Operation Firestorm (ATTN SU, SB,Velk, Kroando)

Willink

20km outside Spizanian rear front

"Golf One to command, do we have clearance to continue?

This is command , you have permission to continue with current task."

The immeasurable rows of enormous transport aircraft rumbled along through the sky, the air around it streaming from the cold weather. Inside the cabin, the four members of the flight crew worked among themselves, making sure the plane continued its current course, altitude, and the like.

Inside the cargo bay, two dozen paratroopers sat, in a state of waiting, bagged for the unknown that lay ahead.

Lieutenant Karl Mikoslav was in lead of his said group of para forces, and set about working the men up for the task at hand. Offering words of confidence and well-being to the reluctant newbies to the force, even the most seasoned troops acting conscientiously.

"This is your aircrew, we are nearing the drop zone. Gather your equipment and prepare for stratagem.

God be with you all, for the Empire onward."

With that, the massive door at the rear of the aircraft thundered open, the squeal of friction combined with old age inflaming the troops ears. The para's stood, and walked in line to the edge of the cargo door.

Mikoslav, fighting to better the whistling roar of the wind, yelled commands the best he could.

"We will be landing a few dozen kilometers behind the main front, at a rear area that has been set up by Velkya.

Your mission is to reinforce Spizanian troops on their main front."

Mikoslav glanced down quickly. The plane's altitude had decreased considerably, as the trees were visible in the darkness below.

Alright, I will offer more commands once we drop, and good luck to all.
"
With that the men jumped from the cargo hold, in perfect two by two lines, totaling nearly twenty-five thousand men from over one hundred transport planes.

But this was just the opening motions of the operation.

Dartia, Nova Europe

Based on Willink ran batteries in Dartian's northernmost territory, a barrage of deadly missiles were being prepared for Kroando's surface warships in the Baltic.

The Khan (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Khan_Class_Missile), literally designed to fly through enemy air defenses and cripple the enemies largest warships, was widely regarded by influential nations as the most powerful anti-ship missile in existence, an ideal that was obvious by just looking at the operator list.

All in All, nearly 150 missiles sat in Dartia, prepared to effectively cripple his largest warships. The main targets would be major capital ships.

The Superdreadnoughts and Super-Carriers of the Kroando fleets would come fist, who's anti-missile defenses would prove physically incapable of stopping the fourth stage barreling towards them at nearly Mach twelve.

On impact, the explosion of the monstrous 5950 kg proved large enough to sink such ships with a single impact; literally ripping the deck apart and puncturing the hull below and above water, after which the ship would quickly slide into the frigid Baltic, flames roaring from the remnants of the deck area surrounding the place of impact.

Next, the remaining missiles would be spread amongst the smaller battleships, carriers, and various refueling and repair ships, which would stand no chance of survival; an impact would literally rip said ships in half.

Such strikes should effectively remove the Kroando naval forces from providing a realistic threat to any powerful naval force.

"Sir... something in over IR... appears to be missiles... heading out of Dartia.", a pimple faced Lieutenant shouted out as the well dressed Admiral strolled into the cabin. "Dartia? What the hell are they doing firing at us?", responded the man, quite befuddled. "Errrr... intelligence reports have Willi... Willynik... Willink deploying forces into the country. Apperantly Dartia is no longer honoring their allegiance to the NEA.", responded the officer, a look of intense fear upon his face. "Should I order interceptors deployed sir?", he continued, obviously quite worried. "No... no, they'll never make it here son.", responded the Admiral, sipping on his strong Russian coffee. "Errrr... why not sir?", questioned the Lieutenant. "Are you bloody mad? Its Dartia is tens of thousands of miles away! The Soviets alone are thousands of miles wide! Hell, it's five thousand miles from our fleet to the northern coast of WSP! Let the missiles crash in Germany... I dont give a shit. Maybe we can drag some allies into this war." The Lieutenant scratched his head in confusion. "Why'd they fire then?" Admiral Belcon gave a quick chuckle before responding, "They're idiots?"

I would say that defences were put on alert... but it would be senseless.

[Nova Europa is not the size of RL Europe. WSP RP's as if his nation (Germany) is six times the size of RL Russia, so with a range of 4,200 miles, they're going to crash somewhere in the middle of Bavaria. And my fleet is horribly devoid of 'Capital Vessels'... I dont like them, and there are very few in my arsenal.]

About thirty-thousand feet above the ocean’s surface, the aerial formation had been circling for nearly twenty minutes while the entirety of the aircraft force was being refueled, several miles behind, via several dozen KC-214Ds and KC-380s, both series of aircraft launched from in-region specialized carrier task forces and expeditionary fleets. The force was comprised almost entirely out of bomber aircraft. A relative fleet of some one-hundred and twenty SB-22 Sariel stealth strategic bombers provided the vanguard of the force and would fly in a dispersed yet tight enough formation as to envelop and hide the remainder of the force from most forms of detection. Circling behind them was an even larger force of Omzian-produced OMASC B-101Ds, B-108s, and B-110s. Several hundred of the heavy strategic bombers loaded with varying munitions, all of which shared a single, common target: Kroando. A specially fitted group of F/S-63K Tengriy air superiority fighters kept watch over the formation, and would accompany it closer before turning back, being replaced by a fresh group courtesy of a carrier force. Regardless of their intentions or targets, the final aircraft was receiving the last ounces of a tightly-regulated aerial refueling which provided the fuel required for the last leg of their journey to Kroando.

A gentle mist of fuel and crystallizing water vapor signaled the disengaging of the last in-air refueling. The boom’s control surfaces angled themselves to steer the boom up and away from the banking B-110 as it prepared itself to join the remainder of the force, just now beginning to return to formation. A beeping tone and a crackle signaled one of the few allowed radio transmissions: “Gusin Pyat’ tanker mission complete.” The simple transmission would be the last active radio transmission allowed, save for emergencies or during their attack runs, and served twin roles. The five word broadcast finished the tanking mission and started the final leg of another. However, before their final target, they had to make one more rendezvous.

With the tanker mission complete, the formation corrected their course for a previously determined waypoint which would rendezvous two distinct forces, one from the Armed Republic, and the second from the Federative Sikh Republic of Space Union. Barring any form of emergency, the two forces should rendezvous flawlessly, merging into a single unified force hidden behind a shield of stealth strike bombers as they make their way towards their common goal, still thousands of miles distant.
Space Union

The gigantic armada of bombers descended into formation as they neared the intended point. The Federative Sikh Republic of Space Union had entered the war on Kroando after a call of help had come from an ally and the Associated Air Force Organization (AAFO) had been mobilized. Being a member of the AAFO had made it nessessary for the Republic to come and mobilize its gigantic air force for a strike. For weeks, the Space Union military officials had been in talks with the Armed Republic of Soviet Bloc on a joint strike on Kroando. It had been one of the most secret talks for one of the biggest operation in both nation's histories. The ultimate goal: complete annihilation of Kroando's ability to fight.

The bomber force was gigantic to speak of the least. It was compromised of all the types available in the Space Union Air Force. The Space Union Air Force (SUAF) was proud to be the most valued and funded branch of the Space Union military and always the first persons to react in a crisis. Most of the times, this was usually a small mobilization of its gigantic strategic bomber fleet, the largest in the world. Indeed, the nation sacraficed much of its military for its prided air force. Its army had only 3 million combat troops at any time while other nations could deploy over 6 million to just one theater. Its navy was very small with only a little more than 2,000 ships in its arsenal, including logistic vessals. But the sacrafice resulted in a gigantic air force, one of the biggest in the world.

The fleet of bombers was the biggest ever mobilised by the Space Union Air Force. It was called up to deal with the threat of Kroando. 3,000 SuB-4 Super Hurricane Heavy Supersonic Strategic Bombers, 1,200 SuB-5 Sonic Mach 4+ Bombers, and 1,000 SuB-7 Vengeance Stealth Bombers. These were escorted by 1,500 SuF/A-6 Wraiths Air Dominance Fighters, the most advanced air superiority fighters in the Space Union Air Force. The weeks of planning was about to come to fruit at last. Blood was about to be shed in the crisp, barren skies over Kroando.

Geographic Defenses

Kroando is frequently covered in massive blizzards (which alone skew most targeting equipment), but when considering the horridly maffic and acidic quality of the nations clouds and enviroment, hoping that a laser guided bomb would be able to make it from 20,000 feet to target was... less that optimistic. Of course one could attempt to plan around the Bilzzards, however due to their erratic nature, they could pick up as promptly as they dropped off. They could move north as quickly as south. There was never a minute in which some of the country was not under some sort of enviromental assault.

However this was not the primary defense. The greatest strength of Kroando was it's isolation. Tens of thousands of thousands of miles away from any true enemy, bombing runs would have to take off from one of two places. An aircraft carrier, or a nieghboring nation in Nova Europa. There was just no way to make a ten thousand mile flight... and back again. However none in Kroando truly felt this to be sufficient... after all, Spizania and Clandonia were currently fighting in the north.

Targets were also scarce in Kroando. Aside from military installations across the country, the majority of 'civilization' was centered around mega-cities, which were extremely well defended. As most of the country was barren, the regions that were not, were densely populated. There were few targets in the far north, increasing the danger in launching strikes deeper into the country.

[Willink, im not really sure what the first part of your post said. Are you landing behind Spizania's troops? Velkya has no forces in my nation, and certainly none behind my troops. Dropping men into the middle of my country would be suicide... not because I would kill them... but because there is no food... and no shelter... and they would freeze/starve to death. That is unless you were landing with Spizania, in which case you would be fine. But Velkya still has nothing in my nation.]

Air Defences

The Kroandan Airforce, though nothing compared to the massive land forces of the nation, were nothing to laugh at. According to military doctrine, they were to serve primarily as a means to keep the enemy out of the sky, and to provide support. Not to win, nor to bring victory on their own. So it was of little suprise that Kroando possessed nearly no bombers, placing the vast majority of their funds into the production of Halcon Stealth Fighters, a durable, all around solid aircraft which had in the past, proved effective in keeping the enemy out of the sky. The entire arsenal possessed somewhere in the region of 8,100 of the aircraft... unfortunately Kroando was massive nation, and less than 1/8 of the aircraft were positioned in any given region.

However as stated, the strength was in the ground forces, the Anti-Aircraft Missile Batteries. The countless rows of G-24 Strikers carrying SDCI-2 Interceptor Missiles, just waiting for targets from any of their various detection systems, be it IR, RADAR, LADAR, target lock or relayed coordinates. There were tens of thousands, closer to a hundred thousand of these vehicles nation wide. Due to their relative cheap nature, they were mass produced... and that word, 'mass produced' still left something to be said. There were also the fixed emplacements. SAM Sites, of which there were thousands nation wide, primarily along the coasts. SAM Site Emplacements, usually placed every fifty miles or so, contained two SDCI-Missile Pods, an LACI Missile Launcher, a pair of CIWS Guns, a communication center, and various technological systems. Though not capable of thwarting serious attacks, they still were worthy of mention.

Hard times were in the future... the people knew this. They were ready to be hit. The question was, were their enemies?

[Could I have some stats/links to your respective air forces? All of my non-RL tech is covered in a link in my sig.]

"My God," Prime Minister Rene Valencia sighed, reading the latest intelligence reports from MI6. "Somebody tries to invade Kroando every damn week, its seems."
Admiral Oliver Nelson stood in front of her desk, his crisp grey uniform covered with medals. He walked with a limp, having been injured when the dreadnought IES Avatar was damaged near Blackhelm. The Principality of Ezaltia hadn't fought a war since. "What shall we do, Madame?"
Valencia sighed, picking up a packet of papers. "Deploy the fleets in a perimeter and ready the coastal batteries. If they get too close, you have my permission to blow them apart."

***

The 2nd Surface Fleet and the 1st Carrier Strike Group set sail the following day, patrolling the coasts and fjords of Ezaltia. Their orders were simple: Anything that got within 20 kilometers of the coastline would be engaged with extreme prejudice.

OOC- In case your wondering, the mission we're running is a very long distance one and relies on airborne refueling from specialized carrier-borne tankers [yes, it is Armed Republic doctrine to have such specialized forces].

Regardless and on another note, I respect your right to create your own climate [we would not have much difficulty in fighting in it as we too are subject to some of the same forces, albeit not quite as unique], however, I must ask how you can even operate your own military in such an inhospitable environment [not so much for people but for equipment]? Acidic blizzards? Not only could you not reliably fly aircraft [due to the erratic formation of said blizzards; not to mention the effects of fairly or highly acidic air on the internal components of an aircraft, let alone any skin or delicate electronics] but your own early warning and detection systems would be wrought with troubles. If you have acidic clouds, you'd have acidic rain [or snow], which would wreak havoc with sensitive electronic components and definately air defense systems. Similarly, your methods of detection and guidance would also suffer heavily, and since our aircraft would be new to the environment [and thus had less exposure to the acidic nature of the air, and less time to corrode delicate parts], we'd nearly have free-run over your country while the rest of your air forces either wilt beneath a blanket of swirling acidic snow or are blinded and deafened by the immense systems which erratically spring up around the country and render most forms of detection useless [at least those that would reliably work well against, say, a stealth aircraft]. Remember, anything that applies to us also applies to you.

And even regardless to that, since we're coming into the airspace from outside of it [and would not have to take off within it] we can essentially fly higher than any weather system in our way and drop satellite guided weapons [or even, having prior intelligence about your cities' locations, just mass carpet bomb them from high altitude; the dense nature of your cities would all but ensure we eliminate vast swaths of your population]. Similarly, at those altitudes, the acidity would be negligible [as any acidity would be tied to water vapor which would either be crystalized at that altitude or at a lower altitude in cloud formations].

Anyways, the B-series bombers we're using are actually from OMASC:

[Im afraid I was not clear enough in describing my enviroment, it is not nearly as dramatic as you think. I used the word 'acidic', however did not elaborate... the 'acid' in the atmosphere is hardly capable of damaging anything unless over a very long time span. The acid most certainly would have no visible effects on aircraft flying through the 'acidic' clouds. The only noticeable effect is that of darkened clouds, and increased problems with laser targeting. A laser guided bomb would have problems keeping it's target while moving through the cloud, as the laser would be reflected by any number of particles and gases in them. It also has minor effect on disrupting communications.

The blizzards are a problem, and I do lose aircraft to them. Which is why I avoid using aircraft in my own nation. However as would be expected, my aircraft have been designed for the enviroment, making them a bit more durable. (Not immune, but none the less). They are quite difficult to fly through, and for those flying above, to aim below. (RADAR/LADAR/IR have a bit of trouble targeting forces on the ground, guidance systems are not their average 'Target, shoot, pwnz'.)

As for ground equipment, there is a bit of trouble. Infantry are kept from freezing to death through specialized uniforms, including thermal body suites, snow uniforms, outer uniforms, their vests and large outer coats, in addition to their gas masks. Of course they are not very fast, and require rest more than the average soldier... but anything less in the enviroment, and you wont last very long. Tanks and vehicles are specialy designed for the landscape, but still, are slow and require massive logistical support.

In effect, it makes it difficult to do long range missile strikes, aerial bombing runs and to paradrop troops... there is no deadly acid falling from the sky, and cities are not buried daily... but it's not a pretty place. Anywho, just post when you get within a hundred kilometers or so, I may have something to post.]

A single, encrypted data burst had interrupted the total electromagnetic silence the bomber force had. Only emergency transmissions would be allowed in, and only to a certain point. Luckily, the transmission was received well beyond any signals intelligence asset the Kroandoans could’ve deployed. The transmission was highly encrypted, and simple at its core, but meant the bomber force would be arcing up towards the north before entering Northeast Kroandoan airspace, somewhere east of the current Spizanian incursion. There had been a change of plans, and laser inter-flight communications informed the Space Union aircraft of the intended change of procedure.

The ocean below slowly transformed to a frozen mass as they arced over the frozen ice sheets and began final mission preparations. Kroandoan airspace was still a hundred miles or more distant, but already, the first phase of the operation would begin. Their current trajectory and heading would bring them almost directly over where Spizanian and Kroandoan forces were engaged in battle, just shy, but almost directly over them. However, the majority of the force shifted their headings to take a more angled approach, providing the best coverage of potential targets across Kroando, especially their ‘megacities’ which had been pretargeted via satellite intelligence, and information from Spizanian forces. The remainder of the force, a simple group of fifty B-110s with an escorting complement of twenty F/S-63K Tengriys began ascending to a very high altitude, some fifty thousand feet while the Tengriys gained about a thousand more feet of altitude and hovered within the radar ‘shadows’ above the bombers. From this vantage point, any aircraft or ground installations below them would be nearly oblivious of the defending fighter cover until it was too late. The break-off group continued their leisurely cruise at about 0.8 Mach.

Similarly, the main bomber force also ascended altitude, shielded from the front and below by a vanguard of SB-22 stealth aircraft. The Sariels would serve as a shield to prevent Kroandoan ground-based radar systems from, hopefully, detecting the remainder of the force, all of it flying in file and formation behind the stealth aircraft. A defending complement of F/S-63Ks remained, again, in their radar shadows.

Within an hour the bombing group would reach the very fringes of Kroando’s detection/airspace range.

SIC: To Kroandan and Kroandan aligned forces.

While Naasha does not wish to become militarily involved in this war, we do feel the need to honour the NEA and assist Kroando. While our own radar and air tracking systems are of poor quality when tracking targets over the vast distances of this theatre, we would like to offer the use of northern Naasha, particularly some of the elevated terrain near the Moorington border to your nations as a radar and IR tracking station for Sovereign League aircraft and missiles headed over Nova Europa to Kroando.

As mentioned before, E.V.I.L would have to provide it's own tracking methods for the station to be effective, but it would provide Kroando with another layer of air-detection coverage of southern Nova Europa.

OOC- The comment on the ice sheet was just a device to give the impression we were higher up in the arctic, and hence, en route. I did not believe that you claimed sovereignty over the entirety of the icesheet, so in that case, no, this thread, as you had asked, was meant solely to be an approach thread as we are nearing, but not necessarily penetrating your airspace. Its your option to determine how far we've traveled since my post to your's, so you can feasibly claim to detect our aircraft, although I hope I explained enough that we're attempting to cover ourselves by using the stealth aircraft as a 'shield'. This will significantly lower your detection ranges for radar. We do not worry about infrared/thermal installations because their detection range would be so short as to be well within the reduced radar range anyways. LIDAR/LADAR also has a significantly short range, and would, possibly, be even less at our latitude near the Arctic [and our altitude] due to ice crystals in the air. So all in all, we should be able to navigate fairly close to your stations without being fully detected. With that being explained, I await your post.

[If you haven't reached the Northern Ice Sheet, I probably haven't noticed you yet. However when you do, my RADAR would be picking up the 'RCS Signatures' of your aircraft. Yes, they would be ridiculously small, the size of birds, however all objects give some radar cross section relay, regardless of their stealth properties. Due to the stealth properties I would pick up those small 'insignificant' signatures later on (as the aircraft were within 50ish miles of the installations themselves) but nevertheless, I will detail that in my IC post. I can post, or wait for SU to post first, then post once your aircraft are within 50 miles of the coast. However I still am not sure of your targets, the cities are for the most part, the same as the RL ones, but much larger. The bomber formation moved at a cruising speed of Mach 0.8 along with the rest of the bomber group. It had been hours since the Space Union Air Force group had met up with its Soviet Bloc counterparts to join up for an attack against the nation of Kroando. Kroando, a member of the EVIL alliance, was deemed a strategic enemy that was needed to be eliminated in order for the allied front to continue unscathed. In order to do this, the Association of Air Force Organization (AAFO) responded to the call of duty. An alliance between Space Union, Soviet Bloc, and Willink in a joint air force organization, it was its first time seeing action.

As the group descended into the clouds as the rest of the group gained altitude to begin the first phase of the operation. The gigantic force was being shielded by a line of stealth bombers consisting of Space Union Air Force SuB-7 Vengeance and Soviet Bloc Air Force SB-22 Sariels. These two bombers were competers on the international market but here they would be working together for the same cause. The bombers were shielding the rest of the group by using their "RCS shadow" to make the group look smaller than it really was to the radar. This trick would work until the group got very close to the radars, but by then it would be all over. But that was later on, for now Phase I was about to be commenced.

The SuB-4 Super Hurricanes who had been lurking in the "shadows" since the joining began to seperate from the rest of the group by gaining altitude and putting space between them and the others. They were now 1,500 km away from the coast of Kroando. Approximately 1,500 SuB-4 Super Hurricanes moved out, half the entire armada of Super Hurricanes. There job was different from the rest of the group, they were going to clear a path for the bombers. There weapon of choice was the Ahab. The Ahab was a joint Space Union-Isselmere missile that had been designed to be used for AShM use but the SUAF had found an equally, if not better, role for it in its use. Its job was anti-radiation. Each monster bomber, who had a payload of 270,000 kg, could carry 13 of these, 7 in the internal bays with the 6others being on the wings.

The Ahabs seperated from their mother bodies as the bombers opened up their gigantic bay doors. The missiles fell down before igniting the motors and climbing to over 100 km into the Thermosphere, putting it out of the range of long-ranged anti-ballastic missile defenses and above the range of long-ranged SAM systems. They would move through this region till they entered their ejector phase. In this point, the post-boost vehicle (PBV) seperated and out came four warheads armed with 40 kg of explosives in them. They would race for the rest of the distance at over Mach 14 and steadly descending into a 90 degree dive. The fact that they were going so fast and coming at such a steep dive to the point that the crosssection was nearly invisible, they would be almost be impossible to destroy. Even if they were directly hit, their shrapenal would still cause some damage. This was the reason why they were employed against air defense systems. The blazing fast, almost-impossible to intercept warheads would annihilate the air defenses without the enemy even knowing or being able to stop it. Even underground facilities weren't safe, with the warheads speed allowing them to penetrate even the toughest defenses (they were designed to get through super-capital armor). There were a total of 19,500 Ahabs were launched with 78,000 warheads heading straight to Kroando's air defense sites. With the missiles out of range and altitude to intercept and with incredibally fast destructive warheads heading straight to the SAM sites, there air defense was about to feel a big punch in the face.

But the real show was about to come.

"Errrr... boss. There's something on the RADAR.", grumbled a lowly private as he pointed at some extremely small dots on the RADAR Screen. The Captain walked over, squinting through his goggles at the screen. "Birds son. Stop panicking... the Spizanians are a bunch of bafoons, nothing to worry about.", the Officer began to walk back into the lounge, but was called back. "Uh sir... there are no birds up here.", replied the grunt, staring at the confused face of the Captain. Every aircraft had an RCS Signature, every one. Regardless of how stealth like it was, a small dot would appear. Now normally those dots would be too small to even contemplate being a threat, what with their sizes being that of baby birds according to the radar. However there were no birds, there was nothing up here, so when there was anything on the screen, it raised suspicion. And what more, there were lots of these 'baby birds', flying through immpossible winds. No... there were no birds. There were planes. After quick cross references with Kroandan Scouts, it was clear, these were not friendly aircraft.

Almost instantly regional air bases scrambled Halcon Stealth Fighters, which did nothing but fly underneath the powerful weath systems above, hiding themselves from any eyes that may be watching. Several aircraft were forced to land before their patrols were up due to the harsh conditions, but this was a small price to pay to preserve their lives. Forces all across the north were notified of a possible Spizanian Air Assault, but it was not long before that was over. 78,000 warheads was what some would call 'over kill' for the few hundred installations across the far north, with scores of missiles raining down on each and every missile site, blowing them to hell. Over four thousand peronel lay dead or dying in the snow, as installations acrossed the north seemed to be no more. The exessive missile shower had knocked out every active RADAR Installation across a rather wide stretch of land in the north, but they had not been lost in vein.

Before their destruction, the coordinates, speeds, locations and statistics on foriegn forces flying in from the north had been relayed to forces on the ground. But what good would they be? Well, the active RADAR Installations were by no means the only RADAR Installations. G-24 Strikers, many of which were either armed with RADAR Devices or linked to another which was, were stationed in plenty across the north. Thousands of these mobile SAM Sites were officially, non existant, spread throughout the land simply sitting and waiting in various, often random locations. They knew the enemy was approaching, and had a rough speed to go by, so they could calculate roughly when the enemy would be arriving. When that time came, their RADAR would be flipped 'on', and the enemy aircraft, so overly-confident the enemy was no more, would look to their screens to see scores of RADAR Installations untouched by their assault... simply because they had not seen them before, and had not eliminated them in the first strike. The G-24's were only active during combat, as they were not previously in combat, their RADAR would not have been picked up, for it was not on. It was the enemy that would be in for the suprise... all they needed to was wait.

[As you're 1500km's away, ill let you post getting closer. And im not sure where you're coming in at. Near the Spizanian Battle (which would be well underway/over by the time the strike began), or are you heading towards a city?]

OOC: I just want to clarrify, I was kind of aiming for your SAM vehicles too since they were targetting all air defense sites across the area (which are stationary and mobile SAM launcher). That's why I launched 78,000 warheads at you. ;) Sorry if I wasn't clearer before (I was watching Dirty Jobs and typing this up at the same time XD ).

And on our intended location, we are working on that at the moment. It will probably be included in the next post by SB (or me).

[How would you have targeted them? Visually, if you could see through the clouds to the surface, you would be looking for a white humvee on a snow covered landscape, in which snow is constantly being blown about further obscuring direct vision. IR is no good for two reasons. One, seeing through the weather systems would be quite difficult and they are looking for a stationary humvee, covered in snow, emitting next to no heat
That and there is really no way to, through IR, distinguish a G-24, which is a humvee, and a civilian pick up (again, millions of those). LADAR... it would appear as a bump, a small hill, of which there are millions. RADAR, same problems. Since the mobile G-24's do not use their RADAR unless in combat, you could not target them using their own radio waves. Of course if im missing some other means of detection, by all means tell me and ill edit the post.]

You do realise that high-frequency radars (like the ones that I have on the satellite) coupled with enormous processing power NS nations can equip their satellites with could see through those dense clouds? The only radars that can't see through cloud cover are the old low-frequency radars that are used for the purpose of weather tracking. So I would be able to see the surface quite well and a humvee and a hill are very distinct shapes on radar. And considering why would civilian vehicles be in the middle of no where so they must be military (and even if they aren't, well they are at war, they should be in shelters not out fishing or whatever) vehicles.

[There are definitely millions of civilian vehicles driving about in the north ( the economy would hault if they were not), they, on a radar image, would appear near identicle to a G-24 (which is a humvee). Furthermore it would be immpossible to tell the difference between a G-24 (of which there are roughly 10,000) from a standard military humvee, of which there are nearly 80,000. For that matter any number of logistical vehicles could be mistaken for G-24's... your attack would be inflicting casualties, but very few of them on actual SAM vehicles. Ill edit in more casualties, but there are still going to be a large number of G-24's in the north.]

Intra-flight laser communications came to life aboard the fleet of fifty B-110s as they navigated towards the Spizanian-Kroandoan battle lines. Near-invisible pulses of laser radiation shot from aircraft to aircraft, arcing between each one as if the group was entrenched in static electricity. “Approaching Target Objective Khrebet Odno,” the first pulse transmitted the voice of the group commander, “Prime release systems and arm all warheads.” Hidden within the pulses of laser was the authorization required, and near simultaneously with the arming order the electric priming systems prepared every launch system in the group. Over nine million pounds of ordinance was now armed and prepared for war.

Also with the authorization, a change in altitude was in store, and the lumbering giants lifted themselves [and the Tengriys above] to a ceiling of 60,000 ft. An increase in throttle from their cruise speed would give them a greater launch velocity, allowing them to drop their munitions from a slightly further distance. One last thing had to be accomplished, and in order to do it, they had to interrupt their radio silence. A relatively short broadcast lifted itself from Spizania’s Ironside supercapital ship and connected with the radio data systems of the B-110s. A packet of targeting data, gleaned from the Ironside’s radar and forward strike controllers, was instantly relayed into the fire control systems of the aircraft where it was interlaced with an Armed Republic DefenseNet Theater Mapping System and a simple grid was overlaid across the Kroandoan emplacements, entrenchments, and military forces identified by the Ironside. The grid would provide nine thousand, one hundred points of impact for nine thousand, one hundred one-thousand pound bombs. The points were overlaid to ensure maximum carnage with most of the blast radiuses overlapping to a small degree. Within seconds, and using airspeed, location-in-relation-to-target, and distance calculations, the fire control system determined and prioritized the precise launch point required for each aircraft to release her warload.

It was terminal now; there would be no turning back. Only a handful of miles remained before their launch point, and the bomber pilots did not care if Kroandoan fighter aircraft or surface-to-air missile systems were going active; their escorts would take care of most of the threats. And what got through could be taken care of through the B-110’s fore and aft defensive turrets, along with electronic countermeasures. The preparation point was reached and the bomb bay doors of the fifty B-110s groaned open, fighting the cold air. Within the bomb bays were rows of matte-colored one-thousand pound bombs. The Armed Republic had slightly modified the B-110 so that it could carry a much larger amount of munitions, in order to best fulfill their maximum capacity. More bombs were fit within the interiors of each aircraft, along with the exterior wing-points and fuselage points. Overall, the fifty B-110s were laden with hundreds of bombs, and not small bombs, these were one thousand pound general purpose, satellite-guided bombs.

A chevron flashed across the helmet mounted visor of the lead bomber’s pilot, followed by a distinct chime in his ear, amid the commotion of other sensors and radar warning receivers. He had pre-authorized the automated launch system, and at the appearance of the chevron and chime, he knew the launch point had been reached and that, unbeknownst to him, a massive trail of bombs had just been left in his wake. The stream was still continuing, and now multiplying, across the fleet of bombers as they dropped their bombs in precise ‘layers’ to prevent bombs from impacting each other in the air. It would last for a handful of minutes before the last bomb was released. The bombers then banked in unison to head northeast, aiming to return to free space to be refueled. Of course, they now had to deal with what the Kroandoans were throwing against them. Any of their fighters would be sorely surprised when the several dozen F/S-63K Tengriys descended from above and either fired from beyond visual range at the incoming aircraft, or engaged in close-in maneuvers.

Regardless of the bombers’ and their escorts’ outcomes, the bombs had been dropped. And along with that, the death notices for an uncountable amount of Kroandoans had been signed. Over nine thousand bombs entered their terminal arc and penetrated the dense cloud cover, their guidance packages steering them amidst their brethren towards their indicated point of impact, Kroando's defensive lines…

Meanwhile…

The rest of the bomber group, further to the south, were preparing to pass over the recently annihilated defense line where they would begin splitting and heading for separate targets, specified by satellite, most of which were Kroando’s megacities, and any other major military-related location.

OOC- Sorry, nothing special, I lack all forms of initiative at the moment.

[Spizania seems to have been putting our battle on pause until you bombed me... since that battle began long before your planes ever took off, that battle would have concluded before this attack. As soon as I get Spizania to finish that battle, I will post my response/enormous casualties.]

OOC: Not really considering you guys were at a stalemate at that point. He and Clandonia wanted to hold you guys off till we came in and bombed.

According to what he said, he was getting ready to move forward, he wasn't actually moving forward. That was Clandonia that moved forward.

OOC- Either way, this was meant to intersect/overlap with that RP so that our bombing campaign could also make an impact in Spiz's operations. Hence they held off from continuing their advance so that we could eliminate a bulk of your forces to provide them with an easier path. Besides, time in RP is extremely fluid and arbitrary and this bombing operation was planned some time ago.
