The Association of League International Football is the official football association for Earth V. Started on January 1st of 2007, its goal is first to offer a diversion from war, conflict, and otherwise harsh diplomacy in order to prosper a setting of mutually affirmative matches between countries and nations. The following is a list of countries that have applied to join the Assocation:

Some guidelines:
Instead of using years as our standard, I'm unilaterally going to use "seasons" to describe the number of cups so far. Each season will last for 4 weeks: each team competes for 2 weeks in friendlies, invitational cups, and other cups; the third week is reserved for the qualifiers ; and the fourth week is the World Cup tournament.

Since this will be the first World Cup [since the last aborted attempt], I will begin this new season on 1 January 2007 [which happens to be a Monday, my official end/start of the week]. I do have a scorinator, so the results will be semi-legitimate [if you can trust a computer to calculate scores...]. If any of you are kind enough and have your scorinators, you can start your own little leagues/friendly matches/etc and send the results to me [via TG, preferablly email, or just a whopping on a new thread to be started soon].

But anyway, this is only a suggestion, and if you guys are really interested in this, don't post a reply here!!! [I REPEAT - DON'T POST HERE!!!] Email your prospective national team with the following details:

1 - National team name [[I]simply the nation you represent]

2 - Playing Style [any number between and including -5 and 5]

3 - [optional] Playing roster [I say optional because I don't care who plays on your team at all - you could have all-stars from Barcelona or Internationale and still lose every freaking game, because the computer bases its scores on random algorithms - speaking of which, if you give your country's rank, I will automatically give you whatever is the inverse of that number for your rank, because at the moment, I don't have any ranks].

4- [optional] Mascot [I say optional because football doesn't need mascots to rouse the fans; just speak to the Irish]

Common sense: if you are representing more than one national team, submit multiples of the little application, don't clump. And by sending multiple copies, I don't mean multiple emails [I'll provide examples below]. As far as ranks go, no one has any rank. So at the moment, everyone is ranked zero. Because of this, it is equally possible that Brazil will suck at every match they play, or that Vanuatu will win the World Cup, or both, or none. So if you come arguing to me that "it's not realistic that I could lose," or especially "it's not realistic that I could lose to this person," because then I retort "oh, it's not realistic that Italy could ever beat France in the World Cup Finals." It happens - it's done. Any arguments will only make me upset. The same deal goes for the ranks that I will calculate [using a equation based off of the FIFA equation] - arguments will only serve to frustrate me. That said, if you've got proof, supply it and I'll see what changes need to be me - especially if they're substantive; because while I'm trying to intimidate the "it's not fair" crowd, I'm also trying to encourage the "it's not right" crowd - because it's quite possible that I input the a results of a game in reverse.

That said, if you're interested, you can take a look at any of the following templates [I REPEAT, TEMPLATE] to send to me, so I can account for it in my league ranks worksheet [for those of you who care to notice, my life semi-revolves around having XL worksheets do my work :D] ===

For one national team:

National team name: Alif Laam Miim

Playing Style: 2

Roster: N/A

Mascot: N/A

For two or more national teams:

National team name: Abyssinia

Playing Style: -1.1482747382757363

Roster: N/A

Mascot: N/A

National team name: Chad

Playing Style: 0

Roster: N/A

Mascot: N/A

I've spent too much time on this, but I hope that it's all good and done. Please email me at iyazemel-3@hotmail.com - it's fast, painless, and costs you nothing but time. Of course, if you don't want to join the fun, simply put, don't send me emails about how much you think this idea sucks, because I will make your life completely miserable :D][/SIZE]

Starting January 1 [MON], I will begin two weeks of games, friendlies, invitationals, et cetera. To make things fair for everyone, I'm placing a maximum cap on the number of games that people can play, only because the last time I tried this, I was swamped with hundreds of games for which I had to scorinate and calculate ranks. It was not the most entertaining time whenever I did this, but nonetheless, I'm thinking that if we have fewer teams here, we can manage something like this without the pain. That said, I'm capping the number of games played per week at 12 friendlies per team.

If any of you want to host an invitational and need me to scorinate, give me the details about how you want the invitational to run [one invitational per season], and I will scorinate. Of course, if you have a scorinator, I would like to ask you for the results of every game so I can adjust the calculations to accommodate - as such, I will also supply the playing styles for each team [if you wish to use them...].

On January 15 [MON], which concludes the two weeks of playing games, I will begin one week of qualifiers for the World Cup. I will divide people into as many groups/leagues as needed to make qualifications neat and clean to give me a set of any multiple of 8 to proceed to the World Cup.

On January 22 [MON], the World Cup begins. I will have the qualifying teams run into a group stage, with the best two running into the elimination rounds to make a stake for the World Cup.

At the moment, this is as much as I can tell you, but of course, once I get a clear idea with how many teams I will work, I'll give it to you. But until then, I will be accepting teams up until January 8, which is one week after the New Year, leaving one week for people to return from the New Year to make their place in the world ranks. That said, if you want to have this sort of fun, I strongly suggest that you join up now, because it will be some sort of crazy fun you get from cheering your favorite team, even though it's all completely calculated by a computer. And it's always amusing to see the run-ups between hard-core adversaries and long-time allies. Even if you're in last place, there is some pride in your team :D.

Friendlies

To request a friendly match, use the following template:

<TEAM NAME> [also home team]

Friendly Match

<OPPOSING TEAM NAME>

I say template, because you can frame it in any way that you'd like. The point of this story is that I want to know which team is playing against which other team. You can list several teams [as long as it does not exceed the 12 friendlies per week mark], which I strongly suggest, since it saves me time and stress. The most important part of this declaration is that the teams being challenged must accept before I make the match [as long as the opposing team hasn't reached their 12 match limit either...]. I say this because in the past, I have made games for teams that did not willing give to the challenge for unknown reasons - and to that cause, I have wasted time making matches. If you are a team that will accept any challenge from any team [good or bad], please state so, as that would make my job easier as well [instead of having to wait for your acceptance]. To exemplify such a cause, I will demonstrate in my first post beyond the guidelines on how to make a declaration.

After I have gotten your team and the opposing team, I will post the results as soon as possible. The results are the calculation of a computer's random generation of numbers, based on details that I have given to it. There is no RL aspect that is taken from the team's name, geographical affiliation, or otherwise RL interpretation of whose team is better than the other team; results are calculated purely by numbers - that said, do not complain to me about how or why your team lost [even if the ranks are against the win]. One, it's just a game. Two, it's not me that calculates the scores. Three, I'll cite numerous instances when the team that should have won actually lost, so don't even go there. [I]Capisce?

I will post the results in this thread, for which the purposes of this thread are semi IC [not SIC], which means ooc chatter is still not in place, although extended conversations about the matches, games, et cetera are alright, as long as national politics, economics, and military conniving are kept out of here.

Invitational

To request an invitational, use the following template:

<TEAM HOSTING COUNTRY>

<NAME OF INVITATIONAL>

Invites

<NUMBER> national teams to compete for a prize.

This is all that really matters to me. For ease of calculations, I would strongly prefer a number that is a multiple of "8", as it allows me to set-up a match guide that allows for a semi-finals and finals round. If you have your own set-up for an invitational, please let me know as well, so I can accommodate your style to the match set-up. If you want to invite only certain teams to compete in your invitational, please state so; otherwise, all invitationals are assumed to be open to all willing challengers.

Invitationals run a similar background compared to friendlies, except that it is run in a competition cup style [meaning that there's a group stage and elimination stage]. In the group stage, you will have groups in which teams will compete against each other. The top seeds from those groups will proceed to an elimination round that will cumulate in the finals match. If you do not understand this concept, I would strongly suggest looking at previous World Cups, Conference Cups, and even in the future cups that we will hold here for some guidance and inspiration on how these cups are run.

When I set up a run for calculations, invitationals are weighted more strongly than friendlies, because of the increased level of competition in an invitational. For that reason, teams will only be allowed to compete in one invitational per season.

World Cup Qualifiers

If you wish to compete in the World Cup qualifiers, there is nothing extra that you need to do. All teams that are in the Association are automatically slated to play in the qualifiers. However, if you do not wish to compete in the World Cup qualifiers for any reason, please state so [not the reasons...] because that will allow me to avoid entangling people into things in which they do not wish to compete. Personally, I think that everyone should make every opportunity to play a match, but that's my personal opinion.

At the moment, there are no federated leagues in the Association, there are no conference qualifiers, which means that all of the world is set to play against each other in a global setting. Qualifiers will run in a simple group stage elimination, with the top seeds going on to compete in the World Cup finals [week of 22JAN2007]. Those top seeds will compete in another group stage, which will cumulate in the elimination rounds and the Final Match, to be played on the last day of the week [SUNDAY for reference]. The 3rd/4th playoff will be posted during the day, while the Final Match will be posted at 0000GMT [or as close as possible to that time].

Thereupon, the Season will end with that match and a new season will begin and allow us to restart the process for a new World Cup champion.

As for the playing style, it's just a representation of your playing style. The more negative a number is, the more defensive your team plays, and vice versa.

A team with a playing style of 5 is the most aggressive and offensive; a team with playing style -5 is the most defensivel; a team with playing style 0 is "equally" defensive and aggressive. For reference, I'll name your team as Tanzania - alright?

OK, sorry about the inconvience

I would like to put up Bujumbura, in the Burundi province for a location for the first World Cup. They have one large dome, with the capacity for 105,000 spectators, and two smaller outdoor stadiums, one with the capacity for 75,000 fans and the other with the capacity for 90,000. The National University is in Bujumbura, and its many dormitories and cafeterias could be used to house the participants, coaches, officials and staff, while the cities ten large hotels could hold fans.

for reference, I've also established your playing style as "0" - which is fine by me, but I felt that you would tell me more details about it.

In any case, your entire country would have audition for World Cup hosting rights, not just one city [unlike the Olympics...]. I'll assume that you want to host anyway, so I'll make the transition from the city to your country.

Additionally, for those countries with multiple national team must distinguish which "country" is doing the hosting. Par exemple, UCR distinguished that the UCR is basically anything that isn't part of his Iranian possessions, while UCR-Iran is everything that is part of his Iranian possessions. For me, ALM is anything that is not Abyssinia [Ethiopia et al.] or Chad [Chad et al.]; so if you want to host, please make this distinction. OF course, you're more than welcome to submit as many of your national teams to host, but do realize that only one candidate can win [unlike in RL...]

The People's Republic of Asian China will candidate to host the World Cup I. We're having a lot of stadiums (both outdoor and indoor) in Asian China with one of the biggest in our capital Shanghai:The Shanghai Stadium with 80,000 seats. Another big one is the Guangdong Olympic Stadium in Guangzhou, 100 miles north of Hong Kong, it holds 80,000 spectators.

and just a note, since a lot of people are doing it... national team name basically means the name of the nation that is hosting the team. For example in real life, the English national team is distinct even though they come from the same country as the Scottish national team, and the Welsh National Team, and the Northern Irish National Team. So if you're doing those teams, I'd say just Bamako and the Candistan West African Alliance, instead of the added fillers "United" and "Military Football Legion" - those are things I consider "mascots" because they represent something else beyond the national team itself...

AS OF THIS POSTING!!!!

No more teams may be accepted to enter into the Inaugural World Cup for the Association of League International Football.

The Association has taken the great liberty of divvying the teams into 6 groups

[4 groups of 4, 2 groups of 5].

Group A
Alif Laam Miim
Poland
Bamako
Maldives
Midway Islands

Group B
UCR - Iran

Group D
Southern Sardinia
East Timor
Philippines
Kopparbergs Africa

Group E
Tanzania
Cameroon
Taiwan

Group F
Candistan West African Alliance
Scandinavia
UCR
Chad

Here's how this will run:

*Each team in each group will play each other at least twice;

*Top two seeds will win rights to move into World Cup - off the back, this will offer us 12 teams;

*The third seeds for the six groups will have a play-off, where the top four seeds will progress to the World Cup [bringing our total to 16 competitors].

Now for the most important part of this whole shindig - who's going to host the World Cup. For this I will start a new thread that will hopefully run smoothly and without outside interference [if there is, I have a back-up plan!]. All members of the Association are allowed to vote on who gets to host the World Cup for Season 1, so I strongly encourage all of you to vote, even if it is for yourself. We've got a lot of candidates this year, so I hope that it goes smoothly and without a run-off count. The first country to achieve a 50% majority wins the bid - but more about this in that particular thread...

For the remainder of this week, I will finish up the other friendlies, invitationals, and other bureaucratic non-sense that needs to be cleared before we begin the qualifiers. And to all, I wish you much luck!

But you guys are free to do whatever you'd like to do with this stuff. The reason why I'm not doing too much with it is because I'm either (A) getting ready for school again, (B) freezing my head off, or (C) watching the news about how I'm freezing my head off.

Just make sure that there's not godmod in any of posts, or you'll be answering from more than just me.

The Inaugural World Cup for Earth V is being hosted in TG6R, with the following groups to compete for the grand prize and right to be called champion of the world. Those that fail the task will know that their endeavor has been enough to get them this far, and that next season presents new opportunities and new challenges for them.

The Association of League International Football presents the 4 Groups that will compete for the right to compete in the Elimination Stage.

The Central Asian Football Federation (CAFF) submits a request to join the ALIF. Represented under its banner are national teams from the Republics contained within the UARCA:

The Republic of Iran [4]
The Republic of Mongolia [5]
The Republic of Kazakhstan [-1]
The Republic of Turkmenistan [0]
The Republic of Turkestan [1]
The Republic of Kyrgyzstan [-2]
The Republic of Uzbekistan [3]
The Republic of Tajikistan [-2]
The Republic of Central China [-4]

UARCA National Squad (East) [-4]
UARCA National Squad (West) [4]

CAFF's qualifying process for international matches is a tournament system, with the two highest-ranked national teams sent as representatives of tyhe UARCA to international torunaments. The exception is the World Cup- instead, two teams (UARCA East and UARCA West) will be chosen by a more traditional national-team selection method and entered into the tournament.

Our organization, though relatively young, feels that we have much to bring this great international sport and its blanket organization- and thus request inclusion in its ranks.

Some notes before I do some fun stuff to declare:

Voting for Season 2 World Cup Hosts is in the same thread as was the World Cup itself:

http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=515578

Please vote! [and please be fair for those of you who have numerous teams...]!

And for Season 2 additions, I will be taking any and all new national teams up until February 7th [Wednesday 0000GMT], to participate in the World Cup II qualifiers. I would strongly encourage you to do so in advance, however, as it would give you an advantage for the next season to roll along with a strong point foundation. As I will say many times, the more you play, the better your team will be in the long run. Of course, it's always better if you win them all, but sometimes your don't so optimize your chances!

And because ranks will have an effect on your points accrued, don't go bullying the weaker teams, because youu gain almost nothing in comparison to what they gain [although don't go snobbing and refuse to play with anyone not your "level" either...]. Just have fun! And no gambling either!!!

My apologies for having been detained for so long on doing RL things... [although at the moment, I don't know to whom I am apologizing...]

School is being nasty for my first two weeks [and I don't anticipate it to be any nicer over the next couple of weeks...] - and I was stupid enough to max out my credits for this semester [well, I have to anyway...]. But anyway, here's some concrete details about which hopefully settles things a little bit better than what I had originally intended.

Regarding the football organization - I'm still doing it; it's just that I'm not as responsive as I ought to be to hold 4-week seasons, so I'm doubling it to 8 weeks [for convenience...]. That means that people still have a lot of time to actually get on to doing some more friendlies, and to vote [since TG6R is obviously the only person who votes...] for the next World Cup Host [for this season]. I'm laying out the schedule here, so people who are involved will at least see this somewhere [copied to the main thread as well, so don't worry about it].

Week of 29JAN2007 - Start of Season 2
Week of 05FEB2007 - rien d'especiale
Week of 12FEB2007 - ditto
Week of 19FEB2007 - ditto
Week of 26FEB2007 - Voting for the Host will end [thread is here (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=515578), if you are having problems finding]
Week of 05MAR2007 - rien d'especiale
Week of 12MAR2007 - Qualifiers for the World Cup
Week of 19MAR2007 - World Cup Season II

And obviously Season III starts the week of 26MAR2007.

I'm hoping that this will work out better for me and for those who are eager to get involved. I haven't decided if I would extend extensions to the match limits, but at the moment, they remain the same [because school work is killing me, and I don't want to do bad in RL work...].

I'll check the other threads for things that I perceive to be necessary replies, but if you need anything specific, it is probably best to shoot me a TG...

The UCF would like to send the French National Football Team to join the ALIF.

As Granate indicated, there are instructions on how to apply to the ALIF... but I'm going to be lenient, because it's been a while since anyone applied anyway.

I have a few questions:

1 - Is it just the French team, or are you also doing Korea and Japan and Cote d'Ivoire?

2 - I will need a number between -5 and 5, to indicate your team's(s') playing style: -5 being most defensive, 5 being most offensive, and 0 being neutral. Please indicate it as soon as possible.

Also, people should try to be more active, because more games played = better rank. I will probably update the ranks next week, even though there haven't been many matches to distinguish the teams much from the early Season 2 ranks...

This is how this will run out:

* Each group will host two matchdates between all teams - one away and one at home. Since all of the groups are equal, that means every team plays 8 matches. The top two contenders in each group are automatically selected to go to the World Cup [12]; the third seeds will be run through another round to determine the next 4 seeds [16].

* I will be playing over the next five days [SPRING BREAK!] results from the matchdates. The last two days will be reserved for the final playoffs before the World Cup begins in earnst this coming Monday.

* On Monday, I will begin playing the three group matches. The top two seeds in each group [8] will run through the elimination stage, over the next three days. on Sunday [25MAR2007], I will post the results to the World Cup Final Match - after which, Season Three will begin. I will post a detailed list of the dates at a later time, but this is how things will look like:

ooc. It's just an idea, but what about continental championships? Like the European Championship etc.

What about the Bamako team?

Well, Bamako stays the same since it is still the capital of the country, it's just CWAA that has to become FSWA

I will change CWAA to FSWA as soon as possible.

And @ Maryan...

I'd do Continental Qualifiers, but the problem with that is that I barely have enough players to even do qualifiers. And for Sharina? That's one [maybe two] continents under one team. I'd imagine a qualifier play-off with that one.

: He's up, he's in, HE SCORES!!! SHARINA BEATS SHARINA!!!!!!! WE'RE GOING TO THE WORLD CUP!!!!

That's not very imaginative, but it's a problem that we get when we have the world coalesced into major states. I'd love to do, but we don't have enough people for the task at hand. If we get enough people, we perhaps can try to league style football [like continental qualifiers, except more diverse].

:D how true....

I guess we could have our own generators and have premierships and International club tournaments.....

To space out the wait between world cups (i know we have friendly matches e.t.c. and this is probably the same thing)

I might have to do a generator for the Rugby world cup (Only problem being is that nobodys playing either N.Z or Aus:( )

or we could be inventive and have a patanque (uh is that how you spell it) or curling league...... :)

Candistan, I've changed my official ranks to FSWA, but unfortunately, I've already registered the scores for CWAA up until the end of the World Cup [yeah, yeah...]. I'll be sure to account for the change in Season 3 before I do any sort of scorination, but I apologize for the confusion that this may cause. Of course, I could just simply change the name from CWAA to FSWA, but I know that I will certainly slip up one or two times, so just a forewarning.

Okay, thanks a ton. By the way, If (more like when) I purchase more West Indies Islands from the RUN, is it okay if I add a new team to my roster. I was thinking something along the lines of Federation-West Indies (FWI).

As always, new teams are welcome.

Just be sure that your new territories are settled and secure before sending us a team that won't even play one game [that is, wait until the war is over and your ownership is confirmed].

The Emirate National Teams wish to open Season 3 with their traditional National Friendlies Cup:

ALM v Abyssinia
Abyssinia v Chad
Chad v ALM

In addition to these friendly matches, the following international friendlies are offered:

ALM v Asian China
Abyssinia v Poland
Chad v Mozambique

On an administrative note, I am going to be compiling a list of people who are willing to accept any and all friendly challenges [like myself, Kopparbergs, Granate, and I think TG6R and Candistan]. If you are willing to accept any and all friendly match challenges, please state so in your next post. Otherwise, I will leave it as it stands currently.

The list will be on the first page, where I'll star teams open for any and all challenges, so people wanting to play friendly matches don't have to wait necessarily for a challenge acceptance. That said, the 12-match for every week still applies, although no one has conceivably broken that rule by any leap and bound [the only one close to do so is UCR, and the most that it ever got was 9... so people have the opportunity to play a lot of matches still!] So I hope that Season 3 turns out to be a great experience for everyone, especially people recent joining the Association League [yes, it is a acronym-type pun, just like the French...].
