Earth-V World Factbook, OOC-thread

I've started to make an offsite Earth-V World Factbook.
This is really a first sketch, but you may look at it and tell me what you think!
The factbook is here (http://oabv.com/) (I had a 4-letter .com-domain unused, so I placed it there).
When it's done you'll be able to log in and edit the figures for your own nation, such as the RL-based population. The budget calculation is done the same way as on nseconomy.thirdgeek.com (http://nseconomy.thirdgeek.com/nseconomy.php) (I looked at the source code), and as much as possible is retrieved by the NationStates XML-feed.

Can my nation be called the "Empire of Vineyard"?
Also, how do you log in to change/fix/edit one's stats?

Fixed your name.
You cannot log in yet, I'm not done with that. But all of you will get a unique password when I'm done!

sufficed to say, this is a very good idea, although I do admit that method I currently employ is somewhat at loss for the need to update constantly... I look forward to the edits, so I can make an even more accountable economic declaration.

it says I have an EV population of 0 lol. Can that be fixed?

Oh, yes. This is one of the things you will be able to edit once the "log in" section is done. I looked in your factbook, but I didn't see any population figures there. If you tell me your population, I'll edit it (this goes for all of you with a zero as your Earth-V population)!

The website is not done yet, I'm almost done with the login-part. Soon (within a day or two) you'll be able to log in and edit some of the figures and some other things for your own nation.

I'm done with the login-function now, and I've set up three account for test purposes. I've sent telegram to ALM, Candistan and Vineyard with usernames and passwords.
If they're satisfied, I'm going to send TG's to all other in EV with usernames and passwords in a couple of days. If you eager to test it out, send me a TG or tell me here and I'll set up your account.

Yes, if it doesn't state otherwise. The budget shows both NS and Earth-V versions (NS to the right and EV to the left).
I'm going to do the same thing for the facts in the first Economy-table.
Any other suggestions you want me to implement? I'm open for suggestions!

well, I've supplied my gross population [the population as stated was the Emirate populationn...] - but I've got a unique situation in that the standards of living in my protectorate states are reduced because of economic disadvantages, so the actual declaration there is actualy an overestimate of my country's gross budget [by at least $2tril...]. In addition, I've set up my budget in an adjusted rates format for each ministry, so the budget rates established on my NS site are exactly representative of the ministries they represent. Just to put it straight, my economic stats are derived somewhat differently than what is presented, and if I had only enough knowledge to derive it into an XML derived code, I could possibly be at ease with myself about using this stuff - alas, I'm dumb as far as XML goes... but it's still a marvelous work, takes the work out of the budget calculations at least :D

I'm eager to test it out after looking through it. Good Job Kopparbergs. I await the TG.

Thank you!
I've sent you a TG with username/password now.
You're welcome to come with suggestions on improvements/additional functions.
I'm planning to implement "protectorates/subdivisions" of the nations into the budget. The player will be able to add as many as he feel suitable, and divide the budget amongst them, either in absolute figures or in percent of the total budget.
And another thing, I'm going to register another domain for the factbook. Which should I register:
earthv.net or
earth-v.com

You can change your Earth-V name yourself if you login with the username and password I've sent to you by TG.
If someone is missing username/password for the site, reply to me here and I'll send you a new TG.

I'm moving the site to another host.
www.oabv.com (http://www.oabv.com) will continue to work, but the other domain www.earthv.net (http://www.earthv.net) - which will be the "official domain" - will move to a new host. It will go offline, and be back online again in a day or two at the new host. When the move is done I'll probably take down the oabv-domain.
Use the oabv.com domain for now. When you notice that it don't work anymore, please begin to use earthv.net instead.

If this thing is still active and in use, Kopps you might want to think about editing it a little.
While it's great to reminisce, it's a little out of place for the nations of Asian China, Braska, Brinkman Isle and Samtonia to be there when these people are no longer active in Earth V.
Also, how's the move to earthv.net coming? You still planning that or you just going to leave this where it's at?

You're right, I need to update the list of nations. And the domain earthv.net is registered, I just need to move everything to the new server. I *am* going to do that, but I don't know when. :)
When the site is moved there will be a redirection to the new site.
Thank's for bringing this up, UE!

Once, you found out what your password is again you should write it down on a piece of paper and keep it in a easy to remember place. This way, even if you forget it or it somehow gets erased again it won't be gone. All you'll then have to do is find that piece of paper.
Sorry to hear about your computer problems, lord knows we've all been there at some point. Oh, the joys of technology! :headbang:
