A single Marathon Class Cruiser exited Slipspace into Earths Outer Orbit. The crew was scheduled for Shore Leave beginning the next day.

“Ah Earth…I haven’t seen it in years.” Captain Mitchell looked at the view screen displaying the planet.

“Uh…sir I’m getting readings all over the planet.”

“That must be the Orbital Defense Grid.”

“The what?”

“Back when I last came here is was all just talk and Theories. But now 300 Orbital Defense Stations in Geo-synchronous Orbit surround and protect the Earth, one of those MAC rounds could punch a hole through any enemy ship.”

“Wow sir, So were pretty well defended right?”

“You bet your ass we are, Those Orbital Defense Stations, combined with the two 35 Ship Navies On either Pole, nothing is going to harm our Earth.”

The Cruiser glided to The Orbital Defense Station Cairo. “ODS-029 This is the Leviathan, Proceeding with Docking Maneuvers.”

“LeviathanThis is ODS-029 continue on course and dock in 200 Seconds.”

The Leviathan docked with Cairo Station and begun to offload Crew. Everyone was glad that they were receiving a two week leave, and they couldn’t wait to be planet side.

The surface….

Lidar and heat sensors picked up the incoming drop pods, first classified as incoming meteors until over 100 were picked up. Alarms were rung all over the planet, Marines awoke from barracks, confusing was settled within minutes, the people of Yukatania have been under this kind of threat before….but this time they would be more prepared.

A fourth of the pods landed before Anti-Aircraft Batteries opened up to the sky, 50mm High Explosive shells and 102mm HE Missiles screamed up into the sky to give the Sephrioths a surprise.

After breaking the atmosphere the pods were tracked by the intensive Radar/Lidar grid over Earth.

Orbit…

“Get me a NAV point on the origin of those Pods. NOW!”

“Yes sir!”

It took extensive looking, but after finding a minuet cross-section blip, they had a target. With luck the ship would still be there and they could send these bastards to hell.

Commander Eintower jumped up on the Comm.net and sent a Message on YMF E-Band.
“This is Commander Eintower, all ships within the Sol System return to Earth ASAP, we are under attack.”

The Reinforcements would be nice, but Eintower had full confidence in his Sailors abilities.

The NAV point attached to the Doombringer was filtered to every YSN Ship in Earths orbit. All 70 ships converged on the Doombringer…Archer Missile Pods warmed up, MAC Cannons were charging. Once Ships reached maximum range, all hell would open up.

Slowly the 30 Orbital Defense Stations oriented themselves to bring their MAC Cannons to face the Doombringer. Loud wines could be heard throughout the stations as their Capacitors charged, and the stations shook as the 3000 Ton projectiles left. The 30 projectiles screamed at the Doombringer at 10% the speed of light.
