January 19th, -

In spite of the recent troubles in the Alberian Province, and the recent spitting contests that have involved the Imperial Foreign Office, the allies of the Imperium, and certain foreign alliances, there is a joyful note in the air following the announcement by Lord Varus Tiberius Alexei, the Emperor’s close advisor and mentor, that His Infinite Majesty The Emperor Kazatmiru will in one month’s time wed Aleksandra Stekov, daughter of the late High Admiral Georg Stekov.

It is rumored that Kazatmiru, having been introduced to the woman several years ago by her father, has been involved with her on and off ever since. There has, of course, been little mention of the other women known to frequent the Imperial palace on a regular basis at the invitation of the Emperor, or what will become of them (many have already been offered and accepted permanent homes in the various Imperial palaces on behalf of the Emperor) after the marriage.

Aleksandra, now 20 years of age to the Emperor’s 33, is the product of a strict upbringing in a martial family. Her father served with distinction against the Yaforite navy in the Inkanan Channel during the war, and rose to replace old Admiral Czekov as High Admiral of the Imperial Generian Navy upon that man’s death six years ago. Admiral Stekov died this past June as a result of heart and lung diseases. The soon to be Empress was his second daughter, and little is known about her personally, as is the case with most women close to the Imperial government and the Alexian royal family.

It has been said that the ceremony itself, while sure to display the extravagance typical of Alexian celebration, will be closed to the public, and take place among family and a few foreign dignitaries. Members of the Doomani Royal Family is rumored to be on the guest list, as are certain members of the Praetonian and Questarian Royal families, who have recently become distant cousins of the Alexians by marrying into Emperor Maximus of Doomingsland’s family.

This will not hamper the celebrations sure to take place throughout the Empire, however, in the month preceding and on the day of the wedding itself.
