Emperor Paulus Whyatica Announces Destruction of Nova Britannica [Open MT]

Imperial Palace, Miana, Whyatica
Emperor Paulus Whyatica, a man of merely nineteen years of age, accompanied by his wife, Empress Rosemary of Questaria, walked out of the Imperial Palace, standing on a step with a podium with probably thirty different microphones on it. Below him was a throng of reporters from many allied nations, and behind them were thousands of civilians waiting to hear the latest news from the Imperial Palace.

"Today," the Emperor began, "Today was a day of reckoning for our foes, as the former nation of Nova Brittanica was annihilated in a nuclear frenzy. After launching thousands of missiles at us and our allies, our brothers in arms, we responded in kind, with enough firepower to destroy a nation many times the size of them. Approximately three hundred million Nova Brittanicans died. These deaths are a shame, a tragedy on Earth - They did not have to die, if the government of Nova Brittanica had not made the foolish decision to attempt to kill everyone in Whyatica, in Steel and Fire, in Clandonia Prime, in Praetonia, in Velkya, in Franberry, in No endorse, in Cravan, and in The Silver Sky. Our allies show the best of humanity - our brothers, and our men up in space saved billions of lives today, and we are forever indebted to our brothers-in-arms for their loyalty to the Sovereign League, to our alliance. The top scientists of Whyatica have estimated that, if the cowardly Brittanic attack had hit, one billion Whyaticans would have been killed instantly, no telling how many more would have died from radiation. Every single person in the Imperial courtyard today owes a debt that can never be repaid, myself included, to the brave Whyatican military, to the Steelians, to the Velkyans, to the Clandonians, to the Velkyans, to the Franberrians, to the Endorsians, to the Skyians, to every single member of the Sovereign League. Let today be remembered as a day of mourning for the dead civilians of Nova Brittanica, and a day celebrating life - the continued lives of billions of Sovereign League citizens."

The Emperor took a breather, and continued,

"I will now take questions from the press." He had been immacuately prepared for this moment by the Whyatican High Command and other people who knew intimate details about the near-fatal nuclear attack, and was prepared to answer any questions.

OOC:If you aren't hostile to my nation or the Sovereign League, you can have a reporter here.

And so a thank you note was enroute to Whyatica...

A young woman called for the attention of the Emperor. Atop her head rode a hat with 'Caranda News Network' emblazoned on the band. As the floor was given to her, she whipped out a notebook and pen, and called out across the noisy room.

"Just a few questions your highness. Do you have a public statement on the crisis in No Endorse? Has the No Endorse government contacted you about relief efforts? And lastly, do you have any concrete estimates for casualties in British Londinium?"

"The Imperial government has already cleared for the shipping thousands of tonnes of food, prefabricated buildings, NBC suits, radiation-clearing gear, anti-rad medicines, and other aide for the No endorse government. Millions have been displaced in your nation, miss, and the Imperial government will do whatever it can to help your people. A total death count in British Londinium has not been tabulated yet." the Emperor said, giving his best diplomatic smile.

A man wearing a hat with the phrase "Carver Media Group" emblazoned on it also called for the emperor's attention.

"Your Majesty, some quick questions: When are Coalition forces intending to withdraw from Eurasia? Why did Imperial Whyatica find it necessary to retaliate in such an extreme fashion? Finally, will there be rebuilding efforts in Nova Britannica?"
Whyatica
03-01-2007, 02:08
The Emperor gave a little bit of a knowing smirk.

"What is there to rebuild, sir? Radiation has made the area uninhabitable for generations. Imperial Whyatica has a well-known weapons of mass destruction policy, and that is that of mutually assured destruction. Any weapon of mass destruction used on Imperial Whyatica or her allies will result in total devastation - that policy has kept us safe thus far, and will likely continue to keep us safe in the time to come." he said, deftly avoiding the question about withdrawing from Eurasia.

A reporter for the New Roskan Times decided to ask a very important questions.

"Lord Emperor." He started. "You do realize that you may have well obliterated thousands of foreign ambassadors with that nuclear strike. What is your opinion on this?"

Then, another Rosian reporter appeared. "Excuse me Emperor how does it feel being ugly as hell?"

Oh, snap.

A female reporter, wearing a blue and white arm band that read 'Skyian International News Network', raised her hand and attracted the emperors attention, she cleared her throught and asked her question.

"Do you have any solid numbers for the Coalition's casualites? Sources from the Skyian Government report about 10 Skyian pilots KIA, with 16 wounded."

"Also, we have been getting reports about the rebellion dying down, is this true? And if so, what is the next course of action?"

"Is it also true that your government gave a contract to Hostile Takeover Inc., which included land bonuses and a 15 billion a month payments?"

"And lastly, do you have anything to say about the great effectiveness of the Coalition's anti-ballistic missile defences?"

As the room descended into chaos after the Rosanican's remark, the No Endorse reporter shouted across the room. She had hardly finished writing down the Emperor's answer to the Londinium reporter when she began to yell, hoping to be heard over the din.

"Your Honor, recently the No Endorse government called for a war on all of British Londinium's previous allies, including the alliance known as E.V.I.L. What is your take on the situation, and will you be aiding them in their fight?"

The volume in the room steadily increased, nearly drowning her out. Fortunately, she had a very projecting voice.

"How does it feel to know that in Doomingsland, for example, you would be executed for that remark?" the Emperor said at the second Rosian reporter.

"Anyway, I apologize officially to the families of any foreign ambassador who may have been in Nova Brittanica during the attack, and reparations may be offered from the Imperial coffers."

To the Skyian reporter:
The Emperor smiled, softball questions were his favourite.

"The Whyatican casualties have been estimated at approximately two hundred dead and three hundred wounded. Every man wounded in action in Eurasia has been commended, as well as every man who died has been given a posthumous commendation. I have little information on Coalition casualties, although the last report from British Londinum has reported few Skyian casualties. The rebellion has died down in Kensington - Other than an isolated pocket of resistance, there have been no other uprisings. And I will confirm that we gave a contract to Hostile Takeover for mercenary service in Eurasia, but I will not disclose anything else."

He looked over at the Endorsian reporter, and said,
"We will stand by our brothers of your country at any time of need, miss. The military is preparing, and that's all I'll say on that matter."

The second reporter's eyes widened. He looked to his left, then his right. He paused. "AH SUCK YO MAMA NIGGA."

He took what looked like a bowie knife and waved it around, how he managed to get a knife out here, don't ask. He looked at the Emperor. "I HAD SEX WITH YO FARMHOSE NIGGA." He then stabbed himself in the heart and commenced to bleed profusely, and die.

The author does not support that you do this in real life.

The first reporter meanwhile, undeterred, asked another question. "So you're not scared that a coalition of said nations won't assemble and invade the nation of Whyatica?"

Southern Joint Aerospace Defense Command, Velkyan-Whyatica Border

The sounds of celebration and laughter rang through the alert station of the huge underground SJADC control room. Velkyan, Whyatican, Space Union and Skyian soldiers, who only an hour before sweated under the strain of their job, cheered and drank themselves to shit. Just a while before, they had watched tensely as they watching interceptors collide with Britannican ICBM, flashing bright on the infrared before fading into the darkness of the void like some twisted game of Missile Command. Now, fortunately, the battle had passed, and the young men had come out victorious.

And boy, did they know that. The talking and laughter echoed through the concrete room against the backdrop of cracking champagne corks and songs about freedom and liberty. However, a single voice halted these shenanigans.

"Hey, the Emporer's on the line!"

The gang of roughly one hundred enlisted men and officers began to gradually hush their revelry, as the primary screen broadcasted Paulus' message to the world. They drank in every word, the reinforcement stretching their ego to unimaginable heights. They were the saviors of civilization, the guardians of freedom. They had defended their homeland while sending smoking hot retribution down to those who had threatened it. The celebration lasted for almost an hour, before officers, deciding any distraction to the task at hand (safeguarding the skies of Velkya and Whyatica) was an unnecessary risk. It was then that the Velkyan broadcast was patched through.

Official Statement of the President of the Allied Union of Velkya

"Good evening, comrades both in Velkya around the globe.

Last night, the world witnessed one of its worst fears, that of atomic conflict. Ever since the defunct United States devastated the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, this specter has loomed over the globe, unleashing its fury where it chooses. Last night, this fury was unleashed in full force. The tyrannical leaders Nova Britannica launched a salvo of over seventeen thousand nuclear warheads against allies and protectorates of the Allied Union. This strike, intended to destroy our comrades and strike a blow to civilization itself, was parried by the heroic efforts of the Havenic Aerospace Defense Command, whose coordination and skill prevented this catastrophe from annihilating all we hold dear. However, this did not come without a price. Within minutes of the interception of the Nova Britannican attack, a nuclear counterattack totaling over ninety three gigatons of explosive force struck mainland Britannica, incinerating its entire population of over three hundred million souls.

This price does not come easily to me, nor did it come easily to the defenders. Five major allied cities are blazing infernos, and many millions are assumed dead. As we come to terms with this enormous and tragic loss of life, we must look to the future. Though our friends may be gone, our hearts shattered, we must go on. May we never forget that liberty is never to be taken for granted, and that Freedom is not, nor will it ever will be, free.

Good night, and may Liberty shine her light upon you all. "

When I was told of the imminent nuclear strike, my secret servicemen moved me into the bunker and the police tried moving as many citizens as possible into their bunkers, but I..I was afraid. Afraid for the billions of lives that could have been lost. Myself? No. I was afraid for the billions of lives at stake in Whyatica, Praetonia, Velkya, and every other nation under attack. My heart went out to the millions of Endorsian dead when my secret servicemen reported the attack to them. Does that answer your question?"

The image of the Imperial Crest appeared on television screens worldwide, soon after replaced with an image of the Emperor of the Libertarian Empire in his office in Cravna, in reality a mockup of his office in the underground bunker, merely to soothe the minds of the people and calm them. An older man, he looked fatigued... Weary... And he just downright looked disgusted. He began to speak, words rolling off his tongue as he spoke without any prepared speech. Just how he felt about the incident thusfar.

Decree from the Imperial House of Craven
Televised on the Imperial News Network and Affiliates

"Ten million.", he began. "Ten million Cravanian souls snuffed out in an instant today by the barbarians of Nova Brittanica, who were too cowardly to stand and fight for their allies, instead targetting the innocent civilians of nations of the coalition. One single warhead managed to punch through our defense network, striking Richtor at rush hour. Although the cost of this event in lives was unacceptably high, Divine Shield did its job in intercepting the several thousand other warheads which were on their way to destroy our way of life.

"I am deeply saddened by this act of aggression. Appalled by the number of civilians worldwide who perished in these attacks. And I am outraged at how Nova Brittanica was not even provoked in its nuclear assault. Over three-hundred million civilians died in Nova Brittanica, a fraction of those killed here at home and in our allies' abroad. But no matter the nationality, it is a tragedy. A great tragedy.

"Although I am sure that you are all as outraged at the loss of Cravanian life as I am, if not moreso, we must not lose sight of our objective: The preservation of peace in the area of British Londinium, and the destruction of threats from the EVIL alliance which may continue to harm our people. Many innocents died on this day. And many more will if we do not manage to destroy all threats to ourselves and our allies in arms.

"As a result, I do hereby declare that the Libertarian Empire is to enter a state of full military readiness for an undeclared period of time from this point on. Martial law is to be declared in the area surrounding Richtor to maintain the safety and security of the survivors, and already aid from our allies is pouring in. Life will proceed as normal, and your liberties will not be infringed upon. However, bomb shelters around the major population centers of our great nation are being activated in the event of another strike, and our reserves are being called to arms to defend the homeland. In addition, strategic forces will remain on alert until further notice, and our arsenal will serve as a deterrent for future attacks.

"I do hope that, in due time, our nation will be completely safe again. I know you may be fearful. I know you may be saddened. I know you may be enraged. But also know this: You are not the only one with these feelings. Use these feelings to better help Cravan in recovering from this tragedy, and preventing it from happening again. Contribute something positive to your nation, and I do promise you it will return this favor with the liberties and securities which it grants to all citizens.

"I am afraid that further issues require my attention if we are to continue on as a nation, and I must close my address now. Know this, however: My condolances go out to all those lost, whether they be Cravanian, No Endorsian, Clandonian, or even Nova Brittanican. No matter the nationality, race, religion, or creed, you will all be remembered by the Libertarian Empire. From this day forward, January second will be known as Honor Day, and we shall never forget what tragedies happened on this day.

"Thank you, all, and have a pleasant afternoon here in Cravan. For the rest of you in the world, may you remain safe and free, and may life and liberty flow through your veins. Peace be with you all."

The television screen slowly faded to black, replaced with the anchor who was covering the story in their respective region of the world. As was apparent, the people of Cravan were enraged at the loss of allied civilian life. And the Cravanian government knew this would be a helpful victory in the propoganda department as patriotism rose to all time highs.

“If I may, Emperor,” a brown-haired man shouted, his fine charcoal suit stark in contrast to the mess that was that brown hair. “Henry Kirkson, KBC, given your statement that the, and I quote ‘obliteration of Nova Brittanica was the Right thing to do’, do either you or your government find the wholesale ‘obliteration’ of some 300 million unarmed civilians appropriate, given the stated aims of stopping the obliteration of unarmed Eurasian civilians by the deposed government of former president Swanner, an equitable end to this conflict.”

“And, Emperor,” Kirkson continued, “if that is the case, would not the remainder of the civilised world be right in deposing you and your government—and those of the participatory nations of the war coalition—for the disproportionate use of nuclear weapons to commit genocide?” Kirkson, his questions asked then took his seat and dutifully pulled out his pen to write the waited answer.

A citizen of [Nation], worker for [Nation] News Now, with a distinctly Nova Brittanican accent, asked,

"Sir, is it true that nuclear tidal waves are racing across the globe? Also, what do you have to say about the e-mail that was sent in the last minutes of Nova Brittanica to anyone with a computer, that had priceless information on it? Information detailing how to make weapons of mass destruction with home materials, how to make a roadside bomb, how to create a disease, how to cut your hair, and, well, basically everything."

"But wantonly shooting anyone and everyone in the streets, clearing a building with a tank, a building that had innocents, children, women, and the like, allowing ones troops to fire at will at a crowd probably over twelve hundred feet away? Destroying a whole city block by carpet bombing? Dear sir, I may not have been on the ground, but I have covered urban warfare before, and the leveling of a city block by carpet bombing or shooting at a crowd from over twelve hundred feet away isn't counter-insurgency, it's mass murder. Albeit the clearing of the city block, and the airport shootings were done by Clandonian forces, isn't the Clandonian government under your control?

"When the actions of Whyatican forces and Clandonian Forces are compared to those of the Cravanian and Allanean forces, who worked hard to save the lives of the Londinium Citizens, taking care to clear each building using non-lethal force, and using Area Denial systems to stop insurgents without permanently injuring them, it can hardly be seen as fighting for your life."

He looked at the Azazian reporter and said,
"You cannot tell me, Mr. Kirkson, that if a hostile nation was attempting to annihilate your civilization and your life using nuclear weapons, that you would not retaliate. I had no choice, for billions of Whyaticans would have perished if not for the retaliatory strike. Nova Brittanica had previously threatened nuclear attacks against not just Coalition members, but every citizen in former British Londinium. Our attack was just."

Paulus pretended not to hear the question from Mr. Surrey, likely of Eurasia, and looked at the Nova Brittanic man. He said, "First off, no. No nuclear tidal waves are going anywhere. The Imperial Democracy also does not restrict free speech, in any fashion."

He looked at the Illioran reporter, and said, "The Clandonian government had reproachments for it's conduct - numerous officers have been court martialed and shot, while more of their military has been put under Coalition control. The building I believe you are referencing had been seized by insurgents, everyone inside killed by them as a perverted 'revenge' for the occupation of their nation. You have never been a soldier in an urban combat situation. You would never know when a potential enemy is coming at you, you have two choices - shoot or die. I do not apologize for my soldier's conduct. Imperial soldiers attempted to preserve life as best as possible, but as the situation skyrocketed out of control, we were forced to use force to defend life. The insurrection hit the Whyatican sector harder than any other, and the most innocents were killed as a result."

"Your honor, could you give us a ballpark estimate of the total damage that could have been caused by Nova Britannica if the strike had not been undertaken? I understand they essentially emptied their silos at the Coalition, do you believe that they could have inflicted more damage if they had not been obliterated? Finally, what is the current status of infrastructure in British Londinium, and what is being done to improve the situation?"

“Again, if I may, Emperor,” Kirkson replied, standing once more the cameras cutting to his aged face. “So to be clear, and to add on to my colleague from INN, it is considered quote ‘just’ by you and your government, and presumably by your coalition allies, to conduct mass-murder, torture, and wanton, indiscriminate violence against civilian populations in order to safeguard other lives?”

“And, if that is the case, how can you and your government proclaim to be acting to defend civilisation when, as my colleague has noted, there have been far more proportionate, humane, and ultimately responsible actions taken by select members of your coalition? And with regards to Nova Brittanica can it then not be said that this was not a case to save an oppressed people but to entirely eliminate a civilisation, the quality of the Nova Brittanica government notwithstanding?”

"We had no idea if there were assets yet unused by Nova Britannica at the time of their attack - submarines, orbital assets, anything else. The damage could have been far, far worse had we not undertaken the retaliation attack. We have experimented with Area Denial systems in our sector of Kensington, but most often we found them destroyed by rifle-fired grenades or other things, they are simply too fragile for use in anti-insurrection duty. The current state of infrastructure in British Londinium is fair to good. Kensington will require some reconstruction, as well as other cities, but we are beginning those efforts immediately. The light was red and the microphone hot, Kirkson stood motionless and silent outside the Whyatican press area while the anchorwoman established the context of the press conference. In his ear, Kirkson listened to the small introduction and then heard his cue, “thank you, Erica.”

He looked straight ahead at the camera and spoke in a calm voice, even in tone and clear in articulation. “The press conference with the Whyatican head of state just wrapped up, and in it Emperor Paulus showed neither remorse nor even general sadness at the deaths of some 300 million civilians in Nova Brittanica.”

Kirkson paused as the editors and producers segued into a clip from the press conference:

The Emperor gave a little bit of a knowing smirk.

"What is there to rebuild, sir? Radiation has made the area uninhabitable for generations.

“I have to say, Erica,” Kirkson continued when the clip ended, “that it indeed seemed as if Emperor Paulus was near jubilant at the news of the death of the entire nation of Nova Brittanica.”

Another clip ran on the segment:

To the Skyian reporter:
The Emperor smiled, softball questions were his favourite.

"The Whyatican casualties have been estimated at approximately two hundred dead and three hundred wounded. Every man wounded in action in Eurasia has been commended, as well as every man who died has been given a posthumous commendation.

The clip then ended only to be followed by a subsequent clip starting with a question from a Velkyan reporter:

"Your Majestey, how has the international community at large reacted to the destruction of Nova Britannica?"
"Shock. Many nations were shocked that Britannica would involve herself in a cowardly first strike against such great nations. Others immediately offered help to nations damaged in the strike, such as Clandonia Prime, Cravan, and No Endorse."

Kirkson finally reappeared, as did the little ‘live’ symbol on the screen. “As you can see, Erica, in the Whyatican government there is nearly widespread glee at the casualty lists from the nuclear exchange. And while any government would be entirely relieved at avoiding a nuclear catastrophe, a government that entered the conflict to prevent the deaths of civilians would be expected to be more concerned with the loss of such large numbers of civilians in their retaliatory nuclear missile attacks. Indeed, when pressed on the issues of the deliberate killing of civilians through a nuclear response Emperor Paulus admitted to as disproportionate, the Emperor had little to say.” Kirkson paused again to take a break and let a clip play.

“It quickly became apparent, Erica, that such direct questions were not welcomed by Emperor Paulus as shortly after my follow up the assembled press was hurried out of the area and the Emperor escorted back into the palace.”

Kirkson paused as he listened to the anchor’s questions. “Absolutely, Erica. Emperor Paulus did indeed seem agitated and frustrated especially as his defence for the actions of the coalition, with regards to systematic Whyatican abuses of human rights—in comparison to the more tempered actions of the Cravanian and Allanean armed forces—ultimately failed to measure up.”

Kirkson smiled as he listened to the exit of the short piece with an advert for the billions of viewers to stay tuned to the KBC for a special report on the aftermath of the war.

Official Clandonian Response

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v338/madnukedude/clandoniansmallflag.png

An Open Declaration:

I speak to you today from the smoldering remains at an CPISF NBC resue team on the outskirts of New Danskeran where a single nuclear ICBM managed to get through killing over 300,000 people. Nova Brittanica is no more, I took delight watching the scenes of the Clandonian armed forces launching our assets on their nation. With regards to the ongoing fight in Eurasia, I have word that the resistance is over so the rebuilding can begin. The deaths of the Euraisan civillians is sad and I have used standard Clandonian Military Law with dealing with those that we find guilty. I have taken the liberty to recall to our of Commander Puriton Capital Submarines to deploy them off the coast of Bartonstein.

That deployment is a message to EVIL, Bartonstein is now within our target if they attack, fund, or help the insurgency then you shall meet the similar fate of Nova Brittanica only with a lot more force. I openly declare that any EVIL member state is now considered an enemy of Clandonia Prime. If those that are wise wish to leave, you will not be targetted when the days of destruction come upon EVIL I will personally lead the fight myself as a military man, I'm not scared of death.

Good night.

The grand Mall leading up to the King's Palace in Kingston was a wide, sweeping boulevard lined on either side with ancient oak trees planted hundreds of years past. Purple poles rose out of the ground beside the road, topped with crowned lanterns and hanging gloriously bright and clean flags. The street itself was thronging was people, many of whom having travelled from all around the country and some even from the colonies or foreign countries entirely.

The crowd grew steadily throughout the day, tailing back into the shopping streets which were littered with shattered glass and general urban debris from the looting that had caused the Riot Act to be read the previous day, beyond the Mall until for most of those waiting even the Palace itself was hidden from view, let alone the flags and trees and, the person they had all come really to see, the Great King himself. The King would not be seen for a few hours yet, but still His Subjects waited. At least, they thought thankfully to themselves, shivvering in the bitter winter wind, they were not in Port Mare or Tammouth, where radioactive dust blown over from No Endorse choked and poisoned the Great King's Subjects, and where soldiers were desperately assembling vast lead screens around hospitals and sports halls to protect the sick as they were cared for as well as they could be, knowing that they had no hope of evacuating even a fraction of the infirm.

The hours passed slowly. Finally, at the announced time of 5:30 PM, the bitter air was pierced by sombre strains of God Save the King, a tune normally sounding so triumphant to those who heard it. On the grand balcony jutting out from the Palace towards the Mall, a red velvet curtain was drawn back to reveal the band. As they played their last note, the King stepped forth from the Palace into the strong but dying light of day. The curtain was drawn back, hiding the band once more and leaving the King, attired in the red and gold dress uniform of a Praetonian Field Marshal, a solitary figure against the red.

"My beloved Subjects," his voice was amplified and projected through speakers to the crowds below. For those gathered in the vast Free Trade Square, unable to see the palace, a giant LCD billboard normally used for advertising relayed the King's image.

"In the early hours of yesterday morning, a terrible plot was hatched that would have seen the greater part of those assembled here today, and in that number I count Myself as one, struck down by the ravages of war from which for so long our land has been so mercifully spared. To that end, in later part of yesterday afternoon, some twenty missiles were launched by the Nova Brittanican military directed at the Crown Commonwealth, with a further number directed at the many nationalities living and serving in Eurasia and a great many more at the population centres of our Sovereign League allies and Cravan, many of whom in Haven.

"Upon the detection of this launch, My armed forces immediately set about the task of protecting you and, indeed, Myself, from this criminal attempt on our lives. In this task, they acquitted themselves in an exemplary fashion, with professionalism, daring and bravery - qualities for which they are rightly known and admired - a fact to which My ability to stand here on this balacony today and tell you about it is testament. Unfortunately, others of us were not so lucky. The people of No Endorse have suffered dearly, as have Cravan. As a result of the attacks on No Endorse, a radioactive miasma is sweeping through our own lands, adding to the deaths caused in the panic that followed the activation of our warning systems. Our thoughts and prayers are with them, as are our brave healthcare and military professionals aiding their survival through more practical action.

"In response to this cowardly and savage attack, My Government ordered that, lacking the requisite knowledge to pin-point and destroy enduring Nova Brittanican nuclear stockpiles and with fears of further Nova Brittanican attacks - fears that proved tragically justified - still hanging in the air, what is referred to as a 'saturation strike' be launched against Nova Brittanica. It is not yet possible to tell how many innocent lives this ended, but it is possible from looking out over Kingston tonight how many it had the potential to save, being but one of the hundreds of cities spared from terrified desolation at the hands of a tyrant.

"In thinking of tyranny, it is important that we not forget what evils have been carried out in its name. Across the world, and I feel sad that I am able to say tryanny exists in a great many powerful and respected sections of the world, crime is committed through the use of power that is not lawfully granted to those who wield it. Few examples of this could we worse than the massacres of innocents that occured recently in British Londinium. To those who shared the beliefs and goals of Nova Brittanica that led them to carry out their desperate assault on the free peoples of the world, I shall say this: too many of My Subjects have died serving the cause of freedom and peace in British Londinium for it to be allowed to fall. There will be no retreat and there will be no surrender to those who would see the human soul, and human life, trampled on and extinguished for no just cause.

"The bravery of My Subjects, at home, in the colonies and serving abroad, is to be commended, as is that of our allies. We must mourn the innocents who have died as a result of this battle, on both sides, but we must go on in this struggle and see it done, because only by doing so can we secure lasting peace and justice. My military chiefs inform me that the storm has been weathered, and that the insurgency that has created so much death and destruction in British Londinium has been brought to an end. One lives in hope. Irrespective of anything else that may happen in the world, we shall try our best to put this infamous chapter in history behind us, rebuild what has been destroyed and move forwards into the future.

"May God help us to make it a better place."

DEMOCRATIC SOVIET REPUBLIC OF KAHANISTAN
Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Government of Kahanistan condemns in the strongest possible terms the atrocious crimes of the Sovereign League in committing nuclear genocide against Nova Brittanica, murdering nearly all of its three hundred million men, women, and children.

This unprecedentedly monstrous act of mass murder, terror, and genocide is grossly disproportionate to the threat posed by the rogue governments of Nova Brittanica and its allies. Missile silos and bases are not difficult to target, and once the Nova Brittanican missiles were mostly shot down, it ceased to pose a threat to the international community.

We urge that the offending nations dispose completely with their weapons of mass destruction before another atrocity of this scale can ever happen again.

Signed,
Margaret Delray,
Minister of Foreign Affairs

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE CONCERNING THE RESPONSE OF NO ENDORSE IN THE NOVA BRITANNICA AFFAIR

NOTE: THIS DOCUMENT HAS BEEN CERTIFIED AS CLEAR FOR PUBLIC RELEASE AND IS PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE FOR PUBLIC EDUCATION PURPOSES. PLEASE REPORT ANY VIOLATIONS OF THIS TO NO ENDORSE CIVIL PROTECTION SERVICES.

It is of utmost importance that the time line of events be set perfectly straight in the minds of the general public. As such, the Government of No Endorse has deemed it appropriate to release the following post-operation assessment to the public. It is almost exactly as it appeared to Prime Minister Atal Amner when this was presented to him. All sensitive information has been removed to ensure national security. The official document has several comments interspersed in order to explain situational awareness at the given times.

At <insert certified timestamp (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=12163777&postcount=280)>, the nation of Nova Britannica announced its intentions in a relatively cryptic transmission to utilize what are phrased as 'actions' to ensure that the coalition leaves British Londinium. At this point, the Coalition had been in the process of stabilizing this nation in the wake of multiple gross human rights violations. Nova Britannica was an old ally of the previous Londinium administration. Small numbers of conventional forces (censored attachment) were activated in anticipation of a Britannican invasion of British Londinium. However, no such buildup was observed through the numerous methods available to the Coalition and No Endorse, and no action was taken, and the Prime Minister was not notified.

Later, at <insert certified timestamp (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=12164295&postcount=296)>, an additional cryptic telegram was received, warning of eminent nuclear strike. This warning was dismissed as unfounded, as there was no detail given. Nations receive similar warnings by the minute, and the fact that it was from Nova Britannica was assumed to be a coincidence, or an outside party attempting to incite warfare between the Coalition and Nova Britannica. No action was taken, besides the activation of several additional units. (censored attachment)

Up to this point, evidence amounted to a cryptic official telegram warning of unspecified 'actions,' and an unverifiable e-mail from a self-proclaimed 'government traitor.' Up to this point, no action has been taken, and the situation has mostly been ignored in the normal progression of day-to-day life. It was believed that all actions would be taken in conjunction with the E.V.I.L. alliance, and many resources (censored attachment) that might otherwise have been utilized in Nova Britannica were shifted to E.V.I.L. in order to attempt to discover if any attack was being planned. These assets reveled nothing brewing, and the telegram was dismissed.

At <insert certified timestamp (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=12164635&postcount=305)>, the government of Nova Britannica launched an unprovoked strike on seven Coalition nations with Intercontinental and Intermediate Range Ballistic Missiles containing unknown payloads, with an estimated twenty weapons per nation. In addition, seventeen were fired at the nation of British Londinium. All were intercepted en-route to their destinations through various means. Accompanying the strike was a telegram containing the text 'You were warned.' The Prime Minister was notified.

It is only at this point that the previous transmissions began to coalesce into a single picture. It became brutally clear that the government of Nova Britannica was preparing for a continued nuclear campaign, in addition to numerous terrorist strikes, and every effort must be undertaken to ensure that they did not continue.

At <insert certified timestamp (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=12164798&postcount=319)>, as per the Strategic Attack and Defense Initiative, Prime Minister Atal Amner launched one hundred and sixty nuclear weapons at the nation of Nova Britannica.

These weapons contained an average yield of fifty kilotons each, and were positioned in a formation known as 'seven weapon encirclement' to maximize damage while minimizing the necessary explosive output. This tactic allows for minimizing radiation hazards for a comparable result as a much larger weapon that might yield up to a megaton. The missile systems utilized were part of the Mark XXIV 'Junkyard Granny' program. Additional information on these weapons is currently classified.

Only the top twenty targets were fired upon, both military and civilian, and each target received eight weapons. The total once again was one hundred and sixty Mark XXIVs. It was unknown at the time that other nations were considering their own strategic retaliations, most of the weapons were launched almost simultaneously.

Upon detecting the incoming missiles at an unknown time, the government of Nova Britannica reacted by launching an estimated sixteen thousand nuclear weapons at <insert certified timestamp (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=12164826&postcount=321)>. The exact number of weapons is unknowable, as is their composition. Shortly thereafter, contact was lost with Nova Britannica.

The aftermath of the situation is known to all. Of the approximately 9,000 missiles distributed between the thirteen coalition nations, it is estimated that about 692 were destined for No Endorse soil. These were of unknown type. The continuation of the military assessment contains classified information about No Endorse defense systems, and will not be released for some time. Of the released information, there are fifteen confirmed weapon impacts. Six nuclear, five chemical, and four biological weapons impacted at various locations. No Endorse defenses achieved a 97.8% destruction rate against the missiles. Nonetheless, casualty estimates hover around one hundred million over the next twenty five to thirty years due to the incident.

The official stance of the government on the situation is thus: the destruction was necessary. All nations who oppose the Glorious Military Junta's actions in this matter are welcomed to walk themselves through the situation, with twenty Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles speeding towards their own nations. Unprovoked nuclear attacks necessitate retaliatory strikes, especially in light of previous governmental communications. The nation of Kahanistan is doubly invited to re-examine its position. Many weapons are not silo mounted, the entirety of the strike launched by No Endorse was done from rail-based launchers. In addition, there exist bunkers which are impervious to all but the most powerful nuclear strikes.

Additionally, note how the entirety of the Britannican strategic reserve was not launched until it was too late for the nation to save itself. We had already launched a counter-strike when additional Britannican missile launches were detected. There was simply no way of knowing what Nova Britannica had at its disposal, be it submarine, railway, tracked, bomber, or silo based weaponry. The move ensured that Nova Britannica would never again endanger world peace.

All coalition moves in this limited incident are fully supported by the nation of No Endorse.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT OF THE ALLIED UNION OF VELKYA

Frankly, we are quite sick of the "international community" telling us how to manage our affairs. The nuclear destruction Nova Brittanica was a legitimate military action. We have no interest in launching a media friendly war against a nation who would seek to devastate our allies with no prior warning, when we can simply end the threat where it rears its ugly head. While the innocent lives of Nova Brittanica were sadly extinguished, this is the nature of a nuclear war, and the Brittanican leadership (now consisting of a smoking crater) chose to fight it. We are not the parents of the world, and are not going to simply absorb the attack and say "Oh, don't do it again."

The Nova Brittanican government knew this, and attempting to exercise its will over forces it could not hope to contain.

You all have seen the results of this futile action.

That said, we have over the years been thoroughly disgusted with the Kahanistani government, who grows more and more out of touch with the real world, instead entertaining itself with childish idealism while its citizenry is plagued with near regular invasion thanks to its interventionist policies. The notion that we will disable our nuclear stockpile (therefore presenting no deterrent to an opposing power) and stick bundles of flowers in our silos is simply laughable. A nation who cannot properly defend her own shores has no business telling us how to defend our own.

Thank you, and good night.
