though all their engines were still working.

And two of them fired their entire ammunition stockpiles – 1,000 Shockhound missiles – of them, 100 aimed at the enmy's airfields, and the others, at his AA systems in the same areas the previous attack had targeted.

OOC: so I assume no EMP damage? I didn't know if I was crossing a tech line or not :)

Thankfully, the airfields were prepared for the salvo (still destroying two major ones completely), but the unrelenting barrage of anti-air missiles destroyed all the F-18's, and all but 4 of the F-35's were destroyed. They dumped their remaining ordinance into the missile cruisers (2 missiles each, alas), then dove their planes into the hail of fire, kamikazing into a cruiser each.

The Air Defenses, overwhelmed by the Shockhounds, did their best, but were annhilated; however, the strategic craft managed to escape the incoming onslaught having been on alert status. The 5 B-2's and the 10 B-52's cruised to an appropriate height, escorted by 10 F-22's and 10 RAC Curiatii's and unleashed their payload upon the death-dealing missile cruisers and any support ships (OOC: note all but the B-52s are stealth equipped). The AWACs, escorted by F-16s and A-10s, continued to track too many targets, but directed shore based missile systems to fire another salvo of Tomahawks.

The Naval Forces split into two task forces, lead by a Swanner-class destroyer each and sped to the entrance of Albor Bay and the Gulf of Bahia, awaiting the enemy.

Meanwhile, SubCommand continued its mission in execution of Option: Omega.

The move to abandon the Demons was a smart one. Twenty of them caught fire like tinderboxes, including the two that just fired. The other ships were so far intact – the AA systems that were damaged by the enemy EMP were coming back online again.

The Allaneans shrugged. They expected this, and they still had 30 Demons left.

They decided to launch bigger salvos of missiles – simply to get off as many shots as possible before the enemy had destroyed the launching ships.

And so, two Demons fired their payload at each of the fleets – about 2,000 missiles in total.

Two more targeted the nearest airfields. If the enemy aircraft would not be caught there, at least they'd have nowhere to land.

OOC: No worries, just wanted to be sure...

IC: The AWACS alerts could not track all the missiles and the two task forces could not handle the incoming barrage. The defense systems protected the most important ships and the smaller cruisers and cutters were obliterated. The escort ships took a heavy beating as well and even the mighty Swanner destroyers were damaged from the barrage... about 70% of the New Albor navy was rendered ineffective from the assault but most of the fleet, before they went to the bottom of the Bay and the Gulf, launched their remaining ordinance at the Allanean fleet. In their distress, the task forces ordered the Shore Defense fleet (comprised mostly of missile cruisers, escorts and cutters, about 12 ships in all) from New Wellington to assist.

The B-2's released their missiles and gps bombs while the B-52's lauched 12 FAE's on top of their ordinance of missiles and bombs... The f-22's headed to their emergency refueling sites and the B-52's and B-2's returned to the interior air bases since they had the capacity to make it.

The Allanean losses were immense. None of the Demon-class ships survived the attack at all, and three oilers were blown up. Further, two submarines that were surfaced due to a tactical error were obliterated as well. Furthermore, a light cruiser was damaged in the attacl and had to be scuttled completely, as well as an Air Defense vessel.

In total, sixty ships were lost out of four hundred since the beginning of the conflict. While most of them were unmanned, and scheduled for dismantlement anyway, this was still heavy. And Allanea would indeed retaliate.

Their navy continued to advance towards the enemy.

And so, from the Allanean light cruisers, so far not engaged in the fighting, one hundred missiles were fired at the 12 ships that still stood between them and the shore.

In the meanwhile, back in Allanea, hundreds of aircraft began to take off.

OOC: just to give you a heads up for the advance and for the hundreds of aircraft I probably can't stop with what little anti-air I have left, I just wanted to let you know that most of my military targets and industrial capacity is in the SouthWest near Albor City and Bahia (indeed my main shipyard is between the two cities). And, of course, Albor City is the capital.

IC: Even with the devastation inflicted by the Albor Air and Naval Forces, the Navy was all but destroyed, the Shore Defense Fleet getting off one weak salvo at the invasion force before being annhilated. The remants of the task forces fled at flank speed (the 2 Swanner destroyers and 4 heavily damaged frigates) toward Albor City and Bahia, determined to help repel the invasion at all costs.

The Army's surface to surface batteries rearmed beneath their concrete shelters, but knew it was only a matter of time before the real force of invasion hit them. The AWACs kept track of any more salvos, but the pilots knew they had nothing. Their duty was to help make sure the B-2's and B-52's could rearm.

The ground forces hunkered down and set up their perimiters within Bahia and Albor City, waiting for the carnage to come.

OOC: Post agreed upon with New Albor

IC:

And so, from Allanea, hundreds of immense RB-225 bombers came, escored by two thousand old, outdated F-18 aircraft. They dropped high-accuracy, laser guided munitions on shore defenses – on city defenses – on army bases. Hundred and hundreds of bombs, ranging from the 500-kilogram anti-armor, and down to immense 10-ton bunker-busters. In total, 1,000,000 tons of bombs were dropped on military targets or in their proximity – in what was the largest bombing raid in Allanea's history in terms of the weight of the bombs.

And yet, no civlian target was designated, and no civilians would hopefully be hurt – unless the New Alborians placed their military equipment right inside their civilian population concentrations.

And from Allanea, another flight of aircraft was coming – now, a wave of ultra-heavy Archimedes' Lever aircraft. They carried thousands of Airborne troops - and six hundred Girl Scouts.

Within minutes, parachutes began to open all over the capital of New Albor. The troops began to move out to seize government buildings – of most interest were two battalions sent to seize the nation's gold reserve from its' estimated locations, and the Girl Scouts, sent towards the official seat of government.

OOC: Post agreed upon with Allanea

IC: From the Office of the Prime Minister:

People of New Albor, the overwhelming, lightning invasion of Allanea has resulted in catastrophic military losses, as the ruins of Albor City and the hulks of our defense fleet indicate. The Airborne attack was too much, and our generals have agreed to a formal surrender. The terms of the treaty have been fair, but we have been ordered to turn over our military banners to Allanea. Further, we are forced to withdraw from the EVIL alliance bloc effective immediately.

Therefore, noble soldiers and citizens of New Albor... we shall have peace and we shall rebuild.

The Allaneans have completed their landing – and even their missions – as the response came. They have already done what they came to do. The doors of the national Gold reserve vault of New Albor were broken, and trucks after trucks of gold were ferried out until nothing was left. That would create some problems for New Albor's economy – but nothing like losing a war. And at the same time as the treaty was signed, a Girl Scout in a beige uniform – mini-skirt flailing in the winds – climbed the capital building and hoisted the Allanean flag off the front of the Parliament of Dreams.

After the appropriate pictures were taken for the press, the Allaneans left.
