Matter dealing with slaves and missionaries (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=512655)
Oh, and I think someone mentioned dropping troops from space. My response: No.]
The Drow Imperium was now faced with its first true hardship. Almost a million crusaders, many of them with at least some military training, were gathering to attack the Imperium itself against the Drow. The Imperial Military had almost fifty million in its ranks, but most of these were also the active militias of the individual Houses. A Ground War, even a Naval War, would not be difficult to fight. Despite the flowery words and the army across the sea, the Drow were not too worried. The EVIL fleet was still in their waters making regular rotations, and it was simply a matter of putting the military on high alert.
Some in the Council doubted the ability of the Matron Mother to handle the situation, as her comments on the human race nearly brought about a nation using all of its military might upon them, but when the Queen was able to ease these tensions, most of these doubts subsided.
Suspicion, however, almost went immediately to the missionaries, legal and illegal. When several illegal missionaries were found in a communal grave with missing legal ones, bodyguards were posted with all legal missionaries, and several missionaries had to leave when no soldier accepted the job of guarding them.
Because of the almost-non existing Drow naval fleet, the Air Force, which was the envy of nations all around, began to acquire larger, better, and deadlier bombs, missiles, and so on. Despite the lack of real experience, Drow pilots had proven to be far better than their Siapian trainers. [Siap had trained my military.]
SIC
The Drow were expecting a three-way attack: Land, sea, and air. From the north, they expected them to occupy North Cashiek, which was once part of the former Cashiek kingdom, but fell out of the influence of the warlords and the tribes, and only a few scattered nomadic clans remained. It had little value, which was why the Drow never occupied it. From the south was a fjord that was extremely treacherous to climb and impractical to invade from. There were Drow settlements outside of the borders there, but they were small and used mostly by Halgolth the mercenary. The only tactical value of crossing the southern mountains would be the proximity to the capital, and even then, if it was confirmed that the crusaders were using them, it would prove to be disastrous, so they kept an eye on them, but nothing more.
What was expected was through the western mountains. They were much easier to scale, and, if successful, they could occupy the entire western part of the nation, so several divisions were sent to occupy the western mountains.
Blockades were already being threatened upon the Imperium, but nothing had come of it yet, and they didn't expect them to get far with the Drow's Air Force and the EVIL fleet. Any attempt, however, would be met with numerous bombings and strikes from the EVIL fleet. Those that broke the line would have to face more of the Drow Air Force and, if they landed, a very angry, trained, and heavily armed populace and military.
The Drow expected, also, paratroopers and the like, but this is where the enemy would undoubtedly fail. On top of having to slip by Drow tracking systems and pilots, dropping the soldiers themselves would face the militias and populace who, even in night drops, would be faced with soldiers, mercenaries, and vigilantes, all trained in one way or another, tracking them down and taking them out or capturing them.
It would be a good war to fight.

"Listen up. The Doomies have asked the brass to use our spacedy to start shooting at the Elves they're crusading at," a military officer in charge of the Space Command said. As he said Elves, people snickered. "Yeah, I know, elves, very very funny. Our newest spacedy ships are going to start bombing them, so issue the orders people and make sure the satellites about Valley of the Giant are running and armed."
People nodded their assent or said "Affirmative," while continuing to laugh about the silly elves that thought they were superior to humans. If they were truly superior, why haven't humans died off in favour of the Elves? Survival of the fittest and all. The Elvish population was basically stagnated if Imperial intelligence was correct, while human population ballooned.

The newest Gorgon class combat ship to be launched into space had a heavily modified original design - Many of the combat features the original Izistani design had were eschewed for increased space-to-ground capability, and this showed in the massive spinal kinetic cannon on the top of the ship. Using it's thrusters to position itself in geosynch orbit above Valley of the Giant, the Captain waited for the order to begin indiscriminate bombardment of the EVIL fleet, the Valley of the Giant air force, population centres and everything else.
The big red 'Confirm' button was pressed in the officer's room in the WSC.
"Fire. The first salvo is to target the EVIL combined fleet, they're moving so enable missile guidance. Second salvo is to target the west coast of V-G, especially army encampments there. Third salvo is to target V-G airbases, fourth salvo is to target V-G population centres. Go nuts on wave 4, gunners." Captain Alex Lifeson said, watching out the main viewer as the first wave of kinetic weapons were fired out of the cannons of the Gorgon class.
Kinetic godrods, assisted by missile guidance, entered the atmosphere, their heat shielding protecting them from serious damage. The first wave flew directly at the EVIL fleet as it patrolled, the second wave to the west coast of Valley of the Giant, particularly the army bases, the third salvo at Valley of the Giant airbases, and the fourth salvo, possibly the most devastating one, was thirty-five kinetic weapons fired directly at the capital of Valley of the Giant.

It was now one month and five days since Pope Innocent VI had issued his Call for Crusade against the Drow Imperium. The call had been answered by nearly eight-hundred thousand Catholics representing six nations, who had made pilgrimage to Doomanum to recieve their training for the coming holy war. Just one month had been alotted for training; for many of the Crusaders, it had been the only military training they had ever recieved, while for others it was mere polish for their skills.
Also answering the call was Caesar Maximus III, Emperor of Doomanum. He had paid for the raising of the new Crusader Armies out of his own pocket and had mobilized another two-hundred thousand extremely well-trained, well-equipped, and viciously fanatical Imperial troops for the purpose of this crusade. For Maximus, this would be the fourth crusade he had bankrolled, and the fourth he himself had personaly led.
Never a man to sit back on his throne thousands of miles away from the fight, Caesar was a man who led his own campaigns. Under his rule the Imperium Doomanum had reached its greatest size.
Now that training and mobilization had finally been completed and the last of the crusaders had boarded their ships, the fleet began to fully set sail for the Drow Imperium. There were literally thousands of transports: Caesar's own Legions, those carrying regular Imperial Legionaries, were generally of military calibre, ranging from amphibious dock craft to heavily armed armored container ships purpose built for carrying tanks and soldiers.
The foreigners had been crowded into ships of all manner: merchantmen pressed into service, tankers, even some old cruise ships. All of these were escorted by Classis Doomanus Boraeus, the Imperial Northern Fleet, numbering one thousand ships.
However, their departure had been timed so that the Questarians would arrive first, thus allowing for them to deal with the EVIL Navy without any losses to the crusader fleets.

Ever since the slaughter or peaceful missionaries went public, The Holy Empire of New Canton steadily prepared for war. Confident their cause was just and righteous, support for military action was strong. Of course their were a few dissenters, who quoted such passages as "turn the other cheek", but their voices were few among many.
Reserve units from all military branches were called to duty. This war would be an event to remember, and every general in the military wanted their men to take part. Outside of the navy and marines, few would actually deploy overseas. Most units would have to settle for preparing the nation's defenses in the event of a counterattack. Those who were selected to wage the war were pround indeed.
In time, preparations were complete. As the ships finally began to set sail, wellwishers lined the docks waving and cheering the departing troops. In 12 hours, the ships of Task Force Wrath would rendevouz at rally point bravo, and make way for their destination.

War can be fun, but not like that. Use some tanks, ships, jets and troops. If you're in this war just to get a quick 'win', then I dont want to RP with you. Ill let you use the shit, but dont expect me to say, 'Oh noz! You are so cool! What a genious you are to be able to nuke me from outer space! You are so good. You win.' Sorry. Ive RP'd with some high quality war RP'ers... the most activity you see in space is the old, 'My satellite saw your tank.'

ATLANTIS Control South
Admiral Marek Machkabanov was in the Command Centre of the largest of the ATLANTIS Undersea Military Installations, looking over the latest reports from NMCC, the Kremlin, and MSS. In his hand was an Order of Readiness from the Tsar himself.
"Well?"
"Sir, the system is at 100%. We are ready for anything."
"Excellent. Captain," he said, turning to a staff officer nearby. "Send of a message to Admiral Zimmerov. Tell them that we've opened everything up and are ready to deploy them."
"Aye, sir."

"Sir, do we have authorization?"
"Yes, Captain. Engage jamming sequences."
"Aye, sir."
When the codes were put in place, a series of satellites joined up with the normal satellites accompanying a large fleet, and began jamming sequences, so that foreign satellites would be blinded as they passed within the vicinity of the fleets....

South Prussian Sea
Of course, there was the simple, conventional deployment from the Island of Hope and the Vanguard Isles.
Using this particular method was Grand Imperial Admiral Marko Zimmerov, the commander of the R13:1 Fleet, coded the "Superfleet," in typical Naval unoriginality. Why was it called this, you may ask?
It was big.
On board the Flagship, the HMS Leviathan, the GIA was huddled in the CIC with the rest of his staff.
"So, how are we doing?"
"Well, sir, we have most of the fleet here, but about half is up in the north-east. The submarines are also with us, as well. We'll link up with the other half of the fleet here --" the commander pointed at the hologram 3D map of the area - "as you ordered." The admiral nodded.
"Good. We can count on our Pschycotian friends for support. Besides, all they have to do is high-tail it out of there, and we'll only have a few hours where we'd technically be on our own. A few missile spam assaults should keep them at bay for long enough so the rest of the fleet can link up with us." The staff nodded.
"Oh, sir, are we going to be clearing a beachead?" The admiral nodded.
"Yes, that is part of our orders. We are to coordinate our efforts with the Questerian and Pschycotian fleets to clear multiple beach-heads for the Crusaders and our own Marines. I expect that MSS and SOCOM are already coordinating themselves to drop special forces into The Valley now. With combined efforts from Questers, PsiPso, and ourselves, I do not suspect any naval force will be able to hold us off for long. If they can, we've always got more ships. And planes. Planes, as well."
"Sir, that's what aircraft carriers are for." Zimmerov smirked.
"Yes, but even our duel-flight deck carriers cannot carry strategic bombers."
[That was a joke right? You're moving fleets through underground tunnels... under miles of ocean? Not only is that physically immpossible with Modern Tech, as the tunnels would collapse in the depths of the oceans, but NS Earth is so huge, it would cost thousands, millions of trillions of dollars to even contemplate covering the earth in underground tunnels. Until you show me the thread where you RP'd building an underground tunnel right to VoTG's shores... im just going to laugh at what you just posted.
Or I can say theres a secret tunnel from Kroando right to your leaders bedroom...]

Air base, eastern Kahanistan
The forces of 10,000 Marines who had been mobilizing since they had heard of some of their citizenry joining the Doomani Crusaders entered A-400M tactical lifters and C-130 Hercules transports which were in the base, having just been fueled and prepared for flight.
The planes with the marines in them then took off for the area of engagement, hoping to gain permission to land on one of the coalition carriers opposing the Drow. They would have used their own carriers had not the Kraven Navy cut them off from the bulk of their fleet; they hoped there was space aboard one of the carriers to land them on.
It would be a full twelve hours before the transports arrived at the carriers. While they would be refueled every few hours by KC-10's to provide the range to reach the fleet, the flight was expected to be otherwise uneventful for the most part.

Also the tunnels don't need to withstand pressure differences - there are none, they are filled with water.
President Alexander Kirilovich Kazansky looked at the computer screen again. “You know, people, I have to give it to her, she's pure genius. I mean, check this out: the Drow will be seeking out a superior species to govern them – I volunteer myself, of course, I’m far older than any of their kind, and not atypical among Quendi, and I dare say I’m faster to learn and possessed of vastly greater personal power and understanding. That's just genius. I tell you, people, the lady is a marvel.”
He smiled dotingly. “Now what where we talking about?”
“Alex... didn't you tell me you were over her?”
“Fuck you too, Vicky. So I did. I also did ask what we're talking about... I don't think it was my emotions, was it?”
“Well... as Secretary of State, I have to bring up the issue that, since Congress declared war on EVIL to aid the Sovereign League. If we don't want to look like traitorous cowards, we must invade one of the EVIL nations – and that's apart from actually doing Congress' will, which is also kind of important.”
Kazansky's dreamy smile became a wide grin. “I believe this is the moment where I consult the Secretary of Defense and choose an EVIL nation for us to attack, isn't it, Vicky?”
* * *
Here's what this is about! This is about a nation that manages to combine slavery, religious oppression, tyranny, and slaughter under one flag! This is about a nation so evil they fear to walk the day lest the Lord burn their eyes straight out! These are mean, lean, evil motherfuckers, and we're going to go in there, and fight them, and destroy every single one of their rulers, and tear their army apart, and trample their flag underfoot, and most of all, we're going to kill their troops – you hear me? Let none who serves the regime survive! Kill them all!

The Secondary Force Projection Fleet had left port in Allanea, and was on full speed towards the Drow nation. It's mission would become clear soon – once it was within a long, long 7,800 kilometers from the Drow nation, five Khan (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Khan_Class_Missile) missiles would launch from the ship, aiming at five separate airfields. It was not a major attack – only a show of force for now.
In the meanwhile, the Allaneans were sending a series of encrypted messages to the different Drow clans. None would know that the other clans were alerted.
We are not on the Crusader's side. We're on our own side. Contact us to negotiate.
OOC: I don't think he's using the tunnel to move his troops right up to your shores, just getting tem as close as he can without being intercepted.
Also the tunnels don't need to withstand pressure differences - there are none, they are filled with water.
[When they were dug... how was this done? Did the diggers work under water? This task would have taken... hundreds, if not thousands of years, and untold trillions of dollars.
Kroando, Derscon's used this system hundreds of times in PMT with no one arguing. I don't see why it is a problem all of a sudden now. It is technologically possible, and he has more than enough money.
Well, this is a MT thread, so my lazer-mech's from PMT are not on the field here. Second of all, I really dont care what everyone else allows, its just stupid... claiming to have underground tunnels leading to every nation in the world. Show me the RP where he spent thousands of years building these things, and untold trillions to do so. He does not have near the money required to cover NS earth in any such device, the pressure of the ocean would effectively kill any worker down there, or crush any tunnel being dug. It is not technologically possible.
If you guys cant win a war without underground tunnels leading to enemy nations, satellite lazers and Rods of God... please.]

[OOC: They don't extend to every nation, just from his shores to international waters so that he can move stealthily. And they wouldn't necessarily take hundreds of years. It's not that far. Either way, his nation's existed for thousands. As for diggers, this deals with the continental shelf, not too deep, really. Under water construction can take care of it. And his budget also allows him to spend trillions on it, so all points are shot down.

Not too far ago, Imperial Main Assault Task Force (IMATF) had received the orders to divert from their heading and to prepare to support crusaders challenging the nation of Valley of The Giant. The force had been returning from a previous deployment, which they hadn't even gotten to engage in. To help the sailors and airmen understand why they were going, the letters from the enemy government were made availible, including the ones calling humans "inferior". It wasn't like they needed more persuading, they already had itching trigger fingers.
Grande Admiral Isoruku Yamamoto III stalked across the Fleet Combat Information Center (FCIC), observing his task force out the windows. It was easier for him to command the fleet from here, as opposed to the bridge, due to the 360 degree view and the fact that this was the fleet's central hub for information and status. Trailing him was another officer, a tablet computer held in his hand. "Sir, enemy naval elements exist inside Valley of the Giant's waters. We'll have to take care of them first."
"Commander, what is the status of these elements?" asked the aging admiral.
"Sir, they are large in number, however most are either outdated, or are of the cruiser or destroyer classification. We've deemed most of these elements a minor risk due to their highly reduced firepower."
"Excellent, excellent." Yamamoto stood and thought for a little while as he peered out the windscreens at the bright waters, watching as the light reflecte off the spray sent up by so many prows. "Tell me, what is our extreme weapons range?"
"Sir, optimal fighter range is 600 nautical miles. Optimal cannon range is 250 nautical miles. Optimal missile range is between 100 and 200 nautical miles," replied the officer.
"Beautiful. Alert me when we come in fighter range."
"Aye sir."
One of the communications panels began lighting up. Yamamoto watched as the officer at the console picked up the phone and wrote down a copy of the message. Standing up, he came over and saluted the admiral. "Sir, message from Central. The Kahanistani need carriers to base their transports briefly."
"Lieutenant, contact the Kahanistani. Tell them that we have space on 3 of our carriers for 2 transports each, otherwise known as six transports. Let them know that we have catapult adaptors for them to borrow."
"Aye sir, sending message."
TO: Kahanistani Military
We would be happy to support up to 6 transports for you from our SDN
carriers. In the event that you do not have catapult adaptors, we have
spares we are willing to lend to your planes. Please return them when
this is over. We hope that this will help somewhat.

OOC:Honestly, this tunnel thing sounds like a bunch of wanked-out bullshit, and I wouldn't blame VotG for ignoring it. This is MT, guys, stuff like this isn't possible. Saying you can build it because you've been around for thousands of years is wanking in one of its purist forms.
I can just as easily say my nation has had a superlaser capable of melting your capital in seconds for thousands of years.
Let's keep this realistic.

The invasion commander radioed back to the Psychotic Psychos fleet. "We have 10,000 marines here, in fifty transports, plus the other two hundred that are carrying our gear and supplies. We'll need at least fifty landing spots, and these are some pretty big planes."
He turned to his radio officer. "Open a channel to the Questarian fleet. Ask how many planes we can land on their carriers. Don't land on the Doomani carriers if at all avoidable."
"Aye, General. Opening channel to the Questarian fleet." He activated the radio again. "Kahanistanian expeditionary forces requesting permission to land some 250 aircraft on various Questarian carriers."

OOC: Yeah, you're right, it's not MT. Sorry about that, folks. I'm used to my full arsenal of PMT, or FT, I haven't touched an MT RP in years. I've removed the troublesome spot and will be replacing it with something a little more reasonable in the near future.

Grande Admiral Yamamoto listened intently to the responding Kahanistani call. "That's quite a few more than we can handle," he said, stating the obvious. He picked up the radio himself to make the next call,
Kahanistani Forces, this is Grande Admiral Yamamoto. Unfortunately, only three of our carriers can handle large transports, two at a time. That's six. We're set to begin special forces operations soon. If any of your transports are carrying special forces members, we'd recommend staging from our fleet. We'll be better able to coordinate this way, and avoid friendly fire and overlapping SF missions. Over.

A small Kahanistanian squadron broke off from the main force. "We'll land six planes on your carriers, but everyone else needs somewhere to land, too, and we have less than an hour of fuel left. Most of our forces will have to land on the Questarian carriers."
The squadron of five split up to land on the three Psychotic Psychos carriers, to be joined by the plane carrying the Kahanistanian general in command of the deployment. The others repeated the hail to the Questarian fleet for permission to land.

Yamamoto watched the six planes break off toward them on the top down real-time display. "...Wait, did he say less than an hour?"
"Aye, sir." the radio officer said.
"Shit, contact the fleet, scramble refuelers to them ASAP! Stop! Halt flight operations on the Islands. Prepare to recover heavy transports."
"Aye, sir."
===========================================
Across the IMATF, the battlecarriers wheeled their refueling planes, modified C-17s, on to the flight decks and began launching them as fast as they could. The refuelers circled back around to find the Kahanistani transports and buy them some time.
Meanwhile, the Island SDN carriers preped their central, wide flight decks to recover the transports that were inbound. An extra arrestor cable was strung across, and arrestor nets were strung up. Preparations were finished just as the transports came in visual sight. The Flight Ops Commander on deck started yelling orders into his headset. "Get the meatballs up, put tension on the cables and net. Brace for impact!"
The ships were huge, but everytime they did Heavy Transport Recovery training, the ships took a beating. In fact, one Island just came out of drydock from repairs.
