Official Announcement from the Cute Bunny Burger Corporation

As you may or may not know, our company has it's second international competitor – not only does the nation of Mindset compete with us with it's fast food, but also the 'Sante' chain of restaurants does now attempt to compete with us. As such, we will now begin our new advertisement campaign in several nations – aimed to expand the hold of the Golden Bunny into nations where no Golden Bunnies were seen before.

We will immediately begin advertising for the Cute Bunny Burger Corporation in Clandonia, Haraki, No Endorse, and all nations of the Global Alliance of Sovereign Naitions – the campaign will cost us approximately 12 billion dollars, but we hope it'll be worth it.

OOC: Basically you post here if you want to have CBC branches in your nation. If your nation is relatively free-market, just post about said branch/es being opened, as CBC would probably expand to any nation it was allowed to expand to. I will expand slowly, eventually leveling out somewhere at a reasonable amount of branches per capita – I usually base myself at an amount which seems reasonable according to an RL amount of McD branches per capita in a similar nation, or whatever, based on discussion with the player.

Official Message from Compuglobalhypermegamarket

Compuglobalhypermegamarket is extremly interested in the Cute Bunny Burger Corporation, as such, and with the backing of the Franberrian goverment, we would like to propose the following:

That the CBBC open up to 10,000 [ten thousand] branches in Franberry.
That these branches be franchises, operated by Compuglobalhypermagamarket
That Compuglobalhypermegamarket keep 75% [seventy-five] of the profits

We will gladly agree to this offer.
Czardas
02-01-2007, 17:33
Small correction; recent civil unrest in Czardas -- especially in the Dorandor (Dorium) region -- led to the bankrupting and/or destruction of all Sovereign League-owned stores or corporations in Dorandor itself, which included at least 120 CBBC franchises. Another 36 across Czardas, while still nominally CBBC owned, have changed their logo to a black reaper wielding a bloody scythe and advertise the replacement of sugar with cyanide in their burgers and a 100% death rate from their products; this, again, may be due to pressure from Dorii lobby groups, who appear to be assassinating the directors of and infiltrating all Sovereign League-owned corporations. We have no idea why not, maybe they just don't like us.

TO: CBBC
From: Illiorian Department of International transportation
To whom it may concern,
it has come to our attention that your company is looking to set up shop in other nations. Unfortunately for you, Illiorian law prohibits that from happening in Illior. What you can do, is open restaurants in the international airports, where this department controls and regulates almost everything. There are three major international airports in Illior, each is humongous, by all means, and there's always room for a new store or shop. At the moment, we would like to make a pilot deal, where you are allowed to open nine (9) branches spread throughout the three airports. The restrictions on that are as follows: the land must be leased in 1,3,5,10 or in monthly increments, all the food must come from Illiorian sources (the mainland, in order to reduce the possibility of transferring diseases), the workers may be Allanean, or Illiorian, but you still must comply with Illiorian Minimum wage laws (3 Illirs per hour, or roughly $5.25 USD) and they must be cleared with a 30, 60, or 90 day work permit if Allanean. In order to produce the food in Illior, you will be allowed to buy one factory per airport, so three is the maximum. Going with smaller factories first seems to make more sense to start, but the initial investment is up to your company. I'd suggest looking for Illiorian investors to help fund the initial costs, as you do have the potential to open another two-hundred and ninety one more branches.

Sincerely yours,

Alex Kroll

Official Press Release

In response to the attempts of Cute Bunny Burger Corporation to make inroads into the No Endorse domestic market, we would like to state that we refuse to allow CBBC to open a wide-scale franchise in No Endorse. We must first develop a plan to allow easy interface between the Corporation and the No Endorse Government, and ensure that all rules and regulations are to be followed to the letter.

However, we will allow a limited franchise to be started in three cities: the national capitol of New Heisen, the southern city of Caranda Upon Tyne, and the central city of Lover's Leap, for a period to be jointly agreed upon at a later date. Of these three cities, we will allow seventy five restaurants each in Caranda Upon Tyne and New Heisen, and fifty in Lover's Leap. In the agreed timeframe, studies will be undertaken to assess the economic impact of allowing this foreign competitor in, and to assess the Corporation's adherence to No Endorse laws and regulations, especially those pertaining to quarantine measures.

We apologize for inconvenience.

Response to No Endorse

We accept your offer.

Respose to Illior

Would it be more legal to sell franchise rights to an Illioran corporation or multiple small businesses? Would they be able to run more branches?
Haraki
02-01-2007, 21:16
OOC: Just so you know, Haraki is a fairly anti-free market nation. All economic freedoms are still allowed, but there are very high taxes, everything to be bought is either subsidized heavily or free from the government in certain quantities, the rich are taxed much heavier than the poor.

Besides that, to stop corporations from growing out of control and turning the nation into what the Harakian government has seen too many other nations become - everything's about the corporations, they make the rules, they run the government by donations, all the government looks for is their well-being, they're incredibly rich at the top while their factory workers starve, etc. - any corporation with five or more storefronts or a set number of employees (This one differs from industry to industry), whichever comes first, is either taxed to within an inch of their life or is bought out by the government. All employees remain, but those at the top, instead of receiving the profits, receive a fairly high annual salary and report to the government instead of a parent corporation. This is why so much of Haraki's budget goes towards commerce, according to NS stats, because we are in fact buying out all the big corporations that arise in the nation.

There are no large corporations in Haraki and there is virtually no foreign investment because of the incredibly high taxes. Most forms of advertising are banned. Corporations, whether domestic or not, are not allowed to give campaign donations to politicians, or anything of the sort. Essentially, it's the good parts of economic liberty without the bad parts of multinational corporations dominating government policy.

So, bear in mind that this is not an OOC or IC rejection of the CBBC's advertising and desire to place stores in. I decided this was how it was about a year ago after getting fed up with the real world. So you're free to open franchises in Haraki whenever you want to - put down that there's however many you want in there, it's fine with me. But as soon as they reach five franchises, they get taxed extremely heavily, and it's probably not worth it anymore.
Allanea
03-01-2007, 15:17
OOC: What about a system where CBBC doesn't own any branches in your nation, but instead lets small businessmen own CBBC branches and pay us a small percent of the profit (about 25%) for the franchise?
Haraki
03-01-2007, 20:40
OOC: Well, that would probably be considered as if they were the manager that owned the franchise, but was still part of the parent corporation because they were all CBBC branches.

However, there is a fairly big loophole in the laws surrounding this which is that corporations can own each other, meaning that a corporation with a lot of money could buy out other corporations and, as long as the one corporation didn't exceed the limits in Haraki and the other corporations remained subsidiaries - were not merged with the parent company - then as long as each individual company didn't exceed four franchises or a set number of employees, the excessive taxes and buying out wouldn't occur.

So you could have CBBC branches in Haraki provided each franchise (or small group of franchises) is an independent corporation owned by the CBBC. A subsidiary corporation.

Of course, eventually the people in my nation will realize this loophole is being abused (It doesn't get used much in Haraki because nobody ever really has the money or drive to put so much effort into an endeavour) and close it, but until then...

Official Announcement from the Cute Bunny Burger Corporation

And so, it appears that the Corporation's advertisement campaign is beginning to pay off, with over 40,000 new Branches appearing in unexpecting places – not just in Sovereign League nations, not just in Franberry and The Silver Sky – but also in Ancient and Holy Terra, even in Gholgoth itself – in Illior and Haraki, too, the branches of the Cute Bunny Burger Corporation have now appeared. The Cute Bunny Burger Corporation is approaching a critical no-return number of over 2.25 million branches – an amount not actually seen before! Ladies and gentlemen, this is unprecedented.

But this will not be the end of it. We promise to our shareholders one thing and one thing only – more profits, and we promise to our customers one thing and one thing only – better service at lower prices.

Such is our simple, succinct message to sapientkind.

May the Sun never set on the Golden Bunny.

Ancient Terra News Network
130th floor, ATNN Tower
Tellerus, Capital of the Republic of Ancient Terra
Regular 7:00pm broadcast

Melissa Ariya turned back towards the camera and smiled. "Thanks, Koushiro. In other news, the internationally known Cute Bunny Burger Corporation is opening its flagship store in downtown Tellerus in famous Chiba Square. Occupying several hundred thousand square-feet across the bottom 4 floors of the 400-story Miyagi Industries tower, this impressive (and expensive) location marks the center of CBBC's efforts to break into the competitive fast-food market in Ancient Terra. Koushiro Iyagi is here with one of our analysts, Mr. Daichi Tojo."

The camera switched to Koushiro and Mr. Tojo. "Mr. Tojo, do you feel that CBBC can succeed in Terra?"

The heavyset analyst smiled and looked at the camera. "Yes, I do. Previous foreign ventures have failed due to a mixture of poor understanding of Terran traditions and an inability to compete pricewise with the larger domestic companies. CBBC, however, should have enough financial staying power to survive the unprofitable start-up period."

The camera cuts back to Melissa. "Thank you! On-the-scene reporter Kai Okita was present at the opening ceremonies earlier today;"

The image cuts to a prerecorded video; a male reporter standing underneath an umbrella and holding a microphone begins to speak. "Despite the dismal weather today, as much of Ancient Terra's coastal regions were battered by increasingly frequent and severe thunderstorms, the Cute Bunny Burger Corporation's initial unveiling of their flagship location went off without a hitch. Tens of thousands of people crowded Chiba Square for a special performance by famous band HaiKara, before CBBC's President of Haven Operations cut the ribbon alongside guest-of-honor Michael Okuda, Ancient Terra's Vice Minister of International Trade Affairs."

Various images flash of the band's performance, the crowd, and the smiling executives as they cut the huge red ribbon with a comically large pair of scissors. "This store is the first and by far the largest of 125 in downtown Tellerus; the others will be open for business tomorrow. Tellerus, easily the largest city in Ancient Terra, houses more than 3 billion people in its various municipalities. Sources within CBBC tell us that approximately 35,000 Cute Bunny Burger eateries are planned for Ancient Terra, over a period of approximately 2 years. Numerous locations in Tellerus and across Terra have been purchased by corporations and individuals associated with CBBC, and it is suspected that the presence of numerous top government officials at this event signal a "go-ahead" signal to CBBC to proceed with their development plans. This is Kai Okita, Ancient Terran News Network."

The camera cuts back to the studio, where Melissa and Koushiro sit behind a large desk. "Well, I think I might give Cute Bunny Burger a try tomorrow." giggled Melissa. Koushiro laughed.

"It couldn't hurt! This is Koushiro Iyagi,"
"and Melissa Ariya,"
"signing off. Good night, Ancient Terra. We'll see you tomorrow morning."

The Sensible Economist: DethBurger Success

The black metal band DethKlok has obtained a sponsorship deal with the CBBC in Leafanistan. After they released a single with only a song about CBBC sales in Leafanistan soared from just 90,000 sales per day to an astounding 77 million sales per day and with an additional 5,500 franchises opening all over Leafanistan and the Colonial Autonomous Republics.

DethKlok has released the single on iTunes and the international market is now clamoring for CBBC and their 'freakin' metal' burgers.

OOC: There you go, 5,500 more branches in Leafanistan and this should boost international sales.

[ V10CC ]

All businessed are welcome in Vault 10. There is no income tax and virtually no laws to restrict the development; right not to have the government to intervene with businesses is constitutional, and the government has only advisory powers. Business first, government second.
The only centralized limitation is that land is, by default, property of Vault-Tec corporation (but available for rent at very low price or purchase at reasonable cost) and so pollution has to be properly recycled or paid for, but that shouldn't be noticeable for your kind of business. This is just to inform you.
Also, be advised that, due to lack of central government, your protection is your own concern. In some cities there is central security system, but they charge additional rent for everyone. In others there always are private security companies, including the international Standard Security Corporation. However, this, again, is hardly a problem for small businesses unlikely to be attacked.

We have, however, a few questions on behalf of Vault 10 citizens, which may affect additional advantages to lower the initial investment cost.
* Do you use real bunnies/rabbits? If so, are they naturally bred, rack-produced, or other way?
* What are the opinions of medical studies on your food?
* Do you normally import own products or purchase them locally?

You are free to open as many branches as you consider profitable in any case.

OOC responses for Vault10:

1. We use real bunnies in our main meal, the trademark burger. The production methods vary locally. However, other burgers are also available, depending on what's popular in a given country.

We prefer to have local branches owned by locals on a franchise basis, and receive a percentage of profit as a fee. This reduces our investment costs.

2. Our food is endorsed by the Lifewyze, Inc. medical corporation.

3. We normally produce the food locally, in compliance with local laws and traditions.

OOC: Correct. Our food is however healthy, as would be revealed if an inspection took place.

P.S. By 'healthy' I mean the meat, etc. is of good quality, and so forth. As for caloric content, fats, and so forth, the effects of this food on yor health are of course dependent on what meals you order and what lifestyle you have.

OOC: Just to point out, Lifewyze is a sinister multinational Bio-weapons company that classifies Religion as a disease and is universally regarded with distrust/suspicion (and yes, it’s also an equally suspicious medical corporation).
That's fine with us - a country run by multinational corporations.
Actually, we treat religions no better, and the last of them were wiped out by a biomodified agent of Geneforge NLC (see No Liability Company (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/No_Liability_Company)).

To CBBC:

Vault-Tec will provide some assistance for CBBC franchises opened in out arcologies. Food is not produced in our country (except for hydroponic-grown nutrients for lower class citizens), due to lack of suitable lands, and rather imported. Of course, that increases expenses, but prices our medium-class citizens can pay well reflect them.
We'll provide low rent costs and facilitate low transport cost for all franchises importing quality, naturally grown products, assuming your corporation purchases them centrally and so cutting costs.
The franchise return will be 50% of cost difference between normal purchase and large-scale bulk purchases in cooperation with CBBC, which, considering the requirements, should be profitable for both. If you wish, CBBC will be registered as No Liability Company (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/No_Liability_Company), making it safe from lawsuits of people who choked on a bone or found their feelings disturbed. Medical inspections are centralized in any case, and what people eat is up to them to decide - we only inform them.

To Lifewyze Inc. (via CBBC):
Considering some data we've got on Lifewyze religions, we are interested in relations with that company. The only church attended by Vault 10 citizens is Church's Chicken fast food chain - but some of our immigrants may require treatment. What methods do you use to cure religion?

We look forward to deep relations with Allanean businesses - we surely can find a common language, and we know what that language is.

We expect baseline number of 1.2 per million, so totaling 12,000 branches. There is competition currently, due to purchase and revival of Church's Chicken chain by We Buy It, Inc., but probably a larger number may be set up, depending on how the market goes.

there are now 12000 CBBC's in Swilatia. You do not have to worry abbout SAnte taking over, as their expansion seemed to slow down when Vita, also expanding very slowly, was introduced to the country.

Do not let our name or our membership in the GUSN fool you; we are as fundamentally about business here as we are about revolution. Cute Bunny Burger Corporation may open as many branches here as it sees fit and deems profitable, perhaps starting in our capital of Tailville DR where there should be plenty enough demand.
Sincerely,

IC :

The Empire had received a weird request ... from a business corporation. The request stated the corporation's wish to open several thousand CCBC branches in Imperial soil.

The request was passed through the upper echelons of the government and it was passed. A permit to open at most 20,000 CCBC branches in the Empire was handed to the Corporation along with best regards from the Director of Commerce.

We would like to invite the Cute Bunny Burger Corporation to open up franchises in the territories of the Confederacy of Defense Corporations. We offer you the right to open 1500 franchises (100 in each of the major cities of the Confederacy - Saigon, Hong Kong, Seoul, Inchon, Tokyo, Sapporo, Christchurch, Darwin, Port Moresby, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Shanghai, Macao, Manila and Bandar Seri Begawan), operated by Pearl Foods (a member of the Confederacy), with the Confederacy keeping half the profits.
