Summary Vetaka over Time:
The Dominion of Vetaka was formed on the 25th December 2005 after it was granted independence from Great Britian. Soon after the Dominion was granted independence the nation descended into Civil War between those that supported the old British Governor-General Swan II whom ran for president and those that supported the new independence movement elections never actually took place. The war cost some 5 Million people their lives and saw the use of Chemical Weapons.
The Civil War officially ended on the 1st January 2007 after Commander Daniel Gary Pearce of the Vetakan National Army (VNA) secured the surrender of the Governor Forces in the presidential Palace in the Vetakan Capital of Theeb. Cmd Pearce assumed control of the nation and made himself
President of the Dominion of Vetaka and Commander in Chief of the Vetakan Military.
Geography:
The Dominion of Vetaka is located isolated within the Pacific Ocean it is one of the most isolated nations in the world. The Dominion is made up of
a total of 10 islands currently 5 are occupied, 3 are hospitable but currently un-occupied and 2 are inhospitable and are off limits to all due to active
Volcanoes. The main island is known as Theeb Island after its largest city. Theeb is the capital of Vetaka and is located on its northern coast it also lays
at the bottom of the Rogers Mountain Range.
Politics and People:
Currently the United Nations classes Vetaka as a Corporate Police State and is a Dictatorship under President Pearce. Their is no normal Government at this time. However President Pearce confirmed that he will be introducing Democracy and forming a parliament at some point in the Next 10 Years. A recent survey found that 98% of the population are not ready for Democracy, 97% support and approve of President Pearce and 90% would be willing to accept President Pearce as Vetaka's permanent leader. Vetaka's standard of living is slowly and steadily getting better over time and the overall population understand that their is no quick solution to Vetaka and the wounds of Civil War will heal over time.
Military:
At the moment the Vetakan Military is made up of an Army and Navy with little in the way of Air Power. The Military emerged from the Civil War split with bitter divides. It is also under funded, under manned and its weapons and equipment are out of date. Cmd Pearce confirmed the Military was now going to go through a Re-structure, Re-Organization and modernization. The first move involved formation of the Vetakan Defence Force (VDF). VDF would comprise of The Army, The Navy, A Newly Formed Air Force, Security and Intelligence Service (SIS), Coast Guard and the Domestic Emergency Services. All of these would commanded by an overall Operational Commander. However each individual force would maintain a Chief of Staff. The advantages of this structure meant that in times of Emergency an effective chain of command can be maintained. With an Chief Operational Commander directly under the President and a Council of Staff formed from each service. The Following will make up the Vetakan Defence Force each with their overall Commanders.

The above list not only documents the list of forces that make up the VDF but also the Presidential Poltical Council and consequently Vetaka’s Chain of Command. Due to the fact that at the moment Vetaka has no "normal" government or that the President has no Cabinet or Council. President Pearce confirmed the Council of the VDF would also act as the president’s provisional cabinet. The Vetakan Government recently spent a provisional 20 Billion Vetakan Credits ($17 Billion) on equipment for the military and emergency services from Elite Arms Inc. President Pearce confirmed this was the first in a serious of purchases for Vetaka.
The pride of the Vetakan Military is the Vetakan Elite Scout Unit the Scouts where an elite unit originally within the Vetakan National Army. These elite
troops are rumoured to be distant descendants of the Vetakan Tribal Indians Hundreds of years ago these troops would deeply penetrate governor
lands during the civil war. Once behind enemy lines they could provide onsite Intel, reconnaissance, assassinate key targets, sabotage enemy asserts such as logistics and communications and even stir up local opinion into rebellion. During the Vetakan Civil war such units where known to swim between islands. The main weapon of the Vetakan Scouts is the Vetakan Scout Sniper Rifle currently regarded as a National Secret for its pinpoint accuracy, distance, power, lightweight, versatility, optional extras and ammunition capacity their is believed a total of 250 are currently in existence within the unit. The unit's details are classified its unknown where the unit is based, how many make up the unit, its commander or recent combat history. What is known is that the unit is one the most effective scout and sniper units in the world. The units recruitment is believed to be on an invitation only basis just for training. With eventual training similar to that of the British SAS with no guarantee of acceptance on completion.
History:
Vetaka was first discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1500 while sailing around the world he didn't land on the islands but instead noted its location
and sailed on for Spain As he passed he reports his ship was flown over by a beautiful majestic bird white that sang like an angel that raised Columbus
sprits. The British where later led to Vetaka after hearing stories of Large Natural Resources and a Huge White Bird that sang like an angel and Colonized it exactly 100 years later. Soon after landing they founded Modern Vetaka’s Capital City of Theeb eventually constructing the current presidential palace and port. The British occupied 2 of the 10 islands. Vetaka was inhabited by a tribal group of natives known as the Phoenix Tribe these people welcomed the British with open arms. However the British Persecuted them and massacred some 400 some 200 of which where murdered in the Kings Incident in 1634 which saw the Royal Vetaka Regiment publicly massacre 200 Vetakans whom where protesting against British colonization the protest was peaceful and it only turned bloody when Governor-General Swan ordered the protest be halted by lethal means if need be the British opened fire killing men, women and children.
The British officially announced its colonization of Vetaka in 1658 and officially named it the Great British Empire Dominion of Vetaka and formally entrusted it to the British Governor-General and the Royal British Vetaka Regiment and regularly deployed a British Battleship to Vetaka. From the years 1660 and 2000 Vetaka remained under British Rule and was relatively quiet with the exception of the Two World Wars however besides that
with the occasional political comment or crime committed in name of Vetakan Independence Vetaka was quiet.
During the First World War Vetaka didn't see any fighting but did send troops to the various fronts. Recent studies confirm that some 750 Vetakans fought in the war for the British Crown. 500 of which died, 200 where wounded, 45 returned to Vetaka unharmed and 5 are missing and have been pronounced legally dead. During the Second World War Vetaka was regularly visited by Allied Naval Ships and it’s even speculated that the Vetkan Police Force actually warned the US Naval Command of an large advancing Japanese Fleet in the days before Pearl Harbour. The truth of which has never been confirmed by either the Vetakan Police Force or the US State Department. During the Second World War Japan largely ignored Vetaka as a target a decision now seen to be a massive tactical mistake.
After the Intervention of the United States in World War Two the US used Vetaka and Theeb airport and harbour as a Forward Operating Base for American operations, a stop over point for American Ships and eventually a Strike Base for the American Counter Attack. After the war and its horrors Vetaka and its people emerged from the war changed and full of fire of rebellion and resistance during the cold war and through to the 90's Vetaka and its people campaigned for Independence at first Peacefully but eventually this turned to Violence in the form of the Vetakan National Army firstly under the Command of General Peter Downs and secondly and most achivelingly Vetaka achieved independence and peace under 17 year old Commander Daniel Gary Pearce. Not only did Pearce acquire independence for Vetaka he also ended the Civil War and formed the modern day Vetaka that exists today. For many he is seen as the national hero.
The Vetakan Civil War From 01/01/2006 to 01/01/2007:
After the British Government granted Vetaka independence on the 25th December 2005 it wasn't long before divides began to appear between those that supported the new Pearce Independence Nation under the Vetkan National Army and the Old-British Style Regime under the Governor-General Swan II movement. The war officially broke out when Governor Supporters attacked and killed a VNA Negotiation Unit on the 1/1/2006 the attack trigged retaliation that broke down into all out Civil War between the two forces.
The war lasted some 12 months and saw the total destruction of Vetaka and the death of some 5 million people practically halving the population. The war saw use of conventional weapons as well as tanks, planes, helicopters, Ships, biological and chemical weapons. The conflict destroyed Vetakan assets as well as economy. Each side accused the other of genocide and pointless civilian killing. President Pearce confirmed that a full-scale public inquiry to document the war would begin within 5 years.
What is known is that the war ended after Cmd Pearce of the VNA launched a last counter-offensive the attack consisted of everything the VNA had and began on the 1st December 2005 the operation was code named "Operation Normandy" the attack by some is seen as desperation by other's it is seen as pure tactical brilliance what is generally accepted is that Governor Forces where caught surprised and where unable to mount any successful counter. What is also generally accepted is the brilliant use by Pearce of Unconventional Guerrilla Warfare. The VNA sabotaged Governor communications and sent fake orders in the initial opening stages of the attack. The VNA also used Deep Penetration Tactical Strikes by daring guerrilla units to attack troop encampments, air fields, supply bases and convoys.
Operation Normandy was highly successful and by the 25th December 2006 the VNA where on the door step of Theeb on the 26th December after heavy fighting the VNA had secured large parts of the city. By now the Governor had only 750-1,000 troops left these where located in and around the Presidential Palace. It took the VNA until the 1st January 2007 to take the palace and at 13:00 the Governor officially surrendered to Cmd Pearce effectively and officially ending the war.
On 2nd January 2007 Cmd Pearce made a moving speech live on state media, radio and the emergency broadcast system this speech is now known as the
1st Presidential Address of which is expected to become annually. On the 2nd January 2007 Cmd Pearce made himself provisional president and outlined his plans for Vetaka over the next 10 years.
The Future for Vetaka:
At the moment Vetaka is a Military Dictatorship under President Pearce how the President confirmed Democracy and Freedom of Speech would be steadily
introduced over time. Vetaka's military and emergency services are to be brought up to strength which will provisionally be totally defence co-ordinate
once the VDF is up to strength the nation will turn its attention to providing suitable welfare and way of life for its people. President Pearce has expressed his desire to form Relationships and Alliances with other nations and groups.
